While travelling with a couple of «non beer drinkers» they weren’t really keen on the ordering process, but really, to me it didn’t seem like that big of a deal. It had a wonderful down home vibe, despite the fact it was in a strip mall. The pizza was good, I’ve had lots, and I would rank it in the top 25%. Favorite feature, drinking beer under the moon at a sweet little table.

We have been going to Salty for over 2 years. Loved $ 3 beer night, the kids playing in the maze and ok pizza. Tonight was it for is, the grumpy beer guy did us in. I will never spend another $$$ in Salty Caper. We will miss you Salty, looks like Ultimate Ales is where we will be. Thanks for the good run!

The Salty Caper Lake Norman has the best pizza around. The wood burning brick oven pizza can’t be beat! The Lovely is one of my favorites and I also love their Daily special creations! The casual, laid back atmosphere is just what I’m looking for on a Friday night. It does tend to get packed after 6pm on Friday and Saturday nights so it pays to get there early. The staff is absolutely awesome! The beer on tap selections are always new and exciting. This is one of my weekly go to spots.

Good options for different pizza’s and the everything always comes out hot and fresh. The crust ends up super crispy from the wood fired oven which i really enjoy overall I highly recommend it. I usually do take here and head over to Ultimate Ales next door to drink beer. Nothing against there Beer selection just a little date my wife and I enjoy. I love seeing what the special of the night is its usually very creative and has been extremely tasty on every occasion that i have tried it. They have a great draft beer selection so you find something for everyone’s taste.

The menu is somewhat limited to Pizza, Calzones and Salads but they do have a very extensive beer list. All of the pizza and Calzones are had tossed and cooked in a wood fired oven over in the corner where you can watch the whole process. Ordered an Italian Calzone which is Mozzarella and Proscuito) for dinner. Could not get Sweet Tea so ended up settling for Sprite. Made from scratch but ready in under 15 minutes and very flavorful and piping hot. The Marinara on the side was excellent wiht that fresh tangy taste. Ambiance is more like something right out of college where while the food was good, they had better have a extensive beer selection which they do have. Really it’s more of a taproom with a good restaurant inside. They also have a sense of humor. When I got home an looked at my reciept, it said the name of my server was«Pizza Pimp»

This was my second time and it’s been about a year since I’ve been. Second time service sucked and it was when they opened up. Soggy pizza is like a soggy burrito you just don’t have that. These days seems like people don’t care but looks like I will not be coming back. Be grateful for the tip which I did leave just so you can sleep at night. One star just because the girlfriend said to.

The pizza has always been wonderful every time I’ve gone. They have a rotating craft beer list and the staff has always been friendly.

Came here for first time. Slowest service I have ever encountered. If you need to be somewhere and want a quick bite don’t come here. I am still waiting for food after 40 minutes… one pizza… really!!! Can’t tell you if the food is any good. Won’t be back!

Excellent pizza and unique tasty bread sticks, reminded me a little of funnel cake dough. Ordered 3 pizzas tonight(the famine, tex mex, and hawain), crust is thin and crunchy, great tasting flavor fully sauce and made in their wood fire oven. Best pizza I’ve hade in the lake Norman area.

Not sure what took me so long! This is the best pizza I’ve had since I moved to the area. I had a small Greek and, although I planned to bring some home, my son and I ate it all! Not good for the calorie count maybe but it was so good! The crust was perfection. My son had a calzone and he loved it too! Salty Caper has a great craft beer selection and a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. We loved watching the pizza makers toss dough as well! Great place.

finally a GREAT pizza this side of Mooresville! Salty Caper has a fantastic casual atmosphere, the food is great and the selection of beer is equally great. I should have Unilocaled about this when they opened but I wasn’t Unilocaling yet… Salty is definitely a place to go enjoy a great pizza, great atmosphere and great beer. I highly recommend.

Came here for a casual night to grab a few drinks and catch up with some friends I hadn’t seen in a long time. I thought everyone who worked there was very nice and professional. There was a very nice young man with a shaved head who helped me find the right draft beer for me and even let me sample a couple. He was really nice asking me what I usually drink and then gave me his recommendation based on that. I don’t think they list the beer prices on the board which would have been appreciated. We tried 3 pizzas the lovely the TeX mex and the pepparoni. The lovely was by far the best. This is thin crust pizza which is great because that means you can eat more then you usually would!

