The Spot really does hit the spot! Opened till late, The Spot is a great option for a quick bite and/or for those trying to sober up. They offer sandwiches, fries and fried Cajun deliciousness. I loved their turkey sandwich and the shrimp po’ boy. I had been told it was the best po’ boy in town, and I have to agree. Everything was cooked perfectly! Everything is made as ordered so you’ll have to hold your horses for a bit while the goodness is being cooked up. The staff is friendly and normally chat it up while you wait. Prices are reasonable and parking is available in the back.

I pulled into the spot because I could had sworn I saw the word«slice» on their menu thinking they served pizza. After paying the meter and getting off, I see they serve Po’Boys and seafood variants, along with cold cuts and other entrees. For a while there, I was ready to leave and trek all the way to south miami for some pizza rustica(didn’t want to deal with SoBe pizza rustica), but I bit the bullet and decided to eat there. I figured, i’m back in the Unilocal game and I might as well try things i’ve never had. I don’t regret that decision looking back now… I walk in and the guy behind the counter throws me a friendly greeting and helps me pick out the best Po’Boy I could get. He says the jerk shrimp Po’Boy with their remoulade sauce. I waited a few minutes and it was out. Crispy bun, crispy shrimp, fresh lettuce and tomato + that remoulade sauce! So good. Paired with the guy’s favorite, black cherry soda, the experience was uplifting. I didn’t think it was anything big but I wasn’t all that hungry, and it definitely hit the… anyone? anyone? bueller? bueller? I can now say i’ve tried a Po’Boy, and it was good.

I love po-boys and this place makes a pretty decent po-boy… I personally have only had the shrimp po-boy with lettuce/tomato and the rémoulade on the side… and enjoyed it very much… Unfortunately a few problems, first off, they charge you $ 0.50 for the rémoulade sauce, all the times I have gone they never mention it either… you might think its silly but really how can rémoulade sauce be optional on a po-boy? without rémoulade its just a fried shrimp sandwich… Additionally the seasoned fries seem to generally be too seasoned…

Some places you just hate to review because you feel guilty. Maybe it’s a place where you’re a regular and you can’t give it five stars. Maybe, like this place, it’s a place where the owner is cheerily taking your order himself. I had a Cajun Shrimp Po Boy with the Cajun Fries. I don’t know. I can still taste the sandwich. Too much seasoning(while not being really spicy), too much heavy sauce and too much grease. I liked the idea of a shrimp sandwich and I liked the idea of a cajun shrimp sandwich. I like the idea of delicious«from scratch Spot sauce.» I liked a lot of the ideas but the end result just didn’t come together for me I hate to say. This is really 2.5 stars for me, too but I’m rounding up for the friendly attitude and personal service. Maybe this place deserves another chance. Maybe next time I’ll order light sauce and unseasoned fries. Though another downside is that two combo meals came out to $ 24… and I was hungry a few hours later.

Came to the spot for a late night snack. The food was WAAAY too greasy and my stomach did not react well to this. Possibly that is the way Po’boy is supposed to be… not my cup of tea.

A unique place, amongst all the SoBe pizza, hamburger, pita spots. When I’m in the mood for cheap sea food, I’m hitting this place up. I’m a Po’ Girl. I had the shrimp Po’boy hoggie, it was really tasty tomatoes lettuce with remoulade sauce and to my surprise it wasn’t overly greasy for being fried. They also have fried calamari, conch fritters and fish, and other options. I would recommend this place for a fast lunch.

Really 2.5 Stars for me. Prior to coming here I had not read any of the Unilocal reviews. Maria A had told me about this spot and said she liked it so much she woke up the next day craving a sandwich from here. So I mentally bookmarked this place. After a matinée movie I wasn’t hungry, but I saw a free meter spot right in front of The Spot and I interpreted it as destiny calling. I was surprised to learn that this place is mainly a «Po’ Boy» joint. Though I lived in New Orleans for several years, I never became a Po Boy fan. Usually, Po Boys are made with chewy, stale-like white bread. A year ago, I returned to New Orleans and had the most insane fried chicken Po Boy. It changed my mind about this genre of sandwich. So I was pretty excited to see a Chicken Tender sandwich on the menu at The Spot. I became a little skeptical about the sandwich, however, when the cashier admitted that the owner was from the Northeast — not Louisiana. He tells me people say that this is the best Po Boy they’ve had outside of New Orleans? Um, ok, well I was never really a fan anyway. The sandwich came out LOADED with big chicken tender pieces, lettuce tomator and a thousand island-type sauce. The bread is much better than normal Po Boy bread but the sandwich CANNOT be eaten in public. This is a ten-fingered, sauce and fried chicken crumbs on your chin and nose affair. Two bites in, I realized it wasn’t going to be worth the calorie load. I kept eating it anyway. I don’t know why. I had also ordered the«mac –n– cheese» side, which was really pasta shells in a cheese soup. I did not like it. The cheese seemed processed. But guess what? I ate all of it too. I woke up this morning NOT craving another one of these sandwiches. It was«ok»(I did eat the whole damn thing after all), but I have had better. Not a beach dweller, myself, I would only come here again if I happened to be in the area and dining with others who loved the sandwiches.

