All I can say is w o w ? I’d say the best experience I’ve had at a restaurant that I know will actually stick with me. Firstly the service is spectacular & the food matches up with that factor. The atmosphere is so cute it’s not really a restaurant but more for picking up although they have seats outside & one table inside. update: I think they’re renovating the place so I’m desperately w8ing for them to open back up lmao They were closing soon & didn’t have Mac & cheese which is what we both really wanted so we left but came back after getting our mind straight. So we came back in and the friendly guy didn’t hesitate to take our orders. The chicken sandwich, 6 piece drums, cheese fries & waffle sticks. Literally the best food I’ve had in such a long time. It wasn’t a long wait either. The chicken sandwich that I sampled from my BF was so unique & flavorful. My drumsticks were on point. I got my cheese fries and he even tried giving my money back cause I originally ordered gravy fries and they had no gravy. That said a lot to me so I ended up just giving the money back as a tip. I was in such a terrible mood because I hadn’t eaten & had so much to do after but the meal I had here literally made my entire existence complete. This is no overreaction. I really just can’t believe how effing good this place is. Such a gem. And amazing service. Definitely coming back to take pics I couldn’t cause I was so into the food it was gone by then. I can’t believe I’ve been missing out for however long they’ve been open.

Let’s start by stating, the food is AMAZING!!! I was driving looking for late night eats and found this gem and I’m beyond happy that I did. The owners are so sweet and welcoming and the walls decorated with unique items giving it lots character. As a first timer I ordered the box and I loved every part of it. Had chicken breast, yams, Mac and cheese with so much flavor and love(ooh my, may I please have more), waffle sticks and peach cobbler. Every item flavor completed the other, down to the sweet ending of that wonderful cobbler. I will DEFINITELY be back, and I love the late night hours. Thanks The Spot on Pico for a exceptional end to my day.

First of all this place has charm and the owners have figured out a new great way to do business. It’s all to go and it’s a little hole in the wall. I was driving by and saw some tables outside and decided to stop. I had just eaten, so I ordered the rice and gravy, just to give them a try, it was very good, but then they brought me out some fried chicken and mini waffles, it was amazing, waffles were moist and fresh, but with a great unique flavor. I do not like getting free stuff, because I don’t want people to think I give good reviews because of it, but these owners are passionate about what they are doing and that is what a restaurant should be about, because food is life and you are giving people life. Thanks for the hospitality and I’ll be back soon with a huge appetite…

Well, to start off about the spot on pico, it’s food and the people took me back to nola. Extremely nice people and so is the food. We ordered a supper box to go and it was enough food for two people. I will not go through the specific item list in the supper box which many of the fellow Unilocalers have already done but I would like to add please do not miss the blueberry cobbler. One of the best I’ve had in a very very long time. Either you are up for late night soul food after bar hopping or missing some legit fried chicken, this place is worth a visit. I highly recommend this place and definitely coming back for more.

Wow! Is all I can say everything was amazing. Including the owner. So friendly and nice. I got the supper box, dark meat with Mac and cheese and collards, and cherry pie for dessert. Everything was so great, and what I love is the portions are small, so it’s not overwhelming. You don’t feel too fat eating small side portions. The waffle fries were good the matter was sweet but savory. The collard greens were so good, and I have high standards for greens(thanks to my granny). Mac and cheese was good, had a spice to it, which I liked. Really, really cheesy. Last, but definitely not least the cherry pie was the best cherry pie I’ve ever tasted. The pie crust tasted homemade and the cherries tasted fresh.

Everything here is delicious. My girlfriend and I each had the $ 15 supper box. Both the white and dark meat were tender, the waffle sticks were crispy yet soft, the meat and potatoes were savory, the GRB(gravy, rice, and beans) were rich and flavorful, and both the cherry and blueberry cobblers were vibrant and well-balanced. More important, however, is how friendly everyone was. The gentleman that took our order was very helpful, and the lady that brought us our food was super nice. Great vibe. Highly recommended.

