I love Loco Cocos! I usually get take out and everyone once in a while I go in and sit down. I usually get a burrito, taquitoes, or the barbecoa plate. One time my mole came out cold from the kitchen but my mole came out cold. The service acted promptly and it was very good!

We had not been to Loco Coco’s for a long time. I’m sorry we decided to go back there for lunch today. While the guacamole appetizer was decent everything else was beyond disappointing… it was downright awful. I ordered a tamale and a Mexican taco with carne asada. The tamale was hard as a brick and was mostly corn masa… just a sliver of pork filling. It was inedible. The carne asada filling in the taco was over cooked and dries out. My wife ordered three Mexican tacos, one chicken, one carne asada and one chorizo. She received two carne and the chorizo. no chicken. The carne on her tacos was over cooked as well and the chorizo was over cooked and greasy. The margaritas were super sweet and we just drank water instead. We’ll not be returning to eat there ever. Agave in Portsmouth may be a bit more costly but the food and drinks are well worth it. Margaritas in Portsmouth is probably about the same in terms of price… but is so much better in terms of quality. I’ve heard that the owners of Loco Coco’s are pretty much absentee owners now and that the folks running the place day to day aren’t of the caliber of previous folks. If that is true then that would explain a lot.

Not a fan… Tried 3 different times, 3 different menu items. If you like cilantro you may like the food. Everything is loaded w/cilantro. Salsa loaded w cilantro and onions. All their meat,(chicken, ground beef) onion loaded.

This is a great local burrito place that has both full service and go up to the counter and order service. I am quite the fan of the California Burrito and at this point this is about the only thing I get as it is so tasty. The only downsides are it seems over the years that the burrito sizes have been deceased and I think the chips are a little too greasy.

This is authentic Mexican. House made sauces too. Good service, fast and efficient and friendly staff. No frills you can order and eat up front or have wait service. Have been here many times and have had their warm chips with homemade salsa which is delicious as is their guacamole. I’m crazy about their burrito bowls — no flour tortilla just the innards. I had ground beef and I loved it — comes with chips. My husband had the Vera Cruz plate(shrimp) it was outstanding. The prices are good and this food is so good it soured me on every other Mexican place. Can’t go wrong.

Best Taco’s in Maine… what, what, we aren’t in Maine? DAMN! So you’re saying that there isn’t anything this good up there that I’ve found yet. Can you PLEASE come to Portland too?! Carnitas of awesomeness, hot sauces of tantalizing proportions, love the food and eat too much. Top that stuffing my belly off with some great flan! Can you open a Portland spot PAH-LEASE?!

So I’m really picky where to have Mexican cuisine. Coming from the west coast authentic Mexican food is hard to come by here in Maine. My husband actually past through here while running errands at the naval base and had said he had eaten here before and liked it. So I was skeptical looking through the menu, and their prices are steep. Wish that they offered complementary chips and salsa. Chips were freshly fried and salsa was okay. Not spicy that I’m used to. The place was busy and clean. We did wait longer than usual for our food. The food came and wow my expectations had been met! My chicken enchiladas verde was delish! Not dry or over spiced. The rice was fluffy, but the beans… I didn’t really care for them. My husband had a California burrito and it was amazingly good filled with steak fries and other stuff! Kids had a cheese quesadillia and chicken tacos. Smaller portions than normal kids entrées, boooo! The chicken taco was way too small for my son we ended up eating my a piece of my daughter’s quesadillia and a portion of my husband’s burrito. The only let down for me is no horchata!!! Horchata is only served on occasion! I’m totally recommending this place to all friends and coming back again!

CLEANYOURBEERLINES! Mixed drinks are VERY strong and when my wife asked for a side of mixer the lady bartender(who was drinking behind the bar) made fun of her.

The BBQ pork burrito was terrible, meat was chopped into tiny cubes and was tough and dry, inedible. Tasted like it had been reheated numerous times. Only reason this is 3 star, and not lower, is that others in the party had better food — nachos were fine, fish tacos were good. But, they should have been embarrassed to serve the pork. Did not send it back because we were a large party and were on a tight schedule. On the up side, service was good. Won’t return.

If there was a 3.5 star rating, that would be perfect. I don’t think this place is out of the ordinary with respect to the«cantinas» out there. It is pretty good. The menu has some issues with price variability, some things are just better deals than others. Like the barbacoa plate at $ 11 is an absolute steal, whereas the tacos, not so much. I mean pretty much everything I’ve tried has been better than average fare. The barbacoa is by far a favorite, piled high with and with a marinade that just makes the flavor sing. It may be the only place for Mexican in Kittery, but it is a go to spot. Only issue is with the fetch your own drink station and the fresh made drinks. One day I went in and the lime drink was a little off, but that is just something that can happen.

