Luke’s of Mundelein

Always good service. The owner works there and it shows.
The new location is bigger and better than the former spot. The food is always good. The Italian Beef, Italian Sausage, or Combo sandwiches are as good as anybody, anywhere. And I’ve tried them all.

Must visit. Casual, cost effective with mouth watering food.

These guys have picked up where the left off. Luke’s had recently relocated to this new location about a year ago which used to be a KFC from there old location which was a miniature golf business. After they had made the move we tried them out and was a little dissapointed at the service. It seamed like they were doing this for the first time and didn’t have a clue.
So I wanted to try them out a couple of times before I write a review to see how things are. I have to say that they are back to normal and have stepped it up. Of course the food which is what you come for is very good. I have had the Italian beef which is a huge sandwich filled with beef and it is very delicious. I have had the Italian sub which was very tasty as well. in fact I don’t know if I have had a better one from any other sub place. The other item that I have had is the Gyro. It’s a filled with a ton, yes I said a ton of meat that is not dry but juicy. My only issue is that the pita bread is kind of small and you can’t really use it the way it was intended. Everything that I have had here I got an order of fries which are very good. They are the small thin fries that you can stuff a couple or more in your mouth at one time.
I’m going to say that Cool Hand Luke’s is back.

Just picked up lunch for my office! Hot Dog Buns STALE! Hot dogs ice cold! I guess the chicken sandwiches were ok! I would not rush back

Love this place still, after years of coming here! They did a smart move by getting into a larger space. They still retain the authenticity of a «neighborhood hot dog stand», but now with more space to sit and a proper parking lot. Gyros sandwiches here are simply the best — I have not had a better gyros sandwich yet.
Keep up the great job guys!

I’m yet to have a bad meal at this joint. From the hot dogs to the combos to the gyros — ask for it well done on the grill — this place is bomb diggity! The fries done crispy are nothing short of addictive. Don’t forget to add a cheese cup on the side.
For the price and quality of food, nothing in the area comes close to beating Luke’s. Keep doin what your doin fellas!

It was a nice place for a hotdog. My personal opinion the fries could have been seasoned a little better. It didn’t take too long to receive my order. Staff was friendly. From what I read the fan favorite pick was the GYRO. I definitely wish I would have tried it. The hot dogs aren’t bad but maybe expected a little more. Maybe I’m just being picky. I would go back if I happen to be in the Chicago area.

The new location of this (basically) hot dog stand is clean and much larger than before. The menu is fairly extensive and they have tons of daily specials. The sub sandwiches are humongous if you order the 12 inch, which they serve as two separately wrapped 6 inch subs. The Italian sub is fairly authentic, down to the peprocini on top. I would recommend ordering only a six inch unless you are famished. On a second visit, the Polish and bratwurst we’re both top notch. Both are chargrilled and served on a proper seeded bun. Staff are cool and efficient, especially that dude right out of the Sixties.

This place is usually hang out place when all my friends come back from college. I’m been coming here for year however the one thing i don’t like is the Italian beef.
It’s aways dry in my opinion. However, the fries always make the meal taste really well. Overall, it’s your average hot dog stand.

Decent fast food place with lots of options. I had the gyros and it was pretty good. They have a good sized eating area, big enough to accommodate all the crazy kid cousins we brought along AND the local track team! I wasn’t wowed so I am giving a 3 star, but would still recommend this place.

Pretty damn good food. Chill spot with a good location. Quick made and made fresh. I got a 12 inch turkey sub and it was pretty damn good. They are also fairly big, 6 inches should be good for most. My buddy got the italian beef which looked bomb and he said is one of his favorites.
If im near by and looking for a bit i will probably be back.

Always great food, usually quicker service. Although they messed up my take out order that was suppose to take 12min, and was ready 30min later… Not a huge deal since they were slammed. But come on, slow it down a bit and read your tickets…

Me and my husband and my parents all love Luke’s of Mundelein. There’s not one bad thing that we don’t like about Luke’s, the food is always good and the staff are always friendly which is a very good thing and the atmosphere inside the restaurant is also wonderful as well and I’m hoping to go to Luke’s again and actually sit outside at the patio tables now that the weather is starting to warm up.

Saturday afternoon visit with my father. He had the Chicago Dog, I had the beef — we shared fries. the beef was very a generous portion, but was lacking in flavor. I added mozzarella and their homemade giardinera — helped quite a bit. The fries wete cooked properly, but frozen type, not the preferred fresh cut. Place was clean and busy, staff was nice. Recommended.

Solid burger joint. Staff is nice. Food is decent, and the price is right. Their recent move down the street is a nice upgrade. Definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for quick, decent food.

Love this place, friendy and respectful staff, attentive and the food is fantastic! My personal favorite is the Grilled Pork Chop Sandwich.

I have been tossing out the mailer coupons for years and have seen plenty from Lukes come across. The one time we decided to stop here after my son’s game, did not have one on hand. Maybe that would have made the experience a bit better, but not by much. Its your typical hot dog stand with frozen purchased fries. The prices are way out of line for the quality and amount of food you get. Don’t get me wrong, they PILE on the fries to make sure you are full, but the char polish is a small, dogs, etc. On top of it, they put ketchup and pickles on it.

Pretty good dog. A bit on the pricey side for hot dogs but, man, you get a ****load of fries with it.

Man I’m crazy for Luke’s :) :) I love their gyros and their home made BBQ sauce. I tried almost everything on the menu and I love love it. Great staff too the owner is pretty nice too.
