Eh. I wanted to like this place. I got an americano today and the espresso was burned. I couldn’t even drink the coffee and ending up dumping it :(I drink my coffee black and if anything needs to be added to it, it’s not good coffee. They had an assortment of cakes and pastries that looked store-bought for the most part. My coworker got a wrap which she said was ok. I probably won’t come back, but if you put a lot of cream and sugar/flavoring in your coffee, then you probably won’t mind what they have here.

Tried this for lunch — so bored with our limited local options. Ambiance is cool from what my colleague said. We ordered black bean wrap with avocado and added chicken — what we got Chicken wrap — very liquidy — too runny — had we gotten the avocado it might have been better… We will try again — and be certain about what we ordered…

I found this place because I had a lot of work to do and I wanted to sit down with my computer with a cup of coffee to finish up. I Unilocaled coffee in Laurel just to see if there was something like this even existed, other than Dunkin Donuts. I was surprised when I saw this place. I decided to go down and see what this place was all about. First and foremost… free wifi. nice part about it. they even give you the password Second… Good homemade food. You can tell that the quality isn’t frozen or add water and stir. Third… It’s an open café with tables, chairs, things for kids to play with, the outlets are within visible reach, so you don’t have to worry about brining your extension cable. And finally, the staff is extremely friendly. They care about your dining experience, they ask you if everything is okay. They make sure that you are well taken care of. Friendly smiles. They have everything from sweet treats, sandwiches, coffee and wine ice cream. This is relatively small menu but it’s simple, and sometimes simple is the best. College students, families, and regular joes and janes come in here to drink coffee or get work done. I recommend this place and would come back. The only slight inconvenience might be parking issues. Main st can get busy at times and does have limited parking. They do offer parking in the back of the building but in case it’s full, be prepared to walk.

Friendly service and solid breakfast sandwiches. I got an egg, bacon, and cheese on wheat bread and it was perfectly made(no oily, fried or microwaved egg) and delicious. Wound up getting two, I was so hungry! Lol! My tea was great as well. Free wifi makes this a good place to set up the laptop and work a bit, so feel free. All and in all a good stop if you are in the neighborhood.

HALLELUJAH!!! I finally got my hands on some Mercer’s Wine Ice Cream. That’s right people, WINEICECREAM!!! Freaking WINEICECREAM! Ice Cream made with Wine, YAAS. Unfortunately, Mercer’s Dairy is located in Boonville, New York which happens to be a whopping 7 hour + drive from me =(So for the past two years I have been crying myself to sleep watching people post images and stories of them devouring and enjoying Mercer’s Wine Ice Cream on social media. So sad… BUT, this small boutique café on Main Street in Laurel(358 Main street to be exact) stocks up on Mercer’s Wine Ice Cream, DAILY! More Than Java Café is just a few reviews away from being a 5-star rated café! Yes, that could be due to the amount of wine enthusiasts reviewing. But I can’t blame them! More Than Java Café has a COMPLETE list of Wine Ice Cream to purchase and that is so incredibly AWESOME. The flavors currently available are the following: Peach White Zinfandel, Cherry Merlot, Strawberry Sparkling, Chocolate Cabernet, Port, Red Raspberry Chardonnay, Riesling, and Spiced Mulled Wine. I went a bit overboard and tried the Peach White Zinfandel, Strawberry Sparkling, Riesling and Port. My least favorite was the Riesling and my favorite was the Port. WHOWOULDHAVETHOUGHT?! I highly recommend making your way out to More Than Java Café to grab a pint or two or three or even four! If not a pint, go for a taste! For those who don’t like ice cream you can make frozen cocktails, recipes can be found online at . I also had the pleasure of ordering a Grilled Chicken Wrap and a piece of Strawberry Shortcake Cake. Everything here is delicious.

