Lucky me I had the chance to taste their taro birthday cake last year. Cake was dry with artificial flavor and coloring, the frosting was nasty!!! I was offered to take some home … NOWAY! More than happy to pay a few bucks more to get a real cake from Kee Wah or Paris Baguette. Or if you are on a budget, go to Costco.

Japanese Cheese Cake is soooooo good! We had it for Valentine’s day and it was perfect. It was not very sweet, just right. Totally made my day!

I picked up a mango mousse cake today and not only was it beautiful and delicious, but the icing on the cake was the fact that they taped a candle and disposable knife/spatula to the box. What a thoughtful touch!

Not much selection here. It’s inside ranch 99. Don’t look like many ppl buy the stuff n so the bread looks not fresh. They sometime have sale know their bread. They do sell good big roll of those sponge cakes. Beside that I rather go few doors down to get my bake goods. Also they don’t have much savory buns!

I’ve noticed that the Sogo chain offers different Swiss rolls at different locations. For instance, the rolls at Milpitas Ranch area tend to have a higher cream filling-to-cake ratio than those at Hostetter and therefore more moist. Who actually makes these? Either way, I still like them, especially the taro flavor, and hope I won’t OD any time soon. Their pumpkin walnut bread and red bean bread are also good.

big fresh pastries for small change. coconut cream bun($ 1) — my husband’s favourite. rich, sweet cream inside a large bun, sprinkled with coconut flakes. delicious combination! wife pastry($ 1.50) — my favourite. flaky layers of pastry over sweet wintermelon. i love eating the flaky layers first, they just fold and melt in your mouth! tasted even better after i toasted it! i usually pay a bit more at other ranch 99/sogo bakeries, so wondering if these are normal prices for this location, or if they were having a sale. either way, no complaints for paying $ 2.50 for 2 large, delicious pastries.

They made a decent chocolate mousse cake. The frosting was light and the cake was moist. I think for smaller cake they do a good job on the decoration. This was a half sheet cake, and the design & decoration were very simple. So simple that I didn’t realize it’s from an Asian bakery

I love their delicious cakes… i tried a few varieties and have not been let down… the best one is their simple chocolate cake. it’s fluffy, fresh, and flavored just right… they put just the right amount of cream so it’s not too fatty… i hate getting a cake where 70% of it is cream because I end up scraping it off and eating the cake plus the fruits. i am not a fan of sogo buns so i subtracted 1 star… it’s usually kind of disappointing… maybe it’s just me… i rather get them at kee wah.

The buns here are okay. But what do you expect at their prices. However, the cakes here are really good. I love their mango mousse cake along with their chocolate and fruit cakes. Every time I buy it people always rave how beautiful and delicious they are. Price is a bit high, but as long as it is good I don’t mind. They put it in a nice box for you and if it a birthday or something they’ll put happy birthday on it for you for free. It also comes with a convenient plastic carving/serving knife. Sometimes you have to ask for it though.

We bought a mini taro cake from here. It was delicious in the way that I wanted to eat more than 1 piece. But also, it wasn’t delicious enough to warrant a 5 star, i.e. they didn’t put crack in it, and it wasn’t really all that moist. I like moist cake. But the taro flavor was legit.

I should have been stronger and fought the urge to stock our pantry with more carbs… or at least I should have walked by the bakery area inside 99 Ranch and gone down the strip mall to Sheng Kee. We grabbed a few buns the other night when we popped into 99 Ranch… they all looked quite delish and were fairly priced. But when I warmed it up the next morning to enjoy with my coffee I was totally let down. The pastries were far too«bready» and didn’t have much flavor to them. I know, «odd» description but the pastry lovers out there know what I’m talkin’ about. The tops of the buns were also strangely oily… yuck. We also grabbed a loaf of their taro bread thinking it would taste like the Hawaiian Taro bread… um, not so much. The flavor was like white bread but with purple food coloring. Bummer. Eh, lesson learned… I’ll just walk over to Sheng Kee(now if only they would stop selling out of those BBQ Pork Buns when I go there!)

Quantity over quality! Buns at this store inside 99 Ranch Market look only good on the outside. But, the actual taste, selections, overall quality of them leave a lot to be desired. Most buns are much bigger than the ones sold at Sheng Kee, Clover Bakery, and L’Epi D’Or Bakery, and also cheaper with no surprises in their bun selections. As the day winds down, they have 2 for 1, that is «get-1-and-2nd-for-free», deal after 8pm. When I shop at 99 Ranch, I usually ignore all this, and heads over to Sheng Kee on the other side of this strip mall.

I came here to buy a birthday cake for my mom, because the traffic and parking to get to Bijan in Downtown San Jo was horrendous due to the Jazz Festival. We made a quick dash to Milpitas to get a small cake since we’re not big fans of sweets and/or desserts. We made off with a strawberry mousse cake topped with fresh fruits. The cake was delicious… it was not too sweet and just the right size to feed 4 of us for $ 15 was perfect.

Located inside the 99 Ranch Market in Milpitas. Shares part of the real estate inside the food court area of this market. If you’re familiar with Sogo Bakery, then this miniature sized version of the bakery inside this market is very convenient to visit especially when you’re shopping for groceries. the wifee: «how would you like for me to pick-up a cake for you for your first Father’s Day tomorrow?» me: «sure honey, if you want to but I don’t think Father’s Day is until *next* Sunday?» the wifee: «*pause*… hmm … I thought it was tomorrow?!?» me: «so,… if you pick-up a cake today does that mean you won’t get anything for me for Father’s Day *next* week?!?»(heh-heh) She got a very nice fresh fruit tart for me today. :0) [see pix]
