The food tastes good. The price is good. We have eaten there 2 times in the last month. It takes over 30 minutes to get your food. No other place in town is that slow.

My family and I visit this place regularly. We are both puzzled to see some reviews commenting on bad customer service. Maybe these people need rose petals sprinkled onto the ground before they walk into places or something. who knows? Anyway, the customer service is always great. They smile, they are friendly and they make great food! My husband has tried many things on the menu and hasn’t complained about anything once. He tries to make this place our after church visit almost every week. And when he gets sick… I’m there picking up his menudo every time! I’ve tried a few things but have been stuck on the carne asada burrito for what seems like an eternity! I have them add sour cream and pico de gallo… just perfection! My kids love the food too and lately have been splitting their meals since the portions are so large. If there is one thing Elsinore is not lacking… it’s Mexican restaurants. Aztlan stands out in the crowd and is definitely one of our favorites!

Aztlan is exactly what this area of Lake Elsinore needed, a good Mexican food restaurant. Aztlan has everything you could ask for when it comes to Mexican food: Tamales, Burritos, Tacos, Tortas… The reason Aztlan stands out over the competition is their food is better than the rest. Every time I order food from here, it is always fresh and tasty. Let’s get to it: Pros: clean, friendly staff, good food, decent prices, variety of food and drink options Cons: some items are seasonal, sometimes there is a long wait for food(but very seldom) I would recommend Aztlan to anyone looking for good, affordable Mexican food in the Lake Elsinore area.

Enroute to San Diego, hungry and not in the mood for fast food burgers, we quickly jumped on Unilocal to find a local«gem» to fill our hungry bellies and up popped Aztlan. Located not far off the freeway, tucked into the corner of little strip center with plenty of parking. Yay! It was just before lunch on a wednesday so the place was pretty empty but cute. Very clean, modern and we were greeted with a warm friendly smile. The menu is printed overhead and large enough to read clearly. We ordered: Carnitas Burrito — huge and delicious. The meat was very flavorful and juicy. Vegetarian Taco Salad — Large, full of beans, rice and all the good stuff. The shell of course is the best part and it was fried yet not greasy. Chicken Burrito — unlike the carnitas, the meat was bland but the beans were great. My daughter enjoyed it. Fish Taco plate — Beans and rice were wonderful but the breaded fish was the worst. Oh my gosh it was terrible. Thick, soggy, greasy gook. So disappointed. I pulled the coating off and ate the fish inside. The fish itself was light and not fishy. Maybe grill instead of bread these babies. Eek. Over all I did really like this place and apparently so do the locals because by the time we were done, there was a line out the door! The menu is large enough that when we come back(because we will), I’ll try something new.

I have no idea if the people giving 5 star reviews are actual customers or just friends/family but… ugh! Tacos were BAD the meat was dry… tasted like it had been fried the day before then just reheated. The«tamale» was just sugar and pineapple mashed together with no tamale dough at all! You know how tamales are supposed to be fluffy and springy? This one was a mushy crumble. I had two spoonfuls and dumped it in the trash. The place is clean and the staff is nice but the tacos are not good. Don’t waste your money.

Best Mexican food in town. I love the Al Pastor burrito from them. The chicken tacos are also to die for.

One word Legit” as in legit Mexican food. Had two fish tacos and a side order of a chile relleno. Tacos where big and very filling very tasty, chile relleno was big too enough cheese and red sauce very flavorful not watered down. Ordered a bean and cheese burrito kids meal for my daughter that was a good size too. The deco is nice place is not too big and tables and chairs made out of metal. Nice fountain drink station, the reception very nice and friendly had a smile on her face the whole time, nice people tortillas hand made too bit pricey but well worth it, would definitely come again.

Best«fast food» Mexican place in town, all their meat is marinated perfectly and so so good. The people that work their are really friendly and helpful, and even though their always busy the lobby is kept very clean. It’s a little hole in the wall but don’t let that discourage you from trying it!