Looking for a late lunch on a rainy Saturday afternoon and The Spot was exactly what I was looking for, even though I had never had a po’ boy. On the recommendation from the cook, I got the fried shrimp po’boy and it was pretty awesome, shrimp was cooked perfectly, and the sandwich was very tasty and filling. Po’boy+can of coke came out to $ 11(remoulade sauce is extra $ .50) free delivery on orders over $ 15 open till 6am on weekends

I thought the po’ boy was really good here — I had«The Spot» Fish Po ‘Boy and it was tender, tasty, and filling. I was afraid it might turn out salty but it came out just right to me — maybe as a good counterbalance with the remoulade sauce. Friendly staff and late night hours is an additional plus. It would be good to see if they can make oysters po’ boys to make people reminisce about their good days in N’awlins. I’ll be back to try more.

I came back here and brought a friend because sharing is caring and because when you like a place you want to prove to your friends how good the stuff is and that yes in fact I do know what I’m talkin’ bout! The mac n cheese is shells n cheese, it’s alright don’t come expecting the mac-tastically best ever but it is solid. The fries, also solid I liked them better than the mac so if you’re only indulging one starchy, carby side I’d opt for fries. They have some seasoning but they aren’t hot n spicy. The po boys, heavy, filling, delicious. The portion might look deceivingly small, it’s not. You can easily scarf half down and save the rest for later.

I had a very pleasant no-frills meal here that was exactly what I hoped it would be. I had a small plate of jerk-fried shrimp that were surprisingly tasty(in both spice and quality of seafood) some just-fine coleslaw, and two tasty hush puppies. In light of the prior reviews I expected a little bit more food for my money, but I was happy to trade away quantity for quality. I’ll be back.

Came for lunch today after a great chick flick! As they describe this place«Something New, Something Different, Something Affordable!» Yep, that sums it up… We both ordered The«Spot» Fish Po’ Boy with cajun skinny fries of course. It is an open faced sandwich on a hoagie roll with big chunks of slightly breaded fish, lettuce, tomato, and cajun remoulade sauce. Yum…yum…what a change, different for sure. Have not had a po boy in some time. The sandwich was HUGE. Does not look like it but whew had to walk alot afterwards… When I take my hubby here he will love this place… If you have a very large appetite and don’t want to spend a fortune, this is the place… The skinny cajun fries were just o.k. for me, not quite enough seasoning on them. We did order the conch fritters, with a side of cole slaw and remoulade sauce for dipping. Only ate one because there was way to much food. Big round balls stuffed with conch… very tasty… The service was excellent, the guys behind the counter were all very friendly and they asked twice if we were enjoying the food. Disclaimer: WARNING– Do not use the bathroom if you are a female. If your a guy no problem. They really need a seperate restroom for the ladies… YOUHAVEBEENWARNED!

The Spot recently opened in the old Primarepa place in South Beach. Their selection of po’ boys and other cajun fixins is definitely a welcome addition to the beach dining scene. After seeing the annoucement of their opening a couple weeks ago on Thrillist, I was excited to check it out. The opportunity arose on a recent hungover Saturday afternoon when I was just looking for something comforting to chow down on. The Spot definitely came through. My friend and I both tried the The Spot’s Shrimp po’ boys, complete with lettuce, tomato, and remoulade(and onions, if that’s your thing). You can make it a combo for a little bit extra, and get a decent-sized portion of cajun-seasoned skinny fries and a drink of your choice. The po’ boy and the fries were yummy all around! The portions aren’t super-enormous, but definitely large, and filling. It’s deli-style, with a counter for you to place your order, and several tables throughout. I can imagine that when it’s busy, they might not walk your food out to you, but as we were the only ones there at the time, we got a little bit more personalized service. Prices are very reasonable — about $ 10 for the po’ boy combo. They take cards, just not AmEx(my card of choice). Parking is limited to meters on Alton and the side streets — so be sure to have some change on hand!
