It’s okay. Want real Mexican, head to Mizunte on Madison Ave or Bakersfield in OTR.

My husband and I visited this location last Wednesday and was impressed by the fast customer service. Our steak fajitas were amazing! Our Waiter was Timothy, not only did he take care of us in a timely manner but did it with a smile.

Horrible slow service and they never made my dinner correctly… even after I sent it back twice!!! I’m not a very picky person and I never send my food back. However, there were so many mistakes in my order that I did send it back, only to be disappointed by a remake that was still incorrect. In particular it had a sarcastic amount of cheese. Also, I waited about twenty minutes for the remake, after a long wait for the original. I could not finish it. My finance had chips and margarita dropped on him, without much of an apology at all. I have eaten at many locations and the food has always been delicious. However, this is the worst location, I will never return…

Been here twice. The first time they messed up the to go order and the manager agreed to help us the next time we came in. So we went back and he did. The food was pretty good although I got sick after the second time. Not sure if it was from the food or not.

Chuy’s is mediocre, at best. When we arrived, we were seated right away. We got our drinks and chips/salsa and we ordered almost immediately. Our server didn’t come back to check on us for nearly 20 minutes, at which point I had to ask for more chips and salsa, which we had clearly run out of. We waited another 20 minutes for our food before our server told us the kitchen had accidentally boxed them for to-go and that’s what had taken so long. Five minutes later they finally had our orders plated and brought out. I ordered the Baja fish tacos and while they were generous on the fish, all the other toppings were in short supply. It was basically grilled fish on a tortilla. Also, my tortillas were soggy. Not sure how that’s possible with such minimal toppings. Anyway, the server did not ask how to split the check and brought out everything in one bill. Once we did have it split, he had overcharged my friend on her meal. The paying portion of the meal took forever. The food is not good enough to be worth the hassle. If you’re anything like me, you will try this place once and never go back.

Not the best, not the worst! This is your run-of-the-mill Americanized Mexican bar and grill chain. I was surprised at how packed the place was so we ate at the bar. The food came out really fast and the dips for the tortilla chips were exceptional. Their taco salad is really good. We enjoyed the red sangria and the bartenders were friendly.

We popped in here for dinner /happy hour on Friday. Having never been here, we weren’t sure if it would be packed but perhaps because it was Good Friday, we strolled right in. We opted to sit in the bar area, which is open seating. Dave was our waiter, and he was excellent. He steered me away from ordering what I chose initially, even bringing out a sample of the meat later so I could confirm his opinion. He was on top of everything and lots of fun to chat with. We made it in before 7, so we had some of the free nacho bar, a nice perk. We ordered 2 entrees and had plenty of food, could have gotten away with one and the nacho bar. The drinks were excellent as well, we had the house margaritas and the house martinis, both freshly squeezed and quite tasty. We really enjoyed Chuy’s and will certainly be back!

First time there, and I was so impressed. They have a free happy hour nacho bar mon-fri 4 – 7. Everything was delicious and impressively flavorful! I got the steak and chicken fajitas and my girlfriend got a beef burrito(which was huge) and we snacked on the nacho bar too. I wish I had taken pictures of our food for this review but we scarfed. Just found my new favorite tex mex joint! Every room is decorated different too. The room we were in had a bamboo ceiling and on my way out I saw another ceiling covered in shiny tire rims. Very unique décor… a lot to look at :)

I think that the three and a half rating is perfect. I found myself in the area, in need of a Saturday lunch. The place was packed, but we got right in. If you’ve never had Chuy’s and enjoy franchises, you might like Chuy’s more than I did. I do like the bright colors and velvet Elvis portraits on the walls, but I was only there for a salad. I scoped out the menu, but ended up staying true to my plan, and ordered a taco salad. A grilled chicken taco salad, to be exact. It was priced at $ 9.49. My friend got the Mexi Cobb grilled chicken salad, which was almost the exact same thing, minus the taco shell, but hers was $ 9.99. Less food, but priced more… that was strange. I did like it though, they didn’t bring out the dressing for about another five minutes, after they had brought out the salads. The chips are thin and the salsa is excellent, but the show stopper there is the creamy jalapeño ranch concoction. You have to ask for it, but it seems like the chips were made for it. The service was odd, not exactly what I’d call horrible, just not attentive. Remember when I mentioned that I had to wait like 5 minutes for dressing? Maybe it wasn’t his fault that the kid’s meal and the dressing weren’t brought out with the salads, but his response wasn’t attentive once it was brought to his attention.

