Thrifty & delicious! Everything we’ve had here is delicious. We always get a side of Brussels sprouts, which are unlike any we’ve had. All the meals are good. Whaler’s Village is torn up for renovations, but Joey soldiers on.

This is a great place to eat if you are in the Kaanapali area, and especially if you are staying or hanging out along the beach walk. They are located in the Whalers Village food court. Parking is validated with $ 15 purchase. Joey’s serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You order at the counter and seat yourself. There is no table service, but the staff is super friendly and helpful. They will even bring your meal to you if they are not busy. This is local Hawaiian and Filipino style comfort food with a modern flare plus so much more. Spam musubi, loco moco, macadamia nut pancakes, bbq, plate lunches, chicken katsu, fried rice, burgers, mac and cheese, fried brussels sprouts, soba tofu salads, and fish tacos are just a few of the items on their menu. Along with a kids menu there is literally something for everyone. We ordered the fish tacos, kids chicken katsu plate, fried brussels sprouts, mac and cheese, and the soba tofu salad. Everything was served in a timely manner, hot, and fresh. The fish tacos had lots of flavor and the portions were a very nice size with 3 tacos per plate. The brussel sprouts were delicious! I especially liked the parmesan dressing on top. The soba tofu salad was very flavorful and had a variety of veggies. Both of the kids downed their meals in no time with no complaints, so that means 4+ stars in their books. We will be back!

I spent $ 70 on food and when I ask for a refill they want to charge me $ 1.50. Very poor customer service. Good food but I will never return due to lack of kindness and rude service

Decent Hawaiian food can be found here if you’re staying in any of the resorts in the area and don’t wait to pay an arm and a leg for dinner or don’t feel like venturing out for food. We came here for dinner one night as it is conveniently located in food court of Whaler’s Village. Beef short rib plate had good flavor. It camr with side of rice and mac salad(naturally). Would also recommend the adobo fried rice and sweet potatoe fries.

It’s just a booth in a food court, but honestly the food was fantastic. Had the pork ribs with coconut shrimp and my husband had the Ahi Poke. All delicious and worth the trip!

Great food! Melt in your mouth spare ribs! Get the garlic fried rice. So delicious. It’s a nice surprise in Whalers Village. If you want a home cooked local meal this is the spot!

We had Joey’s food for lunch when we were on our snorkel trip today. The food was so delicious we asked where it came from. He told us Joey was previously a Chef at Roy’s and now has his own place. We decided to go to his Resturant for dinner and weren’t disappointed. It was tasty and very satisfying. Joey’s there, friendly, talking to customers and wants to know about your experience. Highly recommend it

So many things to love about this place. The resort area in Kaanapali is short on reasonably priced dining options. We got the short rib hash and the keiki(child) katsu chicken plate. The hash was especially good. The total was $ 15 for both, a bargain in this area and it’s just a short walk from the hotel. It was a little confusing to find due to construction at Whaler’s Village, but it’s in the food court with Subway.

Went here for a late lunch bc it was close to the resort. This place is located in the food court in Whalers Village so if you’re at any of the resorts near there, it’s faster to walk. If you do drive, the restaurant will validate. We got the keiki chicken katsu($ 6) and subbed fries for the rice for $ 1 more. We also got the grilled Ono tacos(3/$ 11) and the garlic shrimp plate. Everything was really good — the katsu was crispy but not greasy, the tacos were filling and had a yummy slightly sweet sauce on them, and the garlic shrimp plate was spot on(broccoli and cauliflower steamed just right, good amount of rice, shrimp grilled perfectly and a REALLY good garlic sauce). If I went back, I’d probably order the same menu again but the garlic shrimp was really expensive for a mall and for what you got — just 5 shrimp and I think it was $ 17. It was way cheaper than what you’d pay at any of the resorts but I think the tacos were a much better value. We paid the same for this meal as we did for the one at Maui Fish Market where we got a couple of huge Baja fish tacos, a fish burrito, a grilled cheese sandwich, and fresh ahi poke. We may return again if we don’t wanti to drive somewhere to eat.

Solid coconut shrimp come with 4 large shrimp for $ 16 plus a mess of fries. Yum! I’m eager to try the pancit and hamachi poke! Much cheaper than the resort restaurants.

We were pleasantly surprised to stumble across Joeys Kitchen. We were actually trying to dine at hula grill — a nearby restaurant that we didn’t realize wasn’t open for breakfast. We are so happy that we ended up eating breakfast at Joeys Kitchen. We LOVE the Filipino flavors in the breakfast dishes here. I had the pork adobo fried rice and my husband had the Longslide breakfast(with Longanisa sausage). Flavors were on point, and prices were great. This place is in the food court of the whalers village, but they’ve still managed to have a nice seating area to the side for their customers.

If you’re staying at one of the beach resorts, save yourself the time and come straight to Joey’s. I’m not one to visit the same place multiple times. Especially on vacation somewhere new, but breakfast options were surprisingly limited; at least walking distance. We went a mile in either direction and Joey’s by far takes the cake. Breakfast burrito and Khalua pork omelette are both great but THEHASH!!! Good stuff. Enjoy!!!

Really love this place. I had the Kalbi Beef braised short rib and it was nothing short of incredible. Don’t be thrown off by the fact that you have to walk through a food court to get to it and that it’s run a lot like a fast food joint. The food makes up for it and it’s a nice, casual place to grab breakfast or lunch. Pro Tip: There’s a cookie company two doors down with free samples… dessert!

