Good dogs but an unpleasant sort of place. The owner was yelling at staff the last two times I was there. If I worked there, I would probably quit. Needs a makeover. Good fries, though.

Bought my dad the groupon. He paid $ 18 for two dogs and 6 chicken fingers. Something about«fine print.» He said he’ll never go back. Libertyville resident that will drive on by slots.

I work close, and really wanted to like this. No such luck. Ordered a burger — they asked what I wanted on it. Everything except peppers. GUess what was on it? Peppers. It was a to go order, so I couldn’t exactly voice this issue when I learned of it. Bit into said burger and it was still raw. Not medium… raw. A frozen burger is sad enough without topping errors and undercooked meat. They’re really stingy with ketchup(crappy brand, no packets unless you ask), napkins, etc. Convenience isn’t worth this crap. Never again.

I made a Unilocal account just to write about how bad this place is. Talk about terrible service, you will need to repeat your order 4 times just for them to screw it up in the end. Be sure to double check your food cause odds are they messed it up or forgot to give you something. I highly suggest you do not go here, there are plenty of better hot dog stands out there.

First off the food is mediocre, with so many high quality hot dog places in the Chicago areas, there are so many better options. Most importantly however is the owner is one of the rudest individuals I’ve ever had to deal with when purchasing something. Made my purchase such a bad experience I simply left to go to fodraks down the street. It should be noted also the place is a dump, and if your planning on having to use a bathroom you might as well go to Taco Bell.

I Think I may have been in on a bad day? Possibly new staff, but it seemed very unorganized and poor communication between staff. Hot dog was very mediocre, the tomatoes, were old and chopped, ruined the hotdog. Bathrooms are worse than most gas stations you have been to, and cleanliness seems to be a real issue. The floor of the restaurant was disgusting, greasy and clearly only superficially cleaned on rare occasions. Hit dogs are easy and they should be done on a high level especially in the Chicagoland area this is one I will not soon return for

Went there with the family to see what a hot dog diner was going to be like. Appearence: yes, it is a little rough and dates. This is not Culvers or the McDs next door, but an established business with character. I liked the Galaga video game. Met the owner and he is a nice fella. He is not gonna hug you for buying a meal, but he will chat. Since we were the only ones there at 4, we exchanged pleasantries. Meals are very reasonably priced. We are not natives from Chi area, so the Chi dog is new to us. Very tasty. He was training some new staff and there is a lot of free exchange behind the counter. So what? It’s an open kitchen — no walls. I enjoyed the experience — loved the fries and the sausage. I will be back.

I’ve seen truck stop bathrooms that were cleaner than the kitchen of Slott’s. This use to be the place for the best hot dogs around, but lately they’ve been slinging cold dogs on soggy buns.

Slott’s is a place I frequent often and will continue to do so. I’ve been coming here since 1996 and can’t find a better dog around. I love the celery salt upon request and knowing the dogs are made fresh and not nuked is always a plus. Keep this place in mind and know that a dog isn’t a dog unless it’s a «Slott«dog!

Major fan of local business/mom and pop places with some nostalgia behind them, and this place delivers! Owner was there on a Friday night to take our order, was really pleasant and friendly, despite some trouble loading our $ 10 for $ 20 of food deal. Seems like he runs a tight ship at his restaurant(which I like!) that is exactly as old as… moi! Perfect delivery of hot yummie fries, the chicago style hot dogs on a steamy poppy seed and THECUPOFCHEESE, soooo good :) Would love to see this Libertyville establishment stick around for years to come. Will be back! P.s-I told him I was an avid Unilocaler and he laughed and said, «oh no!» Don’t blame him, the reviews of this place are not as they should be in my opinion…

My wife and I used to go here two or three times a month, so it’s obviously we like the place. One star deducted for somewhat spotty service, and because the owner sometimes parks in the handicap spot.

Great joint for dogs and burgers and then some. They even have a drive-thru! One of the best places to eat in Libertyville hands down. Every time I hit up this joint I always get a dog, mozzarella sticks, and fries. Absolutely delicious. Place is kind of overpriced though, be sure to bring a student ID for a discount.

