I had an extremely embarrassing experience here last night. I purchased a $ 20 for $ 50 deal from Unilocal.I came in with my girlfriend and ordered our food. I gave them a heads up that I would be using a Unilocal voucher. A gentleman took my phone with the redemption code and went into an office and Ok’d it. Once the bill came, an hour ordeal started. Nobody in the staff was aware that their restaurant was listed on Unilocal, even though I had already told them I had already paid through Unilocal. The supervisor in the front desk turned completely rude, unnecessarily raising her voice threatening us with«so you’re refusing to pay your bill?!» in front of other guests. We sat down there for another half an hour while they figured out what to do. Thankfully, our waitress was really nice and understanding but everybody else in charge seemed annoyed and rude. We lost our patience and paid the difference from the voucher discount and left. My advice, STAYAWAYFROMTHISPLACE. They don’t honor their coupon voucher deals, they are overpriced, they are poorly run and customer service is clearly not their strength.

Came here with hubbs for a lazy Sunday brunch. It was good. We had a voucher for two entrees and four drinks. I had the Low-Carb Smoked Salmon with Scrambled Egg Whites and hubbs had the Three Egg Omelet with his choice of additions. All in all, the meal was good. It was empty because we came very late in the day but the service was good and the food came in a timely manner. Hubby and I double-vouchered…so, I guess we’ll be returning but I don’t mind.

For those of you who don’t know, this place is instead a hotel. Therefore I assume most of their customers are tourists who eat here for the convenience while staying at the hotel. It was Friday night and there was only one couple eating a meal and another couple ordered drinks who quickly left after they their got drinks. The place was dead and the environment felt very depressing. I got the chocolate molten lava cake which cost ten dollars. The texture of the cake was the consistency of a microwaved cake batter in a mug cup, which was a huge disappointment for ten dollars. They also have a service charge even if you are taking your order to go which is kind of weird. I guess since most of their customers are tourist therefore they think they can take advantage of them. I mention the service charge to my girlfriend as I was walking out the hotel but one of the employee overheard me. I believe he said«I think they are mad», which is pretty rude to say while I was still in the hotel. I would avoid this place but I doubt many new yorkers come here in the first place.

Never again! We’ve been sitting here for over an hour and still waiting for our dinner. We have asked the waiter and his reply was a few minutes. That was a half an hour ago! No apologies. No bread. No appetizers. The restaurant has 5 people in it. That should have been our clue! Not worth the price or the time.

I had an 8 oz filet steak here, with mashed potatoes and asparagus. My meal was tasty, and my steak was perfectly medium, just as I ordered it. It could have been slightly more seasoned. Chelton’s is a small restaurant/bar located within the DoubleTree hotel. The place is quaint, and a good spot to grab after work drinks and a bite. My waiters/bartender were friendly, and attentive during my meal.(I recall their names being Aaron and Soul… thanks!) I didn’t order any mixed drinks, but I had a glass of Merlot, which was smooth. I would recommend Cheltons if you’re in the area, especially if you get a livingsocial deal, as I did. I will be back.

For those of you who know me, I travel ALOT. In fact, I have been traveling so much lately, my cat at home sometimes wonders who I am… LOL. Alas, having said that, I am usually anti-hotel restaurants. But for us road warriors, sometimes, it’s necessary, especially when I was not feeling well, and it was snowing and freezing outside during a trip to NYC. Sooo…having been to Chelton’s bar in the past, I have had a chance to take a look at the menu… and it looked like it had decent choices… hearty meals which is what I needed… so I decided to give it a try. Because I was down with a cold, I decided to start with a bowl of the lentil soup. Now, I know I have had better, but with a bit of salt, Chelton’s version was not bad. When I ordered entrée, I wanted something light. However, because the waiter was not very fluent in English, he kept mentioning the special, despite the fact that I wanted to order the fish entrée. And because I was in no mood to argue due to my condition, I opted for the shrimp pasta special, as he recommended. The presentation of the dish… looked great. The pasta… al dente. What was wrong… RAW shrimp. Now folks, I LOVE sushi… and try to have it when I can… but even at sushi do they not serve you raw shrimp. In fact, it’s somewhat unhealthy. The waiter looked at my half eaten first piece of shrimp and said he was going to have it fixed for me. Again, in addition to the distaste that was left in my mouth and my health, I opted to cancel it. What a disappointment. I guess I should stick with burgers and fries next time… IF there is a next time!
