Every time I come here I always get Nachos De Jose and/or horchata. I enjoy the food and so does my boyfriend. We probably should expand on the giant menu they have but we just like what we normally get. This place is an easy walk from campus or north of wilshire apts. it’s across the street from diddy reese.

This was a little college spot that you hit for a late nice Mexican fix. It is located in the middle of a large strip of bars are partiers, but I was the only person in the restaurant. It was close to closing time so im guessing that is why. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and added bacon to it. The quesadilla itself was very filling and actually ended up being way more food than I needed for such a late night meal. The chicken however was very bland, and had absolutely no seasoning on it at all. A little seasoning would have helped it out tremendously. Thanks goodness for the cheese and bacon which helped some, but that chicken(the star of the dish) was lacking big time. I hate guacamole, and the to-go plate they gave me had 3 sections. Sour cream, Guac and the quesadilla in the largest section. They stuck a whole portion of the quesadilla in the tub of guac unfortunately, and it almost made that piece inedible. If I ever eat here again, I will be SURE to say no guac if you don’t want it to get all over your entrée.

The best late night food. Check out the Carne asada fries. Delivery is cheap and reliable.

I like having this place as an option for delivery. Good isn’t bad but it’s not my fave by any means. Super cheap but ordered guacamole and yucckkk. I have no clue what that was but not guac. I see in the owners review he emphasizes fresh. That guacamole is not fresh if it even is guacamole

This is a typical fast food Mexican burger joint of ok quality. They used to have good Carne Asada fries but now it’s hit or miss. This is drunk people food. Either you’re going to get drunk later or you’re already drunk. If you follow the sidewalk up Broxton to LeConte and then up Gayley, there’s a high chance(especially on a Thursday night) that one of the vomit piles is Jose B’s. Regardless, this place is never going out of business. It’s too close to the campus and has been here forever.

Food arrived almost an hour late, although the driver was very nice. As far as the food goes… Well, every taquito I’ve ever had in my life contained melted cheese — so naturally I expected the«chicken taquitos» I ordered would too. But not only did they not contain any cheese, THEYDIDN’T CONTAINANYCHICKENEITHER. It was literally just an empty tortilla that had been rolled up and deep-fried. The guacamole was watery, and although the teriyaki chicken bowl I ordered wasn’t bad, it wasn’t really anything to write home about either. Overall very disappointing.

Disappointment. I ordered the Vegetarian Breakfast Burrito for a couple reasons, mushrooms, eggs, guac and potatoes as well as some free side tortilla chips. Well when I got my food I did not get any side chips and about ¾’s thru my burrito I started finding random vegetables that are NOT supposed to be in this burrito. I found 1 green pepper and about 4 pieces of onion and I dont like either! Im not a vegetarian, I just wanted a burrito with eggs mushroom and potatoes. smh I’ll try this spot out one more time in the future and write another review but for now 3 stars for mediocre.

This review is just for the food. Had it delivered, and I’ve never been in the restaurant. Food arrived quick enough, so that’s fine. And it’s pretty cheap. No complaint there. Food was really quite bad, everything I ordered was disappointing. And I’m not some diva about food; I happily eat everything from Taco Bell to haute cuisine. I had a burger, potato salad, tortilla chips, guacamole, taquitos, a taco, and cheesecake(okay that sounds like a lot, but actually the portions are pretty small). Potato salad had no tang, taquitos were dry, stale, needed salt. Burger was bland — I don’t even know how that’s possible since an unspiced beef patty is perfectly tasty. Burger bun was soggy. Guacamole was soupy and bland. Taco meat was dry and tasteless; the onions dominated the taste, and it was more reminiscent of meatloaf than carne asada. Tortilla chips were okay, but the salsa was bland, even for me, and I’m «from the north», let’s say. Even the damn cheesecake was disappointing. The texture was off; it was more like custard and had little flavor. I’ve had better cheesecake from one of those weird vending machines that have sandwiches and milk. If you look at my reviews, I’m generally pretty positive about restaurants. I’m easy to please. I’d be a terrible professional food critic because my discernment is so blunt. But this was just bad food.

Worst food ever. Let’s start off by saying they delivered the food to the wrong address. The person that took the order didn’t confirm the address and delivered it to my co workers home, which is saved in their system, instead of the medical center(UCLA). So that delayed the delivery by about… AN hour. They made other delivery while out food sat in their delivery vehicle and hit cold. So of course by time it got here it was cold. Certain foods doesn’t do well cold, and tacos are one of them. On top of the food being cold, the taco shells was BURNT. So now we have, cold, burnt and soggy hard shell tacos. We would’ve cancelled but most of the staff here tonight worked last night and we came back to work tonight hungry. We figured something is better than nothing. I will never order from here again. Next time the staff orders from here, I’ll pass. Complete waste of money and calories

If I am craving Mexican food, I will go here. I won’t order meals because the beans are not that great. I usually order the tacos that I want… Usually fish or carne asada. The taquitos are great too. I suggest ordering a side of guacamole. If I get lazy to go out, they deliver as well. I believe that this is an average place around UCLA. Not too expensive and not too cheap.