Delicious Hawaiian bbq. Located first floor of whalers village in the food court. The cashier recommended these three items and all were very satisfying. Kalbi beef. Braised short rib. My personal favorite the huli huli chicken with the sauce!!! Rice was fluffy and filling. The Mac salad had a slight curry flavor but not spicy. Loved it as a side to our meal. I took it to go and they packed it well. We will be back for more since it is walking now distance.

My family and I took a mini vacation to Maui for the weekend. Just to give you an idea of how much we enjoyed their food… in the 3 days that we were in Maui, we ate there 3 times. Twice for dinner, and once for breakfast. My favorite: fried brussels sprouts covered with parmesan cheese and garlic aioli. For a side dish, the portions are pretty big. My sister, brother in law and I shared them(twice :P). I’m not sure if it was her pregnant cravings, but needless to say, my sister was addicted to them. She even said, «Goodbye fried brussels sprouts.» as we were driving by in our car while on the way to the airport. LOL! Also, I would recommend their braised beef shortribs. They are super tender and flavorful, and also a very decent portion(3 big chunks). My dad wasn’t too fond of it because it was a little too sweet for his liking, but I loved it. I also tried their kalbi which was decent, as well as their shortrib hash(breakfast) which was good as well. It probably would have been a lot better with the garlic fried rice and eggs like it usually comes… but I wasn’t too hungry that morning, so I opted for just the shortrib hash. Joey’s Kitchen is located in the Whaler’s Mall near the Kaanapali Beach Hotel, which makes for a convenient 5 minute walk. If you are nearby, I would recommend just making the walk to the mall, because I noticed that you do have to pull a ticket for parking, although I’m not sure on the parking rates. As for the price of the food(a bit expensive), it’s probably not what you’d expect from a place located in a little food court of a mall, but I’d say it’s worth it.

My wife and I came here twice during our stay. The first time we ordered some Lumpia as an after-dinner snack. They were priced at $ 9 for 5(not a stellar bargain). They were good, but not the best Lumpia that I had had. We noticed the breakfast menu during that first visit, and came back the next day for breakfast. This time, my wife got the eggs, bacon, and toast combo, and I got the short rib hash. My wife was not particularly impressed with her items, though they looked pretty good. I, on the other hand, thoroughly enjoyed the hash. It was filling, great quality, and VERY tasty. I haven’t had anything like it, and it was delicious. Given that we are here to visit, there are probably some really good items to get, and others that are less good. The prices are reasonable for Maui, but only certain items are truly a bargain. Keep in mind that their items take a little while to make, and that you can only pay with CC for orders over $ 10(and can only get validation for orders over $ 15).

Decent place in the food court at the mall. We ordered the mac nut pancakes and the breakfast burrito and both were OK, but nothing to write home about. The prices were a nice break from exorbitant hotel fare, and the pineapple they served on the side of each plate was surprisingly astoundingly good. Would be willing to come back but wouldn’t be excited about it.

This is probably more of a 3 ½ star but since they were super friendly, I will bump it up to 4 stars as service does make a difference. We originally were trying to go to the Shark Pit but since they are dividing their time between the truck and the restaurant, their hours are not only inconsistent but so are the updates on Facebook and/or phone so ultimately it is a hit or miss. The day we went, it was a big miss so after 20 min wait we left and decided to hit up Joey’s since it is right next door to where we were staying and on my to eat list. We ordered the Mongolian grilled opah special and the braised short rib since people rave about it. The braised beef was good but not sure if it is as rave worthy as others make it. The grilled opah was quite delicious especially with the crunchy noodle like topping so we returned again that evening to try the ramen without kimchee. Good ramen but not sure if it is worth the $ 9 price tag. We came back one more time and got the teriyaki grilled ahi special. So this was what confused me a bit. The flavors were almost identical to the Mongolian opah making me wonder if they just use the same sauces/spices for all the specials. Anyways, overall I would say that it is a great more affordable addition to the Whaler’s Village food court and perfect for takeout to enjoy back at your hotel/condo especially if you have your own million dollar views with your oceanview lanai. Fish specials average about $ 18 which is a bargain in comparison to your other options in Maui.

A OK in my book. The braised beef was good. My fiancé got the chicken which was decently good too, but the beef was definitely more flavorful. Came with Mac salad and Kim Chi. Friend got a Mac and cheese soup dish which was just okay. Located within the outside mall plaza in the food court area. Order your food at the counter. Find a seat and wait for it to be ready and pick it up to bring back to your table. Bottled drinks available.

I was looking for somewhere quick to grab breakfast and saw the reviews for this place on Unilocal. The service here is very friendly, and it was neat watching the guys in the kitchen preparing the meals. They work together like a well oiled machine. I wasn’t sure what to get so I decided to try something different. I chose the short rib has with fried rice and eggs after being told it was the most popular breakfast item. I figured that since their ratings on Unilocal were so good I couldn’t go wrong with anything I ordered. Unfortunately I was disappointed, or maybe I was expecting too much. I’m used to fried rice having meat, eggs and sometimes vegetables in it, this fried rice was exactly as described, rice fried in sesame oil and some seasoning. The hash did not have much flavor and overall the dish was missing something. Being that this was my first time here, perhaps I will try again another time. Maybe for lunch. There must be a reason fellow Unilocalers are giving them 5 stars.
