If you play GW games this one of the few options in NYC to get the models and play. Manager(who I think is also the only employee too) is a good guy. Gaming space is small though.

Genuinely nice salesperson who was knowledgeable and not too pushy. Equally nice people in the back, painting armies but not too busy to answer questions. Very chill, considering the testosterone quotient. Tons of models to put together, and nice basic tool and painting supplies. Could get a greater variety online, but it’s nice to see in person. Expensive, but if you’re a novice to the whole painting and gaming thing, it’s one-stop shopping and you don’t have to worry overmuch about figuring it out for yourself.

Friendly staff willing to teach noobs about tabletop gaming. Will come back to feed my impending addiction.

My son is into Warhammer 40K and this is the place to go to get stuff. It’s a bit pricey, but you’ll find everything here. I’ve been here a couple of times now and always leave with more knowledge than I had going in. Not only do they have the largest selection of their own products(Games Workshop is the manufacturer of Warhammer and Warhammer 40K), but the folks working there really know their stuff. I’ve tried going to hobby stores and it is hit or miss in terms of being able to have questions answered, which is important for parents like me who don’t know the ins and outs of the hobby.

Seemed like some serious mini wars were happening in this unexpected location.

The best GW store I’ve been in, not in terms of size but in customer experience. GW stores have a reputation for zealous and overbearing staff, that try to pressure you into things you don’t need or talk your ear off about the latest über-release. My experiences at this location have been nothing but good, friendly staff that greet you on entrance and let you look around a little bit before offering you assistance. One staffer was/is a bit out of touch with the industry as a whole(stating that ‘no one wants metal anymore’, which is false) but as a whole they’ve been very helpful. Be warned that this is a small and cramped location, but I’d expect no less in NYC.

I went to Games Workshop today to get some primer so I could begin working on my Skaven army. Theyre really nice at this shop on 8th Street! I talked to the dude there, Don, for a while about gaming, both new and old school. When I told him that I bought the miniatures for painting and not playing and that once I had a diorama built I would think about actually getting into the game of Warhammer, he invited me to enter their painting contests with my Skaven. =D I told him I might once I didn’t suck anymore and he was very encouraging, said that all levels were welcome and it was really interesting to see everyone’s various and unique ideas. Super nice guy. They were running a couple of games and there were painting sessions going on at the other end of the table today and everyone was very cool and actively involved. It was a great atmosphere. I was very pleasantly surprised. Great shop. They were a little high on the sell but they weren’t pushy about it and the interaction with the folks in the shop who were there for gaming and painting was really impressive. It was like you were hanging out at someone’s house. These guys are into it, and it shows. I highly recommend a visit if you’re into it. Games Workshop remains first class all the way.

Alright, it is a GW store, so we all know what we’re going to get. In the city you’re going to get the same thing, 2 – 3 tables, Warhammer, 40k, and LOTR. You’re getting the overzealous salesmen, etc. etc. This GW doesn’t let you down on any of those things. If you need some GW product in a pinch, you can come here.
