Cedar River Seafood of Lake City

Cedar River Seafood is my favorite place to dine for seafood in Lake City, Florida. Food is always prepared to order, is fresh, delicious and affordable.

They had great food. Pretty good service and got to meet my family here so that was a plus. Flounder was great and hush puppies were on point!

Excellent food and service. I was traveling back to Texas and will make sure to note this address for future eating. I ate so fast, I forgot to take a picture. The hostess was quick and so attentive. Great food and great service. I’ll be back again.

We tried to eat here back in May on a trip to Orlando, but they had just moved to the new location and had a long wait, so we opted out then since we were traveling. On this trip to Jacksonville, we had plenty of time, so gave it another try, which we probably should not have done. They were not very busy, so we were seated immediately. I opted for the grilled shrimp and scallops, and my wife opted for just the grilled shrimp. I have never had grilled shrimp that was soaked down in some kind of weird tasting brown sauce. I think it was their attempt at some kind of Polynesian sauce, which the menu said nothing about. We were not impressed, and certainly wont be going out of our way in the future to eat here. Red Lobster is a lot better if that is any comparison

A very very ordinary restaurant. The service was good, but otherwise this was a forgettable meal and experience.
The seafood was ordinary, the menu bland, and the experience in general was not worth my time. I would not go back.

Ordered the Crab Legs with 2 sides Mac n Hesse and Collards., chicken pasta, for appetizers onion petals and fried clams. I give the collards negative –5 and the Mac was OK. The fried clams o. He other hand was 5 stars as well as
the onion pedals 5 BUT… the crab legs I had to send them back not sure why they were mushy and no taste at all. The Crab legs get a whopping negative –5 t
They were horrible.
chicken pasta I give it 3. Service was OK manager came to tell me that my crab legs come already done so that they were already cooked, so how is it that they were mushy when I cracked 2 opened they were MUSHY… Not good. Ughhhh.

When your looking for great fish and shrimp they can’t be beat. The service is aways fast and reliable. The new building is open and warm. GREAT JOB!

Not bad for an ambitious chain of two locations. I visited the Lake City site at almost 2 pm and was able to order from the luncheon menu. I had grilled shrimp with a slightly spicy sweet sauce marinade which were nicely grilled. It came with rice and I didn’t realize that when I ordered cheese grits and okra with stewed tomatoes. There were very large portions (enough for two people or take home the rest). The grits were good and cheesy, and the okra and tomatoes were good too. The only disappointment were the hush puppies — too greasy. This was an easy off Route 10 or 75.

The best seafood ever! The ¾ pound fried shrimp with the macaroni is ultimately the best! Their flounder is also delicious fries or cooked! Dragonfly and cedar river are almost tied. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Mediocre at best, nothing about the place made me ever want to return. Fried shrimp and scallops were tiny, Mac and cheese was cold, and then we had to wait for 10 minutes just to pay our bill at the one check out register. Two stars rather than one simply because our server was very pleasant.

Walked in for dinner and found it uncomfortably cold for me. No to busy very relaxing perfect for conversation. However, food was very good & the server Makenzie was very good and attentive.

The clam chowder was absolutely amazing. Their seafood cream cheese dip was yummy also. My son had the seafood linguine and loved it. I had the low boil with crab legs and it was perfect. Really, everything we ordered was top notch!!! Slow service, but the food was worth it. Hoping to swing back through on our way out of town for more!

Loved the food here! We happened by on our way through town, hoping for some good seafood before we headed out of Florida. We found some great seafood here! Great service, atmosphere and prices too.

Pretty decent seafood quality, but not amazing. For the location it is worth exploring if you are in the mood for seafood.
Came here with a very big party and got to try a little bit of everything. Very friendly staff and comfortable dinning area.
Appetizers (Gator, Coconut Fried Shrimp, Fried Oysters and stuffed mushrooms) overall they were good with my biggest complaint being the shrimp not having as much flavor as one would expect.
For the main course I went with the lobster combo. The lobster tails were just okay. Meat quality was a little tough and lacked the flavor I was hoping for, but the collard greens and slaw were pretty point on. Then the shrimp were well seasoned but not that great of quality shrimp. Small and not of the best quality. Scallops were miniature and again were not as good texture-​wise from what I expected. The friend clams I got in place of oysters were spot on and hush puppies were not bad as well.
Overall this place is good, but not spectacular. Would I pick it over red lobster? Yes, but I would not drive out of my way to come to here specifically.

It is by far the best seafood in Lake City. I love their Greens and fried okra.
All the fish is fresh.
