This was a romantic and fun dinner for two. Located in a relatively quiet area of South Beach, this restaurant provided excellent and friendly service. The food was yummy but most notable were the complimentary palate cleanser(grapefruit shaved icy sorbet on dry ice!) to start, and cotton candy with pop rocks to finish! Highly recommend it!

Brunch with one of the most cultured women I know… thank you for feeding me Liz. I would like to begin with, «I love brunch» it is a favorite of all meal times … When you can mix breakfast with lunch — what complaints can you have? Things I loved about this place: 1. the double sized milk shakes bring all the boys to the yard… I had the coconut milk shake — and it was de-lish 2. food(omelet) was seasoned with a wake-up ‘tude(spicy) — and a proper portion — yummy 3. the ambiance and décor made me feel pretty and naughty(gothic/Spanish) 4. Location — plenty of parking and easy to find 5. Service — professional and prompt it got loud towards the end of our meal — which just meant that we couldn’t sit around too long after eating — which was probably a good thing because the Cotton Candy they give on the way out was tempting. I recommend this to all who wish to have a proper brunch before strolling down Ocean Drive to burn off those calories.

MYKINDABRUNCH! A friend and I brunched here on a «Couptessa» deal that included 2 entrees, one side dish, and 2XXX smoothies. GETTHESMOOTHIE. The tall, luscious, creamy coconut glass of deliciousness left me feeling absolutely faint with satisfaction. Seriously, I needed a cigarette and some pillow talk after this bad boy. I’m still dreaming about it. If you have a dining companion that tends to be a tad too loquacious, I highly recommend getting her one of these smoothies. She’ll be so busy sucking on the straw, it’ll shut her right up. Anyway, that’s the effect it had on me. Entrees were yummy. Potato side dish had a nice little chili kick. Interior is gorgeous! Love the original tile flooring, the Spanish lace curtains, the black chandeliers and the Gothic red velvet wallpaper. Servers are great, and it’s a damn good thing because the place filled up fast! in June! on a Sunday! So yes, the secret’s out about Lolita. It’s a great place. Go early and go often. I plan to. I can’t wait to try their happy hour. Only complaint? Music WAY too loud. When we were finishing up, somebody started playing DJ or something and the noise was just all wrong. Especially when it got really busy, service slowed down a little and we couldn’t talk to each other to pass the time without screaming. oh, Lolita! You yummy little tart! I’ll be back soon!

I was in Miami with friends for the spin convention the weekend after memorial weekend. A recommendation brought us to Lolita. The set up is like an old Spanish courtyard. They were playing a black and white movie on the wall outside where we sat. The patrons were 80% female which was cool because I was with 3 women. Apparently they tile in the women’s bathroom is exquisite because it was the talk at the table for about 15mins. Food was good and the service was great. Owner was cool too. I definitely would go back.

Margaritas good but not consistent. Nice atmosphere. Guacamole ok but not special. Cotton candy nice touch but change the sour apple flavor. It sucks!

I have been wanting to try Lolita Mexican & Tequila Bar for a while. Ever since I heard of their burlesque inspired décor I knew I had to check it out. I arrived with my friend and was surprised to find it pretty empty. I thought this place would be busy since it was dinner time. Once we were seated our waitress came up to us, and may I say, she was one of the nicest, most attentive waitresses I’ve had in a while. I wish I could remember her name since she was such a good waitress. She answered all of our questions about the menu and did so with a smile. My friend and I immediately ordered some chips and salsa to begin our meal. The amount of chips they brought was substantial, which I like. You get to choose between three salsas, which are a green tomatillo, a red sauce, and a chipotle cream. My friend and I loved the tomatillo and red sauce. The cream salsa was too thick for us. The salsas were good, but I wished they had something that was more like a pico de gallo. As a starter we shared the zacolo corn. I found this somewhat disappointing. I did not taste the peppers or lime that was supposed to be on it. All I tasted was a roasted corn that had cheese on it. It was OK, but I was really hoping to get a spicy kick from the peppers. My friend liked them more than me so I let her finish them off. For our meals I got the mercado verde enchiladas and my friend got the spicy chipotle chicken taquitos. We both really enjoyed our meals. I especially liked the green and red sauce that was on my enchiladas. I tried a bite of the taquitos and I think they were great, probably better than my enchiladas. We were too full to have any of the desserts, but we were pleasantly surprised when we saw the mountain of cotton candy that was brought to our table with the bill. Of course we had to try it. It tasted good, just like cotton candy should taste. All in all, I like Lolita but found the food lacking flavor. This place is more about the ambience and is more along the lines of the gourmet Mexican restaurants that have been popping up in Miami lately. After I ate I told my friend how it was good, but how I wished it wasn’t so gourmet. She agreed with me, but overall we thought that Lolita was a cool place to eat.

