This place is small but cozy. The whole front side is windows, which brings in a ton of natural light which I love. I’ve been here twice — wait staff both times was kind of slow, but apologetic about it and very helpful when it comes to food recommendations. The food is great — I’ve gotten their«Usual» breakfast sandwich, their French toast, and their macho burrito — all of which I would recommend. They also have delicious cookies, if you couldn’t tell by the name — the ginger is my favorite!!!

Second time here and still ordered the breakfast casserole with cinnamon roll. Very hearty breakfast and tasty!

I like the atmosphere of this place, small/cozy feel, but you’re not crammed in. The waiting staff is very friendly and they seem to all help out — our drinks came from one waitress, our food from another and our cookies were handled at the register. I got the Green Eggs and Ham, even though Sam not I am. As well as the Ginger, Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin and Oatmeal Nut cookies. Everything was delightful. The ginger cookie is the one that pleasantly surprised me the most. We came in on Saturday around 11:30 a.m. and was able to be seated immediately — granted, it was Memorial Day weekend. I will definitely be back to taste more of their brunch menu and enjoy some more of their homemade cookies. Again, I strongly suggest trying the Green Eggs and Ham. You do not like them. So you say. Try them! Try them! And you may. Try them and you may, I say.

Excellent spot with quick service, in and out if you want, and super coffee. Dined on the eggs Benedict and it paid off. Could have used a smudge more hollandaise and potatoes were under cooked. That happens and I’d go back.

Really wish they had turkey sausage options. Everything is vegetarian or pork — this makes this place impossible for someone who doesn’t eat pork!!! Too bad…

This place is family owned and amazing! The service was fast and intimate and the food was outstanding. It is a tiny place with about 7 tables. The owners are friendly and the menu will leave you drooling!

A good breakfast place for KC. 2 egg scramble with potatoes and fruit. Coffee could be better, but all of KC struggles to serve good coffee I will return.

Since my most recent review of The Classic Cookie, the management contacted me and indicated they had resumed management of the restaurant. My husband and I returned for brunch to give it another try. I ordered the Nutella Waffle; and my husband had the breakfast burrito. The food, service, and wait times seem to have returned to their previous status! Yay! We also had cookies and are happy to say they have returned to their former glory. If you have not been to Classic Cookie; I recommend these cookies for gifts, daily eating, and dessert after having breakfast at the Classic Cookie. Yay! Thank you!

If you want to eat at a small local gem, this is the place. I had the veggie Benedict with fruit which was very filling and delicious. This place is known for great cookies as well but it was a little too early for a cookie. The service was top notch. There was one waitress working the entire room but she did a very good job of checking in on all the tables and making sure everyone had what they needed. The original owner is back in charge of this place and I’m happy that she is back. This spot is forever one of my top breakfast places and not just for KC

The Classic Cookie is a delightful, quaint restaurant. The homemade cookies are terrific and if you order lunch, you are given free cookies and mini muffins before your meal, served in a little strainer. Fortunately, the holes in the strainer are small so the cookies don’t fall through onto the table. The menus, however, did keep falling on the floor because the table wouldn’t nudge up to the wall close enough. And the quote by Cookie Monster stenciled on the wall is a grammatical nightmare, but it’s not too distracting. I recommend the potato and sausage casserole. The coffee is also some of the best I have had in the city, interestingly. The restaurant backs up its name with great cookies in the bakery. We went on a Friday around noon and it wasn’t busy, but a weekend would be a different story.

Lovely hidden spot! Friendly staff and customers as well! Went there for a quit breakfast. Ordered a burrito with a cup of coffee! I had to ask for a refill once, after that she made sure that my cup is a bottomless one. Even though, she was almost all by herself, she made sure that she supply me with my fuel. The burrito took too long to come out, and she explained the reason. The delay were due to a mix up in the kitchen of my detailed order. However, the food was worth the wait. Light, tasty, and satisfying all together! My only regret is that I was too full that I could not get one of their cookies. I must go back and try them soon.

So excited that Leslie is coming back! We have always loved this place except when new management took over. The service and food had gone downhill in a major way. We had stopped going and assumed the place would close soon. But we are excited Leslie is back and re-opening it!

They are known for cookies, and for good reason, however, they do a great job of breakfast. I recommend the casserole, omelette or biscuits & gravy. Don’t forget to grab some cookies for later!

So disappointed! This was the worst service and food we’ve ever had! The server never came to check on us after sitting there for over an hour waiting on our breakfast. Never offered coffee or water refills. The server almost seemed put out when I addressed that we ordered breakfast burrito and not tacos. The b&g’s were sour. Over-easy eggs were well done. All of it was a mess from the min we walked in the door. What a let down! We are never going back!!!

You know something is bad when the boyfriend leaves the restaurant and says, «Can we write a review about that place?» I read some other reviews that have mentioned that there must be new ownership or management, and I agree. I didn’t recognize any of the workers in the whole restaurant, which is unusual for me. There was an older man who didn’t look put-together enough to be running a restaurant, running the restaurant. He stood over our table and asked us awkward questions for way too long. Our waitress was pretty abrasive and took her time getting us anything. The cooks were, as the waitress put it, «having a chopping contest» which sounded like people banging on a metal table. The only good part of the meal was the mini cookies and muffins(which is the only reason we went for lunch instead of breakfast). There was no soup of the day, nor a daily special. My tuna sandwich was very bland; his roast beef sandwich was coated in way, way too much horseradish sauce. The meal cost us $ 16 for just the two sandwiches — no sides — and it just didn’t seem worth it. I’m really bummed to think that I probably won’t go back to this restaurant I used to love.

