The food is great here — fresh, delicious and it’s quick. The staff is super-friendly and the restaurant is very clean and filled with light. I now find myself coming here 2−3x/week it’s so good. Great for meat lovers AND vegetarians too. Can’t say enough good things — one of my very favorites.

The Chipotle of Mediterranean cuisine. But without the ecoli. Clean, well run, very healthy and delicious. They also have homemade mint yogurt, tamarind and mint lemonade drinks. I had the steak shwarma with pita bread. Hummus and all the healthy fixins. I’ll be back when I’m around this area again.

I really enjoyed my visit here. As other reviewers have mentioned, service comes with a smile, and the food is an excellent value. The number of options outweigh Chipotle’s by a small margin, but I wouldn’t say Sajj is as filling dollar for dollar, pound for pound. I got the shawarma wrap and thought the spicing on everything was just right. My hummus was the right texture, tahini subtle, and the cilantro chutney had a nice brightness and kick to it. I couldn’t get into the soup, which was under seasoned and on the watery side. If it costs the same, I think maybe giving a free dollop of hummus or something would add appeal to the meal. I’m excited to try the pomegranate chicken next!

Mediterranean, Chipotle style, without the diarrhea! What’s not to love? I recommend the bowls for a filling and inexpensive meal.

Fantastic food! Think of it as a deliciously healthy Mediterranean version of Chipotle, with a staff that eager to see that you’re pleased. This time, I had the steak shawarma and beef kabob rice bowl. It was wonderfully seasoned; but it’s the other fresh toppings that really set this place apart. Pro tip: if you don’t know exactly what you want, try them all! Top it off with pita chips(made in house) with some hummus!!!

This was my first visit to this place Jan 21st and I ordered chicken shawarma in a rice bowl. The quantity of rice and chicken was pretty good. The other options were at no extra charge. Good quantity for the price. It is like a chipotle for Mediterranean food. The best boy downside was that the flavor of chicken was pretty average. The chicken was a bit on the bland side.

Came here to pick up dinner over the weekend and it was good but nothing to rave about. I had the pomegranate chicken with the rice bowl. The chicken was good and tender. I usually get steak but it looked really dry. It looked like most people ordered their chicken or falafel. Overall it was okay but after several bites I got tired of it. The hummus is very smooth but had no flavor. I got a free(very generous) bag of pita chips for checking in but it was so greasy I could only have a couple before feeling gross. One thing we really liked were the fries! Also, service was very friendly.

I had a falafel rice bowl with cauliflower, eggplant, and a little bit of everything else. The falafel was a little tough, but you can’t beat their friendliness and customer service. They have good toppings like beets, caulflower, pickled veggies, hummus, garilc sauce, cilantro chutney etc. and its very reasonable. I’ll be back to try their chicken. I would recommend any customer service person come and learn how to keep customers happy from the owner of this place.

As described in other reviews, Mediterranean fare served chipotle style is definitely accurate. I had a falafel rice bowl with cauliflower, eggplant, and a little bit of everything else. There were a surprising number of toppings to choose from and it definitely filled up the bowl for a very filling meal. There’s definitely a lot of value here! Now the downsides… I wasn’t impressed with the falafel. It has a thick skin to it… like a tangerine. Maybe it was cooked too long? Had I not been in a veggie sort of mood I definitely would have gone for some of the meats. What I saw looked pretty tender! The lentil soup was so depressingly bland. Like a cloudy day in California. Oh summer, how I miss you so! But everything else was good and I got my free pita chips with check in! Nicely seasoned and freshly made in-house! It added just enough color for the rest of my day! :)

My favorite new go-to in the Palo Alto area for a quick lunch. Everything I’ve tried is equally delicious and for $ 14 you’ll leave full.

