Having returned to NYC for what is now four full days, not a day has past without my thoughts ricocheting back to The Rum Line(skipping the TSA line, of course and features of modern airport travel). Our discovery of The Rum Line provided a much needed respite from the Memorial Day weekend throngs on Collins Avenue, a welcome sanctuary built upon pillars of rum. Like my beloved Rum House in Manhattan, The Rum Line specializes in just that: «old school» and«new school» cocktails per the menu that are expertly, lovingly and fastidiously crafted to perfection. After a particularly disappointing cocktail at another hotel, Rum Line was the recovery that restored my faith in Miami’s ability to produce a drink for a adults as opposed to an ice cube ridden mess a four year old could construct through sheer luck alone. My pick of the night, a night that saw happy hour come and go, was the Rum Line punch. Packing a moderate yet firm punch, the punch features Mt. Gay black barrel and St. George, respectively, along with nutmeg, bitters and red bell pepper, among other ingredients. When presented, the punch was pleasing to the eyes and upon first contact, I knew I had stepped into the realm of craft versus mass production, of the human touch versus the rote and mechanical, of passion versus compromise and proceeded to sip. Yes, I could get used to this. Balmy outdoors environs, reggae classics by Marley, Yellowman and others, friendly staff, respectful clientele not looking for the next Spring Break or shouting at the top of their lungs about social media enabled hook ups and an altogether relaxed tempo. And the drink was the smooth intoxicant that made everything all right. Happy hour specials extend to edibles as well, with the kitchen shared with Lure Fish Bar. Happy hour prices made for a very agreeable check, with damage totaling far less for far more than anything comparable elsewhere.

Drinks were delicious, but the service was terrible! My husband and I were there for an hour and 10 minutes and had one drink each. The waiter never came back to offer a second drink and completely forgot to tell us that the food we ordered when we sat down was 86-ed. After figuring that out, we asked for the bill. Fifteen minutes later we still didn’t have it, so we walked up to the bar, paid and left. Too bad, because it’s a great little spot!

After a delightful dinner at Lure we crawled over to The Rum Line for some rummy goodness… Something happened. It wasn’t crowded but we waited at least 15 minutes just to order one drink. The Mai Tai for two. I was underwhelmed. I’m a seasoned tiki drinker, I looked at the mug and had high expectations. My other half had one sip, I drank the rest. We were informed it had 3oz of alcohol in it. Depending on the recipe you use, just the original should have 2oz on its own. The taste was fine. But in the end, I’m not sure why this is one of the top five tiki bars in South Florida.

3 days in Miami and not a decent cocktail in sight. Thankfully I found the Rum Line. A nice laid-back spot beside the St. Moritz is where I’ll be if anyone needs me…

I was in Miami for a work trip and being a lover of rum, The Rum Line was on my list of places to check out. It was a chilly night and my girlfriends and I were the only ones at the bar. The bartenders, although freezing, were very friendly and the atmosphere was beautiful. My friends both ordered hand shaken pina coladas which they really enjoyed. I got the St. Moritz Swizzle, which was composed of a bunch of ingredients I had never heard of — the drink was delicious! Watching the bartender make the drinks was so much fun — it really is an art! I would definitely recommend!

When we finally found the bar(south side of the St Moritz, as opposed to the actual Loews building), I thought it was a cute but generally unremarkable tiki style lobby bar. That was until we ordered drinks and snacks though. The service, the drinks, and the appetizers were amazing. On the South Beach scale, the prices were quite reasonable($ 10 – 20 per drink) but the quality was leagues above everything else we’ve had in that range here. We ordered a handful of empanadas to pad the drinking; all three flavors were great, but the pulled pork was sublime. The kitchen hit a slowdown at one point, so the bartender brought us a few drop biscuits from the kitchen(shared with the restaurant inside) that were the perfect complement. Our server and the bartender were super friendly and unflinchingly polite(although the servers might benefit from some training on recommended drinks– we basically worked our way through the menu, but a suggestion to start off would have been helpful). They brought water as soon as we were seated, topped it off whenever they passed by, provided the aforementioned biscuits, and checked in on us frequently and unobtrusively. The assorted seating made for lots of options to get comfy(and it was pretty quiet while we were there, early by Miami standards), they had a mellow reggae/beach pop/r&b music mix playing that helped drown out the traffic on Collins, but was perfect co versatile volume. No yelling over the music at all. Definitely a favorite mellow spot for some high end strong drinks and to just chill out.

I absolutely loved this place. We met up with some close friends and walked over to Loews Hotel and hung out here for the rest of our night. It was such a great ambience and the staff was so nice and friendly. The drinks were reasonably priced for being on South Beach and the drinks were delicious. The bar is pretty much all rum mix drinks but they have other specialty drinks as well. We will definitely be back if we are in the area.

Nice hidden spot in a beautiful hotel. Friendly and welcoming staff, large selection of great tasting cocktails. Best cherries I have ever tasted. Comfy seating! Subtlety tiki themed.

Wonderful nook tucked away in heart of south beach! A little hard to find but hidden inside of the hotel lobby this airy and breezy and spacious. Jerk chicken lollipops and empanadas on the same menu! Really enjoyed my time here and the attentive service. Great spot for rose who want a less claustrophobic lounge experience will be coming back!

We stayed at the Loews so we of course had to stop by for drinks here. Atmosphere is really neat — outdoors, pretty lighting, etc. There were only a few people there so it was pretty chill. My husband tried the Zombie drink which was strong but good!