The energy coming from this place when we walked by had me intrigued and the Unilocal rating overall lured us in. We grabbed a seat outside on the patio around 10:30pm on a Friday night before hitting Amnesia to dance the night away. Loved the décor and ambiance from the moment we walked up. They have a patio out front and one large one to the side with a huge screen. The doors open up into, what appeared to be the main dining room. The bar is to the right when you walk in and to go to the bathroom you pass by a banquet like table that is just stunning and another main dining room that leads to a pool square out back. The velvet red wall paper and wax dripping candles with dim lighting really made me think of vampires… such a fun place. The bathrooms delivered as well as the décor was awesome and the toilets were gorgeous… yes, you read that right. Our server was so happy and had nothing but great suggestions and was on top of things. You get chips and 3 different dips. You also receive some ice to clear your pallet with the option of a free shot of tequila on top… duh. Delicious. Went with the«Broken Heart» margarita which was Patron Anejo, St. Germain, Patron Citronge, White Grapes and Fresh Raspberries. WOW! What a taste bud pleaser. I had two within the hour. I could have ordered a pitcher but we didn’t have that much time. One is $ 14 a pitcher is $ 56, not bad if you will be there for a while. For dinner I went with the Mercado Verde– Two wild mushroom, sweet potato and zucchini enchiladas with black beans and green and red sauce. I got no beans and it was delicious. And for a surprise ending, an ENTIRE cotton candy stick topped with POPROCKS… Yes, party in your mouth! Don’t see how this fits the overall theme but I loved it! I truly wish we had more time to relax here and just get our drink on but we had places to be… however… I will be back next time I am in MIA! Hats off.

Wow. We were headed to a Brazilian restaurant but way too much red meat and so ended up at Lolita. First of all incredible outdoor dining which was perfect on a breezy 80 degree day in sobe. Their margaritas are terrific. I loved the hot pepper version which had the perfect blend of spicy and sweet and tangy. Also the broken heart was terrific for the combination of bitter and sweet. We also had the tres ceviche which showed the incredible variety of ceviche from coconut milk based to tomato. Lovely. It was too hot for a full meal so we did more of a tapas thing with going thru the night. Like others loved the amuse bouche with little tequila. They have a huge tequila menu and for those of u who think tequila is rot gut., this should change your mind.

Two words for you: pop rocks. That’s right — pop rocks. Any restaurant that incorporates these little fizzing gems into the game automatically gets an extra star. Lolita’s ambiance is playfully sexy(like those furry pink handcuffs in your nightstand). From the tequila-infused grapefruit granita to the pop rock rimmed agave cocktails, you’ll be delightfully surprised with the presentation and preparation of every course. The food was fresh, flavorful, and far better than the«authentic» Mexican dishes you might find at chains on – oh, let’s say — S Miami Ave or Lincoln Road? Well worth going out of the way for.

(Disclaimer: This is strictly a review for happy hour.) So…this Friday I decided I wanted my weekly dose of happy hour served up with a serious helping of margaritas and vampy sex. I know. Not your typical drinks-apres-work request. Margaritas for happy hour?!? CRAZYTALK. Anyway, Lolita lives up to its sensual namesake. Black chandeliers, red velvet, ornate glass tables and low-lit candlelight. It’s like getting elegantly wasted in a set piece from Dusk ‘Til Dawn… which explains my sudden desire to suck on the necks of the group of dining patrons sitting at the table behind me. But since that behavior is most probably frowned upon by management(hmph), I focused my bloodlust on the next best thing… margaritas(half-price from 5 – 7, at that). I handily made my way through 3 of the margarita varieties on the menu, but my heart was spicily stolen away by the Diablo — a Patron laced beauty mixed with blood orange, pineapple, strawberry and… serrano peppers.(although I’ve gotta give a shout-out to the Cohombro with its refreshingly muddled cucumbers and balsamic vinegar crusted rim). A filling bowl of multi-colored tortilla chips was brought out to our table with three dipping sauces: a zingy tomatillo, a chipotle cream(a magical concoction that NEEDS to be experienced), and a red salsa. Each was fresh, handily spicy, and provided a nice cushion to the four glasses of margs happily sloshing around in my stomach. Guacamole. A creation that needs no improvement. It’s brilliant and oh-so-tasty on it’s own. Except when it’s paired with some pork belly — which Lolita is happy to do. Yes, that’s correct. A big ol’ bowl of guac studded with crispy, fatty, chunks of pork belly. And yes, it’s as amazing as it sounds. So, while the service was efficient and friendly(the hostess and bartender for the evening earn a 5 star rating all on their own!), it felt a tad bit overbearing at times. Two waiters in particular seemed to find their orbit around our table and would uncomfortably stare at us for extended periods of time. I don’t mind an occasional check-in or three, but having someone gratuitously stare while you’re trying to discretely lick all of the sugar from the rim of your marg glass is a bit off-putting. Anyway, this whole boozy, decadent affair was capped off by a cloud of lime-flavored cotton candy that floated gently to our tables and provided that oh-so-necessary sticky sweet ending to the evening. Can’t call it a successful night without that happy ending.

