The best hopia’s I’ve EVER had! I’ve tasted many hopia’s before and none are as tasty as these. You can tell they are fresh and made that day. Once you take a bite into these it’s soft and chewy. The best thing is the flaky part! I love their pineapple and langka flavor. Also, try their empanadas. My sister and I were surprised they were tasty as well. This place makes me want to come back for more! I highly recommend this place.

I’m not an expert on hopia but I’m an avid Baker and I can tell this is homemade. Very yummy!

Love their hopias! Because this is pretty much the only thing they sell here, they better do it right. And they definitely do! The staff is always nice and polite. I no longer live in the area but make a point to pass through here when I am near. My favorite is the ube which is best eaten warm with a hot cup of coffee! If you are in the neighborhood, stop by! They take cards now!

Love this place! It’s a simple shop that focuses on hopia(4 – 6 different flavors) as well as a few other baked goods and some boba drinks(limited selection of flavors). Always a friendly staff whenever I drop in, and the prices are very inexpensive. Delicious food always, and lots of seating/parking available!

Hopia was still warm but the guy charged me the 15+1 hopia deal but only gave me 1 dozen. I did ask if i could taste the buko pandan. He gave me a whole one and I did expect to be charged for that. But he totally overcharged me and for that they only get one star. I know it’s cheap but it’s the principle that counts.

I wanted to bring my friends a Filipino treat from San Diego and decided to get it here because of the different flavors of Hopia. They also serve Boba Shakes(ube, mango, coconut, honey dew, strawberry, ice coffee, thai tea) and of course Hopias. The flavors of the Hopias are, Mongo(Mung Bean), Baboy(onion), Ube(purple yam), Pineapple, Langka(jackfruit), and Buko Pandan(coconut) flavors. :Dessert: I tried the Ube and Puko Pandan. I thought it tasted like a regular Hopia. The Hopia was flakey, it wasn’t very sweet. If you are in the area and a fan of Hopias; give it a try especially because of the different flavors. I wouldn’t go out of my way to drive here though. ( ) :Customer Service: Informative about the shelf life of the Hopia. :M’s Notes: ~Indoor seating ~Parking lot

I had the pineapple and coconut flavors for the first time and have fell in love with it since. Went somewhere else assuming they all taste the same and was disappointed. Really flakey on the outside and moist on inside.

Very yummy hopias! Sometimes they have a sale and it’s about $ 3 for a box of hopia. Friendly and helpful staff. Came in and the owner greet me and my family right away. I wish I could buy the whole store! ^_^

Delicious! I avoided hopia since I was a kid because I didn’t like it. I just wanted ice cream! But I tried it here after X number of years and it’s so good! The best flavors are the Langka(jackfruit) and Buko Pandan(coconut) because the flavor stands out the most. I also like ube, mongo is good but not much flavor, and the pineapple hopia I couldn’t really taste any pineapple flavor. Maybe my taste buds were masked by all the other yummy flavors. Nothing is too sweet either!

Alan, son of the owners, was friendly and courteous. He slipped my friend a whole 1 – 2 free hopias for running out of the freshly baked stock of hopias. Alan informed us that it would take 15 – 20 minutes to bake a fresh batch and offered coffee while we waited. I sampled the fresh ube hopia which are sized a little larger than a silver dollar, had a buttery, warm crust and moist filling. The ube filling wasn’t overly sweet. Although, my favorite is the coconut hopias –a MUST try! NOTE: Day old hopias are sold at a cheaper price and the store open on Sundays(which is advertised incorrectly on Unilocal).

Hopia, manju, whatever you call it. they got it. Their fillings are more on the sticky side and their crust is more on the flaky side. Different places make their fillings and crusts differently so even though a sticky filling and a flaky crust isn’t my preference(I like a flaky filling /shortbread crust), China’s hopias are good for their category of hopias. They have a variety of flavors: pineapple, ube, mongo, langka, baboy. They’re small. For diameter, they’re Oreo sized. This place is popular in the filipino community. My parents ALWAYS bring a to go container full of these little hopias back home when they visit San Diego. So go try one or even buy a dozen of it suits your tastebuds.

I love hopia. I grew up eating baboy and mongo hopia that was wrapped and bought off the shelf. Sometimes my beloved hopia were shaped like dice. And I still loved it. Now imagine my surprise when I first tried Ching’s. Freshly baked, hot hopia?! And in different flavors like ube and langka? Yes, please! Ching’s hopia is yummy! Whether it’s piping hot right out of the oven or baked earlier and out of the warmer, it’s good. Prices are reasonable(3 for $ 1.60; cheaper the more you buy). Cash only.