There aren’t too many places that absolutely cater to my taste buds. But, MTJC is like no other. I’ve probably sampled every sandwich, soup, drink and dessert since they’ve opened and I have not been disappointed as of yet. Whether I carry out or dine in, the service has always been impeccable. Seeing some of the other reviews on here really makes me feel like customers need to get reviewed, too. It’s no way I’ve visited the same place as some of these one, two or three star reviewers. More Than Java Café’ has always made me feel at home. As a matter of fact, I’m on my way there right now.

Though Unilocal doesn’t allow me to do this, I’m upping my rating to 3.5 and from a different perspective — just in for dessert and some hot tea, this time around. Those desserts never disappoint. So many choices in the case: chess pie, pecan pie, sweet potato cake, lemon meringue pie, gingerbread cake, muscat wine pound cake and so forth. The hubby and I, ended up splitting the chess pie and took a slice of the pound cake home. There’s a nice selection of Capitol Teas as well; I choose a mango blend. The chess pie was toothsome, vanilla goodness with a sugar cookie like crust. I enjoyed the music selection, which I found very soothing — from Adele to Sinatra. The television was tuned to the Food Network show(what foodie doesn’t love FN?), which added to the feel good environs, not to mention the cozy seating, small potted plants, menu on chalk boards, pretty colored walls, art work and hospitable customer service.

I’m so glad I found this hidden treasure. The turkey sausage croissant breakfast sandwich was delicious. My green machine smoothie was yummy. Love that it’s a local, family owned business and they’re so kind. This will definitely be my new spot to visit frequently. Can’t wait to try more from the menu.

So I just found and tried this family owned main street business that’s about 5 months old according to the owners. I got a turkey sandwich on sour dough bread with a tropical paradise smoothie. For $ 11.91 it was an expensive dinner but a good one, the bread was amazing and tasted fresh do did the lettuce and tomato and the turkey slices were generous. The ambience is really nice also, they have chairs with bookshelves next to them and interesting sounding books! Can’t give it a 5 just yet till a couple more visits and hopefully I can honestly give them a 5. The owners/staff and really friendly and pleasant also.

Had Jerk Chicken Wings and a Lemon Pound Cake. The jerk wings were average tasting jerk wings but the Lemon Pound cake was very tasty. Love the lil mini bundt cakes. Can’t wait to try the Moscato Pound Cake. I heard it’s all the rave. Also got a slice of Sweet Potato Pie. Yum! I highly recommend the deserts for sure. I’ll be back to try other foods as well. Friendly staff. Nice location and atmosphere inside.

Better pumpkin spice latte than Starbucks, cheaper too I tried this place today. My coffee was great, the prices were reasonable and the menu seemed to have a little something for everyone from kale salads and wine ice cream to sandwiches and chips. The staff was friendly too.

Finally someone understands that everybody doesn’t want scones, fancy cookies, and other bougie snacks with their coffee. This place gets 5 stars on the strength of offering sweet potato pie, pound cakes, and red velvet cake. They do offer some pumpkin products for the basic people as well. The customer service was great just like the ambience. If I stayed near the area I would definitely make this a weekly spot for coffee and pie. I’m glad that I found this place this morning.

They have Wine Ice Cream!!! My boyfriend and I drove about 40 – 50 minutes to get some and it was totally worth the drive! The lady at the counter gave us samples of multiple ice creams and we completely fell in love with the Port ice cream. She was so lovely with us and we felt so comfortable just talking to her. Love the place! Small, cute and cozy, you could literally sleep there! I’m certainly going to keep buying Wine Ice Cream from them!

An absolute sleeper of a café on Main St, Laurel. More than likely would have passed right by it if it wasn’t for the awesome reviews I saw here prior to my visit. Not a big café nor fancy by any means. It’s a rather small, cozy, clean café ran by pleasantly nice people. Very appropriate place for a one on one coffee date. Not knowing what to get, I asked for their popular items and ended up getting white peach wine ice cream. Yes, wine ice cream. I had to try it. I also asked them to serve it on a waffle… And that’s when I expressed the idea of making that an item on their menu(If you’re reading this, please name it after me! «Sheldon Waffle» haha). The wine ice cream was deliciously light and creamy, and the waffle had a hint of cinnamon which was very nice. My friend had a slice of the strawberry shortcake, and that was pretty darn good as well. We stuck around to get some studying and work done since the atmosphere was quite comfortable and delightful. Will be telling my friends of this place, and will definitely be back again!

