Mismanaged Expectations, or, Where are My Shoes? I went on March 8th to buy a pair of shoes. They didn’t have them in stock, but the young woman who was working that day had a pair in the back. They were exactly what I wanted and I had her order them for me. More than a week later, I hadn’t received these shoes. I called the store and spoke to someone. He looked up the order and told me that it hadn’t been filled yet. They were waiting for other stores to fill the order. Well, that wasn’t what I was expecting. He said that four different stores had said no to the order. I asked what would have happened if I hadn’t called and followed up? He told me they would have waited and seen what the next store would do. I asked that he call me either way so I know what was happening. They would call Florida, but he’d need to wait til the store opened. I assured him, Florida was a hour ahead of us and they were already open. My husband followed up with Clarks corporate customer service. They found two stores that had the shoes. They followed up with the same guy I spoke with at their Naperville store. My husband was told the shoes would be overnighted to us. My husband had to call the Naperville store and confirm the order was place. My husband asked that the sales associate I spoke to earlier that day call me. Three days later and I still don’t have my shoes. I didn’t get a phone call. So, once again I took the initiative and followed up. I called the store and asked to speak to the manager. It turns out the same sales person who assisted me on March 8 is the manager.(Sigh). She tracked the shoes. I discovered they aren’t being overnighted as promised, but will come exactly seven days after my phone call… on March 23rd, 15 days after I ordered them. I get we’re just talking about shoes… and shoes i haven’t even tried on yet. But for me this is about keeping promises. I asked why I wasn’t given a follow up phone call as promised. She said she wasn’t sure as «he’s good about calling back.» She offered me a 20% discount on the order. I agreed. I also told her that I seemed to be doing all the work… and they weren’t giving me a lot of incentive to come back to the store. Not when I can order Clarks online through Amazon. You’d better believe Amazon, evil empire that they are, would have had them to me in less than fifteen days. I asked her that in the future, when she needs to place an order for someone that she explain to the customer that the order isn’t really guaranteed, that other stores have to agree to send the order out. I get that these are only shoes. It’s not a life or death situation… but this store has my money and therefore, created a contract with me. and promised things that didn’t happen I did my part and simply expect them to do there’s. Time and time again my expectations were mismanaged. I like Clarks shoes. It’s my go to shoe, and this used to be my go to store. While I appreciate the 20% after the sale discount, I’m not sure Clarks did a lot to make this sale happen. And if I hadn’t called last week to find my shoes, would the order have just been lost in limbo? Not cool.

This is the second time I have purchased a pair of shoes from this clarks location and each time I feel great about the purchase. Every associate that I encounter there has a great attitude and excellent product knowledge. I especially like working with Kim because of her awesome personality and willingness to help. I will be back for several more purchases in the future. I highly recommend the Clarks brand for the comfort and style, and this location for great customer service. Joe

I went to buy a pair of shoes for my birthday. When I asked if I could put a pair of shoes on hold, a man that worked there, who wasn’t even the person taking care of me, mocked me loud enough for the entire store to hear and told me just to buy them online. Nothing is worth that embarrassment.

I have been wearing Clarks for years, and this store is excellent. They had three pairs of my very common size and I didn’t feel rushed at all to pick the one I wanted. I will be returning.

Working in retail I have to have comfortable shoes, but unfortunately they are rarely attractive. I’ve had really great luck with Clarks Indigo brand, as they are really darling but also have incredible pading that I ca walk around work all day with out any pain. But this reason this Clarks gets 5 starts is because of the service, they are always incredibly friendly and helpful and know their merchandise. The manager always remembers me, and because I work downtown Naperville they give me a discount, which I really appreciate. This is one of the few places where you can find comfortable and cute shoes, but i definitely go back there frequently for their service.

I’m a big fan of Clarks shoes to begin with ever since I developed plantar fasciitis. The Privo line of Clarks have this special foot bed that is just so darn comfy and made my little feet feel awesome. I have cured the plantar fasciitis for the most part, but I still love Clarks so as Spring has come, it was time to get some new open toed shoes! I was hounded several times when I first got there, which put me a little on edge, because I like to look ALL around and then choose the shoes and sit down and try them all at once. Once we got that all sorted out, I was able to try on my shoes, order them with pleasant service, get my discount(coupons, woot!) and be on my merry way. They had a good selection of womens, mens and even kid shoes. Lots of space and workers to grab lots of shoes.

The way I see it, why not keep the appendages at the end of your legs happy so they will continue to carry you to all the places you’ve yet to Unilocal? Well, this store will make that happen. I have been buying my shoes here since they first opened. Not only do they have THE most comfortable shoes, they carry shoes for the ENTIRE family, styles have greatly improved, they offer a reward program, and, the latest, try their new walking shoes for 30 days and if you are not happy, bring them back. Will any other shoe store take back worn shoes after 30 days? I think not. Don’t forget to try their socks that have a LIFETIME guarantee. If it develops a hole, bring it back. Again, who else will take back a sock with a hole in it? Knowing all this, I expect you will head over.
