Crown Fried Chicken

This is my second time here, and after two tries I will say that it’s worth a shot but you may find better tasting chicken at chains like Popeyes or KFC.
A coworker of mine let me know of this place and as a fried chicken lover myself I had to give it a try. The prices are comparable to other chains, the food itself just doesn’t have that unique flavor or style that pulls me away from other places.
The chicken itself is good, but similar to KFC. Always made fresh and hot but not as crispy or juicy as I had been expecting that you can get from other places. I also tried the buffalo wings and the popcorn chicken. The buffalo wings are eh, they taste similar to Tyson hot wings that you can buy at a grocery store and bathed in Louisiana hot sauce. The popcorn chicken also tastes like something that could be found at a grocery, it just didn’t have that wow factor.
The location is fairly sketchy too so be careful, I went at a later time in the evening and got stopped by several homeless people. However I’m sure in daylight times the location is perfectly fine.
If you’re looking to try a new chicken place I’d give this a go, but only get the chicken itself.

I was really looking forward to trying this. Had heard some good stuff about the chicken. A cheat day for me and I wanted some good fried chicken. I was very disappointed. I got a smaller box that had mashed potatoes (very small. They were kinda of hard with the gravy on top which was almost a crust. I actually thought it was the biscuit they were so firm). Also a small Cole slaw (I had a bite and spit it out, it tasted like chemicals. I thought it tasted like poison or something). I also got 2 pieces of fried fish, just to try it, and it was so fishy and overcooked I could only eat a bite. Really really bad taste. As a last minute thought I ordered a corn on the cob. The corn was so mushy and funny tasting. Now the chicken was good but I’ve had better. And considering everything else was so bad, it just doesn’t matter. I won’t be back. And that really disappoints me. I had high hopes for this place. :-(

A neighborhood classic if your from NYC. Halal chicken spot at its finest. Tasty well done chicken. Good corn on the Cobb. 12 pieces with sides and biscuits. Can’t beat a good deal. Good spot to slide thru if your in the area.
