Been coming to Ono at Fox Hills Mall back in 2002 when I used to work in Culver City. Second time here at this location and everything went great. My first time though, the cashier messed up with our order. Even after I repeated twice back to her and vice versa. We only had 3 orders. We left as soon as our order is ready. Went back home. Upon removing our food from the plastic bag, we noticed there were 4 items in there. We didn’t want to waste our time, gas and energy going back there. I guess I’m just venting. Anyway, I always get the Hawaiian BBQ chicken. For the price, you get two scoops of rice plus a macaroni salad. Panda express is like 2 doors down. I’d rather go here. Parking is a little stiff at this location. You really must show that you’re waiting and saw the parking spot first. Otherwise, people in this area will eat you alive if you show your weakness.

DELICIOUS!!! If it weren’t for the terrible parking lot I just might have given them a 5 star rating. That’s just how tasty my BBQ& Katsu Mix was. Ono looks just like any other fast food chain inside, like the nearby Panda Express, Subway, etc. But I have no complaints with the food or service. We were even asked if this was our first time coming here and offered samples of the Katsu Chicken and BBQ Beef without even asking first. That settled it for me, the #44 please! I enjoyed everything on the plate, including the cabbage which I didn’t feel was too much as some have complained. My Katsu Chicken was much tastier and better seasoned then my recent experience with it at Bento Man(not bad either). Also, don’t forget the Katsu Sauce, pure heavenly nectar! The rice and macaroni salad were extremely good as well. And every bit as scrumptious as the Katsu were the other two stars of the dish, the BBQ Beef and Chicken. I was a happy camper when through cleaning my plate. Oh yes, and my wife enjoyed her Teriyaki Chicken too!

Not happy with my experience here. I had to return my to go order after I got it home and ready to eat because it looked like someone thought it would be funny to give me the 6 smallest most over cooked shrimp of the bunch. There was no apology or offer to make up for the messed up order. I’m just happy I got my money back. See posted photo and compare to other photos of their shrimp.

I say oh no to Ono. Well this place is cheaper than other Hawaiian places I’ve been to but that’s not really a good thing. The quality of ingredients is very sub par. Average at best. The chicken especially is very nervy and chewy. The spam in the spam musubi was soggy as well. The macaroni salad was pretty bland. The only pros were the two scoops of white rice and the flavor of the fire chicken(sans chicken) which was spicy and tasty. Overall, I wouldn’t return. If you are really into fast casual Hawaiian food visit moana on San Fernando rd in burbank!

Stopped by to grab a snack on the way home as my friend and I were about to endure some terrible traffic. I asked for a simple order of spam musubi, sat down and waited. I was the only person in the restaurant waiting for an order. Please tell me why it took around 15 minutes for two pieces of spam musubi? I know why, because right after I ordered all of the employees started chatting and taking group pictures on their cellphone in the middle of the restaurant. I was very patient, however I had someone waiting in the car for me so we could go home about an hour and a half(in traffic) away. I’d say after about 10 minutes of picture taking, I watched as one employee went into the back and finally picked up the receipt with my order on it and started to prepare my spam musubi. I work as a server at a restaurant and if I were to stop helping waiting customers to take photos or use my phone, I would have been fired. The girl who helped me was very nice, and she apologized. But I should not have waited that much time for a quick simple order, with no other orders that were ahead of mine, especially knowing that the employees had not acknowledged my order until they were finished with their group photo.

I eat at Ono regularly. Don’t usually come to this one. But I know why now. Didn’t write a review before. But now that its still happening. The food here is great. Its the way they prepare and serve you the food. You will get a lot of cabbage nelow your meat. Which makes it look like you got what your paying for. But in turn. You feel jipped. So far this is the only Ono Hawaiian that seems to do it. Others just give you a nice light bed of cabbage with well enough meats. And on weekdays. Expect to see people in here eating with you that didn’t even buy anything in here to begin with. Bad management i say and now i am left thinking«why did i chose this place?»

