We came here last week for dinner for the dine LA event. Our server, Brennan, was excellent. I got the lamb ribs which were absolutely delicious. The steak was also good, but the lamb ribs were the best part of the meal. The Apple cobbler and cheesecake desserts were also wonderful.

The location was nice, servers seemed a bit cold and not friendly but not rude. The tuna poke was good, the kale salad was pretty good, skirt steak was very tasty and tender, halibut was fair, cobbler was good and cheesecake was good. The steak stood out and the kale salad. the servers were all attentive just not friendly or went out of the way. Very dry and cold ambiance.

The cilantro chicken lime tacos are phenomenal!!! This is the only dish I’ll order here if I come back. But I’ll order 2 of them since they are tiny and someone always ends up eating one of my tacos. :) The flavors just burst in your mouth and are just really mouth watering. The service was good and the other dishes were okay. The lettuce wraps were okay wasnt a fan of the chicken and the flatbread was alrite. I’ve had better elsewhere. All in all a good spot to have lunch and enjoy eating outside on the patio and people watch.

Went here one evening on a Saturday. The outdoor seating has a nice view of the tree during the holidays. The waiters were extremely friendly and attentive. The food was forgettable. Not bad. But not amazing either. It’s Nordstrom, so you can only expect so much. It’s basically the place you take your low maintenance friends from out of town for a «nice» dinner. Decent place to have a drink during a shopping break though.

I suggested we go to this place after having gone to the Bar Verde at other locations. Good thing is that it is open late and inside the gorgeous Grove. Bad side, pretty pricey for the meal’s worth. I get it it’s Nordstrom’s café, but still. I love their glazed shrimp salad because it is low in calories. Also, the olive tapenade they bring with the bread is great. I did not really enjoy my cocktail, the white sangria. It was way to sweet for me, even though I’m a sweet fan. The server was funny and helpful so the service was good, but this 3 star rating is purely for the quality of the food/price.

We ended our Thanksgiving roadtrip to Los Angeles at this cool somewhat-hidden restaurant and bar upstairs in Nordstrom. We were seated at the heated patio, which had an incredible view overlooking The Grove, with all of it’s holiday decorations and shining lights and a nice view of the huge Christmas tree. I got the sautéed chicken breast angel hair, which was excellent. The pasta was perfectly al dente and went well with the tomato sauce — a hint of basil and lemon bringing out out the tartness of the tomato nicely. The chicken was precisely done — juicy and delicious, with enough flavour to compliment the sauce rather than get drowned by it. The ambiance here is absolutely unforgettable, especially during Christmas time, and the food is excellent. Also, maybe I’m just used to overpriced SF food, but the price you pay at Bar Verde compared the setting and experience that you receive is definitely something that makes me wish I lived nearby. Definitely a place I will revisit when I am in the area!

Bar Verde is a fun hidden bar and restaurant at the top floor of the store. The patio area over looks the outdoor Grove Shopping Mall. Stumbled across this hidden quaint bar accidentally. The venue itself is small yet perfect in size and the bartenders were really nice and had great service. We decided to sit at the bar for a quick refresher and some Truffle Fries to nibble on. The cocktail was delicious and the fries were cooked to the right texture and tasty. Verde is great for lunch with a beautiful view of the Grove.

One of the better restaurants located at The Grove. You can’t miss it, it is located right above Nordstroms. What I like most about it is the view. I went right when the Christmas decorations went up, so we got to see the snow fall, the Christmas tree, and lights during our meal. DRINKS: We were feeling festive and adventurous, so we tried their new holiday drink, the gingerbread old fashioned. Sounds interesting, right? Originally, I was reluctant because it sounded awfully sweet but our server convinced us that it was good and worth the try. The drink was more of a light brown(very similar to a gingerbread) and had a strong gingerbread scent. The drink had those small regular sized ice cubes, which I do not like especially in my cocktails. I took a sip and immediately thought to myself that this way too sweet and would give me a hangover even though there wasn’t so much alcohol. Our server overheard us saying that we both thought it was too sweet, so he brought us shots of straight up whiskey to tone it down. Very nice gesture but I won’t ever get the drink again lol. FOOD: We shared a few plates to share including: tuna tartare, Italian sausage and mushroom pizza(it was supposed to come with broccoli rabe but we switched it out for the mushrooms instead), and their nicoise salad with salmon. The tuna tartare was fresh and simple. Nice dices of yummy and delicate pieces of tuna accompanied with chips and seaweed salad. It wasn’t overly seasoned and the perfect appetizer portion to prepare yourself for the other dishes. The Italian sausage and mushroom pizza was so good! Not too oily or heavy and had a good amount of both mushrooms and sausages. We both aren’t a fan of broccoli rabe, so it was nice of them to let us substitute the broccoli for mushrooms. For a pizza, it wasn’t super large either. The best thing of our meal was definitely the nicoise salad. Simple ingredients that were of great quality! Everything about this was delicious. A light dressing and the salmon was cooked to pure perfection. A wonderful medium rare that was still the perfect salmon pink color in the middle. The fish was still moist and tender and had good flavors. I would definitely order this in a heartbeat if I were to go to Bar Verde again. Although I was stuffed after this meal, we decided to look at their dessert menu. We chose their decadent chocolate cake which was drizzled with caramel sauce and a dollop of whipped cream. The cake was good but very heavy and rich. I was literally forcing myself to eat the food because I was full. The cake was good, so I made a solid attempt. Unlike the main entrees, this cake was HUGE! It was monstrous. We had plenty to take home too. SERVICE: Amazing! Our server was so friendly and made great recommendations for our food. I truly appreciate him helping out with our drinks situation. If you are at The Grove, Bar Verde is a good choice to eat at.

