Perhaps they should have had reasonable prices and better service? A cool place, but not all that. I am looking forward to what happens in that space. I like Brant Rock, and it will certainly survive in spite of the closing. It is telling when a good third of the reviews are«not recommended». I guess they weren’t trolls after all. Good lord – where can I see Steven next?

Please rescue Arthur and Pat’s. No restaurant this good should go out of business.

Best breakfast in Marshfield, hands down. The coconut cake is as life changing as they claim! And the cappuccino is the best I have ever had. Special mention to the crème brûlée French toast.

Ridiculously good. I went recently and had the Fried Chicken and Waffles. I’ve been thinking of it ever since. I also tried a few other things at the table… Lobster Bolognese special and the Lobster Roll. I was temped to reach over and grab some bites from other tables around us. The fried clams looked and smelled outstanding. I’ve been several times and have loved every bite as well as the fun frantic atmosphere, joking wait staff and colorful signs covering the walls.

The place has a crazy menu and if you like odd stuff for breakfast or just really like sweets you’ll probably like the place, that is if you also like paying through the nose for breakfast. If you like a regular couple of eggs and bacon with toast, you’ll only be disappointed by the food and enraged by the terrible service. You’d think the coffee was bottomless by the way they just topped off your cup, but no you got charged for another full one. I once ate here and was told they wouldn’t grill my bagel because it was too busy. Here’s hoping it wont be busy much longer. UPDATE: Out of Business! Good Riddance!

I went here for breakfast with the family(4). The food was good and the service was good, but it was $ 75. WTF for breakfast. On this alone I would not go back again. All 4 of us went out for breakfast a week before got basically the same thing 4 omelets and it was $ 40, and the same quality.

Hmmm… great food but the service was pushy and they charge 4.95 to split orders! What? To eat off the same plate? We ordered a small something to eat instead. I almost walked out. I spotted Steve Carel coming in to pick up a to go order. That was a treat. Probably won’t go back. Take heed to your Unilocalers A&P’s.

In less than a week, we will be heading down to Marshfield for our fifth summer, and we can’t wait to get to one of our favorite places, Arthur and Pat’s. We took a day trip to the area over Memorial Day weekend, and pretty much made the 3 hour trip so we could go to this great restaurant. I had the lobster brioche sandwich and my husband had the shrimp and grits, both of which were unbelievable. On our way back home to New Hampshire, we stopped in Somerville to see family members, and our daughter was thrilled that we brought her a slice of the incredible coconut cake! I truly do not understand anyone giving this place a poor review, either for the service, or the food. Whenever we go – and we are not locals — we are greeted with kindness, great service, and the owner, Dee, is always very nice to us. There is one particular young server who remembers us from year to year and asks after other family members whom we have taken to the restaurant — this is truly a rarity in our world today. This summer, we are excited to try Arty’s new recipes, particularly the falafel and truffle burger. We are big seafood people, and almost always order that, but these dishes sound so incredible that we will definitely try them during our trip. If you enjoy phenomenal food, the prices are in no way out of line for what you are being served. Give this place a try — it’s worth every bite!

Wasn’t crazy about this place… our food was okay, but seemed rather pricey for a small town on the south shore(I’ve paid less for better quality food in the heart of Boston and NYC!). Also, the waitress(owner) seemed over the top and rude(like a failed attempt of her own version of The Soup Nazi). While we were finishing up our meal, she started a yelling match with an apparently dissatisfied customer(which created a rather uncomfortable silence for everyone in the restaurant). Instead of graciously handling the situation as any restaurant owner ought to do, she decided to take a poll from all the patrons and shouted«Did anyone else have a problem with the _____(whatever the food item was)!?» Not surprisingly, nobody answered. We quickly diverted our attention away from the wreck and tried to pretend we didn’t hear — afraid we’d be the next target of her rampage if we gave even a hint of acknowledgment! Was a very obnoxious scene to end a mediocre meal with skyrocket prices. We won’t be going back.

Amazing breakfast food! Staff was helpful & friendly. We went for a late breakfast around 10:00 on Tuesday. We did not have to wait. Service was quick. I had their special Crème Brûlée French Toast. It was amazing! My husband had the lobster omelette, pricey but worth every bite! My daughter had the eggs, bacon & toast. She said all of it was very good. I got the coconut cake to go for a snack later. It was delicious!

My favorite breakfast restaurant. Banana bread is amazing and steak tips and eggs are my favorite Sunday breakfast all summer long. It’s a fun restaurant with good staff. Everything on the menu is amazing.

Every time we visit my elderly uncle in Marshfield we treat him(selfishly treating ourselves) to the ridiculously stupendous food at Arthur and Pat’s. We have *never* had anything less than superior service and amazing food. I do *not* know these people(but sure would love to hang out with them!) and promise that this review is 125% genuine which I sadly feel obligated to provide after the crappy review below. I have a really hard time believing that you were at THIS establishment with such dreadful treatment. Seems absolutely i.m.p.o.s.s.i.b.le to me. Never. I wish I knew names to give props to but the best I can say is *everyone* has always gone above and beyond to make us and everyone around us feel like family. Oh and the eggs benny over PASTRAMI??? In.sane.

Great fun, funky atmosphere, amazing food worth every cent. This is what restaurant should be. Refreshing to be in a family owned and family run restaurant. Who needs those chain places. Love the fact the tables are wore and the floor is slanted because the quality of the food is over the top.