Visited this place last night and had a good time. The décor is very unique and original… even though we couldn’t seat outside I loved the outside patio. We sat by the bar and the bartender was attentive, drinks are the usual price for Sobe… I liked the fact they offer complementary tortilla chips with 3 different sauces. a nice touch. I would def come back and try some of their dishes. A good spot to have a few drinks and it was pretty full for a Thursday Night.

Stopped in here for dinner after the fabulous DFP& it was A-OK. It’s no secret that good Mexican in Miami is had to find. I like the quac here, complete with tomato. I did not care for the crab dip at all, it was really fishy… I only had the one bit of it because of that. I also had the shrimp ajillio. The flavor was good, but a little rubbery(a little over cooked maybe?). The service was decent. I thought maybe a little pricey for what you actually get. They have a really nice outdoor seating area that is pretty large. Super bonus to eat there. You can also get fresh juices(watermelon etc) but they will run you about $ 8 a pop, that’s with no alcohol by the way.

The previous reviews were correct: too much emphasis on the experience and not enough on the food, and at the end of the day, the food brings people back. Portions are SMALL… we joked about needing a magnifying glass. The margaritas are excellent and priced as expected for SOFI: $ 12 – 14. Really loved the touch of giving a complimentary shot of tequila substance to ‘cleanse our palette’ when we sat down and cotton candy with the check. Very cute and unexpected… but just can’t get past the tacos at $ 14 that wouldn’t have fed a toddler. The waiter was a mess; I think it is because we had people come in after we ordered and maybe he had written our table off as a low ticket table in the beginning. We didn’t see him much and were constantly hunting him down. My recommendation: go for a sexy cocktail and satisfy your mexican food craving at a more conservatively priced establishment.

They’re under construction at the moment, but don’t be fooled. This place is a gem! First up, the waiter brought over a bowl of chips with 4 different dips. It was a yummy way to start our adventure. 2nd, they bring a very cool looking plate with smoking dry ice and a slushy concoction topped off with a shot of tequila to cleanse your palette. OK — I’ll take it! We ordered appetizers, and plenty of them. I can honestly say I liked everything I tried. and the tuna tostada was my favorite! The décor was refreshing, not at all your typical Mexican restaurant. No murals on the walls of bulls and woman in floral patters :). It was sleek and very modern. Staff was very friendly and I will definitely be coming back then next time I visit south beach!

Wish I had more good things to say about this place, but as with most of Miami, it’s style over substance here. Here’s a breakdown: The place: Very hip, very cool«Adams family meets rock n roll» bar and restaurant. Have to give them an A+ on the atmosphere and décor. The service: Other than a 10 – 15 minute wait for someone to show up at the table, the service was pretty good. Multiple waiters served us. Friendly and welcoming. The food: Unfortunately, this was the bad part. Portions were too small and way too spicy. I ordered the ½ Lime Chicken and it was an extremely small portion. The accompanying side was so spicy I couldn’t even eat it. The portion was definitely not enough for what you’re paying. My friend had quesadillas(burnt) and tacos… nothing special and tasted bland. The dessert was also sub-par and small. The drinks: The waiter highly recommended the Lolita margarita, which was OK, but nothing special. I was expecting much more from this average tasting drink. The white sangria was good though. Overall, I feel that this place puts WAY too much emphasis on marketing(décor, flash, etc) and not enough emphasis on FOOD. I’d return for drinks but probably wouldn’t eat here again.