My wife and I eat here all the time and we never get sick of it! The spicy shrimp taco and burrito are amazing. I try something new on the menu every time I go and I have never been disappointed. All this talk makes me want it so I’m headed there now…

New menu with a few price changes. The food is still delicious and the service is still friendly! My regular dish is the potato tacos plate with beans and rice. DELISH! Top it off with some cheesecake and it’s a meal that I’m telling others about! Yummmm! Stop in unwind have some good food, and catch a game on the tv’s. Will be back again and again!

Unloading fuel at the gas station next door, I tried this spot out. Glad I did! Walked in and was greeted warmly and given time to review the menu. After asking a few questions, I ordered. First of all, the handmade corn tortillas were some of the best Ive ever had. I will try the burritos and tamales next time, but the tacos and mulita I ordered all had these tortillas that really made them that much better. Since they are homemade, I recommend eating the greasiest tacos first. The Shrimp taco was great, and quite big. Served with cabbage and some aioli that was great. Not greasy, or fishy. But The three textures came together great.(Shrimp was chewy, cabbage was crisp, tortilla was… tortilla. Im going to try the Spicy Shrimp taco next. The Carne Asada taco was even better! Quality Carne Asada. Had to get my own onions and cilantro from the salsa bar, and the mild hot sauce goes great with it. Trying the Aztlan Burrito w/Carne Asada next time too! Then I had a Carnitas Mulita. EVENBETTER! Lots of flavor and plenty of queso. Threw in some onions and cilantro, it went great with the hot sauce. So good, the carnitas was the right amount of greasy, and it came together really well! I ordered Horchata, and much to my pleasure, you go to the fountain and get your own ice! None of that«fill your whole cup with ice, then a half-cup of Horchata» nonsense. Lite-ice it, then take it to the counter to have it filled up! Great! The salsa bar is really good as well. Mild salsa is tasty. Medium salsa Verde is pretty good. The spicy Hot salsa isn’t too hot, and really good. I like the«pickled» onions as well. The service was friendly, smiling and welcoming. As were the Cooks, who took the time to thank me as I walked out the door. Best Tacos in or around Lake Elsinore!

Having grown up in SoCal I love Mexican food. Most Mexican restaurants however serve food that is pretty much the same. Az flan is different though, the tacos are more like the ones I’ve had in Baja. This place scores really big points with me for making their tortillas fresh, how can you beat that? I have to confess that there are a lot of items on the menu that I haven’t tried, I keep ordering the tacos Al Pastor. This place is kind of hidden in the corner of a strip mall but it’s worth finding.

Great Al Pastor tacos, with wonderful tortillas. The rice and beans were just okay. The beans have an interesting flavor, and I’m not sure what to make of it. Not bad, just different. Service was friendly and fast. Food was served hot. I will definitely go back and try it again.

Finally went after having it bookmarked for several years. Wish I had gone a long time ago. Between the two of us we had the machaca, a chile relleno, a carne asada taco and an al pastor taco. The chile relleno was absolutely delicious — very cheesy and flavorful, would definitely have again. Same for the Al Pastor taco — lot’s of flavor and would have again. The asada taco was good, but not exceptional, might try it again. The machaca was one of the better ones. Unfortunately, I compare all Machaca to that made at El Tepeyac on Evergreen in East LA, and I have never found anything that comes very close. The good thing is that this place has a small, but adequate salsa bar where they have, among other things, grilled jalapeño’s and onions. So if you add a bunch of jalapeño’s and onions and mix it all together it comes out quite nice. But if you want the Gold Standard of Machaca — go to El Tepeyac. The other item worth mentioning is that they make their own corn tortillas. Now I am more of a flour tortilla fan, but these are delicious. They are thicker than usual and have lots and lots of flavor. If all corn tortillas were like these, I could be a fan… The service was very nice: you order and pay at the counter and they bring you your food. Area is somewhat small, so I could see it getting very crowded. We were there mid-afternoon so it was fine. They also have a reward program so that you set up an email account and, after a while you get something. We’ll find out how it works at some point. And they also have a Taco Tuesday: will definitely have to try that out. Bottom line is that I think that we’ve found a small local taco place that is outstanding. We will definitely be back. I suspect that after a couple more visits to experiment and determine consistency we will be upgrading to five stars.
