I am a fan because it is the only fast food Filipino place, that I know of, in Modesto and every city needs more than one… so I don’t want to loose the only one we have. I know it’s not totally authentic, but we have to start somewhere and this is where we are… Modesto has to catch up to the Great Food Wave eventually. right?! And I love JoJo the owner.

ASIANTRIPLECONFUSION Filipino Combo Plate: 1)The Lumpia Shanghai are very good and made the standard filipino way. Very tasty with a nice crunch, then the taste of the pork comes thru. The orange dipping sauce is good. 2)The Pancit was made with noodles and plenty of little slivers of veges. With a dash of lemon, it gave the the right of amount of tartiness to be savory. It was good & filling. 3)The«Chicken Adobo» was probably Americanized by the requests of the idiot customers, to have virtually no vinegar at all. It was not Adobo, but more like«Chicken I-DON’T-KNOW». It had a strange fried texture with a teriyakish sauce. I know that the Filipino cooks & owners, know how to make the real thing, but it would not sell. The CRETINSOFMODESTO strike again! BTW– I was going to try the Adobo at Surla’s, but I was smart enough to ask if it was toned down for the locals. The unfortunate answer was in the affirmative, and I did not want to pay $ 17 for a $ 5 watered down dish. Pros: +nice & clean place. +very nice owners/cooks. +great homemade style Lumpia Shanghai. +good Pancit. +udon soup & some Japanese. +cheap prices. Cons: –unfortunately has to Americanize ethnic food. –take out fast food style dining. –many Cretins eat here. Overall: 3 Stars. CRETINSOFMODESTO: –1,038,098,334,987,999 Stars Note: I understand that since they cannot do well here selling authentic ethnic food, they will move back to the Bay Area after their lease is up. I am sure that they will do well there, and Modesto will lose what little ethnic food diversity it has. Very sad!

I had been looking for a good teriyaki chicken bowl ever since we moved to the Modesto area and I finally found it! OndiJo is awesome! The chicken bowl is all breast meat and super juicy and tender. I also highly recommend the veggie tempura and the lumpia. If you haven’t ever heard of lumpia, they are kind of like an egg roll, but so much better. The employees are the nicest I have ever encountered and the restaurant is always clean. Everything is cooked to order and hot and fresh. I highly recommend OndiJo!

I have loved lumpia since I first tasted it in high school. The co-owner, JoJo is really Filipino, and this is evident in the food. I chatted with him and learned that he is a chef. This also shows in the flavor and presentation of the food. The dipping sauce for the lumpia is delicious. I like to order the 25 piece lumpia for just $ 6, and get an extra cup of dipping sauce. My wife loves shrimps, but is very picky. The shrimp tempura is excellent! I have paid $ 25 for the same thing at a restaurant on McHenry– but it was oily there. The dipping sauce is also top-notch. My wife requests this every time we eat at OndiJo. The dining area is very clean. The kitchen is plainly visible. You can see them cooking the food. It is also clean. My wife and I really like this restaurant. It is now one of our regular places.

The Lumpia saves this place. I would go back for some lumpia. Everything else we had was just not good. Edible but in a salty, MSG kind of way. The chicken teriyaki, bland and boring. The adobo, the chicken was tender but a little dry and the sauce was just ok. Spicy noodle stir fry, spicy yes. Good, no. Veggie tempura not good. Seemed like the oil maybe wasn’t hot enough. The veggies were undercooked and soggy/greasy. Soup, tasted like that chicken bullion dried stuff. Salad, like a chinese chicken salad, it was okay. The food is all served in takeout styrofoam boxes, bad to eat from and bad for the earth. The utensils are all plastic and the drinks are in styrofoam cups. This place needs to step it up a little bit. Is it too much to ask for real plates and silverware?

Okay, so my first time here. Came here expecting a lunch rush, but didn’t seen one. Place had 3 diners in it – maybe they just come for take out? I don’t know, but I will try. I ordered the Filipino Combo Special — which included 5 pieces of lumpia, pancit and chicken adobo. Meh! I hate to use that word, but it was just Meh. If you don’t know what that means, let me use English — it wasn’t very good. I heard the use of microwave ovens in the back and sadly, when the meal came out — that is what they used. The pancit was okay, but seemed to be old. It was hot, yes, but not fresh. Same with the chicken adobo. Also, it was a bit too sweet for me. Trust me when I say I know good Adobo — I was in the Navy for 12 years and we had Filipino cooks! I know good adobo, and this was NOT it. Now, to be fair — the On-D-Rolls were amazing! Fresh, hot, tasty — lets see what words I might have left out. I would come here again, just to get those lumpia! and the sauce? fresh, tasty, yum! Okay, so… overall my meal wasn’t *that* great but the lumpia made up for a 1 star meal. I’ve never given a 1 star meal before because usually SOMETHING saves it – in this case, it was the lumpia. Had I just did the lumpia, it would have been 4 stars.

