Came here to try a Sunday. However couldn’t get to that part, didn’t feel to well. I did eat lunch and I was disappointed. chicken fingers and French fries. Fries were good, chicken fingers were so over cooked it was ridiculous. How do you mess up chicken fingers. Burger was okay, I would say 5 out of 10. My husband got a BBQ burger and they basically slapped a lot go BBQ sauce on top. Again, wasn’t the worst but I would never go back for lunch. I saw other Unilocal reviews and the ice cream looks so good. I’m undecided about going back. Wondering if it’s a waste of money. Waitress seem not the greatest either. I really can’t describe it but I would rather have someone else waiting the table. I use to come here(different location I believe) to get ice cream. I’ll give it one more try(not the food part) but def to have dessert. It seems like an original same dive diner. I hope they can redeem themselves.

My favorite diner /old school feel restaurant with comfortable booths. Good food. Nice waitress that can use a little help in being more attentive…

This diner is a time machine back to a simpler time when you’d take the family to the diner for breakfast, or a father would take his son for an ice cream sundae at the counter. Jahn’s used to be a chain but this is the only remaining outpost or so i hear. They have the old school stained glass lamps and fixtures. What did you come here for? Oh yeah, the food. Well, really it is your typical NYC greek diner. No gourmet experiences to be had here. However, it is a perfect place to read your newspaper on a sunday morning with 2 eggs, hash browns and a cup of coffee. Highly recommend.

Good was okay, I went to dinner with a friend here because he worked nearby. We didn’t get a chance to try the ice cream but the food was alright!

One of the best diners Ive ever been too! and the oldest in JH! We came on a Sunday morning and had to wait a few minutes for a table of two. Our waitress was a doll and had a smile on her face the entire time. I had the western omelette and he had the pastrami sandwich. Both were phenomenal! Nothing crazy but just simple, straight«clean» eating. They didnt OD on the cheese on my omelette, the home fries were cooked perfectly, and his pastrami had the perfect amount of mustard! We topped our meals off with a coffee egg-cream and a chocolate egg-cream. This place feels so homey! Ive waited too long to visit. Put it on your list!

This old school dinner seems also a family business. The décor is amazing and seems to be the same for the last 40 years. I would love to shoot a video piece or something in here. I got a apple pie à la mode and it was very good. Moderate prices and good service.

I frequent this location during lunch just because its close and its decently priced. I usually order the pizza burger or the turkey burger and eh, its a diner, so I don’t really expect to be wowed by the flavor or anything. Sadly a week ago I came in and ordered at chicken parm sandwich. To my disappointed it was under-cooked and was also old. I expressed my discontent to the waiter and he ordered me another one to go as I didn’t get beyond half the sandwich before I gave up trying to stomach it. The new sandwich arrived and I took it to go, and to be honest it was tough, and gummy, it actually tasted like it had been recooked several times as you can see the dry marks in the chicken when you cut it. 2 weeks prior to that, I ordered a turkey burger deluxe. The Turkey burger was most definitely not placed on the grill. Instead it was microwaved. I know this because I have been lazy at home before and done the same, the texture and taste was similar. The burger lacked any taste and just was too uninviting to my taste buds to enjoy. I will say that I love their cheese fries and gravy. I have yet to go to a place where they make the gravy like they do at Jahns. I usually dont have any complaints about this place, its sad that my last two lunches their were met with disappointment. Hopefully, if I can convince myself again to go, I will have a better experience.

Jahn’s! My go-to neighborhood diner for the last ten years. I admire how preserved it feels when you walk through the door. The décor appears as if it’s been untouched for decades. You don’t see many diners like this in Queens. Frankly, I don’t think I’ve seen another like it at all. Also, if you’re celebrating a birthday, do yourself a favor and pay a visit; they offer free birthday sundaes!

This place feels like you’ve gone back in time. The wait staff is friendly and prompt and they have amazing and plentiful Sat dinner specials. I ordered a lamb shank and my friend ordered meatloaf and we were stuffed from the three course meal that included dessert. The setting seems as if it is frozen in time from the middle of america. It is unique in its Americana theme because it is surrounded by ethnic restaurants all around.

One of the best diners still around. Been coming here for years. This, along with a few others are still some of the best diners in NYC. We usually come here Sundays for breakfast and have never been disappointed.

They have a large menu, and a big place. The service is kind of slow but OK. For the food, we found their main dishes just so so, but the sundaes are really impressive.

Not too bad! Came here for breakfast today around 11AM. There was a wait, but my friend and I managed to get 2 free seat at the counter right away. I ordered fried eggs with sausage, and it came with toast and potatoes. The potatoes here are reeeallly good! They are fried pretty crispy and browned. YUM! The sausage was a decent portion, and wasn’t even close to eating everything. Over all – big portion, standard diner price, okay service.