Food tasted absolutely fine. There was nothing mind boggling about the hot dogs we ate or the menu. The service was not great. It was fast, but there was literally not a hello or a smile or anything, just a money exchange for beef franks. The sad thing is, the person who served us was the owner(which I figured out because there was an older Tribune article that had his picture on it posted on the wall). It’s unfortunate, because hot dog stands are a dime a dozen and I feel like in order to succeed you’ve gotta really knock people’s socks off with the«extras». I was going to give it a three, but honestly, after reading some of the other reviews about the bad Living Social deal as well as the cleanliness(which it definitely did look a little on the dirty /worn in side), I opted for two stars. If you want a hot dog or burger and Slott’s isn’t sounding like your deal, try Fodrak’s. They have a great burger, decent staff(still not extremely friendly, but better), and it seemed clean the few times I’ve eaten there.

Monday-Saturday 4pm-9pm. All day Sunday. No, these aren’t the times I am looking at internet porn. No, these aren’t the times I am stealing money from The Salvation Army. And my goodness no, this isn’t when I’m plastered in front of the TV watching re-runs of How I Met Your Mother and Seinfeld. Wait a second… that last one… But seriously, those times are when you can get a CLASSICCHICAGOHOTDOGFOR $.99! This is a wonderful deal. You don’t need a punch card(I’m looking at you Maxx’s), you won’t be paying full price(Portillo’s), you’ll just need one measly George Washington, and probably a couple little Lincoln’s for tax, to enjoy a loaded hot dog. About once a month, Ashley and I will be thinking about dinner and say«Slott’s?» And IT. IS. ON. *wink* That’s a HIMYM reference if you didn’t catch it. There are also Unilocal reviews on the walls of Slott’s too, so go check them out and write something nice!

When you’re in the mood for a cheap delicious dog, this is the place to be! .99 cent dogs!!! WHAAAAAAAAAAAT??? Mike and I stopped in before a movie and grabbed 3 hot dogs, and a small fry and it was under $ 6!!! He’s a cheap date :) The hot dogs reminded me of ball park dogs, but were much better priced. I’ll defnitely be visiting this hot dog stand again!

Like a previous poster… we had the Living Social deal($ 20 of food vouchers). Basically, the kid(cashier) wouldn’t let us use the vouchers(we had two, $ 10 each) together, or even separately. I asked if he would make the exception since we didn’t live in the area, it was our first time coming, etc. He refused. He then limited us on what we could order(high value items were off the menu, which made zero sense) and we couldn’t utilize the vouchers on the 8 – 10 «meal deals», forcing us to use the«a la cart» menu, which, by my quick calculations would increase our cost by 25%…simply because we were using the vouchers, instead of regular currency. (sidenote, to the folks that set this deal up with Living Social, at the very least, you should have let the customer know the fine print, before customers forked over the cash to buy the vouchers in the first place). After asking for a manager to work something out, the cashier told me he wasn’t available. So, I took the near-useless vouchers back and I took my hungry 5-year old elsewhere. I can’t say anything about the food, cause we didn’t experience anything.

Slots is a modest place with about nine tables, where one may buy, in addition to Vienna hot dogs on a steamed poppy-seed bun, gyros, sausages, tamales, etc. Service was not particularly welcoming or upbeat, but at least it was timely. The hot dog I had, though it lacked the customary electric green pickle relish that is characteristic of Chicago dogs, was good. Fries were very good. I initially was going to issue three stars for my Slots experience, though as an employee pulled down a film shade on a West-facing window within about two and a half feet of me, I noted that it was splattered and smeared with what appeared to be ketchup and milkshake. It was gross and unappetizing, and it could have been effortlessly corrected with a shot or two of window cleaner on any day that the sun set in the West; any day. Considering Slots lack of attention to the obvious, and evident disregard for cleanliness, appearance and their customers’ experience, I will not return, and I also would not, could not recommend Slots to others; one star’ «Methinks not.» One can easily get just as good or better food for about the same money in a place that has a much cleaner appearance.
