Ouch. A $ 10 cover to get in at 9:00. Guess we will go get a drink elsewhere. Be sure to call and check the cover charge.

First off… Our waitress was Elaine and she was beyond awesome!!! Putting up with our drunken selves in a delightfully playful way. The food is super tasty… Nachos were yummy, ribs were yummy, sliders were yummy, and the bacon wrapped shrimp were AMAZING. Loving everything about it here.

We went to the bar last night hoping To enjoy a great night with live music. When we first arrived there were 3 girls who appeared to work there and as we sat down at the bar none of the employees acknowledged us, or asked if we needed a drink. They were focused on their chatting, so my husband had to ask if there was a bartender. We finally got our drinks and moved over to a seated area to enjoy the music. I finished my first drink and waited for one of the servers to come over to ask if I wanted another drink and it had taken a good half hour before One of the girls asked if we wanted another drink all the while they were serving people around us which appeared to be locals. Do visitors not deserve to be served? We asked for a menu for appetizers and she never came back to take our order so we finally gave up and left to find food. We witnessed our server outside taking selfies with her friends. I guess serving customers isn’t Important in this establishment. Thanks for the horrible service.

This old Creole thought the gumbo here was pretty darn good! My bride had the Louisiana Sliders. For an island 1000s of miles from NO, Mark has it going on. The Mai Tai was a bit sweet for me, the Bride had 2 Headhunters and said they were excellent. Our server Katie provided excellent, friendly service. We enjoyed the night. Good music too.

What to do in island paradise, when everything seems to roll up and go night night? Head to the Trees. An eclectic mix of tourists and locals, guys and gals, high heels and barefoot people. A laid back atmosphere, with a seemingly endless supply of feel good vibes. Not for the faint of heart when it comes to crowds. Upon arrival it was tough to find a spot, but waiting a few minutes we got a perfect seat near the band(who were great at adapting well-loved songs with Hawaii flair). Small…well, no… quaint and inviting. Get your last cocktail here, everyone else seems to!

Stopped by here again to get some food. Happy hour is great. People are more than friendly. The food was good. Just a real chill place to get something to eat. I literally tried the whole happy hour of martinis. Sucks there only open at five.

As part of a more touristic village(next to the resorts), this restaurant was easy to access to. Lounge style, it had live music and comfortable booths. We had the shrimps, the Cajun fries and some salad. Verdict: good food to share and lively ambiance! Oh, and the Cajun FRIES! A good place to go with friends or family(my case) to get a light dinner and drinks. The spicy Cajun plates were perfectly complemented by a Longboard beer.

We were in Kapa’a on vacation and staying next door. We weren’t expecting much when we went in for drinks and appetizers but The Trees ended up being one of our favorite spots. We had spent most of our vacation down near Koloa so I think the vibe was a nice change for us. It felt good to be amongst locals, listening to local live music, and eating real food that didn’t taste like it was part of a chain restaurant. The atmosphere was perfect for meeting up with our friends that night. The Trees opens at 5pm and there is no problem finding a table but it seemed really busy by the time we left just before 10pm. Also, service was fast, friendly, and on point. We will be back to The Trees on our next visit to Kauai!

We met here with friends and had a blast. We were there for happy hour and got seats in really comfortable lounge chairs in front of live music. The nachos were great, salads were great and the jerk chicken was good but a little on the strong side for me. Service was awesome and the atmosphere was perfect. Fun music. Will be going again.

Kingston Shrimp was delicious(though my wife didn’t like it), but overpriced. Sliders were definitely in «meh» territory. Sounded delicious and I think I’ll have to pirate the recipe for home, but make it tasty. Seared ahi special was cooked to perfection. Beignets were fabulous. In all, a mixed bag, but not something to grumble too loudly about.

If you enjoy live music, a dark atmosphere, colorful mood lighting, cool artwork and decently priced drinks — this is your spot. Perfect for people watching, playing dominoes, and chillin in their comfy 1970s red velvet loungers. It’s always fun to walk in and see whose playing. You might get lucky and catch a funny, dynamic interaction between the musicians and their sets. The menu isn’t my favorite on the island but for bar food I’ll take it. I recommend the shrimp po boy, house salad with house dressing, chicken nachos and the gumbo special(if they have it). It looks like they take good care of their tropical fish tank. This makes me happy.

