I was excited for a new coffee place downtown since I’m not a fan of what’s there already. I went in and noticed they use pt’s coffee which are good quality beans. The Barista making my drink sounded surprised that she had pulled a quality shot. I knew it was going downhill from there. The drink was no good but the place is real nice. I’ll give it another shot in a couple months and hope they get some barista training.

Closed down… again. Not sure why this venue won’t work. Maybe Kansas City isn’t ready for a coffee/wine bar yet. BUT, a Latte Land will be filling this space by the end of August(or so I hear from the staff at the Plaza Latte Land), so maybe this corner will start to get more activity.

Lovely, quiet atmosphere that’s great for talking intimately with a friend or two. And the bathrooms are just gorgeous. Good coffee, too. I had some kind of delicious frozen caramel thingy. Yum. Plus, the rain on the windows combined with the smooth jazz made it feel like a true Kansas City kind of place. I’ll be back, I think.

Savvy Coffee and Wine Bar has taught me: * That quiet coffee houses are great places to conduct a meeting. * That good chai is hard to come by, but oh-so-yummy when you can get it. * That colorful décor has a tendency to distract those with short attention spans. Like, say, me. * That being greeted by the sight of alcohol at 10 am when you need to work is the opposite of fun. Is 9:54 am too early to have a cocktail? All that being said, Savvy was everything I expected. I was greeted instantly upon coming in. Quick and efficient table service. Good chai. My tablemates’ fruit plate looked yummy, too. Conducive to talk. Clean and visually interesting. I liked it. I didn’t imbibe the vino, but I can imagine it being a charming place to stop for a drink after work. It would have been nice to see some bigger tables, as I tend to spread out when I work,(I will manifest destiny all over your table too, if I can get away with it) but overall, the place has a good vibe.

Just went there after recently re-opened under new management. Fortunately, décor and ambiance maintained. Nice wine list, improved food menu, great coffee! Had the banana fosters coffee… it was fantastic! only downside is not open as long anymore, but probably a necessary change for the business.

We love it. Quiet upscale but not pretentious atmosphere. Cheese plate and hummus plate awesome and you get a ton of food for your $$$. We have come here on a happening Saturday night and on Sunday afternoon for wine and food. Always room, always happy when I leave, not cheap but not a rip-off.

I’m a fan of this place, mostly due to the location and my condo/work…like others have said, it’s no JP wine bar but I don’t think that’s what they are going for. Love the ability to make your own flight and their menu keeps expanding. Staff is exceptional.

Another example of Unilocal’s «A-OK» listing for 3 stars hitting right on the mark. Savvy certainly isn’t replacing JP in anyone’s book for a sexy, romantic wine bar date place anytime soon. It’s much more casual and bright. The layout of the lower chairs and tables is a little crowded and I saw some of the staff battling with getting through them to some of the high top tables. If you came with, say, a group of 4 and didn’t want to sit at a high top, conversation in the cushy looking lower chairs and tables might be hard to hold… It’s all just spaced a little weird. Thursdays are Ladies Night, so all glasses of wine are half off for us classy broads. Good thing, because I felt the(kind of limited) wine menu was a tiny bit on the pricey side. Perhaps that’s just my cheap, laid off side coming through. I had a glass of Wycliff Brut and it was great. There’s a very limited menu of snacks that seemed a little overpriced as well. The guys at the table next to us ordered the hummus, which *did* look pretty tasty. Right now I just can’t justify an order of hummus for $ 11. Service was fantastic. Our girl introduced herself and chatted us up without it feeling forced. She was really cute. The bathroom, specifically the sink, was freaking amazing! Check it out to see what I mean. I can definitely see us going back to Savvy… but I’m guessing it will always be on a Thursday and maybe during happy hour for cheaper times.

So, another wine bar. Although I appreciate the location, it doesn’t seem to have the warmth or charm of, say, JP’s Wine Bar. For me, it just doesn’t have that«sexy» appeal. Too bright and lacking places to tuck yourself away. It certainly seems to work and feel more like a coffee stop. The inside is very casual and open. The day I was here I ordered a raspberry ice tea, which was a special on their board. You would think I ordered something more serious, since everyone tried to pass it off on each other and seemed surprised that I ordered something at all. Not sure that this place will be able to run efficiently when it is full of all the high maintenance coffee fanatics. My tea was great, big and had plenty of ice. I like being able to get a big drink before I walk over to Polished Salon. I will be back for another tea to go. I am not into hanging out in coffee shops– never got it, never will.

I came here yesterday to get some work done, trying to avoid the office on my day off. As far as a coffee shop goes, it definitely met all of my needs. The coffee is very good, and the ladies behind the counter were quite friendly. They had a variety of teas as well. All pretty standard coffee house fare, but that’s exactly what I needed. It seems that they were serving sandwiches that looked good, however smaller than what I’m used to eating. But then again, the girl behind the counter was skinnier than me, so maybe I need to rethink my food portioning. Ambiance…hmmmm, where do i begin. The tables are fine. Comfortable, with plenty of work space, and lots of natural light. It’s easy to find an electrical outlet, which is important to somebody like me, with an older than dirt laptop that likes to crap out. They played kinda bad music, but maybe that’ll change in the future. What seemed really odd to me though, was the non-table seating. It looks seriously uncomfortable and uninviting. Just the look of it really deterred me from considering Savvy as a wine-bar option. I sit at a table and work while i drink my coffee, or i take it to go. When I’m drinking wine with friends I want to sprawl out a bit, get comfortable. I wonder if they’re going to have tables out on the sidewalk. That’d definitely persuade me to come back and try the wine. Speaking of wine, i did check out the wine list, and it seems pretty limited. The bathroom is seriously cool! First of all, it smelled good! Men’s rooms never smell good. Neutral at best, overly strong air freshener to mask other smells is typical, and straight up fart at the worst. But the bathroom at Savvy actually smelled VERY pleasant. Weird thing to notice, i know… Additionally, the sink is really great. It’s exactly the kind of sink i’d like to have in my own home, functional and modern and very unique. I’m glad that the owners of Savvy have an eye for design. Overall, a perfectly acceptable, possibly above average coffee shop, and with it right across the street from Starbucks, I’d go here just to keep my money going someplace local. But I do have my reservations for the place as a wine bar.