I don’t drink coffee so my feedback on that is limited. However, I did have breakfast and a large kale smoothie. Customer service was good and the gentleman that assisted me was kind, helpful and cordial. The environment as a whole is a place that I would come to work and chill out. Seating is limited, but I’m sure that you can cop a squat with someone at their table if needed. The desserts look SOGOOD and I look forward to having one some day soon. The smoothie that I ordered was great. My reason for three stars? I ordered bacon, egg, and cheese on toast. I sat down and immediately knew that there was about to be a problem when I heard the microwave come on. My eggs, bacon, and cheese were all nuked. Dang… Thinking that it may just be breakfast, I visited on another occasion during the evening. I ordered wings… I asked specifically if they cooked everything on site. I was advised yes. 5 seconds later, I watch as the employee took the chicken out of the fridge and proceeded to put it on a plate and… YOUGUESSEDIT… put it all in the microwave. This spot is still a great place, but I wish that they would just limit the menu and make everything fresh or only serve cold sandwiches and bagels that don’t involve the microwave.

Came here after a long day of moving and boy did these smoothies hit the spot! I got the green machine and it was delicious! I read that someone mentioned that they use organic ingredients. They did not advertise this so I asked the girl and she said«mostly.» I asked if it was in the smoothies and she said«yes» but didn’t seem tooo confident. So, I’m not too sure but I like the idea that it was all organic. They use agave for the sweetener and it was just the right amount. Fiancé got the strawberry banana and it was also very delish! Cute little shop w/a few table and chairs. They also have some books there.

Hello, Unilocal readers today has been another insatiable day. I’ve eaten at two places and this will be my third. And I couldn’t possibly ask for a better resting place for my apetite. More than java is slightly tucked in, meaning nothing to obvious stands out to me to identify the place, I actually walked passed it.(Smiling) I walked in and just took a second to look get the vibe, it feels very calming. I was greeted and when I asked about their items the women were more than great to help me. There case is fully of good cake slices and there menu has an array of eats if your looking to fuel your tummy. As I just ate at two places less than a hour ago I was looking for sweet treats and some tea. I was drawn to the teas. I asked about their sweet white chai(I love chai) She really didn’t know but she upfront about not being a tea drinker and asked the owner for me. I asked about various tea like a tumeric and ginger, island mango, cucumber melon, and the sweet white chai(SWC). I went with SWC, she described it as mellow and it is chai has a spice and warmth. This tea is good but if your an avid chai lover SWC may not be the go at that moment, depends on your mood taste. They have vegan options which is always a plus. Not just for those vegan but those non-vegan who want to be a bit healthy. I ordered the apple crumb cake, SWC, and later on I saw they had WINEICECREAM(who has that) I went for the reisling but they were sold out(sad face) so the owner who was very friendly helped me as we talked about our wine taste and suggested the cherry Merlot. It is quite tastey not too sweet and a wine taste which if you like wine, will appreciate. My total came to less than 8 bucks. They have handmade jewelry for sale they grind and bag their own coffee and their tea as well which I find an added point for this place. Overall vibe on this Friday afternoon is mellow with the crowd being people in older age. I don’t mind, I think it will the success. I will be back for the wine and to try their food. –I would like to add if the owners see this, a suggestion. The overall appeal and vibe is it’s unique and authentic vibe. I would suggest having healthier chips selection like Apple chips or vegan snacks. Drinks as well maybe an blueberry apply juice instead of v8 splash. Nothing wrong with it, but I would have loved a more selection with juices and more organic or healthier options. And seeing sprites and utz salt and vinegar(which I love) killed me. It’s like there noticeable because they don’t look like they belong. Just a suggestion. As this place will probably become my new place. Anyone who reads this should give this place a try! SMILE!!!