This is an outdoor tiki bar. Came here for the drinks, but I guess when we were there, they had some special drinks from a guest bartender. I got the Carmichael, and it was not good. After a certain time, the bar switched back to their regular menu, which was way better. I got the green eye bandit, which was really good. Definitely come here when they have their regular menu and bartender. As for the service, it was great. We had a large group and had a great server who is a fireman on the weekdays and server on the weekends. They were even able to split our bill 7 ways evenly, which most places tend not to do.

A post on Instagram led me to The Rum Line on my first visit. Then, a few weeks later the Unilocal Elite squad held an event here so that we could sample some of their best. My first visit was on a Saturday night. I was expecting to find a busier crowd, but there was maybe three other people that I can remember sitting by the bar. Their drinks were served in really cool glasses – one was a skull and the other a large fish looking thing. Of course, I wanted that one! The drinks were OK. We didn’t have anything to eat so I can’t elaborate on the rest of their menu. However, as happens very often in Miami, there was way too much ice in the cocktails. So we either had to slurp the drink down or just keep ordering. I also ordered a Caipirinha and it was delicious! When I went back with the Unilocal group, I arrived a few minutes late(after unsuccessful attempts to find a parking space) and missed out on trying the small bites. I did get to try the Dark & Stormy and the Copacabana. The Dark & Stormy was awesome, but again, all the ice in the drink watered it down after a while so I couldn’t finish it. I will give them one more shot since I haven’t been back since January.

The Rum Line has such a lovely/comfortable/fun outdoor setup. I’d maybe have given it 5 stars but I only had one drink and a very small bite to eat so I guess I didn’t feel I could go that far. Anyway, I love fish/seafood but I almost never order fish tacos — but since the menu was very limited as far as food goes I though I would just give them a shot as nothing else sounded too appealing. Turns out they are awesome and I enjoyed every flavorful bite. Was very pleased with myself for ordering them and would love to have them again. My bf ordered the Jamaican wings(unsure of actual name) and those were fantastic as well. The server was very friendly and attentive. The drinks at our table were all very good. I had the Copacabana. Try it!

This is a great new bar. It definitely feels very separate from the gigantic hotel. It’s outdoors, has a lot of green, cool chairs, nice layout, candles, and creative cocktails. Has a tikki feel to it and felt like the type of relaxing place you could spend hours on end at. It’s also intimate enough that you can have a conversation. Two thumbs up.

Outdoors tiki inspired bar at the back of the nice Loews hotel. Laid back atmosphere nice seating area. As previous reviews stated, a bit hard to find. We were actually looking for the place and didn’t even know we stumbled into it until we asked. The drinks are made wonderfully. We only had a drink each before heading someplace else for the night. My friend ordered the zombie, which is like a tiki LIT as always, strong and tasty. Every bar limits the number you can order. I had the green eyed bandit. It was delicious. I guess I’m weird for not ordering rum at a bar called The Rum Line. My friend liked my drink better than his haha. My drink came with a cute pink plastic flamingo sitting on the side. It was so cute that the girl next to us at the bar leaned over my drink, poked it and told us how cute it was. A little strange for me though. Please don’t breathe over my drink haha I don’t know you!

We LOVED this gorgeous, hidden outdoor bar in the back of the Loews hotel. We had a hard time finding it and you likely will as well — but do not let this deter you! When you finally stumble into the Rum Line and it’s tiki-esque atmosphere, you will know that all is right in the world again. The cocktail menu is exceptional. It’s hard to choose a drink because of how extensive the list is. And the bartenders really know their stuff. They were mixing and shaking drinks up all night. We secretly and not-so-secretly love tiki drinks so we first tried the Mai tai for two, which was the favorite of the evening. The zombie is so intense that the menu actually warns only two per person allowed. Yikes! But we enjoyed that drink as well with a hint of cinammon and a very delicious macerated cherry. The pisco sour(frothed up with an egg white) was superb as was the dark and stormy(they make their own homemade ginger beer). Essentially, you can’t go wrong but each drink is unique and memorable. If you love fancy cocktails and comfy couches and magical lighting, don’t miss the Rum Line next time you are in Miami Beach!

I’m trying not to be bias on the account I’m a sucker for rum but all things aside this place makes some of the cities most unique cocktails in the most festive glasses. These drinks are not limited to just rum they contain an array of ingredients similar to non in Miami. Expect to pay what most hotel bars in the beach charge but the taste of these drinks and vibe is all worth it.

The Rum Line is a great place for rum drinks in an outdoor atmosphere that is elegant and laid back all at the same time. Very nice for a romantic night out or also with a group of friends. The drinks are moderately priced. Not cheap and not crazy expensive either. The service was awesome with the waitress very attentive making sure you were satisfied with your drinks and would always be around when you were running low. The lounge also has some small bites of food, but we didn’t eat anything this time.

Situated in the Loews hotel on Miami beach, this little lounge area is cozy. I ordered the black and stormy which features a homemade infused rum that has a distinctive flavor. The space is cozy and draped with lights that settle underneath a warm Miami sky. Grab a seat at the couches with a couple friends and see why Hemingway has a drink named after him at this little spot.

The happiest combined with hip! I’m not much of a rum drinker until I came here. The cocktails are well-crafted and well thought out. Every detail is purposeful and delightful. First of all we had an outstanding dinner inside at Lure Fishbar. I had the best dressed oysters and the hugest yet yummiest stone crab claws. The amazing Bartender Robert, invited us to check out their outdoor bar The Rum Line. What can I say, «The Green Eye Bandit» stole my heart. This cocktail consists of fresh pressed Kale & Cucumber juice, lime, jalapeño, and Cachaca in an adorable funky mug. The Rum Line is a home run. Cool music, great cocktails, funky glassware, super nice staff, chill vibes.
