Slow service. Made my lunch run over an hour. Got the order wrong. Waitress rolled her eyes instead of apologizing. Although she offered a soda for the road. I still tipped 15%. I’d travel 5 minutes further to get better service.

Phish Heads has the best wings in town. Contrary to their name, I wouldn’t recommend ordering any type of seafood here, but I really like their wings. My only quarrel with this place, is that the servers can be pretty rude at times.

This is my favorite restaurant in lake city. Have never had a bad meal here been going here for years. Juanita Kelly Monica and KY are the greatest. It is always a good expierance

Had the greuben sandwich, which is grouper in place of the traditional Ruben sandwich meat. Reasonably cost at $ 9.95 with home made chips. Friendly service; I would return.

Really great scene where all the locals gather to soak up the atmosphere, food and good times… the bar is bustling, and the smell of amazingness is all around you. The phish sandwich, buffalo shrimp & maplebutter blondie are all crack! loved everything about this place, will definitely be back next time I’m in town… Sadie was especially helpful, everything she picked out for me was a winner :)

Good beer selection and above average fish meals. Had a good IPA on tap and the blackened redfish was very good. This ain’t fine dining, folks. It’s high value diner food, well above average. Except for the appetizers, which are just average. Grilled shrimp, seared ahi, and cheese grits were standouts.

Menu from pre made bar food(clam strips, nachos, fried shrimp, previously frozen ahi tuna) to homemade seafood soup and fresh raw oysters, both of the latter which were good. Some was good, some was very average. Server was very attentive and sweet, restaurant was clean, had a bar feel without the smoke, and was close to interstate. It fit the bill for a trip pit stip, but probably won’t make the list of places we’d make a point to stop at again. Beer menu was decent. Better than average, but not amazing.

Awesome casual dining and bar! Really good craft beer selection, and the owner knows a ton about beer and is super friendly. Good casual seafood and sandwich place, but the dinner specials really are special and unique, like greek lamb chops and braised short ribs. Menu has something for everyone. Service is prompt, and its a great place to relax with friends or family a have a couple beers. Really surprized to find a great local hangout this good in Lake City!

I was looking for something off the main drag in Lake City and Unilocal’d this place. Glad I found this in an otherwise non-descript strip mall. During my meal, I talked with the Manager/owner quite a bit and he asked me to be brutally honest in my Unilocal review. It started out right when I walked in and my request to put a baseball game on one of the numerous televisons was instantly accomodated. It was around 7PM on a Tuesday, so not very crowded. I sat at the bar and asked the bar tender about the craft beer options. There has to be some training there… or at least have a list she can hand out with a short description of what’s on tap. She is an otherwise great waitress, but there has to be an interest in the craft side of the house, especially since it’s such a wonderful addition. I had the Phish Stew(cup) as a warm up. It was simply wonderful. A little kick of spice made it perfect with some crackers and the Ale I ended up selecting. I went with the Grueben(fish rueben sandwich). I had it grilled with some chips. The fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I would have liked a tad bit bigger bread and more slaw, but an arguement could be made that it would overshadow the fish. Either way, a great meal. Beer…great. Food…great. Atmosphere/conversation…that’s what will get me back on my next trip. I sat at the bar and was instantly moved to Duffee, Mississippi, where my in-laws live. There was a sense of community and lively conversation that has to savored. It was Mexican night and the discussion about what a Chimichanga was. Once that was figured out, my neighbor ordered it. It was monstrous and looked wonderful. I know most of if it went home as leftovers. There are nightly specials and they all sound great. Phish Tales actually has the menu, and prices, online so there won’t be any surprises. Take some time and get off I-75. You’ll enjoy the respite.

Hugely disappointed! We had high hopes for this place based on the other reviews. But it fell very short of our expectations. Our family stopped after our long drive from Chicago for our first FL meal. We wanted something kind of casual and divey. The atmosphere seemed promising and the staff was friendly. But those are the only nice things I can say… The craft beer angle is what drew me to this place. But our waitress knew nothing about what was on tap or in bottles. She had to bring us a crumpled up beer list and did not offer any recommendations or ask us any leading questions to help us decide. If you’re going to advertise as a «craft beer» establishment, then you need to at least know the basics. We then got our food… Kids got grilled cheese. Nothing special there. Fries were cold and you could tell they were frozen, not fresh. The conch fritters were also not made fresh and were dense like old gumballs. Yuck. My wife got the fish tacos. They looked about as good as they tasted. Again, you can tell it was frozen fish. Very bland. And the«fresh pico de gallo» tasted like Pace Picante. I couldn’t handle more than a bite. The Cajun rice on the side was dry and was probably Zataran’s from the box. I got the shrimp philly special. It was just ok. Again, obviously frozen shrimp. Very bland. All in all, we were less than satisfied. We will definitely not be returning. This place is a candidate for«Kitchen Nightmares» if I ever saw one. Chef Ramsey would ream them new one, for sure.

Delicious hole in the wall place in sunny Lake City. The atmosphere of Phish Heads is laid back and casual, with classic rock and sports on the tv. The food is a variety of delicious seafood. I ordered the fish stew and caesar salad(with grilled chicken though there is a fish option). Both were great; the fish stew had shrimp, scallops, and swai with potato and veggies and was just hot enough to make the food comforting. The caesar salad was fresh and the blackened chicken was very good. Other favorites at the table were the sweet potato planks(large cut french fries), the ahi tuna(served with ginger and wasabi) and the fish fingers(also swai). Not too expensive and the seafood is top notch for a hole in the wall place.

Where do I begin the Beer or the Food, but it is a tough call since both were so good! I’ll start with the beer. This place is located in an a seemingly out of the way strip mall. Nothing about the place prepares you for the dedication to craft beer and especially local craft beer. I had a great selection with a very knowledgeable server. The Manger Jim stopped by and we talked beer. It was a nice treat after a long work day. Now for the food. Outstanding. I has conch fritters and corn nuggets. I love conch fritters — I eat them whenever I can get them. These were perfect. A great balance of conch and batter. The same with the corn nuggets. For dinner I have the prime rib, cheesy grits and asparagus. The prime rib was probably the best I’ve ever had. Cooked perfectly, server a mild horseradish and nice au jus. The cheesy grits could have been dinner they were so well prepared. And very few places can present asparagus just lightly steamed with nothing else. Why cover up asparagus? I will detour to eat here again!