I absolutely love the chicken katsu! There’s nothing wrong with the food, but the service deserves less than a star. They’re rude, slow, and it is always extremely cold in the restaurant. I have phoned in my order so I could avoid these problems, came after 15 minutes, and still had to wait in the restaurant because the slow staff didn’t check the side to see if my order is ready. St. Andrew’s Place has terrible parking also, but that’s not the restaurant’s fault.

Terrible! Food was gross and nasty. And the location is scary with a terrible parking lot. Appropriate restaurant name, ohhhhh no!

Good tasting food… nice staff. Prices are way too high…$ 8.99 for a meal… OUCH! The neighborhood is a little questionable with all walks of life walking along the sidewalk.

Ono is located in busy St. Andrew’s Place along with Starbucks, Panda Express, Yogurtland, etc. so Parking there is Super Extra shitty! Do yourself a favor and park in the 7 – 11 parking lot across the street instead. Ono is basically decent Hawaiian food with generous portions at affordable prices. The Chicken Katsu meal is about $ 8 and includes chicken on top a bed of cabbage, two scoops of rice, and macaroni salad. The Chicken Katsu is good, but not nearly as crispy as I like it. The ONLY reason I come here is to satisfy my occasional Chicken Katsu cravings. And since there’s no L&L in or near my area, Ono will just have to do!

This chain restaurant is located on Sunset near St. Andrews Place in a new block of retail and food outlets. Came in for dinner one night and ordered the healthy option which you can have that includes a side of Cole slaw, rice and a meat if your choice. I selected chicken. Unfortunately, they didn’t offer brown rice which would have made this«healthy option» healthier but it seems most of these Hawaiian places don’t. The meal was decent, nothing special. I was so unenthused to even snap a photo, so oh well. With so many other more interesting places in this part of town, I’m not super inclined to return. Although, maybe good in a clutch, I’d really rather eat somewhere else. Perhaps if they served brown rice, I could consider coming back. Actually, nah. Chalk one up for experience.

After a stroll through Lowe’s across the street, I was starving and just couldn’t fathom waiting to get home to fix something for lunch. Asian food is always a win for me, but I’m not too familiar with the whole Hawaiian BBQ thing. Figuring that now would be a good time to acquaint myself, I gave Ono a shot. Here’s all my pluses: 1) Prices. Yes. The prices here are more than reasonable. I got two chicken dishes, rice, and cabbage with dressing for $ 7.50. 2) Taste. Win. Win. Win. The chicken was super juicy and flavorful. Definitely no complaints with the chicken and even the cabbage was surprisingly tasty with that special house dressing they used. 3) Friendly staff No negatives but just a little thing I noticed. The interior seems a little drab. I think they could do a little just to spruce it up a bit, but then again, I’m guessing a lot of people do carry-out from here.

A good restaurant keeps a good hygiene everywhere. Regardless if it is sunset blvd. Restrooms are gross. Got a stomach ache after eating, might’ve been mental but I just didn’t eat comfortably.

Terrible service. I had to tell her my order four times. Even then she seemed confused. I was only saying what was listed on their own menu. I have no idea why this was so confising to her. Never again.

If i could give this a 0 stars for the food i would… being a former Islander myself, i occasionally miss a plate lunch. Since just coming back from visiting my sister in oahu, my pregnant wife had a craving for kahlua pork so i thought i would stop by after my bike ride. I order a non traditional plate with white fish and kahlua pork, with steamed cabbage instead of salad/mac salad. So on my receipt i got up charged for a side of steam cabbage without being told, when my order finally was ready(i was #336 and #345 had already been called) i was so frustrated just grabbed my food and headed home. i open our togo box to find one TINY piece of over cooked fish, dry flavorless kahlua pork and enough rice for 5 people… NEVER again.