When I was a child my family liked to grab ice cream at the local Baskins & Robbins only to go late one night & find it closed. My dad was extremely stubborn so he drove around until he stumbled on this restaurant in the neighborhood called Jones Ice Cream Parlor. I was so young all I could remember was it was dark & very busy, but I enjoyed my butter pecan ice cream. The curiosity with this place never went away, and my local barber who has been cutting my hair since I was five corrected me saying it was Jahn’s, not Jones. Needless to say, my curiousity reached a fever pitch when I found out there was one Jahn’s left in Jackson Heights. I decided to brave the lack of parking in the neighborhood and re-discover a place from my youth. I’m sad to report Jahn’s should’ve stayed in my memories of the 80’s. As it turns out, all of the Jahn’s went the way of the dodo & closed shop. I deduce that one person wanted to keep Jahn’s going & kept the business running in Jackson Heights. Over the years, Jahn’s has veered away from what it was, which was an ice cream parlor & become more like a traditional diner you’d find around queens. Menu options were similar with cheeseburger deluxes, gyros, etc. in fact, many reviews I read stated that Jahn’s was more known for breakfast than ice cream. With that said, they still had a small portion of their menu dedicated to desserts. However, for all of the crazy sounding names for the dessert options, there was no description as to what was in them & our waiter had no idea. To be safe, I just ordered a butter pecan sundae with caramel sauce and almonds. It wasn’t large but it was satisfying, although I wasn’t pleased with the $ 7.65 price for a sundae I can get for $ 5.50 at friendlys. In the back of my mind I was disappointed, however I did award Jahns three stars based on the fact that our server was friendly & our order came out quick. I’m also giving the owners some credit for retaining the name Jahns & adapting — making it a breakfast spot — to keep the business going.

I love Jahn’s! I absolutely adore this place.!It’s my go-to diner! I Iove the whole feel of place. It’s very home-y and quite cozy looking. You can tell it’s been around for awhile but it’s very nostalgic and adorable in its own little way. The staff is very friendly, our waiters have always been very attentive and quick. Food comes out pretty quick and it’s a great price. I always get a bacon cheeseburger deluxe or just the Jahn’s Big Breakfast with pancakes. You can never go wrong with that. Overall I’ve never had a bad experience with them and I will continue to eat here forever!

I’m giving this little gem of a diner a 4 out of 5 stars, the 4th star is purely for aesthetic reasons. I felt as if I was transported to another time in NYC where you could still find a diner in a Pharmacy and called people behind the counter Soda Jerks. I couldn’t bring myself to order their very enticing ice cream/malt drinks because I was really looking for lunch but I did try their 10 oz cheeseburger deluxe and onion rings, which were good! I may be back… I’ve got Brooklyn Farmacy to hit up for their milkshakes and ice cream before I come back here but I’ll make sure to report back on their desserts if I do!

If you want a Family establishment and cheap food you have reached Jahn’s. If you are looking for some good quality ice cream or other delicious desserts then wow have you come to the right place. Normally when you go to a diner you get your basic flavors strawberry, vanilla and chocolate. Not here!!! Here you have a choice of vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, coffee, butter pecan, cherry vanilla, pistachio, vanilla fudge, chocolate chip, mint chip, sherbet. I recommend the Pistachio or Strawberry simply because they both have their respected pistachio nuts in them and real strawberries. I can even explain how delighted I feel when I taste this ice cream. But enough about the ice cream lets move on to the food. THEFISHISTODIEFOR Especially the BLUEFISH. They have a special where you get the blue fish with soup to start, the main meal, then coffee and ice cream. Lets just say for a group of 5 of us the meal came out to $ 70. Considering almost all of us got seafood that is a fantastic price. They make their broccoli crispy and it isn’t mushy like most diners have it. The carrots are made well as well as their mashed potatoes. I didn’t have any french fries but from what I can tell everyone seemed to enjoy them. They made their penne pasta al dente with grilled chicken and broccoli very well. Their prices are so reasonable and you would never think that they are considering how much other places charge. You have to make sure you order off the SPECIALSBOARDINTHEFRONT because that deal is not on the menu itself. :BATHROOMALERT: No complaints here. I was really happy to see they take care of the bathroom considering this have been around for awhile. Now on to the workers. They are very friendly and help you out. It seems like everyone who works there is bilingual spanish. I like that after we ate the main meal we were asked how the food was. Don’t you just hate it when your server asks you while you take a huge bite out of something and your mouth is full? Well thankfully our waitress didn’t do that. Lastly, when we received our coffee I was extremely happy because it really is good. I like that they have a choice of 4 different types of sugar on the tables. Splenda, Equal, Sweet & Low and Regular Sugar. I choose regular sugar but the people in our party were pleased there was splenda. TIP: ITISVERYHARDTOFINDPARKINGSOMETIMESIFYOUWANTTOCOMEHEREBYCAR.

The internet tells me that this is the last surviving outpost of Jahn’s! This old school diner is for real. I don’t think any of the upholstery, wall panels, or furnishings have changed in the 50+ years it’s been open.(Try to avoid looking at the ceiling if you want to keep your appetite.) Nevertheless,(and even though it was my first time here), there was something nostalgic about it. The pace here moved slower as customers ate their meatloaves, tuna melts, burgers, and fries. I was amused by the full page of wacky nondescript ice cream sundaes, but when the waitress made her way around, I gave up on trying to figure out the menu! I just told her I wanted a sundae with 2 scoops(pistachio almond & mint chocolate chip), a bit of hot fudge, whipped cream, and rainbow sprinkles. She came back with a hefty dish that took quite a few bites to make a dent in. I could bet none of it was homemade, but I still really enjoyed it. My concoction totaled $ 7.75, and I’m ready to come back for the $ 51.95 «Everything but the Kitchen Sink» Sundae that serves 8! Who’s down?!