The spot on Pico is a spot on Pico that delivers soul food in a way that touches your soul. Tip: The biggest inconvenience of LA is the lack of facilities. Thank God there is always a church nearby. Aside from bringing an empty bladder you should also bring some purell, half of your meal are finger foods. My Supper Box Fried Chicken: Not too greasy not too dry. A good crunch with a clean chicken taste. Fitting. 4⁄5 Rice and Cheese: It’s rice and cheese. Don’t order this expecting more. 3⁄5 Rice and Gravy: Ditto, it’s not so bad it’s not so bad. 3⁄5 Mac and Cheese: A southern taste to this. My sister is married to a Mississippi boy and it tasted just like his recipe with a deeper love for cheese. 4⁄5 Meat with potatoes: Lacking some spices but it was acceptable. 3⁄5 Cobblers: Satisfying. Ate prior to the waffle sticks. A good lead off. 3⁄5 Waffle Sticks: Everyone will have their own interpretation of these. A good interpretation. I’ll respect yours. 4.5÷5 Did I find it pricey? I did but I drove from Santa Barbara just to eat here so I am glad it was pricey. It would of felt odd to have paid more for gas than the meal itself. For 15 $ I would of hoped for one more piece of chicken, at least. The service was unique. They don’t make you feel like a customer but rather a friend. Did some chit chatting with them and they made me a strong supporter of their vision. I often times drive around my town when I’m hungry wishing it was an option. It’s a stop you should make. It won’t blow you away you but it’s tasty comfort.

After perusing Unilocal for a good late night spot to grab a bite to eat, I stumbled across this place. Little did I know, that this place is only available for late night eats – Friday-Sunday 9pm-2am. The menu was a little confusing and my friend and I weren’t too hungry, so I decided to just go with one of the dinner boxes with an extra side of dark meat. Waffle sticks(5 stars): These were so delicious – definitely more of a dessert-type item, but great flavor and texture. Porch punch(4 stars): We both enjoyed this drink – some type of apple juice with pulp and cinnamon that provided a nice contrast to the saltiness of the meal. Macaroni and cheese(4 stars): The macaroni was super cheesy and had a nice bit of flavor from the peppers that were mixed in it as well. GRB – Gravy, Rice, and Beans(3 stars): This was a side dish I had never had before and it had an interesting flavor, but was probably my least favorite of the night. White meat chicken(3 stars): This chicken was tasty, but it just wasn’t at the same level of some of the other fried chicken I have had recently. Dark meat chicken(4 stars): Not surprisingly, this version had a bit more fattiness and flavor and was quite flavorful – definitely recommend this over the white meat. Blueberry cobbler(5 stars): This was the perfect ending to an otherwise savory and salty meal. The cobbler was very fresh and had a great sweetness to it. Overall, the food from this place was all pretty high quality and the service was as friendly as it gets. My main gripe has to come with the pricing – the chicken is definitely the best value, but I feel like everything else is priced $ 1-$ 2 more than it should be. Our meal came out to $ 20 and it could have easily been eaten by one person.

You know how you go to a place with great food or service, but you wish the other was as great? THIS place. Order the chicken sandwich. Order the Mac & Cheese. Thank the amazing staff. Then call me and thank me for the life changing experience. Literally some of the best soul food I’ve EVER had. I can’t wait to try everything on the menu! I’ll most certainly enjoy making my way thru it…

