Habibi Cafe

This place looked nice at first, but the servers are rude and require you to order a certain amount. They came to us and said we should pay cash because they didn’t bother us… I’m not really sure what that means. They value money over the customers experience.
They marked our bill to $ 150. Then when we looked into it and told them it couldn’t be that high, they said they made a mistake and removed the bill to $ 90! Apparently they do this to many of their customers, thinking they won’t catch it. Beware!

I have been coming here regularly for about half a year for hookah mostly, and will definitely keep going.
I miss my home country very much and I love going to Habibi cause the place makes me feel like home (the food, Arabic music, the staff, decorations)
The owner is very attentive and you can always catch him genuinely greeting customers himself. He’s very down to earth and will always make you feel special.
Did I mention lots of celebrities are spotted here? I once met a famous Egyptian actor (Ellibliba).
Their Mullikhiya was the best one I tried in LA, not to mention the big chicken portion they include.

Guys, I did not believe in all negative reviews and decided to give this place a chance. I regretted. Do not believe in 5 star reviews. This is a regular practice for many business owners in Westwood to write fake reviews about each other’s and their own businesses. So shameful!
The hookah was tasteless. The food was tasteless and dry. Customer service did not really care about customers. Our waiter was very arrogant and did not show any respect. In addition, he smoked just in front of clients’ tables in the street. But I will not give a business just 1 star because of these reasons.
The most important and negative thing for me is the impudent taking advantage of people. This place does this. First, there is so much pressure to up sell to you. Second, if you say no, they still will bring things you did not order. Third, side dishes are included in entry price, but you’ll be charged for them at the end in addition to automatically included tip for party of just two. Therefore, we were charged for sides, which were included in the entry price according to their menu, and the hookah head we did not order.
If you are a person like me, who does not really check out the restaurant’s bill because you trust the place and do not want to waist your time, you will pay $ 10-​$ 20 from a check for two for nothing. But my husband is a different type of person. He asked why and requested to recalculate our bill. The waiter started to argue, first. Can you believe in a such level of impudence? Finally, he agreed that we were right and brought the new check. But there was still a mistake. We still were charged for things we did not ask for. Just After the second recalculation, the waiter brought the correct check with already included 18% (I believe) tip.
Be aware of this place. I am sure that they are still in business just because of their perfect location. UCLA. Westwood Village. Hundreds of students are passing by. But this place does not deserve even a one star.