The lumpia rocks! flavorful little finger size crispy egg rolls filled with ground meat, garlic, and incredible spices. Their dipping sauce is a spicy sweet compliment to the lumpia. My office gets the 50 pack of lumpia once a week, we all just eat it right up. We had them cater lunch a couple of times, the chicken adobo and pancit are a big hit in our office as well. They delivered our catered lunch and supplied all the plates and flatware.

Order the food to go! The staff is nice, but everything is on plastic or either in to go boxes. The food wasn’t bad. We order the chicken adobo, rib eye teriyaki and their combo soup. The chicken was great and so were it’s sides that came with it. As for the rib eye teriyaki there was too much fat on it, now I don’t mind some fat but when there is fat in most of the bites it’s terrible. The combo soup was great but would have been better if I didn’t have to eat it with a plastic spoon and ask for a bowl. As I said before the food wasn’t bad and I will be coming back ordering to go.

This restaurant has a great fusion of the food I like, Japanese & Filipino. I have tried almost everything on their menu and I have yet to find something that I don’t like. The Filipino Combo meal is pretty great. It has really tasty Chicken Adobo, Pancit that is always moist and never dry, and Lumpia Shanghai. I love Lumpia shanghai, its my favorite! Oh and it’s also served with steamed rice. The Stirfry Noodles are super tasty. Its interesting how a sauce that is mostly made up of apples, carrots, dates and onions can translate into Noodle perfection. The restaurant is clean and never seems to be packed, but maybe thats because a lot of people do phone in orders. I on the other hand enjoy the customer service, the vibrant colors on the walls, and the cleanliness of the restaurant. The location is a little hard to find because it is tucked away behind Taqueria San Jose and Popeye’s Chicken.

I was really excited to go this restaurant. I love Japanese food and also have some Filipino relatives and enjoy some of those dishes as well(why lie, it’s the lumpia that I love) We got there, the place is really, really clean and the girl who took our order was really sweet. We both ordered Teriyaki chicken and some Lumpia. We sat down and a few minutes later were given a salad and soup. Our food came out shortly after and we were both a little surprised. The Teriyaki chicken was a thigh(still on the bone) and drumstick with a sauce over top. The sauce was cold and the chicken was only luke warm. The lumpia was not a favourite either, whenever I’ve had it there has been a lot more vegetables in them and this was mostly just pork/meat and not really to my liking. Neither my friend, nor myself ate much of the food(we left hungry and went to the Yogurt Mill which was fantastic, even though getting to it was a little interesting). I give two stars — one for store cleanliness and another for the girl taking our order.

I noticed Ondijo because of the banner that read«Filipino and Japanese food» and I knew I had to stop by because I like Filipino food. Their chicken adobo is OK because it tasted too much of vinegar but their lumpia is really good. Their meals come with alot of items, you get more than what you pay for. Like the chicken adobo comes with two pieces of chicken, steamed rice, soup, and steamed veggies. The restaurant is a few months old so its really clean and pretty. The employees are also nice. Overall its a good restaurant.

I think this place is really good. My mom and I shared the tempura platter and we were both very happy. The tempura itself was really good and the platter had a good variety of food. We also tried the lumpia and it was tasty as well. I will be going back for more.

This is a great addition to Modesto. They have Filipino food and Japanese dishes. The specials are the stand outs — a roll called«lumpia,» which is a blend of beef, pork and vegetables, is totally addictive. Very crisp, not greasy — yummy! The service is super friendly. Right behind Taqueria San Jose. Good hours, too — open until 9:30 pm every day but Sunday. They also have a teriyaki rib-eye cheesesteak sandwich, which i can’t wait to try. Prices are affordable. On Saturdays they have special Filipino noodles called pancit. I am so glad I checked this place out. I’m definitely going back. The owner said all the veggies are fresh, not frozen, and he always serves seasonal vegetables. There were asparagus in my rice bowl and the teriyaki sauce had a surprising flavor.