I’ve always wanted to try Jose Bernstein’s because it’s in a super convenient location in Westwood and because it looks cheap. Well, those statements are still true, I guess. I ordered a burrito here and decided to eat in. Look, it was like a Friday night or something, and it wasn’t the most happening place in the world. The guys working were pretty nice, so I’ll give ‘em that. Under the dingy lights, my only friend was the salsa bar. Unfortunately, my friend had been sitting out for a while and looked flat. For basically the only time in my life, I failed to finish a burrito. This is truly a dark spot in my many years on this planet. I couldn’t bring myself to eat another bite of tough carne asada with little to no flavor profile. The thing with me is that I love myself a burrito, but this wasn’t really authentic in the slightest. Maybe I’m too used to awesome burritos. Overall, I walked out with a sense of sadness. The mighty Jose Bernstein’s had failed me.

I would give this place 3 ½ stars. This a small hole in the wall restaurant with good breakfast burritos.

I have to say, it takes a lot for me to write a review for food — but this was one of the BeST experiences I have had trough eat24 I placed a delivery — on the site, ordered a burger&fries&hotdog! The delivery arrived 20 min earlier than anticipated — the food was AMAZING– it was the best HOTDOG — most juiciest burger and incredible fries!!! I am in AW– and will order again

Jose is a small little joint that looks promising from its appearance and menu, but just comes up short on all fields except customer service. The dudes working are super nice, but the food leaves a few things to be desired in terms of Mexican in the region. Part of the problem is that there are so many other places that just do the same thing but better in walking distance. There is nothing special here, except for their awesome late night hours and delivery.

Wife ordered delivery for her and I and in the notes asked for add Carne Asada(admittedly she spelled it wrong but not so wrong you couldn’t figure it out). I guess they messed up when charging her card and called her to tell her the extra is going to be $ 3 extra to which she said«No problem, charge it to my card». They refused to charge her card because there is a $ 10 minimum, THEYALREADYCHARGEDHERCARD $ 26 and now because of their mess up wouldn’t charge her card again, she didn’t have any cash in her. Food came and it was gross, nachos were basically microwaved cheese and stale chips with watery guacamole and sour cream. Their steak beans/chili wasn’t any better, looked like greasy water you used to clean a deep fryer, the taquitos for my kids were also super hard and barely chewable for me, an adult male, good things the kids weren’t really hungry because they would have broken their poor little teeth. If you’ve eaten here I’m sorry but if you haven’t eaten here then you’ve dodged a bullet. Horrible food, and even worse customer service.

Great college-age post-drinking dive. Or pre-drinking dive. That said, coming here years, years, and years later, you have to remember the the market is undergraduates who want cheap, reasonably fast, edible food. The bomb-as-hell breakfast burritos at 2am are decidedly less tasty at 12 noon. Or at 7pm before a movie.(should’ve paid extra for a burger at one of the numerous other places on Broxton…) JB’s has its place. Sadly I think I’ve(long) outgrown the place in my life where being a regular at JB’s is a thing.

Food, good. Delivery horrible. The delivery guy just called me from his car telling me he was in the lobby, and couldn’t come up. Liar. You guys have come up to the sixth floor before. I won’t be ordering from you again, I’m sorry.

Jose B and I go waaay back. Back to my college days, when finals were tough, Jose was there offering late night delivery. And those drunken nights Jose greeted me with greasy sobering goods. Yea the presentation is kind of lacking BUT what they lack in beauty they make up in personality. The menu here is pretty impressive spanning from breakfast goods such as breakfast burritos and pancakes, to pastrami sandwiches and tortas. Sure flavor wise they may be lacking but their willingness to please a surfeit of palates is commendable. Recently I went back just to see if Jose kept to my expectations and I was disappointed. They still aim to please offering the choice of wheat tortillas in lieu of flour. My breakfast burrito was pack with eggs, mushroom, cheese, avocado and potatoes. All ingredients although lacked in flavor really jammed together texturally. It was priced reasonably and was made swiftly. So A for effort Jose!

Well, it’s whatever Mexican food, I guess. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and it wasn’t terrible but I wasn’t super impressed. I do enjoy their good service, so I will give them two stars for treating me like a great customer. They gave us cups of water without even asking, which was very much appreciated. Otherwise, the food is more expensive than other Mexican places for food that is just okay. They do deliver, so that’s pretty clutch and I haven’t tried their delivery service but it looked popular from what I can tell when I was there(based on all the orders they were receiving). Would I go here if it’s the only place open at night and I desperately want to eat? Sure. Would I go here if there’s a ton of places open and I want to be savor my food? Nope.

Came here late night because my Mexican food craving kicked in. I’m actually pretty upset that I wasted a cheat meal here. I should have went to a random taco truck. This place wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t my cup of tea. We got a carne asada burrito and a fish burrito. DONOT get the fish burrito. SUPER disappointing. The fish was probably frozen because it was super dry and tasted like it was weeks old. Had to drown this bad boy in 3 different kinds of salsa. The carne asada burrito wasn’t bad but I will tell you. other spots make better carne asada burritos imo. Thank god for the salsa bar. They had like 3 different kinds of salsa. I probably wouldn’t come back here again but we came here originally because it was close, and it was opened. The guy working the counter was really nice. Saw us struggling to put tons of salsa together and he came over with a paper bag for us. Horchata was good too.
