I’m Mexican which automatically makes me more critical of Mexican food establishments! I was so shocked at how delicious and flavorful everything I ordered at XOC was. Their happy hour menu serves great portions with lots of meat! The chips and salsa which is served as soon as you sit down is fresh and tasty. Perfect to hold me over until my main course comes. Not to mention their margaritas are big and strong. My favorite is the Tamarindo! It was so good I decided to have my birthday party dinner there and they accommodated all 30 of my friends for happy hour and didn’t get any of our orders wrong! Great customer service! If I wasn’t always on a diet I would eat their every week lol.

2nd time here and both times were great! The happy hour menu is awesome– had the Taco Tasting and the cadillac & spicy margaritas. D was our server at the bar today and he too is great– down to earth, funny, and great service. I would definitely come back just to hang with him!

The primary reason this place is getting four stars is because of our bartender, Ashley… she was amazing… so positive, apologetic when needed, brought such an amazing smile to her work(even though she was slammed!). She even let us try some of the tamarindo margarita! She’s worthy of 5 stars alone(what a fantastic hire!), and the way the manager, Mike, and his other staff handled the evening reinforced our experience. I did deduct one star for a reason I mention at the end of this review, but first a few more compliments: It was Valentine’s night, and they were incredibly understaffed due to some staff who were out sick. The manager, Mike, was all over the restaurant taking care of tables — from bussing to serving to handling customer issues. He was on fire!(And cute, too!) As we were attempting to pay the bill, he took the time to apologize to us for how busy the staff were(due to understaffing), welcome us to the restaurant(it was our first time there), and invite us to come back another night so he could personally walk us through every dish on the menu. What a very generous and sweet guy, especially given the crazy night they were having. One small complaint — the bar assistant, while cleaning some glasses, splashed water all over three of us at the bar, requiring me to grab a few napkins to dry myself off. Instead of apologizing, he laughed and made a joke. Under any circumstance, we think something like that should be accompanied by an apology at the very least… and maybe an offer of a free drink. We mentioned this to Mike and are pretty sure he’ll talk to his staff about it(so I won’t deduct a star for that). Again, the highlight of the night was Ashley! She even went the extra mile to chop up jalapeños for our side of guacamole(FYI, the table side guac has all the fixins, but not the side version). The drinks were also decent, and we loved all the bachata music playing :) The food was a little pricey overall(lost a star for that), but we’ll be back to tour the menu with Mike soon!

I love the food! Better than the food was my server! Pablo was more than the shit. He’s done absolutely everything for my party, from basically ordering for us to telling us everything we’ve ever need and been right about it. Shout out to Pablo and his sweet mustache.

Went here for the first time after working to get some Mexican food. The area and atmosphere seems very chill and trendy. It can get quite loud in here with the tall ceilings though. Service was alright, considering they only came by our table twice during the whole night. Ceviche was NOT good at all… No flavor and bland. But we thoroughly enjoyed the tostada salad wish shrimp!

I was excited to try this place out after hearing great thing about their food and drinks. I’m hoping I just walked in on a bad day because the food was tasteless the drinks were watered down and my overall experience was disappointing.

We had a sponsored Unilocal event here and we’re able to sample various of their dishes. We sampled Ceviche, Capaccio de Hamachi, Quesadillas, Street Corn, Mole Tostitos, Minii Tacos. They also had 3 different flavor Margaritss they were Basil Fusion, Tamarindo, Agave. I tried the Tamarindo it was good but I thought it was strange that they put chili on the rim of the glass I got a plain rim no chili The restaurant has a very appealing atmosphere the patio area was very beautiful the waiters were very nice an attentive I would go again and would recommend it The only downside is that Restaurant is not visible from the main street you need to park and walk pass another restaurant. But you will enjoy it

Came in here for the first time. Located in The Village, in woodland hills. I tried their Mole Poblano, who our amazing waiter recommended and I was not disappointed. Nice and sweet, chocolaty sauce over the breast of chicken, served with rice and some fresh corn tortillas. Overall, the food was great. I would definitely come back and check out their Sunday brunch. But most of all, i would say their service was amazing. Our waiter Gerardo was so attentive, on point with recommendations and with our service overall. Drinks were refilled right away, food came out rather quickly. An amazing experience, especially for a new place in the area.