I’ve been coming to Arthur & Pat’s since I was a kid and we used to go there when we were doing our laundry in the nearby Laundromat. I loved it then, and I love it now! It’s a family-run original, but the food is routinely good. The menu is really expansive, and I found it to be really reasonably priced, especially as compared to some of the other local joints. It’s more expensive than your basic IHOP, but since when can you get a Croque Madame or prime rib hash and eggs at an IHOP? Their banana bread French toast deserves special mention as being even better than it sounds. Truly swoon-worthy. I wouldn’t describe the ambiance as peaceful… it’s definitely busy and buzzing. However, the last time I went, we got there very early, and there was only one other occupied table… which was great for us, but not for the occupant, as our party of six included three energetic kids under the age of four. Dee was, as always, full of personality and the kids adored her. By the time we finished our breakfast, the line was out the door, so I will definitely try to go back on the early side in the future. I don’t want to risk that they might run out of banana bread for the French toast!

First experience: Such an awesome breakfast spot! I was in the area for the Triathlon at Duxbury beach and was in need of some coffee and an amazing omelette. After some quick Unilocal searching I found this amazing spot and I am so pleased we decided to trust fellow Unilocalers! The staff was really enthusiastic and funny, which definitely added to the experience. I ordered the western omelette with the cheesy homefries and homemade multigrain bread and it was amazing! The portions were huge so it was perfect for a post race feast! Really great local place with a great following, I will definitely be back the next time I am in Marshfield! Thank you to the staff for a great meal and experience. Second experience(and the reason for 1 star): I took my husband there for breakfast to finish out our 1st wedding anniversary weekend and I have absolutely no words for how awful this was. Dee, the owner-server took our order down incorrectly(an honest mistake, the place was packed and she was running all over the place) and when I mentioned that our omlettes were not what I ordered she tried to fight me on it! She told us we ordered lobster omlettes, when we said westerns! She rolled her eyes and stormed off and proceeded to ignore us the rest of the meal. I have never felt so awkward, uncomfortable and upset about a dining experience. The worst part is that since they only accept cash and our bill came to $ 34, we decided not to deal with getting change from Dee so we left $ 40. I can’t believe I compensated her for such atrocious service. I will never return here :(very, very upset because I loved it the first time I visited.

What a treasure. Dean walks around and is very personable. You get dinner and a movie with this lady. I had a tuna melt and fries, I was told about this famous coconut cake and I tell you I wanted to get naked and roll around in it, it was that good! Of course I had the clam chowder and it was thick, creamy and tasty, the way it should be! A few pictures of celebrities on the wall, they also know it’s a great place!

I can’t give it zero stars, though I would like to. Here’s some advice from someone who has lived in Marshfield for 30 years: Don’t bother with this terrible place, no matter how many celebrities have been rumored to have eaten there. The food is awful and overpriced(and they don’t take credit cards), the owner is very rude and there are much better places to get breakfast. Yes, some of the members of Aerosmith have eaten there, but I would still recommend staying away, even if you are their biggest fan and think it would be fun to eat at a place that they have been to. The Brant Rock Hop is nearby and the food is awesome. The Mug is in Marshfield Center and has done well for many years. And the prices are much better.

After a mid-morning adventure in the air with Metropolitan Helicopter, we decided to visit Arthur & Pat’s for brunch at the pilot’s suggestion. Later, we spotted him there too, so I guess he takes his own advice! Head on in and one of the waitresses will tell you to just take your pick of the seats. Check out the menu item posters decorating the walls and the various other cool signs and etc. Breakfast or Lunch? They’ll bring you the menu that you express interest in, and tell you the specials of the day(omitting the costs). Cannoli Belgian Waffle sounded really good to me, but we decided on ordering cups fo the Chef’s Signature Lobster Bisque $ 5.95 and splitting an order of The Joey K.(«The Oh My God» Smoked Salmon Spectacular dropped eggs on a potato pancake smoked salmon garnished with red onion and capers served with mixed greens and multigrain toast $ 14.95 plus a few extras — Lump Crab Meat and a side of Fresh Mozzarella and Tomato) $ 17.95 between the two of us. The cute tulip cups were filled nearly to the brim with the creamy tasty bisque and a good amount of lobster bits. Oyster crackers were served along side, but I also enjoyed dipping the heavily buttered toast that came in the Joey K into my soup. Dropped eggs turned out to be poached egg, but the salmon/potato pancake combo somehow seemed a touch too salty. Afterwards, I decided that I still had some room left for The Incredible Banana Cream Pie $ 5.95 which was a 6th of a pie, stuffed with banana slices beneath the custard and the whipped cream. Also, I pleasantly discovered that the crust itself was no where near soggy. When you visit the bathroom, you’ll discover a whole other dining room hiding out to the side of the restaurant. Cool! You’ll also pass by a chalkboard listing the day’s specials. Desserts are listed on another chalkboard by the restaurant entrance. When the waitresses realized it was a customer’s child’s birthday, they brought the kid a little gift bag, and a small handful of candy for the other child at the same table, so the birthday kid wouldn’t have to share! Helpful things to know when dining out at Arthur & Pat’s — .Open Seasonally, April — October .Cash Only .Parking — in addition to the street parking, they have a lot .I recommend the lobster bisque .If you walk towards and past the tall concrete tower, there’s a metal staircase to the beach