I’ve been here three times and been disappointed three times. The food is OK. Tortillas are good and the chips are light(but not sturdy enough for dipping). Salsa is watery and everything else is bland. Service has always been pleasant enough, but came with a group for lunch and it took two hours. Happy hour deals/nacho bar is the best thing they have going.

First time to Chuy’s. Went with my son and daughter. For a Mexican chain restaurant, I enjoyed it. The waiter was good and attentive. I had the combo #4, daughter had crispy tacos, son had chicken fajitas. The food came out quick and tasted very good. I really liked their chips and salsa.

Simply delightful! Love the food! The food is delicious and tasty! Start with the Nachos and creamy jalapeño sauce — the chips are salty and crisp, the sauce is unique and goes great with the chips. If you visit on Weekdays between 4−7pm you are have Queso for free from the Nacho Bar! My favorites are Elvis Presley Combo, Southwestern, Steak Burrito, Crispy Tacos, Enchiladas with Deluxe Tomatilla sauce and Hatch Green Chile sauce. All are great, fresh, warm and smells wonderful. The store service is wonderful! I frequent the same servers but from time to time issues arise and store management is quick to fix the problem. Stop in today and try some of my favorites. I know you’ll love the place, the food, and the people.

Came here on a Friday night and this place was horrendous. I’ve been to the locations in Austin and the food and service is much much better First off, it took 30 minutes for the waiter to bring water. I ordered the chili relleno with ground sirloin. The food was ok, not as good as in Austin. And then when the waiter came to deliver the checks, he brought the individual checks to all the wrong people thinking that we all looked like each other. He didn’t even apologize, just saying«oh ok». That being said, I like their shirts for sale but probably never coming back here

The first and last time that I went to Chuy’s was in Charlotte, NC. I recall that I wasn’t that impressed with it and I thought the menu was limited. However, I enjoyed my visit to the Chuy’s that opened up in Madeira. It kind of makes me think of a Tex Mex First Watch — it’s a chain, it screams Franchisee Must Have Lotsa Private Equity, and it’s kind of mish-mash, directionless and a bit confused in the décor or image that it’s trying to project. However, the food is tasty(albeit a little over-priced), and you enjoy your overall visit there. And the menu is much larger than what I remembered. I love Hispanic flavors, and enjoy a hole-in-the-wall Mexican joint, an Abuelo’s or a Chipotle. I’m not picky, the flavor combinations of cumin/garlic/lime/and cilantro rock my world. Chuy’s is tasty with a good menu selection. I had the chicken fajita tacos, and I ordered a guacamole appetizer. The salsa and guacamole are bland and flavorless but the paper-thin, crispy fresh-fried chips are DELICIOUS. The grilled chicken meat was bone-dry, but the fresh-made flour tortillas were pillowy-soft and tender — I loved them. The dish came with a hearty portion of refried beans and rice. Overall the $ 10 I paid for lunch was well worth it. The service was forgettable but not terrible on a busy Friday lunch rush hour. The décor is WTH confused(grandma’s bathroom tile meets backyard patio meets tropical rainforest meets fiesta-themed Las Vegas baby shower). I’d come back here again though.

This place is just amazing. Seriously as good as it gets. but WARNING. If you are expecting something like El Rancho Grande or El Toro. DON’T! It’s seriously nothing like Chuy’s. Everything is fresh the margaritas are made with no mix. Favorite items are: Chicka-Chicka Boom Boom Elvis Fried Chicken with Boom boom sauce Macho Burrito(Available on weekends only) Combo #4 with Chicken Relleno w boom boom and chicken enchilada with boom boom Combo Fajita Burrito(Fajita chicken and steak) with boom boom. As you can see I am kind of obsessed with the Boom Boom sauce. Which is a spicy cheese sauce. Ask your server to do a sauce tour to try all the sauces. :)

Love this place. They start you off with warm chips, extra thin(which I love), and spicy salsa. Score. Occasionally, your server will come by with a big scoop of warm chips to refresh your basket so that you’re always enjoying fresh chips. Their guac is a bit pricey but very good. However, it should be noted that it is mild and not spicy, unlike the salsa. The décor here is beautiful and colorful. It feels like a party and all the staff is very upbeat. In addition to typical mexican fare, they offer authentic Tex-Mex(this is the only place I’ve found in the area that offers this) and house made tortillas. There is an expansive bar area perfect for drinks and aperizers. I enjoyed my food and my experience here and will gladly return.