Went back a second time. The AC wasn’t working well so wasn’t comfortable. Food was good but a bit expensive for portion size, esp the yogurt parfait. Said they closed at 2 but they kept locking the door from the inside from 1:15 on. I’d come back on a cooler day and if I’m in the area. But maybe just for the cookies.

Absolutely love this small breakfast/lunch place! In the heart of Waldo you may miss it if you’re not looking. Service is always warm and welcoming and they have great seasonal specials every day. Their French toast is to die for and all meals seem like they’re made from mom in the kitchen :) so good! The herbed potato and sausage casserole is amazing, fresh, and flavorful! We come all the time when in need of a relaxing homey place to brunch! Don’t go if you’re in a hurry, sometimes you have to wait awhile for a seat BUT well worth it!

I went in to get the«fresh baked» cookies at 9AM on a Thursday. I was told by the employees that that was the best time to get them. Well, ALL the dozen cookies I bought were NOT fresh but at least a day old and hard. I was planning on giving them out to some friends but changed my mind as they were so old. I feel very ripped off and deceived. They used to have such soft, chewy and delish cookies. I won’t go back for their cookies ever again! Very sad and disappointed.

New favorite breakfast spot! We were looking for a sunday afternoon breakfast and everywhere had long waits. We called the Classic Cookie to see what their wait was and they didn’t have one. Score! We were pleasantly surprised by this awesome place. Being a picky eater with food allergies, I loved it! I eat pretty healthy and was able to sub out egg whites in my omelet and it was just delicious overall. I also appreciated that the fruit cup was full of fresh, different fruit than what you normally expect. I don’t like cantaloupe or honeydew, so their offering of pineapples, blueberries, and more was perfect. They kept our coffee filled. It’s a very small place but it was really cozy, and the staff was very friendly. We are pretty picky with our breakfast spots, with lots of duds in the KC area. This one is a keeper!

We hadn’t been to Classic Cookie in too long for breakfast; what a treat it always is! The wait is always worth it, and we weren’t disappointed this time either. I love that you get to choose as many ingredients in the omelets as you want, they are so yummy. I also love that they fill your omelet with your fresh ingredients and also top them with the ingredients; you never have a bite without goodness! They have a great selection of fresh breads or pancakes that are served with your breakfast along with breakfast potatoes. My hubby swears that they have the best breakfast potatoes in town. We have the omelets in every visit, but the other breakfast dishes always look enticing as the arrive at the tables around us. Thanks Classic Cookie for keeping breakfast delicious!

I really don’t get why this place has so many stars. It’s completely unimpressive. It’s a typical breakfast place but they made us wait over half an hour to get our food and they messed up our order. The service was pretty terrible. The lady who was serving us never once apologized for our wait and she didn’t listen to us. She never once made eye contact and would always rush away before we finished telling her what we needed. The food wasn’t bad, but definitely wasn’t worth the wait or drive.

This place rules. It is the definition of a «Ma & pa» restaurant. The food is simple and fantastic, especially the biscuits and gravy. The wait staff is incredibly kind and up best. This is our favorite breakfast joint in town. They packed tables in there pretty tight so you often have a little conversation with your neighbor. The place attracts a bunch of chill people from brookside and Waldo so that’s usually not a group to chat with. You feel like you are in Grandma’s kitchen with family.

I don’t give out negative reviews easily. I came here for my birthday breakfast and couldn’t have been more disappointed. I was so excited to try The Classic Cookie and wanted to like it so badly, but my expectations were all shot down. My friends and I came around 9:30 on a Sunday morning and it was packed. After waiting about half an hour for a table(not worth that long of a wait), we finally sat down to order. My friend is vegan and asked if she could make her own breakfast burrito with just the ingredients she asked for(vegetables, potatoes, etc.). We waited another half hour for our food to arrive, and during that time our waitress didn’t stop by even once to check on us or apologize for the wait. It took us about 20 minutes just to get her attention and ask for some straws, and she never made eye contact or smiled at us, and would scurry away before we could ask for anything else. The service was slow and rude, and to top it off, when the food was brought out they made my friend’s burrito with egg even though she specifically asked for only the ingredients she listed. I ordered the bananas foster french toast(their special that day), and it was decent but not nearly worth the wait/bad service/drive to Waldo if you don’t live in the area. I asked for a to-go box to pack my leftovers and they gave me one so tiny that I had to break the slice of french toast in half to fit it in there. Seriously?! It was pretty disappointing to have such a lackluster start to my birthday. I expected better from all the good things I read on Unilocal! The only upside was the almond poppyseed muffin I munched on while I was waiting for a table. I concede that the baked goods are scrumptious.

Cozy place — very friendly staff with great service! We were aiming for breakfast, but was a little late(ends at 12pm, except Sunday’s 1:30) So we settled for lunch. The food was mediocre. A bit dry and microwave feel, as if it was made earlier and heated up. Portions were medium-small, but good price! Nice surprise with the complimentary basket of baked goods that came as we sat down. Breakfast food is supposed to be the best!

We went here for breakfast 3 weeks ago. It was a great breakfast. I had their special crepes with sausage and veggies. They did a really good job preparing it.