Viva Mexico! One of my favorite foods, Mexican! Could not wait to check this place out. Seriously tucked away hidden gem for locals. From the moment we arrived I was so impressed with the décor. Huge patio outside, well actually two and one has a big flat screen where they play movies. Candles and red roses line every table inside and out. The dining room has black leather half moon booths, making it very intimate and cozy. A nice size bar when you walk in with an open kitchen to see your food prepared. Red, white and black décor make this restaurant sexy, seductive, and sultry. Our waiter was awesome, ever so friendly and we were lucky enough to arrive early on a Sunday afternoon shortly after they opened so we got incredible service. The cocktail menu is awesome. We both ordered different margarita’s, both were awesome. I suggest the«Lulu». The chips and three different salsas arrived and one that was homemade hot salsa, oh my yes my mouth was on fire. The menu has a good selection, we started with the spicy guacamole, fresh ingredients and at first it was not spicy at all but woah after two bites yes it was hot and flavorful. Every item we ordered had a nice kick of spices to it. I guess for some people this might not be for you so be careful as to what you order. I enjoy spicy foods so this was perfect for me. Oh as soon as you sit down the waiter brings you frozen ice with a large pour of tequila on it, way cool. Next Ahi Tuna Tostada, wow was this delightful, tuna was so fresh and again the spices they use are awesome. I chose the brisket taco’s and when they first came out I could not believe my eye’s. They were so small about three inches and they came with three. I was like WTH? Reminded me of Rosa Mexicano, high prices and small portions. Well needless to say I finished two and was stuffed. Sure we ordered two apps as well but these little taco’s are very filling. The brisket was moist flavorful and so fresh. At the end of your meal they bring you cotton candy with pop rocks sprinkled on it. Way cool, hubby drove me nuts, opening his mouth letting me hear them pop. Ugh, men! ha ha All in all I really enjoyed our meal here, loved the décor so much and I look forward to going back again. One of my top picks for sure for authentic great Mexican food. Prices are steep for Mexican food but it is so worth it. Also, I think it would be a great date night spot. You must check out the bathroom, as you walk to find the restrooms you walk past a patio with a pool, kinda strange really then the toilets are custom painted inside and out. I have never seen such artsy toilets, pretty funny.

Oh you little pumpkin of a Mexican restaurant. It’s no secret that finding enviable Mexican in our mojito of a city is akin to a task you’d readily dump on your intern. Meaning: it’s freakin’ hard to find great Mexican food around here and especially difficult to find one that makes killer margaritas! Hearing about this recent opening, I was gunning for a taste of their south of the border fare. It’s priced a little higher than I would have hoped for my everyday Mexican spot, but it’s par for the course considering its SoFi digs. A nice dinner spot, indeed. Remember the movie from Dusk til Dawn? With it’s red and black interior, Lolita feels fit for seductive vampires and well-heeled hedonists. Whether you’d prefer outdoor, open-air seating beneath a silent film being projected on the adjacent wall, or indoors by the bar, out back by the pool, or in a tucked away private area, there’s plenty of room to kick back with a flight of sipping tequila. What’s clear about Lolita is the attention to detail. The interior, the cocktails and the cuisine is on point. We ordered a few bites to share. The huitlacoche quesadillas were a vegetarian’s dream, the blackened snapper tacos were good(but could’ve used a touch of added flavor), the pork belly guac was very tasty and shrimp chimichangas(I think they were chimicangas) proved well chosen. Next time I’ll definitely get the pulled pork anything. Great date spot and awesome bar for after work cocktails.