Too expensive and lacking of any special qualities. My co workers and I came here for lunch only to experience the slowest service ever. We thought about dining at the to go window but since we were in a bigger group we opted to dine inside at the restaurant. I ordered some enchiladas that would’ve been good had they been the right temperature. The interior was nice but a little bit of an awkward table set up. What was upsetting was how slow it was for lunch and how many«waiters» we saw going by but not waiting on us. The few times they actually came to our table they did not make eye contact, did not really seem to be sincere or helpful. In fact they never cleared our table or asked how we were. They were stingy with condiments and when I expressed even a hint of discontent they automatically denied and defended themselves and not once apologized or offered a reasonable explanation. Our waiter literally gave me an attitude that my party and I were inconveniencing them. $ 19 for barely warmed mediocre enchiladas, an overall poor quality experience and a horrible attitude from the staff leaves little to no desire to ever revisit this restaurant… The only positive part of the experience was the kind hostess lady who was very welcoming.

XOC take 2! So I returned to XOC and this time was kindly hosted by their manager, Michael, who wanted me to get the real ‘XOC’ experience and let me say this– when you dig past the fancy post-modern industrial architecture and club-esque LED bar XOC really does have a beautiful Mexican soul. The trick seems to skip the ‘basics’(I’m talking taquitos and quesadillas that you can get anywhere) and favor the bolder items on the menu– don’t be afraid to tango with nopales, poblano peppers, and chorizo. Odds are if you can’t pronounce it, it’s probably delicious! I brought my boyfriend with me and had the esquites as a starter, which is a much cleaner but equally delicious version of an elote you might order on the street, with the table side guac. Then we had their Molcajate which is like XOC’s version of taking out the big guns! I’m talking a bowl made of lava rock filled with this AMAZING sauce and lined with chicken, steak, chorizo, and nopales plus served with rice, beans, and house made tortillas. This was some real South of the border flavor! The cuts of chicken and steak were perfect for making tacos with the nopales and the slices of avocado they give you with the dish. So good! I was even surprised that I liked the chorizo, because I’m pretty picky about my chorizo since I grew up eating it in a particular style, but it was perfect. Word to the wise, don’t come to XOC to order a salad or a burrito. Come here and order some of their signature dishes because that’s where the love and flavor is happening. Oh and if you were wondering if those margaritas were as good as last time, they were EVENBETTER. Cheers!

Took almost an hour to get our food. When it did come out it was cold and tasteless. Unfortunately we did not have the time to have them heat it up as we had to catch a movie. On the bright side the management did comp our meal and one round of drinks.

**warning don’t waste your hard earned money** We visited the outside walk up window for this restaurant and have absolutely NO interest in spending any more money here. 1. It was over priced AND the woman serving us said that this was the happy hour menu/pricing for the sit down restaurant. 2. The portions were unsatisfying and small. 3. The food straight up sucked. The tacos were under seasoned, using bad quality meats, had only one tortilla so it fell apart, and not enough meat. Plus the carnitas and el pastor were a bad Tex mex take on Mexican food. The guacamole was fresh, I’ll give them that, BUT it wasn’t guacamole it was just smushed avocado(no spice or flavor. Truly disappointing.

I love this place. The service is great and I absolutely love their music! It’s a great place to go with your family or a night out with friends. Everything I’ve tried has been delicious. I’ve had their coconut mojito… Delish!

Great service, food, and drinks! Went for the first time last weekend and was seated almost immediately. Ordered a tortilla soup and chicken enchiladas and both were amazing. Also had a margarita that was made fresh with real lime juice not like the crappy sweet and sour you would get at most restaurants. This is definitely an upscale Mexican restaurant. PS: One of the hosts totally looked like Elle Fanning thought I was on some reality TV show lol

This is an upscale Mexican restaurant located at the Village. The restaurant has a nice bar where you can have drinks for happy hour. It has plenty of seating inside and also has an outside patio. I found the food to be average and somewhat overpriced. Not much better than El Torito or Acapulco restaurant. One thing I liked was the tortilla chips they serve you before you dinner is served. You can order Guacamole which the server mixes at your table. The service was great. We had a party of 25 people and they had 2 servers taking care of our party.

