Who the hell closes at 3pm on a Friday??? Seems that this would be prime time to be open especially on a Friday night. I’ve heard good things about your food but will never get to try it with these hours.

We have eaten here several times now and enjoyed everyone. The Sushi is fresh and service is good. It’s very small with only a couple of spots at the bar and 6 tables so they get to know you after just a few visits.

Perhaps the waitress was having an off night, but the service was deplorable. She was disrespectful and rude, and very unpersonable — a key trait among waitstaff. As for the food, it was top notch. The sushi was freshly made and high quality. My wife and I each had a bento box, which we’d never had before. I only give 3 stars for the quality of the food, but I’m willing to return to give a second chance.

I waited to write a review because I wanted to be sure that Yama was indeed the best sushi on the first coast. We’ve been several times for lunch and dinner and the quality is consistent. The ingredients are fresh, the rolls are crafted perfectly every time, and the flavors are some of the best I’ve ever had-​and I’ve had my fair share. They also have some great traditional ramen on the menu.
Not only is their food on point, but the service is outstanding. Whenever we come in we feel like family. Andy and his staff are personable and fun!
Having been to some of the other highly rated sushi joints around like Fushimi, Oishi, and Kazu, I can safely say that Yama is at the top of our list and the only place we will go for sushi from now on. Now I just hope I don’t ruin the best kept secret in Middleburg!
Some highlights:
Black Dragon Roll is still my favorite, but the Spicy Salmon is the best version of the roll I’ve ever had. Be sure to try some of the ramune Japanese soda!

Middleburgs little secret. Good is excrement is excellent, service is great. The chef/​owner personally came to our table and chatted with us, thanking us for our patronage. Casual décor, but nice. Would make a good date night

I had seen this little place as I drove by twice a day. Surely a decent sushi place couldn’t exist in a strip mall-​type building. They have to have big fancy signs and koi ponds outside, right? Nope. This little gem might not have those things, but they do have great sushi. My hubs is a finicky sushi eater… personally, I only eat sushi as long as it is cooked ;). Fortunately, they have other items to offer for people like me.
The hubs got a spicy tuna roll & a sushi sashimi combo. He loved both. I got a California roll… Very tasty. I also got the shrimp hibachi. I only had minor issues with it– it was a little too heavy with the teriyaki sauce, and I didn’t like that the tails were left on the shrimp. Neither stopped me from cleaning my plate.
The staff is friendly and attentive without being pushy. The sushi chef was very nice and told us about some other hand rolls they make.
We will definitely return!

Stopped in on a whim. The place is smallish, but neat and clean. It was attractively decorated and welcoming. The staff was very friendly. The food was presented well and tasty. It was the best chicken Katsura I’ve had since leaving Hawaii.

What a great find!
This restaurant is located in a small strip mall. If it was not for the signs on the side of the road, no one would know that this restaurant is here. It is a hidden gem in the Middleburg/​Orange Park/​Fleming Island area on CR220.
The bento boxes are large and very filling. A must try is the tuna meat balls in Bento. Very delicious and savory. The meatballs are a specialty of the owner of the restaurant and it is a family recipe. You would never know that it is a combination of tuna and beef meatballs. It is so good! The egg roll and fried rice are okay. A little dry for my personal liking.
The sushi variety has some of the typical pieces that you would normally fine at other restaurants. However, there are some true tasty ones that are their specialties of the house. Our favorite was probably the gator roll as a specialty roll. The Louisiana roll has crawfish and a spicy sauce. We enjoyed it so much, we had to go back a second day to get some more.
If you are looking for a tasty treat in Clay County, you should try this place. The staff is cordial and attentive. The food was such a delight.

My husband and I tried this place on a whim after work one day. The service was excellent. They were very accommodating and were willing to give us recommendations since we were new customers. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing and the food was VERY good!!!

We have eaten here several times. This is definitely the go to place for sushi in Orange Park. Always fresh and yummy. Regular menu has variety and is tasty too. Bento boxes are my favorite.

Excellent every time! Cozy, friendly atmosphere.
The sushi is always fresh, creatively, and beautifully displayed. We prefer raw sushi, but the cooked sushi was tasty as well. Service has always been very good,

featured items., such as Sea trout. and Albacore tuna.
You won’t be disappointed.

Best sushi on town! Also, for the non-​sushi diners, the bento and hibachi is amazing. No show to sit through for the hibachi, just the best flavor and awesomeness on a plate served in a clean and inviting atmosphere!

First time dining at this establishment. The atmosphere is quaint and friendly. The Sushi Chef and owner takes great pride in the quality and presentation of each and every plate he sends out. The entire staff is welcoming and friendly like a neighborhood pub. I came in at 5 minutes till closing time (didn’t do this purposely :)) and was greeted and served no differently than if I had walked in at I opening time. The Sushi was outstanding and sexy on the plate. I’d recommend this restaurant to anybody that appreciates great Sushi.

Excellent food, wonderful service. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The Sushi was clean and wonderfully fresh. Also the best Tempura I’ve ever had! Their clear soup was good but, I enjoy Tokyo Saigon Bistro’s better. We plan on returning very soon to try their Ramen.

This place is awesome! I’m from California and have been looking for a good sushi place and we tried this one out and it didn’t disappoint! We had the vegetable and shrimp tempura and it was delicious! For lunch we got sushi nigiri combo and it was very good. (Pictured)
The waiter was very friendly and always there if we needed anything.
Definitely must try if you’re in the mood for sushi!
