This is the second time I have used J&M for catering. I am a pharmaceutical rep and do a ton of lunches. Today J&M delivered for 102 people. Todd was on time, did a nice job of setting up, and was extremely polite. It’s nice when people are appreciative of your business. The brisket was tender and the Mac & Cheese was awesome! Their prices are more than fair. I will use them as my go to for future catering needs.

I’ve eaten here many times. Don’t get me wrong with my 4 stars. This isn’t perfect BBQ. This place is a step or 2 up from Rudy’s and 100 steps up from Dickey’s. The food IS tasty though. I really like the beef and bean pints with extra cheese and spicy sauce. The serving sizes are good for the price unlike other wanna be joints not too far from this location. The customer service is always fantastic as well. While it doesn’t represent true BBQ snobs ideals and fantasies it is a great place to stop in and enjoy a meal. The ribs are consistent and if you’re in the mood for the meat sweats then this is your place

I got the 3 meat plate with all sliced brisket and seasoned fries and Mac and cheese as a side. I didn’t really like the Mac and cheese, it was kinda sticky and left a weird film in my mouth. I loved the fries, just your regular seasoned fries. always tasty. I really liked the spicy bbq sauce but I’m not too sure you could actually call it spicy, it had no heat whatsoever. Brisket was good, nice and fatty but drier than I expected. I definitely want to try other bbq places here in Lubbock but this one wasn’t too bad.

Really great, very prompt on delivery! I called them after I made the order online to just make sure they received it, and they did without any issue. The food itself was very good and hit the spot for my BBQ craving. Probably my only issue was I needed more BBQ sauce :)

Best brisket sandwich in town, Good Bbq most sides are good, but others need help(potato salad). Can be pricey.

If I’m being honest, this place isn’t what it used to be. Considering the low number of customers I would have expected a little more attention, like not having to ask for a refill. I got the brisket, ribs, macaroni, seasoned fries, and it came with a Texas toast. All of the items I got, with the exception of the fries, came out luke warm. The brisket was okay, but not the best. There wasn’t much flavor to the ribs, and the macaroni tasted a little watery. The best thing I had during my visit, were the seasoned fries. When you go to a BBQ spot you expect a Texas Size serving, but they seemed to hold back on the portions from all of our plates. Overall it’s not the best spot for BBQ in Lubbock, but it’s still an option.

Lubbock isn’t known for its fine eats, however it does offer a variety of local restaurants that serve amazing food. J&M is an awesome place to strap a bib on and eat some BBQ.

Ordered for delivery through Unilocal/Eat Street. Not only was the food not delivered for lack of delivery drivers, they didn’t have our order ready almost an hour after we placed it. One employee said they didnt have the order, another«found it» after we showed up. The food at J&M has always been good and will continue to eat there. I will not use the app to order again.

Ordered for delivery, it was fast and the brisket had a nice smoke ring and taste but was a little dry. They’re as good as any other place you can get a bbq sandwich

Oh my goodness! RUDE! If I could leave zero stars I would. After reading great reviews about the food I decided to try it. Wanted to order a to go order. Have never been so I grabbed a menu, stood at the counter and decided what I wanted. Two guys behind the counter ignored me the entire time. Even when I looked right at the one guy and he made eye contact, but never said a word. I Was there maybe 3mins and no one even said hi can I help u, seat yourself. Nothing. So, I turned around a left. Food might be great, but hard to tell if you can’t order it.

First time here with my dad. The pulled pork sandwich is fantastic! Mac and cheese is good(I’m a cheese lover.) The waitress recommended fried okra, and it was my first time trying it. I like it! The barbecue sauces are amazing. Spicy wasn’t spicy at all though. Very laid back and informal– café style. If you want to bring a first date out, probably don’t come here.