Am I the only one who finds it awkward that there is a café in a shopping store. The food is okay, but there isn’t much to choose from. It is a little pricey as well. I had the Santa Fe Chicken sandwich and it was really spicy. The spicy seasoning is too overpowering and removes the flavor from the rest of the sandwich. They have really good fries, but Im not going to a restaurant and paying $ 15 for a meal because the fries are good.

Have I ever been unsatisfied? No. Is service always up to my standards? Yes. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this place. First off, if there is a wait it’s usually no more than 15mins considering the fact that the Grove is always busy and over crowded. The staff is always always friendly and very professional and accommodate to your highest standards. The view? Out of this world. If you sit outside on their balcony, you will get pretty much the nicest Grove view especially during Christmas time when the tree is up and lights shining everywhere. The food? OUTOFTHISWORLD! Everything and anything I want. I switch up my orders sometimes so my top 3 dishes are the burger, southwest spicy chicken sandwich, and the honey walnut shrimp salad. I also love their tomato bisque soup. When it comes to drinks I usually order the Arnold Palmer or their red seasonal sangria. One thing I would want them to improve upon is always providing us with straws. They usually don’t unless you ask. But I feel like they shouldn’t have to wait for the guest to ask and rather throw a handful on the table. *makes life easier* Give this place a try and you won’t regret it!

Two thumbs up for Bar Verde. I was so excited to try out Nordstrom’s new restaurant post-renovations and this place did not disappoint. From their cocktails to their starters to their entrees, everything was yummy. I fell in love with their Kale salad on my most recent visit. Adding salmon really knocked it out of the park. Special shoutout to their manager. I went in looking for a special cocktail I read about on Unilocal and the server was a bit confused at my request. He and the manager stopped at nothing to make sure they found out what it was I wanted. After a while I felt bad and told them it was okay and I’ll take a white wine instead. He ended up bringing me the white wine AND the cocktail I asked for ONTHEHOUSE. Now that’s what I call quality customer service. Thanks for getting me tipsy, Bar Verde. Can’t wait to go back!

I have finally made my way to the Grove after living in LA for just a month and it really is such a beautiful place to shop and dine in especially at Bar Verde. I came here for lunch and had nothing but the best experience. I only had a 15 min wait and was able to shop at Nordstrom for the time being! In addition, the staff was very friendly including our server! While waiting for our food(which was very quick) we enjoyed a view off the balcony and I’m all about views! I picked the Santa Fe Chicken sandwich and it was AMAZING. Not too spicy but just the right taste. Would definitely come again!

The food is very good. I’ve been here twice already. However, service is terrible. Both times I’ve gone, I’ve had to wait forever for food and drinks. What makes it worst about waiting is that on both occasions there hasn’t been many people there. The first time I came was with a small group of friends. We had to wait forever for our drinks and the server wasn’t very helpful with choosing food. She made us feel rushed. The second time I went was during happy hour and we sat at the bar. The bartender was nice but not helpful at all. He took almost 15 mins to greet us, after he did, we told him that we came for happy hour. Since he took so long to greet us we ended up having less than 30 mins to order. He forgot to give me water 2 times and since he took long with our drink order, we had 10 mins to order food from the happy hour menu. Let’s just say we left hungry. I was so annoyed with the customer service that we left and didn’t bother to order food from the regular menu. I’m very disappointed because the food is very good, maybe that’s why they don’t care about customer service.

Know this about me: I only spend time writing a review if I’m passionate about my rating. This spot may be located in the heart of tourist-ville, but it’s a hidden gem! Sitting upstairs above the chaos, I’ve had nothing but attractive experiences here. So much so that… I’VEBECOME A REGULARATBARVERDE; IT’S THATGOOD. I bring newbies as often as I can, who in turn mirror my love for the food, atmosphere, and service. Amy, thank you for being such an attentive and welcoming server. Feels good to be taken care of after a long workday. Music choice is key too! Wanna dance? Ahi appetizer — YUM Flatbread — Can’t go wrong! Santa Fe chicken sandy — New found love. Burger — WHAT! *side salad = simple beauty OR *fries with garlic lemon aioli = hooked White chocolate bread pudding = SERIOUSLY?! Date night, group giggling, or party of one! SEEYOUSOON, ALWAYS.

