I had the brown rice and chicken. I would’ve given th place 3 stars but the cabbage pickle is worth a star of its own.

The really tiny place! There are a few chairs and tables but do not except the table services. We were near this place and it was past 1 pm. We found this place through Unilocal and we were so glad that we counted on Unilocal! We had a large griot, fried pork, jon jon, and plantaes. The food was plenty for both of us and everything tasted so good! If we are near this place, I will find the resasons to go back again!

A great, if indulgent, lunch. My favorite combo is the rice and beans, maduros, steamed tilapia, and two cups of the tongue-burningly good spicy stuff. The tilapia is always moist and flavorful, and the portions are enormous.

I came here last weekend around 5pm. I was super surprised at how clean the neighborhood was and super clean the restaurant itself was. I called ahead of time for my food and it was ready and made fresh within 10 minutes. I looked at the food before I left and it looked so good. I had the griot and legume. It tasted amazing and it was reasonably priced. The owners Marise and Daniel were both so sweet and fast with my order. It’s in downtown Miami so it’s near everything. I can’t mention enough how clean the restaurant was. Highly recommend this place for a good griot or legume. I was happy.

What a great lunch. I had the beef and vegetable stew, rice and beans, and mac and cheese. It was delicious. Everything tasted very fresh. What really pulled everything together was the fantastic spicy salsa-esque cabbage that came on the side. My tip: ask for extra. This added a great amount of heat and a bit of crunch to the dish. The portion was inexpensive and enormous. It’s a little depressing that Manger Creole had only a couple people in it while the Subway next door was completely slammed. Seriously — this is the place you need to eat at in the Jackson/Courthouse area.

This tiny little hole in the wall is a gem if you are in the Jackson Memorial or UM hospital vicinity. The Haitian cuisine was really good. I ordered the griot with fried green plantains with diri djon djon which to non Haitians is the black rice. Mmmm so good the rice stole the show! I asked them to fry some fresh griot as opposed to the ones in the buffet and they did it gladly. The griot could use just a wee bit more seasoning but the picklees(hot sauce) picked up the slack. I would definitely return when I’m in the area

I stopped by for dinner and ordered the conch stew that came with a side of rice/beans and fried plantains. I requested the stew to be spicy and it was delicious, very flavorful. It was $ 12.99 for the plate, which I found to be reasonably priced for the quantity. The service was quick and friendly; I would recommend stopping by for some Creole food if you’re in the area!

Came here for lunch and the place was packed! Located near the local hospital everybody is enjoying this hidden gem. Manger Creole(Eat Creole) is authentic and pure to the Haitian Culture. The friend pork chunks(Griot) was cooked to perfection and if you’re feeling adventurous I highly suggest the goat. After the meal wash it all down with the fruit champagne soda.

I support small local businesses especially when the quality of food is superb! Food was homemade goodness. Flavorful and authentic! I would so consider them to cater any event. The older man who took my order was pleasant, smiley and had great energy. Great customer service. I got the oxtail platter that was plentiful for just $ 12! I love this place. They have a new customer! I’m sure I’ll be here at least once a week. ;)

My husband always rants about this place, so I had to try it! I was pleasantly surprised. The food tastes just like homemade! The grilled chicken was perfectly cooked and the rice and beans were also very good, not oily at all. It was light and tasty!

I’m not surprised that the newly freed Haitians lead by General Toussaint L’Oveture and General Jean Jaques-Dessalines defeated Napoleon’s brother-in-law, General Victor-Emmanuel LeClerc and 50,000 French troops in 1803. I’m not even surprised that Simon Bolivar the father of liberated South America once sought refuge in Haiti from the tentacles of Imperial Spain. Notwithstanding the Haitians not only just once but twice aided Bolivar to free South America from the oppression of the Spanish crown. The first invasion failed to free the people but the second one was successful which lead to the eventual formation of independent Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Panama and Bolivia. The success of the second revolution was primarily due to the Haitians aiding Bolivar with not only materials(ships, muskets, money, gun powder) as they did the first time, but this time they also sent Haitian soldiers with Bolivar to fight for the freedom of the people. According to Bolivar’s later writings, «This group of Haitians that faced down 10,000 European tyrants numbered 300 men.» What I am surprised about is how the hell have I been in South Florida for all these years and I’ve never tried Haitian food until this week. I mean I’ve taken a college course on Haitian history and culture, one of the few college buddies I keep contact with is Haitian. I even used to periodically buy occult supplies from Botanicas in Little Haiti. Then I found Manger Creole, a little hidden gem in the middle of the JMH complex(Jackson Memorial Hospital) from a random Unilocal search. It’s a friendly little modest place with a few eat in tables. The menu is well stocked with Haitian traditional dishes such as fried/stewed turkey, fried pork and stewed lambi(conch) etc. They also have a daily special menu outlined on the blackboard with items like shrimp, talapia and goat etc. Typical dishes such as chicken, turkey, pork range from $ 6.99÷7.99 for regular sized plates and $ 8.99÷9.99 for a large plates. All the other dishes including the daily specials range from $ 7.99 to $ 12.99. So far I’ve tried the stew chicken and the stew conch, my God talk about delicious. The rice and peas are super flavorful, the chicken was a spicy delight! The conch my favorite dish was mouth watering, loaded with tongue pleasing onions and green/red peppers.
I absolutely love this food, the food alone is definitely a 5STAR’S! ***LOCATION — they are not located on 14th st, they are actually located on 14th terrace. PARKING — lots of metered parking in front of the restaurant on 14th terrace. TIP — I love that I haven’t seen any ragamuffin’s, undesirables or ruffians patronizing this place. All of their customers seem to be professional and/or medical students.