We were driving around the area, doing errands, it’s 7 pm and we are starving! Of Course I UnilocalED and found this great joint. As you come in, you are requested to go the starting line and read instructions. 1) choose your base/carb option — I chose salad bowl. 2) choose your protein– I chose steak. 3) then all the other fixing come with it. Your choice to have it added or not. I chose to have them add the cauliflower and the eggplant. Both are so delicious I had to order them on the side as well for to go. The cauliflower is flavored with SUMAC which is my new spice discovery and fav 4) avocado/guan is added charge but who cares? They put two hefty good scoops of the good fat. Why not right? 5) choice of dressing? Spicy tahini pls! 6) pita chips — a must. And your meal comes with free lentil soup which tastes super good. The soup was so good I had to order a bowl for my lunch tomorrow. You can have soda and other beverages but I chose the tea as it was a chilly night. My meal choice was perfect. Thanks to this joint, I left the place very satisfied. I will definitely come back for the falafels. They looked good.

Chipotle-style Mediterranean food! i.e. fast and customizable to the minutia to satisfy the pickiest of eaters. Prices are reasonable at $ 8.95 for the chicken: around the same as MV’s Southeast Asian Chipotle Srasa and a bit more than the OG Chipotle. That being said, don’t come expecting the same caliber as succulent secret-recipe kebabs and organic roasted vegetables over fragrant saffron rice at authentic Mediterranean restaurants. Yes, it’s kinda cafeteria style and the various flavors in the bowl don’t necessarily synergize the same way as upscale fine dining, but it’s the hodgepodge of delicious and(relatively) healthy ingredients that makes«fast food» à la Chipotle awesome. My staple: — Chicken shawarma: Satisfying grilled chicken P: — Yellow rice: I had so much hummus et al. mixed in, it’s hard to judge the rice itself. In any case, I would highly recommend despite my pseudo-low-carb diet since it goes great with everything — Cauliflower: So good! Tastes slow-cooked since it’s almost melt-in-your-mouth soft — Sumac onions: Sumac is an interesting purple spice that’s not too well known(yet). However the onions are raw, spicy, and pungent; I think sweet and/or cooked onions would be much better (Skip the garbonzo beans; it looks like canned beans sitting in way too much water) — Hummus, tzatziki, garlic cream: Perhaps my favorite part of the bowl! Hearty and pairs very well with the shawarma — Mixed greens, arugula, beets, jalapeño: This is how I can pretend to be healthy eating here! The flavors are a bit out of place compared to the rest of the bowl, especially since arugula, beets, and jalapeño all taste rather strong and distinct — Cilantro chutney: I personally think cilantro blends well with everything, though those with the cilantro-tastes-like-soap gene may beg to differ They pile all the ingredients into a huge bowl and it’s on you to mix it up. I usually eat it as is, because the veggies are on top and I like being rewarded with the chicken shawarma & yellow rice towards the bottom. I was going to take cross-section pictures since the top is unrepresentative of the interior, but it was so tasty that I forgot. You also get a free side of lentil soup. The soup itself is alright, but the housemade pita chip accompaniment was definitely a highlight – amazing contrast of creamy and salty, and the ingenious thickness of the chip allows it soak up considerable soup without going soggy. Reminds me of my childhood obsession with saltine crackers dipped in clam chowder, only better engineered and more sophisticated.

Why must you be so fluffy pita bread? Why??? Some good pita can do wonders for a meal, and the soul. Okay, this isn’t deep dive soul sista Friday. Back to the pita. It wasn’t warm, but it was that fluffy sorta pita that you just can’t stop eating because it’s so fluffy and pull-apart, fresh. Even some of the best falafel places serve their great stuff on stale pita, which is always a shame. Three stars for the pita. Or more like two and a helping. Here’s the not so nice. Dishes(work catering): — The rice. Meh. Kind of clumpy, yellow rice with mild flavor. — Entrees were falafels(I know hate me. I really, really, really wasn’t in falafel mood so I didn’t try them. Huge falafel balls… wedges…they weren’t circular.) And for meat eater beef and chicken kabobs. — Mixed greens. Greens. They were mixed. Or not. One will never know. — Hummus. I did not like this hummus. It just didn’t taste right. Kind of paste-like and lacking the usual richness. — Babaghanoush. Add it to the list of things I didn’t like. It didn’t have the usual richness and was kind of watery. — Tabouleh with quinoa. It was fine. The tomatoes were tasty, but didn’t seem to have much seasoning or dressing otherwise. — They also offered some pickles and sauces. I wish they had more toppings offerings, besides just the sauces. Maybe some beets or smoky eggplant. If you wanted to load up your pita to make a falafel wrap or something, you were kind of out of luck. Whatever, I’m a simple girl. I had my pita, I’m good to go. If you wanted much else beyond, like standout hummus or baba, I’d check out elsewhere.