Came to The Village to have lunch with my family. As we were walking we passed XOC and were attracted by the sounds of the mariachi band and the delicious food, we decided to give it a try. We were greeted kindly by Sabrina who let us know we had the option of regular menu dining or brunch. For around $ 30 each we opted for the brunch and it comes with 2 mimosas per adult. There were many food options to choose from such as: shrimp cocktail, ceviche, ribs, tacos, quesadilla, enchiladas, chile relleno, chicken wings, Mac and cheese, battered shrimp and much more. Not to mention the dessert table with flan, cake, and chocolate fountain. The food was amazing. I highly recommend coming here for brunch. and come hungry and take your time to enjoy all the delicious food! I was extremely impressed with our dining experience today. I love how the mariachi band came to our table and played a song at our request. And of course be sure to tip because they give a great performance! Also, to keep the kids entertained there was a clown coming around face painting and making balloon animals, he didn’t come to our table though – my daughter would not approve of it as she is terrified of clowns haha. And there is a photographer that goes around and takes pictures of your party and will give you a complimentary post card! And last but not least I must give a shout out to our wonderful server today, PABLO. He went above and beyond for us and provided the best customer service. Thank you Pablo, we will definitely return.

If you come here on a winter evening, bring a coat, gloves, and scarf. Or go somewhere else. We had a very subpar(and chilly) experience at XOC Tequila Grill. The interior is pretty neat– very modern/industrial, with high ceilings, open doors, and a poor heating system. Despite temperatures in the 50s and polite suggestions from many patrons, the manager insisted the doors be kept open. Some patrons were not able to tolerate the frigid temps, and left as a result. Very questionable customer service. Cold. Expect to wait a while, even if it does not look full. They seem to be very understaffed, which I found strange for a newly opened restaurant. Waiting + Cold = not a good start. And now, the food. The guacamole was tasty, but not remarkable. I ordered the steak fajitas, and it’s the first time I’ve had it presented on a plate instead of a sizzling griddle. I thought this was part of their«trendy» approach. However, the steak did not taste fresh, and it was lukewarm and chewy. It was almost as if it was pre-packaged and hurriedly microwaved. Bad food + Waiting + Cold = not a good experience. I’m sure in warmer temperatures, our experience would have been better, but I don’t see how it would solve the long wait times and low quality food.

So far, so good. This is a review of their happy hour. Wine, beer, and well-drinks are $ 5 – 7, not bad of a deal. $ 6 for their Sangria. Very good with berries and apple chunks. We ordered their Esquite, which is basically an elote corn with the corn kernels shaved off and you eat it with a spoon. Delish! This place is trendy looking and invited a clientele of young and middle aged business people, which keeps it classy. Will have to return next time to try their TACOS!

I really wanted to like this place, cool atmosphere, in the new village! The food is subpar and not fresh here, feels like they cook it in a microwave. Anyways they do have a pretty cool flight of tequila, you pick three and it’s a decent price, comes in a cool tower with limes, orange and their traditional chaser. Chips and salsa(2 stars) — good chips, the salsa’s don’t taste fresh, the red one tastes like enchilada sauce. Anyways for the food: Fish tacos(1 star) — disgusting & fishy. I was starving so I didn’t replace it. But it just wasn’t fresh I LOVE fish tacos and this place totally ruined it for me. Go to EMC seafood bar and have their fish tacos 5⁄5 so much better & fresh. These tasted like canned if fried fish could be. Chicken tacos(3 stars) — this was ok, chicken was chewy, ready really quick which is great, but also a concern when it just looks like the chicken wasn’t really made to order. The beans and rice on the side of both were actually good so not giving it less stars. Overall doubt i’ll be back to this place. My parents also came a couple days before and weren’t impressed with the food. Maybe just come here to drink and that’s about it.

3 stars for now!!! They need to hire more people. It’s pretty busy here especially for a Sunday afternoon. They are so swamped and don’t have enough servers or bus boys to go around. The time to get our actual food, the drinks, the check, the to go boxes and refills was insanee!!! The food overall was good everyone enjoyed their meals but their food is pretty expensive. For tableside guacamole it’s $ 13.95…Really? That’s insane!!! I ordered the chicken enchiladas but it was kind of plain there was no cilantro, onions or tomatoes inside it was just shredded chicken. I had to ask for a side of onions, cilantro and tomatoes for some extra flavor. The green sauce on top was good but just not enough. I needed a good pico de gallo salsa but I don’t know if they even had that. The other dishes fish tacos and the pescadora was very flavorful. They do offer complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were great nice and warm the salsa was watery and whatever definitely didn’t like the red salsa. All in all I see potential in this place but they seriously need to hire more staff to attend to patrons because I feel a lot of people were annoyed. I even heard one guy next to us even say to a bus boy I’m just trying to get my check and get out of here. We kinda felt the same way. Our server was a total sweetheart but you can tell she was stretched to the limit. Hopefully they shape up and will look forward to trying this spot in a few months!