I lived in Lubbock for a few years when my wife was in law school at Texas Tech. There were not a lot of choices for barbecue. Our favorite spots were Rudy’s and Tom & Bingo’s BBQ. Tom & Bingo’s was included in the 2008 Texas Monthly Top 50BBQ list. They only smoke brisket, ham, and burgers though. DV featured them in a recent article on BBQ sandwiches. I only ate J & M Bar-B-Q & Catering once when we lived in Lubbock and thought it was good. We were in town visiting because the wife’s family still lives in the LBK. I only had time for one BBQ joint on this trip so I had to make it count. When you walk in, you think you would order from the counter, but you actually order from the menu at a table. You do not get to see the meat cut in front of you. I ordered the three-meat with moist brisket, pork ribs, and German sausage. The sides I got were coleslaw and macaroni and cheese. The Certified Angus Beef logo was displayed everywhere on the menu so I assumed that they were using a better brisket. They were better off using a lower grade of beef. I ordered fatty and got lean. The waitress charged me for a quarter pound of moist to get my order«right.» It was like eating dry pot roast with smoke for both types of brisket. There was no bark and the fat was rendered away and/or trimmed away. The moist fell apart when I picked up a slice. As you can see below, I ate everything but both cuts of brisket. The pork ribs were solid. The dry rub combined with the smoke made them tasty. The ribs were very tender. The commercial sausage was just okay. You could probably find something similar at the grocery store. Nothing special to note about the sides, but I did eat it all because I was hungry. I had no idea what to expect in this visit so I came in with an open mind. I am pretty sure I would not be going back to J & M Bar-B-Q & Catering even if I lived in Lubbock. I probably should have gotten the pulled pork instead of the brisket, but that is not how I do things around here. They trim away the fat off of the brisket before it is served. Why? Look elsewhere if you are ever in Lubbock, Texas and want some ‘cue.

They have a great lunch special. Large BBQ sandwich with choice of meat, one side and drink for just $ 6.95. Also have a small sandwich with one side and drink for $ 5.95. The rest of the menu can be either excellent to average. Roll of the dice there. But worth the lunch specials.

Ribs were average, brisket was average, jalapeño sausage was good, fried okra came from a frozen box and the baked beans were terrible. Prices are cheap though and the tea is cross-your-eyes sweet just like I like it.

I stopped in for dinner at this establishment about a week ago on a Saturday night around 5:30p.m., expecting that they would be getting ready for the dinner crowd with lots of fresh off the grill offerings! They did have two tables of guests already seated who were waiting on their food to arrive. I asked the young man behind the counter if he had some«fresh» ribs for the dinner crowd or if they would be what was«leftover» from the lunchtime meal earlier. He very generously offered me a freshly cut rib from a rack he had just unwrapped upon hearing my question about freshness. It was hot, meaty and had a beautiful looking pink smoke ring ! Being too hot to bite into immediately, but very impressed, I ordered the two meat plate of brisket and ribs ! After allowing a couple of minutes for my «sample» rib to cool, I bit into the thick meat with high expectations ! Wow, the smoky flavor was delicious… but the meat did not want to let go of the bone ! lol. I tugged and I gnawed, finally ripping loose a chunky piece of very tasty meat. I worked /chewed on that one rib for a couple of minutes while waiting on my plate to arrive. When my order arrived, all the ribs tasted great, but suffered from the same problem of toughness, being very chewy. My second meat selection was brisket from the«moist», fatty end of the slab. After cutting away the excess fat, I was pleased to note that the brisket shared the smoky flavor of the ribs, but was a little less chewy. My two side orders were BAKEDBEANS and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were only warm, and could have been mashed a bit more to remove the lumpiness. The beans were NOT baked beans, but standard, bland tasting pinto’s, darn ! I wish that the menu had stated PINTO’S instead of BAKEDBEANS, because I would have selected a different side order if I had known. I enjoyed the sauce that they served, despite it being a bit«commercial» tasting. The service was friendly and the waitress checked on me a couple of times for a water re-fill and extra bbq sauce. The facility was clean(including the restroom) and all the staff friendly and outgoing. My two meat combo plate was $ 10.81 total, so I felt like it was reasonable for the meal. I would stop in again if passing through Lubbock again, not too bad at all.

If I see a sign for«2 for $ 5» bbq sandwich pulled pork sandwich or beef, I cannot drive by without stopping. They will give you containers of pickled jalapeño, chopped raw onions, and your choice of mild or hot bbq sauce. Add it all to your sandwich and you are in heaven! I could eat 2, but that makes it less of a treat. My husband loves them too.

I went on a super cold… ice all over the road… kind of a day. The potato with the no bean chili inside, one of my favorite things to make at home… so I ordered it here… did not disappoint. The waitress was super friendly and sweet. The service was fast, the place was clean, the bill was cheap. Way better than binghams from my experience. I will go back for sure!