I was well fed before I even tasted the food. They’ve created a vibe of kindness that somehow spills out into the people who were waiting in line to order — or waiting outside for a food order. We found ourselves chatting happily with the people in line. The employees smiled, touched a shoulder, assured us that our food was on the way, asked *genuinely* about our day. It was impossible to feel impatient. I found myself exhausted and exasperated at having been treated poorly at another restaurant, and Unilocalers, you did not let me down! My search for fast comfort food let me here, to join a line outside a restaurant that really looks more like a stall with a single window at which to order and only enough room for one table inside. It’s a supper club that anybody can join. Membership is $ 1 per month. According to their website, your fourth meal is free. The food was good, and fresh. I felt like there were some items that I’d have made better in my own kitchen, but I enjoyed their versions. We each ordered a supper box, which comes with a choice of white or dark meat, two sides, 3 waffle sticks, cobbler, and a drink. The portions of each were little — but the meal was *very* filling there is just the right amount of everything in the box. Each costs $ 15. The white meat chicken is a thinly sliced piece of chicken breast — about a 5 oz serving. I was surprised, when I opened the box expecting a bone — in chicken breast. Somehow, however, it was just the right amount to satisfy, and was seasoned and fried beautifully — not dry or greasy. They’re served with wing sauce — which was tasty — but not needed because the chicken stood on its own. The waffle sticks seem like cake, or maybe a waffle dipped in egg custard(like french toast) and fried. They’re served with powdered sugar and maple flavored syrup. I wish they’d been served with real maple syrup. They paired perfectly with the chicken. Between the two of us we had sides of yams, greens, mac & cheese and rice and gravy. It was refreshing to be able to try all the sides, as unlike many soul food restaurants, there is no pork in any of the dishes! Greens were tender and pleasant, but nothing exceptional. Yams were over spiced with WAY too much cinnamon. Mac and cheese was the real deal. Rice and gravy was not my cup of tea, but my dining partner LOVED It. We tried pineapple and cherry cobblers. I liked the tartness of the cherry, but the pineapple is novel, and as such, a must try. To wash it all down: Porch Punch. Its a fruit drink that is lightly spiced. I feel like it would be an amazing base for a gin cocktail. ;) I’m pretty in love with this place, and emotionally want to give it five stars. However, the line was REALLY long, but I didn’t mind(and I normally refuse to wait in lines). Some of the recipes could be done better, but the food was fresh and tasty. There is one table inside, and another 3 outside. I enjoyed the vibe so much, I kind of wanted to stay and eat there, but could not. Hence — four stars(and a half if they’d let me!) I have driven by this place daily for months, and never knew it was there! This little gem is only open Thurs, Fri and Sat evenings from 9 pm to 2 am, and is now open on Sundays from 3 — 8 pm. I hear there will be shrimp and grits on Sundays. The idea makes me swoon a little.

This place is bomb! A for sure must try! My first time having some good ol’ soul food & I loved it. We will definitely be coming back! They have a cute, small, & comfy décor going– it totally works out for them. Street parking. 4 tables w 2 seats each, one inside 3 outside next to an awesome heater so u can definitely sit outside and enjoy yourself. We Ordered: — Supper Box w. Extra Drum Sticks — 3 waffle sticks — 2 sides — Blueberry Cobbler — & a Drink For the sides we ordered: Mac and Cheese & «Cheezy Rice»… The Mac and Cheese was gonna take a bit so they brought us other sides instead.(Very sweet of them to bring us extra and a water for my fiancé, complimentary) — Cheezy Rice was delicious. My absolute favorite! I’m a total cheese lover so this was definitely heavenly for me. :) — Gravy French Fries are to die for! Soooo good. I’m glad I tried them because, I was skeptical at first… I would’ve never thought of French fries and gravy tasting good together but, damn it’s fabulous! The gravy tastes homemade, very savory. Second favorite! Only thing I would change next time is request for my chicken to be crisper but flavor wise the chicken was yummy! FYI– they are open at night only(9pm) except on Sunday’s they open at 3pm. Oh, & what great service! The owners were very sweet and welcoming! Great little spot! Thanks guys, we enjoyed dinner & will definitely be coming back. :)

I LOVETHISPLACE! Cannot get enough! The waffle sticks are better than I could ever describe, they are cripsy yet soft, almost a new twist on funnel cake! they give you powdered sugar. It’s open late, and the owner is cool and friendly. The Mac n Cheese is soooo bomb! The cobbler is delicious they have flavors like Peach, cherry, and blue berry, they have a $ 15 box that comes with a meat, cobbler, waffle sticks, 2 sides, and a drink

I can’t believe how overrated this place is. Theres a lot of variety in the supper box but such little portions. My chicken breast was also undercooked. The box is overpriced even for LA standards! I bought my box to go and they didn’t add the cobbler, I didn’t find out until I got home and I wasn’t trying to go back. The owners were nice but that’s about it for this place.