Inexpensive, fast service, lots of food, and(best of all) right next to my work! The coveted quadfecta. It’s a Chipotle-style Mediterranean place, but with even more options for veggies and toppings. Tip #1: Lots of lot parking! Tip #2: Eggplant and cauliflower are AMAZING. Overall: You will leave happy and stuffed.

Good, not great. I, perhaps unfairly, compared Sajj in my head to two similar places I used to go to in other states(Garbanzo in CO and Roti in IL). The flavours here were okay. On the plus side, you get a massive portion. My friend and I were beyond stuffed. I was also impressed that the soup was included, but I didn’t have room in my stomach for it. I had a spoonful and realized that wasn’t actually a problem(it wasn’t that tasty). All in all, I would be back, but I’m not sure when. The other two restaurants I mentioned had a magnetic pull on me, and I struggled to resist them. I’d have to kick and push myself back to Sajj(because there’s a heck of a lot of other options around here, not to mention within a 50ft radius of this place).

Company catered lunch from here and it was decent. Steak Shawarma, Pomegranate Chicken, beef kabob were juicy and flavorful. I also enjoyed the Hummus Spread and Arugula salad. Recommended :)

Bottom line at the top: really dope! – Middle eastern style chipotle! All of the meats are really good and they even have fesenjoon(pomegranate chicken). Skip the lentil soup and baklava and just stick with the bowls!

Solid no-frills mediterranean dinner, think of this as the Chipotle for your saffron rice fix. Service is friendly and the food is good. Ambience: 3.5 stars Service: 4 stars(although no waiter, don’t think it’s a fancy sit-down place) Food: 4 stars I’ve had both the Sajj Wrap and the Rice Bowl with the pomegranate chicken and they were both very satisfying. The order I had today was on point, so I’ll write it here: Rice bowl, Pomegranate chicken, Eggplant topping, hummus, onions, beets. If you order that and don’t like it, feel free to send me a note here on Unilocal and I’ll update this review to acknowledge that, but seriously, explain why.

I love Chipotle-style/build-your-own places, especially ones with healthy options! The food here is tasty and the ingredients are all fresh. There’s even calorie info on the menu. Easy build-your-own concept: –Pick your«entrée» — falafel, chicken or steak shawarma, shawafel(falafel and shawarma) or pomegranate chicken –Pick your base — wrap, pita, salad bowl or rice bowl –Pick your toppings — greens, arugula, roasted cauliflower, eggplant ragout, garbanzo beans, tomato & cucumber mix, sumac onion, pickled cabbage, pickles, beets, cherry peppers(feta and avocado are an extra $ 1) –Pick your sauces — tahini, spicy tahini, hummus, tzatziki, garlic cream, cilantro mint chutney All orders are served with a small cup of lentil soup. The soup was nothing special, but I liked the single pita chip in it. Check in on Unilocal to get a free order of pita chips! They were apparently out of those when I went, but the staff offered me pita bread instead. The pita wasn’t anything special either. Store-bought probably, but it was nice warmed up. I got the CHICKENSHAWARMA($ 8.50) in a salad bowl and added all the free toppings except the eggplant and garbanzo beans. The portion size(for both meat and veggies) is pretty reasonable, especially for the price, and my bowl, despite being a salad bowl, was very filling. The chicken was moist and flavorful, and I liked all the toppings I had. I had a strange combination of flavors(roasted, fresh and pickled veggies), but it worked for me. I especially enjoyed the roasted cauliflower. The cilantro mint chutney is good too! I wouldn’t say Sajj is close to authentic Mediterranean, but it’s quick, fresh, healthy and affordable!