If there’s one thing South Beach needs, it’s good Mexican food. Luckily, Lolita has opened up its doors in the former Nemo space at 1st& Collins. I am by no means a Mexican food connoisseur, but in my opinion Lolita is dishing out some good Mexican eats. We popped in for dinner relatively early on Saturday night, and were surprised at how absolutely packed the place was. But the restaurant is deceptively large, and we were seated right away. Upon being seated, we were greeted by our server who brought us some grapefruit granita topped off with tequila. It was a little hard to eat being that it was essentially a lump of ice, but it was tasty nonetheless. We ordered some Lolita margaritas, which also featured a hint of grapefruit, which was a nice surprise. The chips and 3 «salsas»(I use quotes cause they were more like sauces, but I digress…) were quite tasty, and definitely a great way to start the meal. Everything on the menu looked and sounded delicious, so we opted to order a bunch of options for the table. We got the regular guacamole, which while not prepared tableside(which I always find entertaining), was delicious. Chicken flautas, ribeye tacos, crab nachos, and chicken enchiladas soon followed. Everything was delicious, with the stand-outs for our table being the tacos and the crab nachos — definitely must-orders for future visits! We were stuffed but couldn’t resist peeking at the dessert menu, and of course, soon after placed our order for the churros. They were yummy, served piping hot with both berry and vanilla cream dipping sauces. But at $ 10 for 3 churros, I couldn’t help but be disappointed. Lolita’s M.O. is to serve cotton candy topped with pop rocks with the check. Our check came out without the bells and whistles, and my cotton candy-obsessed friend got a look of utter despair on her face. Our waiter advised that the machine had just gotten out of whack, but within 5 minutes he was back with a big olé spool of delicious cotton candy! The one critique I have of Lolita is the service. Yes, it’s a brand-new restaurant, and they’re working to get the kinks out, without a doubt. But that doesn’t excuse the fact that we literally had to flag down a server to request water after having been seated for over 15 minutes, had to beg and plead and wave our arms in the air for refills of that water. There were a few bright spots though: the cotton candy miracle I mentioned above, and when my second margarita came out tasting like grapefruit and only grapefruit, our waiter was very apologetic and gladly took it back to the bartender for remaking. Prices are on par for South of Fifth and South Beach in general. If you’re drinking margaritas with your meal, the bill will balloon before you realize it’s happening. Parking is scarce and expensive, but valet is offered. For quality of food alone, Lolita gets 3.5 stars, with an extra half-star thrown in for the granita and cotton candy freebies. I’m hopeful that the service will improve as the staff becomes more seasoned, and maybe then a bump in stars may be warranted. Welcome to South Beach, Lolita!

Yum. when Nemo’s closed in this spot boy was I bummed but thankfully something equally worthy has taken it’s place. We went for the soft grand opening and experienced excellent service and tasty treats. I didn’t want to give away all the surprises but other Unilocal reviewers already have – the granita palatte cleanser and the cotton candy with pop rocks at the end was a nice touch. We are big guacamole fans(and Mexican food!) and I have to say it was good stuff. We got the regular guacamole, not the spicy, and it had just the right amount of everything. plus great homeade chips. The enchiladas and tacos were great as well as the corn-on-the cob. pretty authentic food with the exception of a single tortilla for the tacos(instead of 2 tortillas per taco like they do in Mexico and LA). It has a great vibe and good food that is fairly priced.

I have to begin by saying, Lolita takes over the old Miami favorite Nemo spot — an old popular place for us Miamians for many Mother’s Day Brunches. Even weirder was being sat in the exact same table from last time we were there. So past that, how’s Lolita? It’s great a lovely vibe… Moody red candles, black furniture(very s&m), old school funky Prince… with a hint from Quentin’s «Dawn of the Dead». Service on the other hand was poor. Let me re-phrase myself… our waitress was awesome(Jessie). Went far and beyond to please us. I’m referring to the handful of bus boys who passed by our table on multiple locations and not removing our extra placemat, bringing out food without clearing plates, without refilling our glasses, etc. Jessie on the other hand did it all without asking which is why she gets a 5-Star. Then again it was opening night so I guess you have to lenient right??? But, big BUT here… the bottom side of the wooden tables were freshly sawed off from the factory and wasn’t cleaned. Needless to say, the top of my dark jeans were ruined for the evening with a coat of white dust. Now the food… FANTASTICALLYDELICIOUS. Like for real… killer upscale mexican. They brought out to the table a «Granita on dry ice w/a shot of el Jimador tequila» and fresh fried chips with 4 awesome sauces — tomatillo, chipotle cream, roasted tomatoes and mango chipotle. We had a pitcher of Margarita, Zocalo Corn(with hot chile peppers, lime and cojita cheese), Chipotle Potato Gratin(white sweet potato with fresh hot green chiles), Lobster Enchiladas(with fire roasted corn) and Blackened Snapper(with pineapple salsa and chipotle crema). The bill comes with Cotton Candy w/Sprinkled Pop Rocks like they do at their sister restaurant Tatu(same owner). Overall the place was great and I hope they get their little service problems in order to make this place truly flawless.
