Fritas are awesome. If you like your personal space I wouldn’t recommend this frita spot. It’s very tiny and you will have strangers inches from you in the seats. I would only order from outside and take the meal home.

This place offers the best Cuban style burger(«Frita») I’ve ever had. Consistently. They’re made quickly, and even if the small place adjacent to Bird Bowl is packed, which it always is, your order shouldn’t take longer than 5 – 10 minutes to be served to you. The Fritas are the tip of the iceberg, however. Delicious shakes, fresh fruit juices, even their versions of Cuban staples like Pan con Bistec and Croqueta Preparada are off the charts good. One caveat– make sure you go with someone who speaks Spanish, or at least can order in it. You’re in Miami, not America. Always remember that.

This is definitely not a place to go to if you value what you pay for. The burger is basically bleached white bread fried potato strips and a tiny flat 1oz patty with onions. Yes, the meat is taste, but where’s the beef? Four dollars for an oz of meat if definitely OVERPRICED!

I’m a religious Frita eater at this spot. I travel from up north often to visit family in pinecrest and this is typically my first lunch destination. Frita con queso y cebollas and a jugo de mamey are heaven. I do enough advertising for this place with my friends and family that el ray should put me on the payroll. Absolutely MUSTHAVE…

Rey de las Fritas is kind of like home to me. I’ve been coming here for as long as I can remember and there’s a reason why I keep coming back… I just love love love it here. I love little no-frills places like this in Westchester that have some darn good food. Yeah yeah the fritas are good but in general, I’m not exactly a frita person. So what I regularly get is the pan con bistec(steak sandwich). I love it oh so very much. The bread is perfectly toasted, the papitas are soooo crispy and delicious, and the steak is greasy in the most perfect way. Paired with a banana shake and BAM! There’s your perfect Miami lunch. This place is just SOMIAMI, and I SOLOVEIT. Minus 1 star because at this point, it’s a little too run down. Owner, please at least replace the seat cushions that are all ripped apart.

My review for El Rey de las Fritas was long over due. They deserved it way sooner. By now I’m the duke ha. I have tried their fritas, several types, and now their breakfast. I loved it. It was exactly what I needed and how I needed it. I was so not enjoying my almost hour plus traffic comute and thought, let me treat myself to a «sude everything aside» and enjoy life a little bit. Everything else can wait just a little. I got a yummy breakfast, quiet and loved their services. Heere is how: they continue to ask question after questions like would you like your milk dark or light, would you like you eggs hard or soft. I felt that I had a warm service. Maybe it was that there were not pressured by a long line, maybe it was my day. I was going back to regular schedule after my dad was sent home and I happened to enjoy my dad more than others. But even the background music of Laura Pausini made the whole thing very nice. I will continue to comeback for more items and service. Now I can go to work lol. Pictures to follow. Leave a nice tip and continue to say pleases anf thank yous. We seem to miss those nowadays.

Completely authentic and extremely delicious!!! As a gringa, I’ve been coming here for the past 10 years. El Rey has CONSISTENTLY had the BEST Frita in all of Miami! It’s your typical Cuban quick stop to grab a bite on the go; only a few things are on the menu. Other competitors just don’t compare. A Frita Con Queso is all you need and the prices are great. I’m not exactly sure what type of meat(s) is in it, but they are nonetheless amazing! All of the workers speak Spanish, however, they’ll understand what you want if you point to the pictures!

Super good food and fast service! The secret sauce they use in their fritas is amazing and goes good with pan con tortilla too!

It’s a shame we were there two minutes before closing and they turned us down because even eyeball us at guest from out of town after watching the commercial el Rey de la Frits and we are so disappointed they treated us like us secondhand step childit won’t get my business looks like they’re making enough money I don’t need no more customers

I love el rey ! Great food. Would have gave 5 stars but i don’t speak Spanish so it can be a little difficult to communicate. Those Cuban burgers are so good I crave them and drive from south Miami to bird road just to get them. Try there batido mamey shake its a great combo with a Frita burger. Loyal customer for life !

I absolutely love fritas! So simple, yet so delicious, fritas are pretty much a perfect sandwich. The beef/pork is seasoned beautifully, and the shoestring potatoes + lettuce + onions all work together to create a perfect bite. Add cheese? Yes, please. As for the location itself, well the service could be a bit better. I’ve been here a few times to grab a bite before bowling and the service just tends to lag. I’m not expecting them to cook my 4 – 5(I told you I love them) fritas in 5 minutes, but I feel like 30 minutes is too long of a wait, especially since the restaurant wasn’t filled to capacity. Either way, the food absolutely makes up for the lack of speedy service.

Cheap food but tastes good! It’s a very small setup but the service was quick. The waitress was helpful and explained everything on the menu and made suggestions as well. I recommend it for anyone looking for a new spin on a hamburger or cheeseburger or a tasty pan con bistec.

Truly Cuban fast food. The best in town. Milk shakes and fritas, a Cuban version of hamburger

I love fritas and I was really looking forward to having one. I ordered a frita a caballo which is a frita topped with a fried egg. It was piled high with crispy shoestring potatoes. I took that long awaited bite and it fell so short of my expectations. Wow. I did not even know what I was eating. It was salty and tasted nothing like the frita I know and love. The bunuelos were good. Nice and warm and they syrup was not too sweet.

Sometimes my little cubanita side gets a major craving for Fritas and I must say the number one spot to satisfy that craving is Rey de la Frita. Place is small and almost always packed hence why I only gave it 4 stars. They do have a small window where you can pick them up to go but my frita tends to never make it all the way home. Parking lot recently renovated so it that’s an added bonus. Great Frita with some cheese, jupiña on the side and you have one happy cubanita!

FREAKINGTASTY!!! You certainly don’t come here for the service or ambiance, you come here for tasty and flavorful fritas and amazing shakes! From what I understand, a frita is a meat patty made of ground beef, chorizo, and plenty of seasoning. The original is topped with onions and those little french fry sticks everyone loves ;) although there are lots of topping options. bacon, lettuce, cheese, I think I saw an egg, yummy. The kicker? It’s all served on a bun made from Cuban bread! Definitely a go-to spot for a quick and tasty lunch. Whee! Kicking off this Friday with a full belly :)

Feeling so Miami at el Rey de las Fritas. When hunger strikes you really can’t go wrong with a delicious juicy carb loaded frita. I’ve tried a few things off the menu and everything has been wonderfully Cuban. The original frita is the best route to go and if you’re feeling extra hungry grab a fresh juice or ‘batido’. Today I went with the Frita BLT, which is an original frita with lettuce, tomato, and bacon. Along with some awesome mango juice. The only pointer I’ll give is that if you order anything with cheese just know that the default cheese here is American cheese. I’m a Swiss cheese girl myself so that’s why I feel it necessary to point that out. It’s definitely the original frita so if you’re in Miami or in the area make sure to try them out.

This place is very small and all bar stool sitting. When you walk in you mostly see elderly Latino men, whom I imagine are Cubans. It is clear that this place is a touch if nostalgia for Cubans and a little taste of home. With that said, I feel no nostalgia from this place and I didn’t grow up on it. So I was not a fan. I had the Frito original and it was horrible. It is some kind of ground meat patty that is very thin. It has onions and thinly sliced potatoes crunchies. I had no idea what the patty was exactly and the flavor was not good. I’m glad I had the opportunity to try something that is so Miami and be invited down memory lane. But I won’t be having it again.
