Scoops is dope. All these haters out here are dumb, you’re in a hotel located on South Beach. think people think! The server lady was nice and let me try like three different flavors before I chose and the Café Con Leche was totally worth the $ 5.00 it cost.

My boyfriend’s parents are in town and staying at the hotel, so we decided to get some ice cream here after dinner one night. The woman working was friendly and let us try a lot of flavors. I got the Abuela Maria, which is vanilla ice cream with guava and cheese. It was so good! I only wish it had more guava in it. I realized after ordering it that the ice cream comes from the Azucar Ice Cream Company, which I’ve been wanting to try since I’ve heard only good things about it! They also have some other unique flavors like café con leche. The ice cream, however, is pricey. One scoop is around $ 5.00. But hey, it’s South Beach, what do you expect?

The Loews in Miami Beach has a beautiful property. Beautiful grounds. One of the hotel managers was excessively polite to me. BUT, I wasn’t a guest here. I was just enjoying a nice stroll. I popped in, saw this ice cream shop, and thought a scoop of chocolate would be real nice. Hmm… $ 4.25 seemed like a lot for one scoop of ice cream. I decided to go for it though. So the young woman grabs a cup. She grabs a scoop. The scoop goes into the bucket one time. Then there is a series of finger movements on the cash register. Total cost: $ 5.48 «What?» “How did we go from $ 4.25 to $ 5.48?“ She says oh, well that includes the tax and service charge. «What service charge? Where here does it say anything about a service charge?» Her co-worker says she thinks it’s on the menu. «What menu? Where is there a menu?» She says everybody here charges a service charge. «Don’t they pay you enough?» She stays silent. Just bizarre… I could accept it if a service charge was a clear part of the deal, but to just add it to the bill without any prior disclosure is what miffs me. The ice cream, of course, was delicious. But jacking me for a 20% service charge like that… It’s a con-job. It’s deceitful. IT’S SLIMY. I don’t appreciate that sort of treatment. Yah, we’re not talking about a lot of money here. But it is the principle of the matter. This is a slime-ball thing to do to your customers.

Overpriced(less so than others have commented, 1 scoop comes to about 5.50 dollars) but very good ice cream. I found the service quite nice.

Is the ice cream good? yes. Is the store bright and shiny? Yes. Oooo Shiny! Did I just pay 10.32 for a single scoop ice cream cone??? YES! I understand the prices being 200% of fair market value, but then you added 20% gratuity. I was just forced to tip 1.20 on an ice cream scoop!!! The staff was very friendly, and they place was really clean. I am used to ridiculous Miami prices, but this was a shocker. 4 stars if my single dip cone had been 8 dollars.

The only reason it’d not a 5 star is bc a single scoop of Graeter’s ice cream is $ 7.99. A SINGLESCOOP. Is is awesomely delicious? Yes. But is it to worth it? Perhaps not for an everyday treat. Inside of the gorgeous lobby of the Loews, a lovely little spot to get your post din sugar fix on – they have 10ish flavors if ice cream, two flavors of soft serve, and loads of mix n match candy — overall, a sugarholic’s wet dream. Just put down your black card and get ready to indulge in some sweet dairy goodness.