We are from California and when I saw this place on Unilocal I had to stop by and try it. This is gringo Mexican food which can be a hit or miss. My teen daughter and her friend ordered some kids meals and actually the food was pretty darn good, enough so were my daughter had me order more food for her.

Love this place. Outstanding tacos. In descending order of delight they were: the fried pollack, the barbacoa and the bahn mi. The first two of these earn the full on outstanding. The bahn mi? Meh. So sorry, I wanted to love the bahn mi, however it’s issues were: too many slices of too hot peppers and the meat was dry and tough. Thankfully, I was well oiled by the Smuttynose Tripel. I chased that with the Ballast Point Sculpin IPA. Net net? A solid 4 stars. Yessssss. Forgiveness on the bahn mi execution.

Got some Mexican style chicken tacos. It may as well have been microwaved dog food. I used to live in California and used to frequent great fast food Mexican joints all day long. It’s more about quantity than quality here. Locos used to be a great substitute for Cali Mexican food, but the place has really gone down the tubes in the past couple of years. I keep going back hoping it will be the place it used to be. But… I think I’m really done this time.

Expensive tacos, no thank you… Had 4 tacos overall, the meat could have used a little more seasoning and all around flavor. Paid a lot more than many of the places I’ve been to. The sauces weren’t that good in my opinion, same thing as above with the flavor and didn’t have enough heat in some of the spicer ones.

One of my favorite spots in the Seacoast. Burritos are always great and there are tons of options available. I can be a little picky and the staff is always courteous about making substitutions. My personal favorite is a carnitas burrito made«Corozan style» which is covered in your choice of sauce(mole, or two enchilada sauces) baked with cheese! So good. Drinks can be hit or miss. I’ve had some amazing margaritas and rum drinks here, but I’ve also had some really questionable margaritas. Slight inconsistency with bartenders but not a deal breaker. Kind of a bummer that chips and salsa are extra but that seems to be the deal with Mexican joints these days. Overall, great food and great service, if you haven’t been here do yourself a favor and check it out!

My husband and I have eaten at Loco Cocos several times over the last year, and have enjoyed it very much each time. Until today, we’ve always been in the full service section. Today, we decided to order in the counter-order side. Our food was delicious, however the counter help leaves a bit of a not-so-pleasant taste in our mouth. The was a man who took our order and barely said more than ‘Can I help you?”, and that was said in manner to indicate we were bothering him by being there. When our order was ready and my husband’s name was called to pick it up, the woman behind the counter at that point said absolutely nothing, no acknowledgement, no smile, no ‘thank-you’ or anything. Not a warm or friendly place, at least not today. Back to the food — I ordered a Quesadilla that came with a big serving of house salsa and one of guacamole. I’m not a fan of their salsa however I love their guacamole. My quesadilla was delicious, and I’d definitely order that again. My husband had Tia Margarita Fish Burrito, and he loved this. I asked him if he liked it enough to order again, and I got a big«oh yes!» We also had an order of chips and salsa. Their chips are very good, and I prefer the sauces from their sauce bar to their salsa, but my husband really enjoys their salsa. I have to agree with other reviewers who mentioned paying for chips and salsa. This is the only Mexican restaurant I’ve eaten at that charges for chips and salsa. We’ll definitely go back — we love their food and it’s in a very convenient location as well.

This place is fantastic! I’ve both been to the restaurant side and the counter order side. As a lover of hot sauce, I can genuinely say that their selection is amazing. Burritos and the California fries were amazing! Would highly recommend a 10 minute detour off of the highway to visit this place if you are road tripping. It’s also really close to the Kittery outlets if you work up an appetite while shopping… I always seem to want something delicious post-marathon shopping!

I love this place! It’s often where my husband and I go on lunch dates. It’s a perfect place for that, on the self seating side. The full service side is a better dinner option! We always order a taco salad(which I love because of the crispy shell) and California fries to share between us. The food is always fresh and fantastic! I agree with some of the other reviews saying that they lack a little something in the spice dept. which is why I often hit up the sauce station, and get some habenero sauce and some avocado sauce. The prices are good considering portion sizes too. And I like how the burritos come with pita chips because at some Mexican establishments chips cost extra. Overall great place and great environment!
