They have the best chicken fried rice! Add shrimp sauce and some spice. Boom delicious. One thing I didn’t like .The waitress was on Lala land for real. I asked for silverware 3 times and it was not busy. At all. Four tables in the whole place. But I don’t even care now cuz the food is too good to let her stop me from loving this place! Bonus: they are open late!

So good! Went for lunch, they had a 2 or 3 roll lunch special, comes with soup or salad. The dynamite roll is the best I have had here in Jax. I do like their habachi too. I haven’t had it in restaurant but I ordered it to go, fast fresh and steak was delicious.

Had another great meal at Akaya tonight. The steak Hibachi was cooked to perfection. The fried rice is still the best in town. And they never dare to skimp on the portions.

Restaurant was clean and had a very modern and hip feel to it. Lots of seating. Nice tables and décor. The bar was beautiful. Erika was our server. She was very friendly and knowledgable on the many sushi rolls available. Food was EXCELLENT! Huge portions… and finally… a place that actually puts a lot of ginger dressing on its salads. The lettuce was even good quality. Prices were very fair for the portions and quality. I will absolutely be bringing my family back!

This is a nice spot for sushi! The atmosphere is amazing and the service was awesome. The design of the tables give you a romantic feel because you sit next to you partner(nice touch). All hibachi meals come with soup, salad, fried rice and noodles. Everything was seasoned very well which was a please f surprise. The sushi was awesome. I highly recommend the calamari roll was excellent!!! This is a great spot for date night. We will be back.

Love this place. Food is great and beautiful. My favorite is the shrimp lo mein. I have to tell you I was not a sushi fan until I started going to Akaya. Now I love it and have to try something different each time I go. The steamed potstickers are really good too. I cant remember what they are callled on the menu but it is something beginning with the letter G. So glad this restaurant is in my neighborhood. Give it a try.

Good food, good prices, great service. The management are kind of rude but our server was great. I will definitely be coming back here. The Maki Special portion size is huge. The hibachi steak is a huge plate as well. The price-to-portion ratio is perfect.

My husband and I walk past this restaurant all the time during our morning walks. It’s in a strip mall is extremely plain on the outside. So imagine our surprise when we walked into this spacious restaurant. The décor is modern and doesn’t really look like a typical sushi restaurant. We ordered BbQ calamari for an appetizer and it was delicious. My husband ordered a speciality mixed drink(can’t remember the name) and I had a glass of Pinot Noir. We both had sushi and I had a bit of sashimi. It was high quality sushi and we definitely will be back for more! Especially because it’s so close to home!

Love, Love, Love Akaya. Was sad that they closed the Baymeadows location, but the Oakleaf one is my favorite anyway! Best place to eat for miles! My favorite is the spicy girl roll, which is a peppered tuna with a spicy tuna topping. Tricolor roll is also fantastic and comes with a special dipping sauce(don’t let them forget it!). They have great cooked rolls if you’re into that. Mexican Roll and Jimmy Smit are two popular cooked rolls for my crew. Their noodle dishes are legit, and the vegetarian rolls are good enough to not miss the seafood! Another must-have is the Matt Special. Not always on the menu, but they’ll still make it if you ask nice. Tuna in a special sauce with mango. The sauce is delicious, I’d drink it with a straw. No exaggeration. The only drawback here is a minimal beer and wine selection, but they do a nice happy hour. Shocktop or an average chardonnay are the best you’ll get to drink.

I threw up after I had eel sauce and the fried sushi. I always always eat sushi but later it was on the news about the mold growing back there in the kitchen. Nice staff but gross

Visiting my sister in Jacksonville and I guess if I’m rating on Jacksonville’s standards it’s a 3 star. We had sushi and noodles. The sushi was ok but I guess it will do if you’re craving sushi. Service was not the best, they had only one waitress running the place during lunch time(definitely not her fault). The noodles were not authentic but edible. Overall– considering there are not many(let’s say no other) sushi/asian restaurant in Jacksonville, Florida… this will do. Their Komodo dragon roll was the only really good thing on the menu that we ordered!

Not had one good experience despite many attempts. The benefit of the doubt is now exhausted. The first time I ordered from Akaya the woman at the front desk was rude and impolite, and when my order came out wrong she acted as if it was my fault. Attempting to give them the benefit of the doubt again, even after the health inspector closed them down for a day, I was told by the owner through another employee that they charge an additional $ 2 for only zuchini, NOT extra, just only! Other Japanese restaurants are close enough to try next time.

Try the specials. Extensive list of cooked rolls. Colleagues enjoyed the fruity happy hour libations. I thought the lighting and cool chandeliers were worth a review, but I think it’s more useful to recommend places based on the food.

Great sushi! I have been here a few times. The service was great to. The only reason I didn’t give them five stars is because they are a bit expensive.

We eat at Akaya as often as possible when we are in town. We’ve eaten here about a dozen times in the past 9 months and are NEVER disappointed. We have never had a bad meal or a bad drink at Akaya. Jack is the night time bartender and he is awesome. He always has good food and drink recommendations if you are undecided. Jasmine is a wonderful person and together they make a great team. Tonight we had the Yammy Roll and the Gator Roll. Both were excellent. There is another location near Southside and although I’ve not been there, I hear great things about it. They also have a few more adventurous menu items like live clams and abalone. Great food, great drinks, great service and reasonable prices. What more could you ask for?

I told you guy’s I would become a regular at this location! The reason for only 4 stars is because I have only used takeout at this location. I haven’t actually been served and dined in. With that being said, the food has always been consistent. The amount of food I get for the hibachi lunch is spectacular for only $ 8. I did splurge the other day and got my beloved Lion King Roll and it was worth every penny. Tip: if you’re getting food for pickup, just go on ahead and call your order in. It’s much quicker. Enjoy!

I really like this place! Who would have thought that you could find great sushi in middleburg?!(I’m an NY sushi snob and I don’t mind it!). I’ve been there twice for lunch since they are located right near my job and both times were great. Tuna tataki was delicious and a good portion size for $ 9. Very fresh. The shrimp shumai were awesome and I don’t know if I can ever go to Akaya without having them from now on! A great healthy treat. All of the sashimi I’ve tried thus far has been very yummy and tastes fresh. At Akaya I am willing to try some of the mor«exotic» sashimi that I may not be willing to try at other sushi joints. Although I haven’t ordered any special rolls I’ve seen some really good looking ones being made while I sat at the sushi bar. Service has always been good and staff is pleasant. I love Akaya and I’ll be a regular pretty soon for sure!