Chuy’s is Mexi-American food… Definitely not authentic, but still pretty yummy! They bring out chips and salsa(salsa is usually really fresh and tasty), but request the Creamy Jalapeño sauce if they don’t bring some bc that is delicious w chips. I usually get the chicken fajitas but they are a bit disappointing as the chicken is always really dry. They make their own tortillas and they are really thick… Too thick in my opinion! With the dry chicken and the thick tortilla, it leaves something to be desired. This past time I switched it up and got the beef burrito. It was good but not great. Ground beef, refried beans and cheese in a big tortilla topped with any of their signature sauces. Their margaritas are tasty and priced well. They just make them in one of those big margarita machines, so don’t expect anything life changing, but they have lots of flavors and they are pretty good!

Wow, didn’t know this was here until I saw a help friend’s review! ***Now stop what you’re doing and take note, unlimited FREE nacho car(chips, salsa, queso, taco meat etc) during happy hour along with super yummy big strawberry margaritas for under $ 5.*** Back to actual review… I’m shocked to have loved a chain TeX Mex place so much, I’m pretty loyal to the local and authentic. The atmosphere is fun and funky. After stuffing myself with all those scrumptious nachos, I ordered the chuychanga, their version of the chimichanga. Here’s another snob alert, I try these everywhere, and they are rarely done right. Chimis are usually soggy or over fried. Here. It. was. PERFECT. The sauce came on the side instead of poured over the top. Chicken filling was tender, not dried out, and loved the cilantro flavor. Chili rice and beans on the side were good. The bf had Elvis fried chicken which he didn’t really like. I tested, and felt it was just overdone(potato chip coating seemed burnt). He still liked place overall too.

Summary: This place has a lot of personality, and a lot of food. Truth be told, the nacho bar brings me to Chuy’s. The food is exactly what you might expect from Tex-Mex. Inconsistency with food keeps it from scoring higher in my book, but does not keep me from coming back! I’ve had birthdays, celebrations, and parties at Chuy’s, and it’s probably because of the nacho bar. I find myself ordering an entrée even though I know I’d never finish it, probably because of the nacho bar. Even if you don’t believe in Tex-Mex food, you can probably come to Chuy’s for the nacho bar(and a beer). The number of toppings in the nacho bar is what makes it great. You have your crispy light chips, cheese, salsa, meat, etc — can’t go wrong there. About half the ingredients that may be on some entrees can be found in the nacho bar. This means two things — first, you can get full off the nacho bar; second, it’s makes the entrée a little underwhelming when it comes out. The entrees are big. I find myself getting the fajita plates a lot because of some misguided belief that I should try to get best bang-for-buck despite already being 90% full by the time the plate shows up. When next day’s lunch finally shows up, I get a mixed reaction. I’ve gotten dry chicken before. I’ve had more luck with the beef, but still, consistency is not great. Service is generally friendly and getting a table is never a problem at around 5PM. However, sometimes food gets a little cold by the time they wait for a full table’s food to arrive. I’ve also had 2 experiences where the order was mixed up. The atmosphere of the restaurant is fun, and if all else fails, remember there’s a nacho bar…

I had the privilege of trying this place out while out in the city for a baseball game; I’m glad my cousin picked this place! I wish I remembered our servers name, but he was amazing. A lot of personality, and didn’t seem phased at all, and got a few giggles out of our playful banter and creative comments, of which some may misinterpret as inappropriate. Drinks were rapidly served, and bills were divided accordingly. I’ve found many places when visiting with a party of 7 or more… Bills can get messed up. The Elvis platter, combo, dish, paten… Shit, I don’t remember what it was called other than it had Elvis in the name. Was good as well as more than enough to feed one. I’ll definitely be keeping this place in mind while visiting the area!
