Have to make a stop in for the shrimp poboys when I’m in town. Roast beef was pretty damn good as well. Onion rings were very nicely battered and fried. Gumbo delish! Red beans, yummm!

Took this recommendation from a local. By far the best poboy I have had! And I particularly like the remoulade Po boy because it is not fried. Good one of a kind restaurant. It is seat your self. I went at about noon on a Friday and didn’t have trouble finding two spots. Wonderfully friendly service– they accidentally made an extra Po boy with my order and ended up giving it to me free of charge! I love this place. And I will be back!

I’m trying not to kill my weight loss but… when in New Orleans… you must eat New Orleans food! A friend suggested getting a shrimp po boy but I thought about the bread… I couldn’t do it. But, I opted for the shrimp platter with the house salad and red beans and rice. The shrimp was plentiful and tasty. It was really enough for later or to share. I did neither! The house salad had romaine lettuce and tomatoes and was tossed with Italian dressing. The red beans and rice was fine. There was a nice crowd of people when I got there and when I left. I probably waited 15 minutes for my to go order. I had no problem with that. My hot food was still hot when I got to my destination less than 15 minutes later. I plan on coming here again.

I mean I don’t even know what to say here. The best duck Po’ boy I have ever had with slaw. The Green tomatoes are killer and a fantastic batter on them, no gritty corn meal on them. Staff was awesome in making suggestions and right next to an amazing antique place. Win win for me! Thank you!

Amazing shrimp PoBoy. A must for anyone visiting Nola. When you order, the friendly wait staff brings your food. Mac n cheese, jambalaya and red beans and rice are all authentic. The PoBoys are huge and massively stuffed with shrimp.

Came here for lunch and had the slow cooked duck Po’ Boy. The cashier recommended adding cole slaw and ordering onion rings. Absolutely delicious! It’s everything you would expect from a quality hole in the wall. Be ready for a food coma…

If you are coming in from ‘the city’, Crabby Jack’s is just a bit passed where Claiborne changes to Jefferson Hwy. at the parish line. This po-boy shop and lunch diner serves great food with big portions. The last time we were there my mom ordered a regular-sized ham sandwich and had to take half home. I ordered the fried green tomatoes with shrimp remoulade. Happy bellies all around!

More of a 3.5. I had the Oyster and Shrimp Poboy and the the read beans and rice. I was expecting a little move of a flavor pinch from the Poboy. The beans were hearty and tasty. Had a side of Remoulade sauce that was quite good.

It is for sure a spot full of locals so get ready to sit back and enjoy the sights! Make sure you ask for your poboy to be «dressed» — this will add lettuce pickles and mayo to it. The regular is 8 inches and the king is 12! You will be more than happy with the amount of seafood they add– mine was overflowing!

So delicious! Had the fried green tomato poboy with shrimp remoulade. Shrimp galore and the tomatoes were fabulous. The remoulade sauce was to die for!!! My first time, but NOT my last time to visit. When on this side of the La, I’ll visit every time!

OMG! I’m addicted to their fried chicken. It’s the closest anyone has ever gotten to my great grandmother’s fried chicken recipe. It’s very simple, not overly seasoned or battered but SO freaking good. That’s all I have to say…

I’ve had Crabby Jack’s on my «to do» list for awhile after reading about their amazing po boys online, so I was extremely excited when a friend suggested we go for Friday lunch. After looking at their menu for nearly 5 minutes trying to decide what I wanted(it all looked so good!), I ultimately decided to get a half Duck po boy and a half Fried Green Tomato po boy. The service was a little slower than expected(approx. 10 min) but could probably be chalked up to going during the middle of the lunch rush hour. Unfortunately my order was wrong when it came out initially(they gave me a full Fried Green Tomato po boy instead of half of that and half a Duck). However, they were very gracious when I told them about the mix-up and made me a new FULL Duck po boy free of charge and with a smile! So bonus points for awesome customer service! Anyways, on to the food: — Fried Green Tomato Po Boy: Very generous helpings of the shrimp, which paired well with the sauce. I would have liked if the fried tomatoes were crispier(I think the sauce made them a bit soggy) to give the sandwich more texture. Overall, the po boy was good but I think the shrimp dominated it — I would have liked to have tasted more of the fried tomatoes. — Duck Po Boy: For sure, my favorite of the two. The duck was extremely tender and had tremendous depth and flavor. There was a lot of duck in the sandwich too, they definitely do not skimp on the meat! I would definitely order this again(and get a full instead of a half) the next time I go. One of the best po boys I’ve had in New Orleans for sure. OVERALL: 4⁄5. Excellent customer service and great Po Boys. Am definitely looking forward to my next visit to Crabby Jack’s!

Delicious! Had the seafood platter with fried oysters, fried shrimp, jambalaya, and grilled catfish. Everything was really great. The oysters were plump but the breading was flavorful and crunchy. The shrimp were on the smaller side, but also great. My favorite part was the grilled catfish. The seasonings were incredibly flavorful and it was not over cooked and mushy! I would absolutely go back for that over and over. The jambalaya was a hearty side, it just wasn’t the most flavorful I have ever had(some might prefer it that way). To top it all off I got a side of remoulade– which was the best I had on my entire trip. I would for sure make sure to get that again next time I go back. It can be a little tricky to find seating with a big group during peak times(we went with 5 people). However, I think the grilled catfish, fried oysters and remoulade are definitely worth it!