Love this place. Something different in the health district area. The menu is limited but everyday they have something different. Chicken, goat, pork, beef, seafood. There’s something for every palate.

Wish that I could give them 7 stars! Food is BEYOND. Had the oxtails with jon jon(black mushroom rice). Short wait, even got great directions on the phone because I got lost walking there from the train. Only complaints were that they were skimpy on the meat portions(only 3 pieces) but problem solved when I purchased an extra side of meat. I will be BACK!!! DEEEELICIOUS!!!

Very good Creole food but mixed with Latin too. Lunches are not cheap but the quantity and flavor is really good. I guess you can share and split the cost. On another note. I’ve been eating breakfast here more often and the cost is better for breakfast. They have café con leche which they make really delicious. Toast with butter is really good too. I had yesterday scramble eggs with cheese and turkey, toast, and a café con leche and I paid $ 5.30. My food was amazing and satisfying. They also sell muffins.

Places like Manger Creole are the reason why locals should take advantage of sites like Unilocal. But for this website/app, I would have had no idea MC existed and that would have been a shame. I don’t(didn’t) find myself in this part of Miami on a regular basis so I would have had no occasion to try it out. But, on a relatively busy Thursday, I found myself in Civic Center working on a partnership. After the meeting, I realized that I was hungry. Not wanting to drive back to South Beach and eat at home, I was hoping to get something from the neighborhood. I spied nothing with my naked eye so I Thundercatted my way in to sight beyond sight, used my app… and there it was: Haitian goodness all for me. After getting past all the tips about how ‘foine’ the guy behind the counter was/is, I got to the meat of the matter: food, quantity, quality, and price. Everything ticked my buttons, so I entered, saw the guy who was being stalked by nurses and admin workers throughout the neighborhood, made my order, watched it being prepared fresh for me(I wasn’t getting reheated food), packed it up, and went home to feast. Oh. My. I’m a fan of Haitian food to begin with but this… this here. Oh. My. I ordered the stewed goat and it was enough food for two big meals. I eat a lot. I have a big appetite. I was felled by the portions. ‘Generous’ is an understatement. The meat was perfectly-seasoned and appropriately spiced(enough to stimulate your senses but not so much that your tongue catches fire and your nose runs; you can still taste the food), the onions & peppers gave depth and crunch and the cabbage & carrots made me want to add them to all my meals. But this was just the main dish. The meal ALSO came with rice & plantains. All this food for $ 12. If you live/work in the(surrounding) neighborhood, come here now. If you don’t, make a point to get lunch/dinner to go. MC is the kind of establishment that will do just fine on the business from locals but it deserves the attention of everyone. It’s that good.

The Jackson area’s food establishments have become dismal. All the ‘go to’ places have been shut down and permanently closed. Therefore finding a decent place to grab lunch in the area is hard when choices are slim. Thank goodness for the remaining businesses on this strip. But there is always a hurl over eating the same boring stuff day after day. Good thing Manger Creole is here. They off some very tasty Haitian items on their ready made, grab and go menu. The Stew — pork chunks, eggplant, onions and carrots. Tasty item that can be mixed with any rice choice you’d like… It is stewed down long enough where the eggplant is nice and soft, that mixes well with the rice to add a greater flavorful bite after bite. Pork chunks — seasoned well, fried to perfection, reminds me of Cuban masitas of puerco… Cuban pork chunks. Ox tail– very very good. Made to spice preference and topped with onions and peppers. Decent amount of tails in the serving. All served with rice and a side. Rice choices: rice/peas, mushroom rice(darker colored rice), or white rice with stewed peas of the day.

Unless you’ve been in a sensory deprivation chamber in South Orkney, Antarctica you’ve heard that Haiti has been hit with more calamities than the Old-Testament Egyptians. As much«tough love» as they’re getting it makes me think that Haitians are God’s newly appointed chosen people… along with the Mormons, Rastafarians, and of course the Seventh-Day Adventurers. Out of the tragedy has sprung some benefits, especially exposing the world to Haitian food and culture. When Andrew Zimmern, the host of Bizarre Foods, starts writing reviews of pork palace Chez le Bebe and Tap-Tap continues its successful run in SoBe, you know Haitian cuisine has arrived. The dining room is a completely frills free. Just the basics furniture and a beverage fridge with a mixture of Coca-Cola products, bottled nectar and the corner store favorite… Watermelon soda. I’ve never eaten ‘Ayisyen’ food in my life and still haven’t. I just stopped for a cool drink because it was Haiti hot that day…93 degrees. What I did see looked appetizing, ox-tail, griot(deep-fried pork) and fried plantains. As an added bonus all meals are between $ 6 – 8 and feed 2 people or half a Bizarre Foods host. There are about 30,000UM, Jackson and Dade-County employees served by only 10 restaurants, 3 of which are Au Bön Pains. I’m sure the«Health District» community will welcome the addition of a little restaurant with big flavors.