They also gave me some waffle sticks just because !!! Whaaaat? Yes Jesus ! They have some awesome southern sides that I’ll definitely be back for.

I was searching for a place to eat late at night one friday and found The Spot on Pico. I really like that they’re open from 9pm-2am thurs-sun cus now i know when i can stop here instead of dennys or jack-in-the-box :) The food was FOODnomenal(literally lol-ing) i ordered the supper box: *boneless thigh: AMAZING very well seasoned, light and tender *candied yams: lots of flavor, perfect amount of cinnamon, reminded me of my moms *mac n cheese: not really impressed, good but not great, could use more cheese/spices *waffle sticks: really good light and fluffy, comes with powdered sugar and syrup *blueberry cobbler: the CRUSTWASSOGOOOOOOOD and flaky, i didnt think i was gonna like it but the man working there insisted and i really loved it *porch punch: like nothing ive ever had before, spicy, sweet, tangy, overall one of the best dining experiences ive ever had, the service was great and everyone working there seemed like they really enjoyed being there, the music was great(mostly oldies), and the décor was like southern shabby chic. It was well worth the $ 15

This place is amazing. First off, they are only open from 9 pm to 2 am Thursday, Friday and Saturday and they«don’t have diet anything». Yes. Respect. No mistaking what you come to the Spot for — it’s there to satisfy late night cravings for comfort food, likely after a night of drinking. We came here after spending the day at a brewery, and it definitely hit«the spot». I would say that it’s just a smidge more expensive than fast food($ 6.50 for a fried chicken sandwich, $ 3 for sides), but way way way better. The most expensive thing that you can get for one person is the Supper Box, which is a great deal for $ 15. You get any drink off the menu, a piece of fried chicken(dark or white meat), two sides, waffle sticks, and a dessert. Gluttony defined, folks. I had the supper box with white meat fried chicken and sides of mac and cheese and black eyed peas, cherry cobbler for dessert, and sweet tea to drink(after foolishly trying to order diet coke and being shot down). All the food is packaged nicely to go(which makes sense since there are only a couple tables on the sidewalk outside), complete with syrup, confectioner’s sugar, and a sauce for the chicken. We opted to eat there, but it was easy to take my leftovers home since it was already packaged to go. The portions are on the smaller size but reasonable considering the number of calories you are probably packing in to one meal. The fried chicken is boneless and tender and definitely needs to be eaten with the provided hot sauce as it would otherwise be a bit bland. I wouldn’t mind the skin being a bit crispier or the sauce being a bit spicier, but at $ 4 for a piece of chicken($ 3 for dark) I’m not complaining. The stand outs here are the sides. Between my friends and I, I got to sample a bunch of different sides. Starting with the best: the black eyed peas are outstanding, served as they should be with what seemed to be small pieces of bacon. Next best was the meat and potatoes, served as a side of potatoes with ground meat. The candied yams were like«holiday yams» served the way you’d expect at Thanksgiving dinner. Still good but probably our least favorite was the mac and cheese, which skimped a little bit on the cheese and could have been a bit creamier. Not up there at all when compared to the mac and cheese that you can get at restaurants, but for $ 3, still not a bad side if you are in the mood for it. We showed up just as they opened at 9 pm on a Saturday, and no one else had showed up by the time that we left about 30 minutes later, telling me that this place is still a bit of a secret. I struggle with letting the secret out and causing long lines to form here(as they inevitably will) but I also want to ensure that The Spot remains open to satisfy my late night cravings.

I love this place. I am not a huge fan of soul food. It’s often too greasy and heavy for me. But this place is anything but! The food is awesome. It’s a great little spot, but only open Thursday through Saturday and only at night. But it’s definitely worth it! Everything here is great. The chicken, the waffles, and especially their gravy which they put on their fries or mashed potatoes. I want it all!!!