A weekly staple in our family. Great pizza. Friendly staff. Awesome craft beers. The salty caper pie with thick cut bacon is our favorite.

Salty Caper offers a great atmosphere. There are plenty of seats inside and they offer seating outside too. The bar is nice, as it offers a variety of beers on tap. I started off with the Sgabei, which comes with their pesto and tomato sauce. You can tell both are made in-house and were really good. The pesto was light and fresh. I would recommend you order a batch before your meal. The pizza that I ordered was the Hawaiian. Pizza’s start form $ 11 and go up. Some sounded good, but the price just didn’t fit with the product. The crust was really good. You can tell they put a lot of effort into making their crust. It’s a thinner styles which allowed the crust to get burnt, but that’s how a wood oven pizza should be! Overall the crust was great. The sauce was good too. My only issue were the toppings. I wasn’t a big fan of their ham or pineapples. Not sure if they were fresh or came out of a can. There was something about them, hard to explain. But, the cheese, sauce and crust allowed me to enjoy the pizza. I’ll have to try a different pizza next time. Overall, the atmosphere and food was good. It’s a great location and i’ll be up to enjoy a beer and a different pizza.

Salty Caper is an excellent choice if you like freshly made thin crust pizza. There is both specialty and build your own pizzas. Be prepared to wait and hang out by the bar or outside. They have a good selection of craft beers and I would suggest sampling a few before you order. You will also want to order the Sgabei, breadsticks with pesto while you wait. The atmosphere is very casual and kid friendly. The larger the group the better! More opportunity to share and try things.

We absolutely love the Salty Caper! Be prepared to spend some time before your meal arrives because everything is made fresh and it takes a while for it to bake, but it is worth the wait! And since the craft beer selection is outstanding, you have a nice way to pass the time! Be sure to order sgabei while you wait for your pizza. It’s strips of fried pizza dough and you get marinara and pesto to dip. They are ridiculously good! We are partial to the Margherita pizza and The Lovely. Although the make your own custom pies are fun too. There are a wide variety of toppings including some that you don’t find at a NY pizza place(smoked Gouda, feta, baby spinach, capers, etc.) When you’re done, treat yourself to Fritti — a mini calzone wrapped around a snickers bar and deep fried. It is so wrong that it’s right!

I crave this place… First couple times, I was just okay with it. We did take out or sat outside on the patio. It was good but not great. Then I started hanging out inside. Wow! Love this place. First of all, their beer is awesome. Don’t bother with anything else. Want wine? Go to the Wine Maestro across the parking lot. This place is a serious beer place. Dennis is the most awesome guy working there(or at least the guy I chat with most). Tell him what you like and he’ll set you up with a sample or two. Love their IPAs. Now lets talk pizza. It’s not a take-out place. I mean, you CAN take it out but you’ll only have about 8 minutes before it peaks. This pizza needs to be handled with care. It’s not Dominos. It has a very small window of amazingness. Eat it too early — burn your mouth. Wait too long — crunchy. There’s a moment of perfection with this pizza when it hits the right temperature. At that point, dive in! Try their specials and sample their beers. It’s a great place to spend the evening.

The Salty Caper is a high-end brick oven pizza place. They have a location in Salisbury as well. There are TONS of beers here on tap and by the bottle & the place is decorated with signs for many more. While I was waiting for my pizza order, a couple walked in and the owner(manager maybe?) walked right up to them with a gigantic bottle of beer he said he knew they liked, poured them a couple of glasses and offered to keep the bottle cold for them until they needed a refill. This all without them even being in the door a full minute. Benefits of being a regular! The pizzas were quite delicious although I thought quite pricey($ 23 for my delicious 16-inch«The Lovely» pizza). I’ve not had many brick oven-baked pizzas to compare it to, but it was indeed delicious! Overall, it looked like a great place to go for pizza and beer, but be prepared to pay a little bit more than your casual pizza place.