Unilocal said don’t try the gumbo, but I did. Awful. If you can’t cook rice, don’t even bother. On the plus side, Falling Down Romance(a woman with a viola plus her drummer) was awesome. Bali Hai with a viola run through a synthesizer was a rich full sound for just a duo.

Since the reviews were so mixed about this place we hesitated coming here on our vacation but we were so happy to give it a chance!!! Came here on our 2nd to last night while staying at the Aqua hotel only a walk away on our 2nd half of the trip. We easily maneuvered through the construction fences, and it was like a minute walk. I wished we came here more to get our drink on! Man oh man some of the BEST simply made yet DELICIOUS speciality martinis I’ve had on HH for $ 6 a piece!!! I think I had maybe 3 or 4 and no regrets !!! The key lime was my fave it was so yummy and so flavorful with such minimal ingredients! We saw the bartender slinging drinks all by himself to the entire lounge without missing a beat. Our cocktail waitress was very friendly and helpful as well. We originally came for the oysters(so fresh and satisfying) and stayed for the live music(chill live band!!). We also split the nachos, fries, a salad, and maybe an other app or 2. It was a good night :) If you’re staying close definitely give it a chance. I believe it was oyster Tuesday when we came and they sold out so fast !! Glad we ordered a dozen right away, so be sure to come early! :)

The band was setting up as we walked in for happy hour. It’s a $ 1 off the tasty martinis($ 6). My bf and I shared the Trees salad(amazing salad dressing) and the ahi kebab. Both really delicious and filling for two. The bartender was extremely nice and pleasant to talk to. The only complaint is that it’s an enclosed area, wish they would have more windows to allow a breeze to come in… it’s a bit stuffy inside.

Seriously, I don’t know why this place got such high marks because it stank — not literally, but definitely figuratively! The ambience left a *lot* to be desired. The 8 oz. New York steak was not 8 ounces, close to 6. I’d say a good half of that was fat and/or gristle. The veggies were undercooked and the side of rice was ok, but Brown rice, which I’m not overly fond of. Oh well. Next came the band which started *over* ½ hr. late.(They were too busy visiting… on Hawaii time?) Their equipment wasn’t that great, which could have been tolerated, but the minute the lead guitarist opened his mouth to sing, it was all over with for me. Seriously, if you’re just there trolling, it might work for you, but if you’re looking to have fun, this isn’t the place. The *only* reason I’m giving it a 2 is because of Stephanie, who, despite being very busy, with little to no help from the other gal there, was an amazing server. She’s too good for that place.

Outstanding! My wife and I both ordered the jerk chicken and it was outstanding. I wouldn’t call the food spicy, but it was seasoned well. The level of heat was pretty good, but it might have been nice to have it a little hotter. We shared a side of Cajun fries which were really good. There were a few burned fries, but even those were pretty good! I would definitely go back to Trees. The food and service were great!

I have been here a few times in the past yet I keep coming back. The location is right next to my usual hotel– can’t beat walking to/from dinner. This place is a total lounge– the name doesn’t lie… They have a full bar & live music usually. They have happy hour with martini madness from 5 – 7 but the vodka is gordon’s — no thanks. The food is very good! I had the manapua and it was good and filling. It could have used some heat… I also got the nachos. They were amazing! I still can’t believe I finished both! I find it funny when they give you 2 forks when it’s just for one person. I just play along — lol The staff are young and cool in a way that makes you feel less young and cool — except the bartender. Bartenders love everyone.

We spent a hysterical New Years Eve night here. Between the reggae singer who appeared to have um, partake in his own party beforehand, to the drunk local older women dancing like maniacs on the danc e floor I’m not sure what was funnier. Kauai is a really mellow island that shuts down earlier than the others so we chose here. It was great people watching, that us for sure. We were impressed with the drink prices. The food is okay. The place is a Hawaiian/Cajun mix, which is different. I lived in the coast for 15 years so I’m picky about seafood. The bacon wrapped shrimp was a bit overcooked and the fish on the sugar cane skewers were a bit dry, but the Cajun fries were delicious. It was NYE though, and we had a great time. They do have a happy hour where you can get $ 5 martinis. Nice spot for some local people watching and cheap drinks while catching live music.