Bar Verde is fresh and unique. Located inside Nordstroms on the top floor at the Grove in Los Angeles. They have a great bar and outdoor seating that over looks the Grove. Which is great on nice cool days or sunsets for dinner. So far the only items I have tried from their menu is the Cilantro Lime Chicken Tacos. Amazing ingredients with romaine, yellow pepper, tomato, cilantro lime vinaigrette, and queso fresco. If your shopping and need a nice snack try these tacos!!!

I popped in on a gloomy day to get something at Nordstrom and noticed a few changes to the menu for the better! The short rib French dip is now a short rib grilled cheese~ And thanks to the overcast weather and a waiter’s recommendation, I had the perfect lunch pairing: tomato soup and a grilled cheese. The savory Roma tomato basil soup satisfied my craving without being too creamy or sweet. The grilled cheese however tasted so elegant and refined… quite the opposite of what my tongue was expecting. First off, the bread was on point, and the short rib was delectable and well proportioned. The Saint Andre cheese was super buttery — like a super intense Brie. That dense creamy nutty cheese paired with blackberry jelly threw me off. The short rib grilled cheese was a complex and daring new take that caught me off guard and overwhelmed me. Every sandwich at Bar Verde comes with the perfect side of crispy thin cut sea salt fries with roasted garlic lemon aioli. These fries are consistently good. The white chocolate raspberry semifreddo is code for ice cream cake with blackberry sauce and macademia nuts. Just as amazing as it sounds. Bar Verde is quickly becoming a top 3 contender as my favorite place to eat at The Grove!

This was an extremely weird dinner experience. I came for DineLA which was a $ 30 dinner with my two roommates and we were hoping to have a great meal. Not saying it wasn’t great, some aspects were spectacular! It was just … weird. First of all, its in the Nordstroms. This isn’t really a big deal, but you see the clothing from where you’re eating haha. This didn’t lead to my star deduction. We ordered our food from the preset menu and waited. and waited. and we were hungry… and waited more. So finally, we asked for bread, not knowing if they actually had any to offer. We had to ask twice and when we finally got it, we already had our appetizers. kind of defeats the purpose of having bread. The bread was cold(not room temp, cold) and hard. Our appetizers were wonderful! Loved all three – beef tartare, cauliflower, and lettuce cups. But… we hadn’t even finished halfway through our appetizers when our entrees came out. We obviously weren’t finished, either. So we had to wait forever for our appetizers but then our entrees are rushed out and there was barely any room on the table… okay… The salmon was perfectly cooked and i loved everything about it. The portion was also big so I had enough to take home! One of my roommates found a weird piece of wire in her dish, but we didn’t say anything because we were mostly done and enjoyed it so didn’t want to complain. For dessert, two of us ordered the«apple crisp» and one of my roommates ordered the«carrot cake» We wanted the cheesecake but they had run out and none of us were interested in the chocolate mousse. The«apple crisp» was just plain sad. It’s like they realized they ran out of cheesecake so they were like«oh shit we have to throw something together! We have apples laying around! It was half cooked and was very reminiscent of the healthy dessert alternative I make at home when I’m craving apple pie but don’t want the calories. I cut the apples into chunks, sprinkle cinnamon, and MICROWAVE it for 2 minutes. It was exactly like that with a buttery(actually very nice) crumble and ice cream. So it was not even healthy. The apples were in chunks, skin on, and were still crunchy. The carrot cake was another story. First of all, the plating was disgusting. Second of all, I think they ran out of carrot cake and scraped together the crumbs(which were 100% stale) and then threw it together. Just gross. Also, didn’t taste at all like carrot cake. I have no idea what the hell that was. So, at the end of our dinner, we were like … WTF? We loved the entrée and apps, but the timing was all wrong, the service was inconsistent within a single meal, and the desserts were like dog crap. Confused and won’t be back. Not worth the $ 37 for tax and tip.

I visited Bar Verde during DineLA and had an appetizer, meal and dessert for $ 30 and overall, the meal was not disappointing. Although the meal started off slowly(our waters took about 15 minutes to arrive), the appetizers and bread came shortly thereafter, and the service picked up quickly after that, albeit too quickly(our main course was brought out just minutes after our appetizer.) For a main course, I had the salmon, and although good, I would not pay the restaurant’s normal price for this average meal. I especially would never re-order the apple turnover, which looked like it had just been made minutes prior and was barely a dessert at all. One thing I will commend is the restaurant’s drinks. I had an incredible Arnold Palmer for only $ 2.95, which I highly recommend trying.