I could kick myself for not checking in here the last four visits. So let me begin by saying this is the best place we have found so far to get shrimp, oyster and catfish poboys. Believe me, Lent is starting to feel really long so I’m grateful to be able to drop in on a Friday to assuage my lazy appetite! So, easy-peasy, the sandwiches are fantastic. What I fantasize about though, is the remoulade sauce. I could eat that stuff straight. But why eat it straight when you can have it over fried green tomatoes? Yes, the fried green tomatoes are AH-MAY-ZING! So hear this my friends and family. If you come to New Orleans and you want a po-boy. This is where we’re going!

This place is my favorite place for a po’boy in Jefferson Parish. Crabby Jack’s is related to that wonderful restaurant on Oak Street, Jacques Imo’s Café. This location serves your regular fare of po’boy options but everyone knows the choice of french bread, quality of dressing ingredients, and the frying recipes for the seafood, are all variable and thus unique to each restaurant. I think Crabby Jack’s gets it pretty darn close to how I like my po’boy. The restaurant itself is set up like a cafeteria style. You order up front and then you sit down in this big room with plenty of tables. Definitely come check this place out, I’ll be back soon!

We wanted to try Jacques-Imo’s, but were out of dinner spots on our culinary calendar. On their website was the suggestion to try their sister restaurant«Crabby Jack’s» for lunch. Sure enough we had one lunch left in us on this New Orleans trip and the Unilocal reviews sure looked good for Crabby Jack’s. We hopped a cab over from the French Quarter and 15 minutes later showed up at this local hole in the wall just as they opened. It’s a pretty simple order at the counter, take a number kind of place. I got to try several items here and it was pretty good. Shrimp Po-Boy — I dare you to find a place that puts more shrimp on their Po-Boy than Crabby Jacks. It was impossible to keep them all on there, as they kept tumbling off. If you order this your shrimp will runneth over. Fried up golden brown and piping hot, I felt this Po-Boy still needed a little Louisiana Hot Sauce for some flavoring, which they have for you to add. I also strongly recommend getting some remoulade to slather on. Toppings were shredded lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles. I have to say I was a little disappointed in the bread and wish it was slightly crispier. 4 stars Fluer de Bree Po-Boy — Baked Ham, Roast Beef Debris, and gravy. Another sandwich served piping hot. This is one soggy tasty mess. Topped with shredded lettuce, tomato, pickles, and mayo. No way did the bread hold up against the gravy and this sandwich fell apart instantly, so bring your knife and fork with you if you are going to attempt it. 4 stars Jacques Imo’s Famous Half Fried Chicken. Ok your love for this chicken depends if you are an extra crispy person or an original recipe kind of person. If you are in the extra crispy camp, this is your fried chicken. We had to wait for about 25 minutes, since this is fried up to order. This was fine, since we had those Po-Boys to keep us company. I didn’t find the batter that flavorful, but it was fried perfectly and had great crunch to it. The breast was incredibly juicy, there was nothing dry about it whatsoever. That said, I’m an original recipe guy, so I’ve had better and was expecting more. 3.5 stars Jambalaya — this was the best thing I ate here, with big chunks of sausage and tomatoes, I would have been happy with just a whole bowl of this. 5 stars. Mac ‘n Cheese — while not bad, it sure tasted exactly like Kraft Mac ‘n Cheese. I’m not saying it was, but I’m not sure why if you are making your own, you would want that same flavor profile. 2.5 stars I guess my assessment is that you don’t need to leave the French Quarter for Crabby Jack’s. It’s more of a local place, with large portions and very fair prices, but it doesn’t need to be on the Foodie Traveler’s radar. If you are in the neighborhood though, most definitely stop on in. Everyone working there was very friendly. I can tell this is a popular local lunch spot for many, and rightly so.

Yeap 3 stars! Crabby Jack’s located on Jefferson hwy, plenty of car parking available. Since I love whole in the wall restaurants, I was excited to try this place. Lots of different trinkets on the wall, decors very interesting. Plenty of seating available inside the restaurant. They offer sandwiches like Po-boys, pulled pork, brisket and sides like Mac n cheese, fries and so much more. Sandwiches come in 2 sizes(8in or 12in). I ordered the fried green tomatoes and shrimp remoulade. I really wanted to love it but didn’t like some aspects of the sandwich. The bread reminded me of a day old Cuban, super chewy. Wish it was a different bread or a fresher bread would’ve been better. Shrimps were chilled but the fried green tomatoes were hot from the fryer. I didn’t understand what I was eating. Different temperature within the sandwich made my palate feel confused. We also ordered side of French fries. Nothing too special, basic recipe. Tasted like it was previously frozen. Overall, it wasn’t what I expected. I ended up spending $ 60 for 4 sandwiches and a side of French Fries.

Off the beaten path? Yep. Hole in the wall? Yep. Standard NOLA fair? Yep. Incredible food that must be devoured? ABSOLUTELYYES!!! The King sizes Shrimp Po-Boy is massive and worth every penny of it’s $ 13.50 price tag. The shrimp is perfection! The wife had the fish tacos, which I had to sample, of course for the sake of journalistic integrity! I don’t know were to start my rave on these gems. The salsa was in house made fresh and was paired perfectly with the abundant amount of clean, bright tasting and generous portions of fish! A NOLA buddy told me I had to try Crabby Jack’s and I would thank him later. Brad, I can’t thank you enough!
