Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen

Food was Ok. Asked the waiter in the bar area, «What type of IPAs do you have?». He responded with, «What’s an IPA? I don’t even know what that is.» Took him over 30 minutes to pick up our check. Unacceptable.

It’s always great service when the appetizer takes 20 minutes and STILL gets to the table before the drinks (2 waters, no lemon).
I ordered the grilled chicken Caesar pasta salad, extra dressing on the side. I also asked for my chicken on the side with it thrown in the microwave (like I always do since my raw chicken fiascos). My friend ordered the chicken pecan salad. We asked for the croissants that you have to ask for even though they’re free with the salads.
They bring out two salads, both wrong. One dry Caesar salad with a small cup of dressing on the side. One dry random chicken salad, small dressing on the side. No croissants. I just asked for the manager at that point, told her everything wrong.
They bring me my correct pasta salad, and my friend’s salad… with raw chicken on it. Sliced, pink, shiny raw chicken. How do you serve RAW SLICED CHICKEN? Called manager back over, and she gets yet another salad that she personally made sure had cooked chicken.
They wound up charging us for just my salad. Whatever. There’s no excuse for that many wrong salads or raw chicken.
Pretty sure I’m done with this place.

i have eaten at Cheddars about 4 times, each time worse than the last. (my family forced me to go, again and again.)
But no more.
the service is the worst in history. and the food is hideous. the baked potatoes are almost rotten, with half a dozen black spots.
the waitstaff is inadequate and terrible. the hostess people are ignorant. and the cooks mess up every other plate. the bartenders are always on break, and their drinks are horrible.
Also, my mother was sickened with food poisoning twice from this very place. (don’t ask me why they continue to give this restaurant a «second chance». i think it is just convenient.
i will never ever go here again. Whataburger is far superior.

Good comfort food! Nice service. I’d suggest sharing a dinner portion! Well worth your money! You’ll have a to go bag. Consistently tasty well rounded menu!

My wife and I eat here 3 or 4 times a year. It is a nice restaurant, always clean and always with great employees. The food is good but nothing really special. Overall it is always a good experience and we always enjoy going there.

If I could give this place less than zero stars I would. I have given this place chance after chance and it has never been good. Staff is friendly but that’s about it. They got shut down about a year and a half ago for having food violations. I would give a more in-​depth review but it would take me forever to tell about all the times that I’ve been let down by this place.

Like the food. Service was not that great all 4 times we we went. Like the spinach artichoke dip. Each time we went it took a while to get drinks and food. Other than that it really was a good experience. Most of the time it is crowded though.

If you’re looking for great food a long wait and piss poor service than this is the place for you! Every time we go here it takes an hour for our food to come out but it’s always beautiful & delicious! As for wait staff… I’ve never had the same waitress or waiter twice and every one I have had has been either way over sat or they just suck & don’t really want to be there & make you suffer over that fact. Food is great but waitstaff sucks!

Love the fish here! And the mashed potatoes are soooo good! The sides are all very good and the chicken pot pie!!!

My husband and I decided to try Cheddar’s before going to a movie tonight. We got there around 5, which we thought was early, only to find a line already. Our wait was only about 10 minutes. It took about 10 minutes before the waitress came by to get our drink order. We told her we were wanting to make the movies in an hour, so she took our food order too. I had the ribs, which were good. The drinks took a while getting to us. Overall, I’d say the food was pretty good, the atmosphere was so-​so.

Very good food. I got the chicken fried steak. Good mashed potatoes and green beans weren’t all that great. Good service with Shelby. Very sweet. Got our food at a pretty good rate. Batter fell off though and that was a very disappointing.

Went to Cheddar’s on Friday for my niece’s bday dinner. Our server, Troy or Tony was his name, was amazing! He was very attentive and helped us make the bday girl’s night a blast!!! And the food and drinks were good like always!

Love eating here. We never have had a problem with the service like some others have said. Great prices.

The one in Longview is no Bueno. Chicken tenders were not crispy and my rice and beans were way too salty. Disappointed. The other locations are better I feel.

This restaurant looks very modern and charming with the outside patio and copper arch design. The hostess, waiter and staff make you feel welcome. The food is good as well.

Quite disappointed. The portions are huge, but the food is just meh. Triple appetizer platter was plenty to split with two people and more left over. We also ordered ribs, shrimp, and chicken to take home for dinner but once home found it was also quite mediocre food. Waiter was nice, and food came out quickly but the quality left me wondering if it hadn’t been sitting out for awhile or microwaved. Will not eat here again.

Not having been to a Cheddars before, I’m not necessarily qualified to write a review on one, but all the same I was disappointed by its quality of food and customer service.
After waiting around ten minutes for our drinks and 45 more for our food, we realized that out of the four people at our table, only one of us enjoyed our food. But I must give credit for the fact that all of the orders were correct and cooked right.

The service here is terrible! Food is average. You do get big portions for your buck. I’m a hot natured person, but I’m always freezing in there.

We love cheddars and go to many of them, but this has got to be the worst service ever. 3 times in a row now has been really bad service. Someone needs to be replaced. The manager needs to wake up or the owner or this place will be up for sale

I am a huge fan of Cheddars because they give you HUGE portions of food for next to nothing! Unbelievable, you will NOT find a place like this in Chicago that is for sure.
Onion ring appetizer is a meal in it self. HUGE HUGE HUGE portion for under $ 5. And, it was not greasy at all. The dipping sauces it came with were very yummy.
The chicken fingers and honey mustard dipping sauce are righteous. One chic finger filled me up, literally. My left overs lasted a little over two days.
The server we had the first time was excellent. He knew what he was doing and waited on us hand and foot. The second time we went however was a different story. Our female server was very slow with taking our order and supplying us with drinks.
But overall I had an excellent experience. It is very well decorated in the restaurant. I noticed they have Bose speakers — high class. (Judging from that, Cheddars is not hurting in this economy.)

If you’re going to make someone wait 45 minutes on a sandwich and a side, you could at least stir the side before bringing it out — crusty, cold layer on top and all. I mean, at least try and trick me into thinking that it actually took that long to make everything and wasn’t actually sitting waiting to be brought out for 35 of those 45 minutes.
Did I mention this happened around 4 o clock on a Tuesday? Probably the absolute slowest time of the entire week?
The least the waiter could have done is acknowledge that it did, in fact, take a ridiculously long period of time to bring out a mediocre, $ 6.99 sandwich. He could at least apologized that I had to watch a lady be seated next to me, be brought a drink, order her own food, have the food brought out to her, eat it, get a to-​go box, and pay for it — all in the time in between ordering my food and receiving it. Instead, he avoided the conversation and acted like everything was business as usual.
Now that I think about it, though, it probably was.

I decided to write a review for this place after waking up this morning with a major craving for Cheddar’s. Too bad we’re about 1,500 miles away.
We ate here with my in laws back in November and the service was fast, and friendly. The place was really clean, and like I said, we had fast service even though it was pretty crowded (Friday around happy hour). The menu selection is large and varied. We ordered chips & queso, baked potato soup, a burger, baked spasagna, chicken strips, and fried shrimp. Everybody enjoyed their food, and we had enough left to take leftovers. We’ll be back on our next visit home!