My boyfriend and I came down 4.5hrs away mainly to buy hopias and to go on a food trip in SD. This place is great! I wanted to try all 6 flavors. Since we we’re purchasing 80 hopias to bring home for our family, I wanted to see which flavors we’d like best. The guy behind the counter gave us all six flavors for free to sample. I thought it was really nice of him. Hands down, this place serves the best hopias I’ve ever had. It’s always freshly baked and delicious. My top three favorites were: Wintermelon(baboy), Ube, and Coconut. We will continue to shop here.

The last time I came here was on Saturday and I overheard a ratchet dude ask his friend what a Hopia was– homie butchered what the beauty and deliciousness of a hopia is by pronouncing it as «hope-ee-yeah»). Ignorance. Get out. Monggo, Ube, Pandan, Pineapple, Langka, Baboy(actually it’s wintermelon and meat-less); they’re all ridiculously delicious! Service is always warm and friendly. I could have sworn I was helped by JoKoy. But beware; bring CASH! On a bright note, Ching’s is the only place who’s hopia will still taste divine the next day, even when cold. The area is super ghetto and some crazy mumbling fool asked me for«a nickel» to pay for his«meds», then said«Happy New Year» as I raced to my car. Mmhmm, «meds». It’s also April. Anyway, Ching’s is a must go when I’m in the San Diego area. This place is the shit!

The best Hopia in town! Located in national city beside the carnival market. This place is cash only but the market next door has an ATM machine. A hopia is a bean filled pastry. The pastries are made fresh daily. I usually buy in bulk 16 pieces for a little less than $ 8. These little pastries come in a variety of flavors like Mongo, Baboy(pork), Ube(taro), pineapple, and winter melon to name a few. The mongo is my favorite! These treats are warm, flaky, and crispy on the outside with moist dense filling on the inside. Their incredible on their own and even better when you get the batch straight out the oven. Their chicken empinadas are also amazing costing you $ 1.60 and their turon is also good. Their hopias are sold in other filipino dessert shops, but why not buy them where they’re made? It’s hands down the best hopia place you’ll ever find.

Their hopia is delicious… Just slightly above room temperature when you first buy em… They are chubby little pastries, flaky crust but totally full of its filling… I’m not big on hopia, but these are probably the only ones I’ll eat :) I like buying directly from this location(to get the freshest possible), but they also sell their hopia at some places in the area…(Like the desserts place in the Chula Vista seafood city) Yummy!

I can’t say if it’s the best hopia in San Diego, but they are really good. Ching’s is located in a sketchy looking strip mall area in National City, but don’t let that fool you. The hopia here is very flaky and comes in a variety of flavors. If it’s your first time, they typically let you sample as many flavors as you want. My favorite flavors are the ube(taro) and lanka(breadfruit). I didn’t care for the pineapple or coconut. The hopia here really reminds me of a local favorite in Hawaii called manju, which is Japanese version of this dessert. One thing to know about this restaurant is they ONLYACCEPTCASH!

Moist Hopia, 6 different flavors: mungo, baboy, ube, pandan, langka, pineapple. Good, but I’ve had better. Maybe it was the empty shelves that did not grab me like how I was expecting it to. Or maybe because the girl at the counter seemed to rush me with my order, hello I was the only customer there, granted I had my mother, brother and son there, but it’s just gonna be one transaction. So anyway, my boy wanted the pork empanada while my mom chose the chicken and my bro wanted the Hopia Hapon. Paid for them and oh, it’s cash only over here. We were lucky to get parking as someone was just driving off. And so like I said above, the Hopia were good, but not so much that will make me want to drive all the way from LA to SD just to get them. If I’m here in these parts again maybe I’ll stop by. Although I can say that I liked the pork empanada the most, the one with chicken flavor was kinda dry. They also sell boba but they ran out of them. I also did not get to try the tamales nor the suman de cassava.

I think this place is the best Hopia place EVER!!! My brother that lives in SD had introduced my family and I to this joint. Ever since then, everytime that my family and I visit SD or if my family from SD will be coming up, I always make sure that they bring me 2 dozens of ube(taro) flavor hopia. Every time that we stop by, the hopia is always baked fresh to m liking. My family or I always buy by the dozens(LoL). I am talking about at least 3 – 5 dozens. 3 to keep and 2 dozens to share :). Other Unilocalers like myself would recommend to taste all the flavors and let it speak to you which is your favorite. they have a bunch of different flavors so please take the risk and try it all.
