Location: This restaurant is in a food court at the Long Beach Towne Center. With that, there is of course plenty of parking and seating in the food court area which is looking pretty sad nowadays(3 empty restaurant spaces). Easy to spot as its directly across from the Edwards theaters. Service: Honestly, the only reason we ate here was that we had had 45 minutes until our movie started and we wanted a quick snack so we thought tacos. We ordered the 2 taco combo plate to share thinking that would be easy and quick. WRONG. There was one person taking orders and apparently only one person in the kitchen so we didn’t get our order for almost 30 minutes. I ended up having to go back to the theater to exchange our tickets for a later show because we didnt have time to eat our food before the movie was starting. We were right on the verge of just canceling our order but luckily there was another showing of our movie 30 minutes later. Only bright side to the service was that the woman taking orders was very nice and actually gave us a free refill on the orange bang because I think she knew that they were extremely backed up and taking inordinately long to get food out. Although what would have been nicer is if she had mentioned that we would be waiting that long to get our food… sigh Food: Not the worst, but definitely not the best. It’s actually not a bad deal price wise for the combo plates and its a decent amount of food. We got the most basic of items though — a taco — so you would think pretty hard to mess that up. The meat was fine and they use just regular mexican blend(I think) cheese that looks like it came from the grocery store. Rice and beans come in a separate container which is kind of nice — again nothing special, but okay. Orange bang is always delicious, but I don’t think they actually MADE that. Overall: Dont go if you have a movie to get too…

Never ever go there! It’s disgusting! This place should be closed instead of feeding that thing to people! It shouldn’t even be called food! I am reporting this business

Who uses manteca nowadays? Ugghh. Should have asked before I purchased the $ 9 wet burrito which I had to throw away.

Save your money or eat at Panda Express. This food is disgusting and will make you throw up from the thought of even knowing you ate it.

First and last time will ever eat here. I ordered the 2taco special and was very disappointed. The beans and rice were the only good part. The tacos come hard shell but I asked for regular corn tortilla. When I picked them up they fell apart. Had to finish with a fork. All and all very poor food. No real taste. No real flavor. Oh and not to mention I paid $ 11 for the meal with drink.

I ordered a Super Burrito here, and it was good. I’d give it four stars. It was large, it was filled to the brim with meat(unlike other places, that give you very little meat, and then they load up the burrito with mostly lettuce and tomatoes, and they charge you $ 10 for it), and it was also plentifully stuffed with other fillings and toppings. I came back the next day, to order lunch for my friend, who was doing cat adoptions. The ground beef in her burrito was pink, and it was cooked medium-well, and not well-done, as I think shredded beef should be. When I took the burrito back, the cashier refunded my money with no problem, but the cook sat there, staring at me through the little window between the kitchen and ordering/staging area, as if to say, «How dare you return my food.» I enjoyed my burrito, so I will definitely return to a Super Mex, however, it likely won’t be this one. I hope the other Super Mexes fully cook their meat.

It was our first time here at this place and my last. I ordered the taco salad with the Carne asada. The meat was GROSS, it tasted like they marinated the meat in blood!!! Waste of money!

Super Average. No, Super Below Average! I had the GROSSEST chile relleno here, it was soggy, flavorless… just a turd. Servers here have zero zip. They just go thru the motions then throw the check at you. I am wondering WHY all my friends think this place is so great? Well, the answer is this: Mostly single or divorced guys who can barely cook a burger on the grill or make a can of soup… so my friends are not foodies at all, except for one… but my one foodie friend thinks this place rocks. Been there twice, but not returning for the hat trick.

