OMG! The beef empanadas are super delicious! They have a deep fried corn shell and tasty potatoey interior. The chicken ones have a vinegar tartness to them that makes stand out. I haven’t tried the spinach ones, but I heard they are good. I have tried ones that taste like onion and mushroom, but they didn’t speak to my belly. I do want to try the cholados that Unilocaler Vivian Y. mentioned. I am soo coming back!

Very disappointed to find out that they no longer have the coconut bread with the cream. & their chicken sandwich no longer has any taste. It’s so dry and tasteless. They are getting a little overpriced

I kept on hearing about cholados: these fresh fruits, condensed milk, shaved ice concoctions that sound like heaven in a cup. After looking around Unilocal,I found this gem and decided to give it a visit. It’s located on a very busy street but stands out; bright yellow signage up front. The counter is located on the left side. Ice cream/smoothies when you first enter, baked goods and drinks in the middle and in the far back are daily lunches. The staff was very accommodating and answered all my questions, especially since it was very obvious I had no idea what half of the things were. I ordered my cholado and watched as she made it for me: Shaved ice goes in first. Then 2 types of syrups, fresh bananas, condensed milk, tropical fruits mix, strawberries, coconut flakes, cherries, and more condensed milk on top. My first bite? Freaking delicious. Do yourself a favor and make this your staple spring/summer dessert. Can’t wait to come here again and try their hot foods in the back. I saw so many locals eating it and at 8.75 a plate, it is quite a bargain.

The best place in Jackson Heights to get a CHOLADO! I am telling you, the way they make the cholado you won’t find it anywhere else. They add bananas coconut mangos strawberries grapes and I believe it is lechera and crushed ice. I always come here in the summer just for a cholado. The price isn’t bad either I believe its around $ 7 I don’t remember One thing I should say how come they never add the waffles on the cholado:(thats one thing missing How I wish it was summer already so I can have one! Enjoy Everyone

I’ve only indulged in their refreshing and delicious Cholado. This tasty Colombian treat is like a fruit salad meets a Slurpee. A concoction of fruit syrup is added(Passionfruit and Strawberry, I believe) atop shaved ice, with delicately sliced fruits which include banana, mango, strawberry, pineapple, and melon. The fruit is then covered in CONDENSED milk and finished off with a classic cherry on top. What makes this Cholado particularly special is the grand finale — a crispy sweet wafer. A beautiful token of my artificially rich childhood. In typical Colombian fashion, the woman that prepared my Cholado was super polite, referred to me as mi amorcito(my little love), with a beautiful smile. I’m not Colombian, I’ve just always admired their respectful and warm demeanor. This Cholado brings shaved ice to a whole other level. Perhaps a diabetic and high caloric one, but what the hell, live a little!

Selection is a bit too wide to the point of being diluted IMO, but includes OK empanadas if you’re in a pinch.

I’ve stopped here on many occasions before meeting with my attorney who has an office nearby to pick up some empanadas and some strong coffee. I prefer the baked beef and chicken empanadas. This place also sell the cheese breads that are served at the Brazilian churascarrias. The hot food station looks yummy and has a good selection of Hispanic delicacies.

I first wandered into this place because I was hungry, wanted a coffee and was too tired to walk to Starbucks(about 4 blocks away), too cold to wait for street cart food and didn’t feel like getting Chinese food(and trust me, that’s RARE) — so in walking by, looking up and seeing«La Casa de los Antojitos»(The House of Yummy things you crave) I was intrigued… I’m confident that you simply just can’t go wrong here with whatever cookie, pastry or sandwich you go order here — this place is LEGIT! Even their coffee is delicious — warm is rest and their ice coffee is delicious and devoid of simple syrups and fancy schmany coffee stuff(that I don’t normally mind too much) and it’s a nice change. The clientele here is usually small families, Mom’s with their daughters, small groups of teens and small groups of guys/gals who are just here to eat and run. This isn’t a bad where people come and stay for hours, but in theory you probably could since they play Spanish TV with telenovelas that would easily suck me in so I avoid looking at them, lol. The ladies behind the counter are super sweet and will do whatever they can so you enjoy your food, drink, stay — etc. Whenever I get one of their crazy fluffy and deliciously flaky croissants I always ask them nicely to warm it up and they’re always amazing. I also re comment their rainbow and/or chocolate sprinkle shortbread cookies! They’re aaaaawesome and like everything else here — made on site. The empanadas are okay… I’m going to leave it at that because it’s not their fault that I prefer the stylings of Mama’s Empanadas… not to say they’re bad here, they’re well made and they don’t skimp out on fillings. Options include chicken, beef and spinach — I just don’t come here for that. I come here for their bakery and their ‘tortas’ — which is Spanish for ‘sandwiches’…mmmmm…sandwiches :).

Delicious!!! Want some good authentic Colombian food? Come to this place! I love when my family comes here. The food is amazing! The locals frequent this locale often. The people who work here make you feel at home. And bonus? There’s plenty of seating space. The only problem is finding parking. Want a tip? Come here in the morning and you’ll have more luck with parking.

This place has it all! A bakery, ice cream, smoothies, shakes, fruit salads, cholados, as well as full Colombian breakfast, lunch and dinner plates. I haven’t gotten a chance to try an actual meal here yet, but I am a fan of their cojeta(similar to caramel) filled pastries, guava pastries, and breads. They also make amazing Cholados(though I’ve never met an Cholado I didn’t love). They use a ton of fresh fruit and the perfect ratio of shaved ice, raspberry syrup and condensed milk! The ultimate summer treat! I really appreciate that they actual chop their fruit rather small(don’t worry they still give you plenty though) because it makes it a lot easier and less awkward to eat. I can get bites with multiple different types of fruit in one bite rather than a big chunk of a single fruit in each bite. $ 6 is a little on the high end for Cholados, but these ones are big, fruit packed and deliciously worth it! Everything in here looks and smells amazing.
