Had the fried chicken dinner, around 14 bucks. It came with one side, which i chose the clam chowder and they charged an extra buck for. It was in a tiny cup. The chicken was very good, but was disappointed for the price it didn’t come with more. My husband had the fish and chips, It was around 15 bucks and charged an extra 3 bucks for his cup of chowder. It was very good, but it only came with 2 medium size pieces, small amount of coleslaw and a few fries. The idea of this place seemed well inspired, but the menu does need some upgrading!

Very good hometown place that has stepped up their game! Their Coach’s Corner burger is fantastic! I love the memorabilia around and locals hanging out to have a beer on draft. Service is great with take out too. I’ll ask next time for no salt or lite salt. It was a little heavy for me. It’s just a great place with a family vibe. You could take the kids and catch the game while you have some delicious comfort food.

Delicious hamburgers. Friendly service. Large portions… Also had fried chicken which was yummy except one piece did not have any meat on it– must have been a back piece.

I always come here with my dad, one of his favorite spots. I have only tried the steak sandwich which is really good. The servers are nice, just wish they had more of a selection on drinks.

I would say that this is the best chicken I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a lot. It’s called Broasted but it’s like fried chicken but better. I had the chicken and spaghetti and the sauce was delicious! Service was fast as we ate early and the server was very polite.

Buyer beware… if you opt for take out, you’ll be charged for it. Or at least the container. It’s only $ 0.25PERCONTAINER, which is nothing, but to pass that on to the customer who’s already spending money at the establishment is ridiculous. That’s the price of doing(take-out) business. And the chicken… just average.

Went here for lunch. Was not happy with the cook. We ordered a patty melt and it was undercooked for my wife’s liking. We sent it back to the kitchen. We at first thought they just microwaved the returned food, which would have been almost as bad as what they actually did. The cook took the hamburger patty off the bread and put it back on the griddle(as told by the waitress). What kind of cook takes food that someone has eaten off of and places it back on a grill? We will never return to this place solely based on this.

I had to pull up the Unilocal app before I finished my burger. First, because I’m amazed and second, because it was too big to finish. I’ve lived in town a couple years and never noticed this lil corner spot. I’m glad I found it on Unilocal today. They don’t have an online menu so I called and got some suggestions from the employee who answered. She didn’t seem annoyed that I blindly wanted a Togo order and had no idea of what they served. She went over some menu items and suggested the Coach’s Burger. I got home with it and it was packaged nicely with a foil divider between the meat and bun. It kept the bun fresh and it kept its just grilled crisp on the inside. I have to say it was the best burger I’ve had in my life. Tomatoes were not fresh, but even after I removed them, the burger still rocked.

I had their fried chicken — WOW! I will now exclusively order this. This is saying a lot because(A) I usually like to try different things on the menu(B) I am not one who likes fried chicken. Just have it and you will be so happy.

First a little background: My first«real job», though an under-the-counter type situation was working on a small homestead farm on the outskirts of Stockton, CA on weekends, and a few times a week during the summer. One of my main responsibilities was cleaning the chicken coops. I tell you, I think the Chicken is the only animal that can take one pound of food, and convert it to two pounds of waste. After that, I made a vow, that I would eat chickens into extinction, if possible. If a dish has chicken in it, I will eat it, and eat lots of it. When someone asks me what my favorite kind of chicken is, I reply, «dead.» But my favorite type of chicken preparation to eat? Well that has a trademarked term for it: BROASTED. So, having recently-ish relocated to Modesto, I relied on Unilocal to find where I could get Broasted Chicken in Modesto. Coach’s Corner is the the result known to Unilocal. So, recently when I picked up someone for a date, she did not have any preference as to where to eat, and Broasted Chicken sounded pretty darn good. So I pressed the«directions» button here on Unilocal, and allowed the dulcet tones of my phone’s synthetic voice guide me to the place. Well close. The place is quite literally tucked away in the corner of the small shopping center in which it is located. Many of the shops are vacant, and well, we did not know what to expect. The façade has that 1960s stone wall thing going on for it, I love the retro look of it all, but then it might lead one to believe that the place might be run down or not modern inside. This is not the case, like at all. Inside, we are greeted with an immaculately clean dining area, with nice table cloths and place settings, and a full bar, with I am sure are some regulars sitting at it. It is small, but the feeling is more«cozy» than«undersized». There are helmets and other depictions of athletics as décor, which is alright, I am not a fan of sportsball myself, but it is tastefully done, and not a distraction to non-sports fan. The food, well the Broasted chicken, in one word: Perfect. I look forward to going again, which will actually be as soon as I get ready to do so as soon as I hit save. My sweetheart and I had a hell of a day, and it’s time to unwind, and I think Broasted Chicken at Coach’s Corner is JUST the way to do it.

The closest establishment to a «Cheers» bar that Modesto has to offer. With an eclectic array of regulars mingling with the social lunch or dinner crowd, you get a sense that most of the clientele are loyal customers. Known for their broasted chicken, other items on the menu are delicious as well. I had the Coach’s Burger this time and it was AMAZING! So big and tasty! You have to try the clam chowder on Fridays and the Prime Rib on the weekends. Servers are personable and the bartender will have your drink practically waiting for you when she sees you coming in. I guess being a «regular» has its perks!

Used to like this place. Not so much now. Wine in dirty glass which the surly barmaid just poured into a clean one. Yuk! Food just ok. Server untrained. Didn’t bring setups, no water, didn’t ask about coffee or dessert. Probably won’t go back

Stumbled upon this place based off the Unilocal reviews, and even though the food was mediocre, nothing stood out to us EXCEPT the 3 tables in the entire place and a few guys sitting at the bar. All who made it seem like WE had interrupted their social gathering. From what i could gather, everyone in there knew eachother including the staff and it was just like one big party(including the servers drinking at the bar) and we were just a pain to serve. Sorry for making you step away from your bud light to take our payment. Will not be returning!

Still there and doing well. Cozy, great simple menu, great bar and great service. Prices are also great. Fish and chips is good, not greasy and fries/chips firm and not over cooked. They are good enough to have been cooked to order. Soups are done in-house and you will ask for a bowl once you have a cup.

I have had lunch here twice in the last week with my friend. Both times we were pleased. We had the fish and chips… Excellent quality but lacking in quantity. Which means we will not have that meal again. Last visit was fried chicken/cole slaw and the Coaches hamburger. Both were great! Can’t speak or my partner that had the chicken bur my burger was kick-ass. High dollar on he burger scale but awesome. The chef got it right. Gotta have one complaint, right? Their French fries suck. Hopefully they realize that and change. Substitute for another side is my suggestion because if you are a french fry lover… theirs will turn you off so bad that you will ignore the great food and never return. Great Burgers Rule! They Have One!

I had dinner there the other night. It was my 1st visit since it was Monacoo’s They have brightened up the place since then. Acutally, I prefere it a litter dimmer than it is now. The food was really good. My friend had the ribs and chowder. He said the ribs were good and the chowder was better than we had at The Fishermans Galley the night before. I had the steak sandwich. Very good. I was glad to see that Tony is still cooking there.(he was there when it was Monaco’s. And the drinks are reasonably priced. I will be back. Railbird