What happened to Super Mex??? I rave to people that Super Mex has the best Mexican food. We’ve been to the one on Atlantic Ave(our favorite), on Spring Street, in Downtown, on Cherry Ave and this one at Towne Center numerous times We even went to Super Mex the last time we were in Las Vegas. We’ve never had anything that we haven’t like or been disappointed — until now. My Ceviche tostada shrunk considerably. Every other time I’ve gotten a Ceviche tostada, the tortilla has been a regular 6″ tortilla. This one was maybe 4″ and was so thin it seemed like the dough had been cut in half to make 2 tortillas instead of one. The shredded beef tacos completely fell apart. The shell was so thin it disintegrated and we had to eat our tacos with a fork??? And the chips couldn’t handle even the smallest amount of beans and broke apart. I don’t know what happened to this place. It’s always been our go-to when we want Mexican. I read in another review that this location is a franchise. I hope this is just a lousy owner and not the beginning of the end for Super Mex.

I love Super Mex… I love their chips and salsa… I love their fast service… I love their great staff… and I love their food… the last two times I’ve come to this particular Super Mex the wait time to get the food was about 45 minutes to an hour from the time we sat down… for Super Mex standards that’s an eternity… I got the carne asada plate which came to me fajita style… waaaaaa… I like getting my steak whole… others claimed their portions were smaller than usual… wow… later I found out why… one of our friends knows the owner… and this particular Super Mex is franchised out… the owner told them that their kitchen needed to be twice as big as they designed it in order to cook the food for a crowd that is large… and since it is franchised out the owners of Super Mex don’t have control over the quality or the menu… my «carne asada» fajita style plate… The service was excellant and continued to give us chips and salsa and refills while we waited… which was fine because our group of 10 loves to chit chat and will stay long hours… but the food was not as good as the Super Mex in Fountain Valley(I think it’s family owned) or even as good as the Carson Towne Center(take out only) although the Towne Center does not have the all you can eat chips and salsa, I will opt to go there next time… the carne asada plate was better and I will spend a little more to get a pint of salsa and a bag of chips from there… the wait time is fast… too bad they(current owners) didn’t heed the advice of the Super Mex owner and build a larger kitchen… the food can always get better but the time to get the food will always be slow if there are a lot of people… Food: 1 star(for the carne asada plate) Chips and Salsa: 5 stars Waitress: 4 stars Wait time to get our food: 0 stars

Don’t get me wrong here… I really love cheese! But it seems as if everything here at super mex is drowned in melted cheese and sauce! Chile relleno: drowned in melted cheese and oily sauce! With a thin little green pepper you can barely find under the gooey mess. Enchiladas: drowned in cheese and more oily sauce! Super nachos: covered in melted cheese that gets way too hard to even get the chips out from beneath. Actually they are tostadas, not chips. Which make it even harder to take out. The only thing I really like from this place are the beans. They almost taste like the ones from my childhood with just the right amount of cheese and no red oily sauce. Oh and the carne asada taco is good. It’s big though! Comes with guacamole and pico de gallo. Not your average 2 – 3 bitters so don’t order a billion of them! 3 stars for the excellent service from the man that’s Always there!

The Long Beach Town Center has some slim pickings if you want to eat at the Food Court. I usually default to super mex as it will give me the biggest bang for my buck and the Customer service provided is outstanding! The food never disappoints, always prepared fresh and hot! Sure it may take a little longer then some of the other options in the food court, but at least I know my food has not been sitting under a heat lamp for who knows how long! I will continue to eat here whenever my friends want to eat in the food court.

Amazing food. We *love* this place and even though it is in a food court, we go back again and again. I will call to be sure they are open before we make our drive from Downey. Overall much, much better than any of the other Super Mex’s. The owner is friendly and remembers us. He knows we travel just for thier food. The beans, chips & salsa are superior. I also get their shredded beef tacos, and my husband gets the carne asada burritos. Also love their chicken and cheese enchiladas, chicken tamale… everything I have tried has been great. If not too busy, the owner will even bring you your food… at a food court! We can afford nearly any restaurant and THIS is my favorite. You will not be disappointed.

Express location in the Long Beach Towne Center food court. Super Mex= Awesome salsa and guacamole. They put lard in almost everything and fry the chips in lard too, so I stay away from those items, but the salsa is still great!
