I accept the fact most fast food will more often than not be greasy. I haven’t needed to complain about my visits here. There’s always a first, right? So I did a drive thru run and ordered the charbroiled chicken sandwich meal. Drove back to my office, opened the wrapper to find an itty bitty portion of chicken inside the large wheat bun. No joke they might as well have put 2 chicken nuggets together. I’m left to wonder ‘who, how & why’ would this be acceptable to serve to customers. Or maybe those nugget scraps are designated for drive thru only because they know you’ll be miles away before you realize they jipped you. As Leo Getz would say, «They f*** you at the drive thru!» Moral of my story: Check your before you drive off!

First time here. Grabbed a couple dark pieces to snack on from the drive-thru while out buying ingredients for a healthy dinner. Good chicken, better than KFC anyway. Course, it’s hard to judge unless you’ve been to a chicken joint a few times to see if they are consistent. I have no problem returning as this experience was most definitely positive. Bonus, they know how to do a proper Arnold Palmer.

I’m an 80s baby and have been frequenting this restaurant since it was a Foster Farms. Sadly I have had to relocate to socal, but any excuse I can make to take a trip up north, I order a 80+ pieces of their chicken nuggets and tons of BBQ sauce and get fat and happy. ***Of note to all those unfamiliar with this establishment, don’t waste your time on the regular fried chicken, it’s mediocre, stick to the chicken nuggets and spuds. That’s the star of this attraction. You’ll never find better chicken nuggets.***

Chicken barn always knows how to make my day better. Either I’m not having a good day And the ladies make into one or if it is a good day that make it even that much awesome. Food is amazing(3 piece wing meal bbq style with spuds is my favorite) but the amazing customer service is what really makes chicken barn special Only qualm i have with chicken barn is on multiple occasions ive been eating and the manager brings out an employee to have a private one on one talk about how he is going to punish them(for something that to me seems like the not a punishable action) the employee always looks embarrassed… that kind of stuff should be done in the back of the house, in the office and in private

Yay! We finally found a great place for fried chicken. The chicken was super crispy, cooked perfectly, the potato wedges were delicious(I usually never eat potatoes) my macaroni salad was on point, my biscuit was homemade tasting… I loved everything. It took a little longer to get our food but it was well worth the wait… :-)

Their Pepsi tasted like mold! I don’t know if it needs to be cleaned or what but it’s gross. I took one drink and dumped it. The place is pretty run down but their food is consistent and fulfills my once in awhile nugget and spuds need.

I wanted chicken really bad so I decided to try this place. I must say the chicken wasn’t to bad. It could use a little bit of seasoning but they have salt packets so I made the best of it. I ordered a 3 piece combo it came with 2 sides and a biscuit, for my side I ordered mac and cheese and potato spuds. DONOTORDERMACANDCHEESE, it was soooooooooooo nasty! The spuds were ok. It’s something to try if your in the area. For me it was a 3 star place. Would I eat there again??? PROBABLYNOT.

My wife and I dined there this evening around eight fifteen because she got home late from cleaning out a rental that’s a hundred miles from here and didn’t have time to cook. The staff were terse and impatient. We had never visited the restaurant and weren’t familiar with the menu. The food was okay, but I became nauseated when the employees, who were preparing to close, started to discuss in graphic detail the scatological conditions in the restroom. I deliberately cleared my throat and moved my gaze towards the offending employees who simply ignored me and raised the volume of their conversation. The soda had a mild mildewy aftertaste. I think they should clean the hoses in the soda machine or replace them. I had a college instructor twenty years ago warm the class to not drink fountain soda for that reason. Shame on me, right? I will not recommend this business, nor will I visit again.

First of all, I don’t even live in Modesto anymore… I have been eating chicken barn since I was a kid… When I drive to my moms house from Los Angeles, I have to stop here. Best Chicken Nuggets.

The chicken can be hit or miss, but the spuds always hit the spot. The drive-thru is fairly fast and they have daily deals(we go on Saturdays for free spuds with chicken strips).

Since I was doing business at McHenry Village, and it was a very hot day at about 105 degrees, I decided to take a food break at the Chicken Barn. I ordered a fried chicken meal with potato wedges and coleslaw. The employees were friendly, the place looked clean and I got my order quickly, but my main purpose besides simply being hungry was to get out of the heat for a while, and it seems the Chicken Barn doesn’t believe in air conditioning much. It was uncomfortably hot and I couldn’t wait to leave. The chicken was quite bland, and coleslaw mediocre, but the potato wedges were excellent. Perhaps I’ll come back during the winter months and order just the potato wedges, but this isn’t a place I’ll be making a regular stop at, especially on a hot day!

Mediocre fried chicken. Crappy mac n cheese. Bad customer service. Won’t be coming back. Rude lady at register topped it all off.

No frills no atmosphere fast food alternative to the standard chains. Except the chicken here(as long as you’re okay with non-organic, possibly no free range) is pretty good. I got the chicken nuggets 5-piece which on a Saturday came with a bonus side order of spuds. The nuggets were made with actual pieces of chicken breast which were moist and tasty. I didn’t care for the breading they use to fry it but my two companions liked it. The spuds were 3 gigantic slices of real potatoes(not potato mash reconstituted to fry shape) also fried in the same batter. The valley sauce was slightly sweet, as was the bbq sauce. I preferred the tomato sauce(also sweet) mixed with the hot sauce as dip. Two order of the nuggets with gigantic spuds came out to around $ 9. Not bad for a lunch for two.

My first time dining out here and the food is way better than KFC! The chicken was so yummy that I had to stop by before my way home which is 36 miles away.

When I was a child, my father was a breeder manager at Foster Farms. When I was around 10 years old, Foster Farms opened exactly 2 restaurants in the central valley; 1 in Turlock, 1 in Livingston. When I moved to the Bay Area in ’94, I would still have Foster Farms every time I came home to visit family. It was a reward I’d consume on my way out of town. Sometime around the turn of the Millennium, That Foster Farms closed. Where the hell am I going to get my gargantuan spuds? Chicken nuggets that weren’t just ground up chicken paste? AHHHHH! Many sad years passed, and I was sad to come home and see the new STARBUCKS where my beloved restaurant used to be. Then it happened. Some crazy person got all of the original recipes and created CHICKENBARN. It is EXACTLY the same. It is astoundingly good chicken. You owe yourself a visit. Get extra napkins.

I have been eating at The Chicken Barn(formerly Foster Farms) since the 1980s, when I was a wee child. Even though the name has changed, the recipe is still the same. Same great chicken, same awesome spuds. I always get the 5 piece nugget meal with spuds, biscuit, and drink whenever I’m in town(since I’ve moved elsewhere). I recently discovered that the Saturday daily special lets you order 5 piece nuggets a la carte and you get a free side, so that saved me a bit of money since I didn’t need a drink and biscuit. The nuggets are far superior than any fast food chain because they are actual pieces of chicken instead of small, processed patties. The interior hasn’t changed much, if at all, since the 80s, but who cares? I come here for the food and the inside brings me back to my childhood.