Decent Hawaiian fast food. I don’t have much to compare it too but the meat is of above average quality and you can find the sweetness similar to Korean BBQ here. Overall a solid spot. The macaroni salad is bomb. Parking is disgusting here in the lot.

(Took Out 01÷14÷13 M @ 8pm): Oh no you didn’t! A Groupon offer to this bomb place?! Shaka brah! The Groupon offer($ 20.00 worth of food/drinks for $ 10.00) nearly burnt a hole in my pocket before I used it at the Ono Hawaiian BBQ closest to my pad. You see, it was about to expire and I merely forgot about it. I was lazy and tired this particular day so the planets aligned for me to hop into the Toaster and brave the Hollywood drive-home traffic. Thankfully, it was late enough by this time so I got there rather quickly. I already knew what I wanted before I walked in, so as I started to place my order, the nice woman told me about their«10-year Anniversary Aloha Deal» promotion which was still going on. Basically, the deal required that you purchased select entrée meals and for a couple bucks more, you had a choice of either a cap, t-shirt, or a tumbler. Once I heard this, my eyes grew to the size of platters and I needed to reevaluate my order. I scanned the menu on the wall above the counter and went with the following: teriyaki chicken , Hawaiian BBQ chicken , and island White fish ($ 10.00 ea.). Normally, each meal sans promotion and swag were between $ 6.00-$ 7.00, so a heck of a deal if you asked me. I chose two shirts and a tumbler . I took a seat and checked out my new swag while I waited for my food. More people started to seep in as I received enough food to feed a Pygmy village. In this case, food for two and plenty of leftovers. Even though all containers were closed properly and the plastic bag tied shut, the heavenly aroma of «island grindz» filled my car. They should make a car freshener out of this! Spread out upon the kitchen table, my friend and I took a bit of everything. Each meal came with two scoops of steamed rice, a scoop of macaroni salad, and some leafy salad(how did that get in there!?). The rice was your standard variety which helped to sop up some of the sauces and juices. The macaroni salad was made to perfection which meant in my book not too much mayonnaise. But the Flip in me wanted some sweet raisins and pineapple bits in it! The teriyaki chicken was moist and the pieces where cut into the right size. Teriyaki had soaked its way through into the meat, so it was one sweet bite after another. Rice and greens, please. The Hawaiian BBQ chicken had just enough scorched marks for some crunchiness. Again, the meat was so moist you barely needed to chew it; just take it down whole! The four pieces of Island White fish were huge and meaty! I grabbed some extra condiments to dress-up the fish, but it was so flavorful it wasn’t needed. Don’t mistake these for giant-sized fishsticks because they’re way beyond that. The service was great as I received courteous and kind attention from the young lady who took my order. I’m sure it also helped that I was the only person in line while others were already seated and ate their food. The food came out in less than ten minutes all wrapped-up and ready for transport. But the biggest props was for when she told me about this 10-year anniversary promotion(2002 – 2012) they still had. Great food at a discount and free swag — score! Parking was a challenge since I didn’t see the private lot they supposedly had. All I saw was metered street parking along the main strip of Sunset Blvd. and side streets. So I parked next door at the soon-to-be-closed OSH(as of this review date). Overall, I found Ono Hawaiian BBQ to be one of the closest things to being back on the Islands. L&L Hawaiian BBQ is another one. Now and then, I needed to satisfy some island grindz urge, so this was a touch of island on the mainland. Don’t fool yourself, this wasn’t exactly healthy food. I found great value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above(total bill before discount and tip was around $ 32.00), but if you’ve been to any Hawaiian BBQ place, the portion size alone gives it my thumb up. The atmosphere, décor, and ambience was simple with some Hawaii paraphernalia hung on parts of the walls. Table and chairs somewhat crammed together with a distinct aisle that led to the order counter. Brightly lit with a high ceiling, and no TVs. The attire was totally casual so I was in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. And they accepted my credit card of choice… AMEX!
