Steak ‘n Shake

Came in to eat breakfast with the folks and found the restrooms were immaculate.
The rest of the restaurant was filthy. First off the dinning area was near empty. The first booth had salt all over the seat, so I looked else where. All the seats and benches had food and other stuff on them. So we asked if they could wipe it down for us. They did. Then I started looking around. The table they sat us at had dried drink rings from the coffee cups and such. The placemats had debris on them which means they weren’t replaced but reused. Food and litter on the floor, table bases had a layer of filth and grime on them, the 3 inch space between the bench seat and back was loaded with trash. Point being its NOT CLEAN. When the rest of my party arrived we left to find another restaurant. If this is what the public sees I’d hate to see what we don’t.

I normally go into Steak ‘n Shake expecting bad service but the employees were great, the food came out quickly and it was actually still warm. :-)

I’ve stopped here a few times with my family on my way from Indy to Bloomington, in hopes of grabbing a «quick» shake and use the restroom.
You would think I would learn that there is nothing quick about this location, not to mention the fact that the restroom has NEVER been anything even bordering on clean. In fact it is the kind of UNCLEAN that makes you wonder if you are going to get more germs if you wash your hands.
The shakes, once you do get them, are usually wrong – ingredients or not blended. By wrong ingredients I mean you order a Hershey Dark Chocolate or Cookies n Cream and you taste peanut butter… which when your daughter has a peanut allergy is very scary!

I agree with the previous Unilocaler when I go thru the drive thru I seen trash under milk shake machine I kid you not went back a couple of weeks later and same trash under machine. It was the same trash for sure. They never clean.

Kind of blurry, but this was what I saw at the Steak & Shake at Southport and IN37 last week. I walked in to get a coffee at the bar. Fries and a whole burger are on the floor. Workers were walking on/​past the stuff like it wasn’t there with the manager too.
I snapped this and left. No respect for either the kitchen, the food, themselves, or the patrons exists here. Goodbye forever.
