I’m still shocked that this was my first time at Ruth Chris. I always like more local places than chain restaurants but I was pleasantly surprised. Some friends and I went to enjoy their Devour Menu, three courses for $ 35. The salad, ribeye and cheesecake were all delicious! The reason for my four stars was the table placement we were sat at. I understand we arrived at 7 without reservations but I would of rather waited a few minutes for a different table than the one we were put at. I actually can’t believe it’s up to fire code because we were blocking an Exit Door. While it was also right next to the servers quarters; hearing and seeing everything perfectly was not too glamorous. They obviously placed this table there to get more«booties in seat», more people eating. Being a hostess in the past, I understand how this all works but I’ll be sure to be a little more picky next time. Be prepared for a fantastic dinner, the food is superb!

The steak was as great as I remembered and the service was perfect but we were very sad that they have taken 3 items off the menu that have been our family favorites – Cajun shrimp appetizer, lyonnaise potatoes, & broccoli au gratin. They have also had a pretty healthy price increase to an already pricey menu. I don’t think Ruth would be happy!

Man oh man. Why did it take me 34 years to finally eat at Ruth Chris? The food is amazing. I went for a work event and they had the place decorated for Christmas. It was lovely. They really outdid themselves, and we found out the staff does the holiday decorating themselves, which makes it extra neat to me. For lunch I had the filet, with creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. Let me say that normally the very idea of creamed spinach makes me gag, but it smelled so good I thought I would give it a try. I’m glad I did, it was delicious. The potatoes were perfect, smooth and creamy without being runny. But the filet… Sometimes you have a steak that pretty much puts all other beef to shame. This was one of those steaks. It was perfectly cooked, tender, and an amazing amount of flavor. Steaks like that are the reason I will never be able to be a vegetarian. Me + beef = bffs. We had a double desert of chocolate mousse and crème brûlée. The chocolate mousse was good, but the crème brûlée surprised me. I don’t normally care for crème brûlée, but this was so good I would have licked the plate if I’d been alone. The top was perfectly caramelized, so you get that crunchy sugar shell. And the inside was a vanilla bean cream/custard that was heavenly. The service was also fantastic. Very attentive. Overall a wonderful experience and I can’t wait to take my husband here for our next date night.

Horrible– horrible –horrible — if you must hit a steak chain. go to Sullivan’s instead — much much much better. This place rendered terrible service for a large group, out done only by the horrible gristly meat and fishy fish… Seriously! Attempted to post a review only to have it taken down… 5TIMES! Manager reached out to make it right. Hope -/will they reconcile this horrible experience? Nope!!! After countless emails and false promises. Nothing — Nada — zilch … Run do not walk from this over rated house of past success’ and hollow promises. Place is a joke… Outback provides a more honest experience., quite frankly — better quality. Lifelong fan of this chain. Boston — San Diego — NY — Philly. All blew us away — this one however, well, thought I was going to dazzle my in-laws, instead — embarrassed. Live in Center City Philadelphia and will not walk into this chain — that’s how bad. They got our $ 680.00… Don’t let them get yours. Too many great independent spots to hit. It all starts and ends with leadership. And in this place. That is an absent component! They put the«RIP» in «RIPOFF.» You have been warned. Love

I gave them a one star because I was racially discriminated against. My friend placed an order over the phone when I arrived to pick up order I gave my friend’s name and they looked me up and down and told me no orders had been placed. Later a lady by the name of Lindsay which I believe was the manager showed up and said that a person by the name I gave them did place an order and then the man who refused to give me his name said«no no one placed an order» then the manager Lindsay also agreed and said no one placed an order. Even though she had already said my friend’s name and said he did place an order but now she simply agreed with the other guy and told me I had not placed an order. They both looked at me up and down in a condescending manner and refused to provide service. I was not being rude I was being polite. After they refused to provide service or even acknowledge me. I began to walk out, I mentioned as I walked out that I worked for the press and then magically they found my order and started treated me like a human. They finally brought me my food cold!!! Come on anyone that’s been to Ruth Chris’ knows that their food is never cold. I will never go to any Ruth Chris’ again. I won’t miss much.

Best place in Indy to get a steak. The cowboy ribeye is the best steak they offer but really the only one I ever it. I can’t change it because it’s that amazing. The atmosphere is everything you want for a place like this. The service is best I have ever had. Keep up the good work.

Keep it simple, keep it real! Ruth Chris might be a chain but you know you can’t go wrong with your dinner here. I’ve been here three times and one thing I know they are very consistent with the quality of food. I’ll start with the ambience; 8⁄10 only because I don’t like dim lit places very much. Service 10⁄10 very warm and friendly. The best thing is, despite being a steakhouse they do not have a very strict dress code. We called them for a reservation literally minutes before going and they were able to accommodate us. We were in our biking attire(read: half shorts and t shirts) yet no one made us feel uncomfortable, of course that was our idea of a romantic date –_– We ordered a salad with tomato bisque both were pretty decent but I’d much rather have the soup. For our main course we kept it simple and went with the filet 6oz. The medium rare was simply excellent! Not too tender and not too raw just about right. Sitting in the sizzling hot plate, served with onions, this steak was clearly a master piece. The mashed potatoes side is probably the best I’ve had. Although the creamed spinach wasn’t half as bad but the potatoes stole the show. Our dessert was the cheesecake which obviously was a wonderful delight. I hope to return soon and I know I’ll order the exact same stuff because Ruth Chris is all about consistency;)

Amazing food, service, and dining overall. We went here on a date for my birthday and I was blown away. The filet I ordered was cooked to perfection and the service couldn’t have been better. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for a romantic date and a restaurant that won’t disappoint.

I will start out by saying that Ruth’s is expensive, but the food is good and the service is even better. They’ve got some world class bartenders/servers and I loved sitting at the bar, listening to Kenny play piano. I went with a few girlfriends. They got wine, and I got a delicious strawberry mule to drink. We ordered asparagus fries and carpaccio for appetizers– both were AMAZING. I personally liked the carpaccio better than the asparagus, but I’m a meat lover. For my entrée, I got the bar fillet and OMG was it amazing! Best filet I’ve ever had. Cooked to perfection! It was topped by a generous amount of fresh crab meat and topped with a béarnaise sauce. I couldn’t have been happier. The three of us shared loaded fries as a side, but we couldn’t even get most of the way through them. It was a huge portion! I definitely recommend this place. Treat yourself or a loved one to dinner here for a special occasion. You won’t regret it!

Wanted to treat myself so I came here on a recommendation. Place was packed so had to sit at the bar. Which actually didn’t bother me. Sat right next to the pianist and could enjoy a good selection of classy tunes. Service was great and attentive. Food was excellent taste wise. Decore nice and classy. Drinks menu in the bar is extensive and well prepared. Two small things to be aware of. It is a classy place and you pay for it. And are repaided with good service and nice food. Entrees could come with one side at least i’d say. All in all pretty nice place if you want to treat yourself, and/or someone else.

I treated my husband to Indy for a birthday trip. He loves steak and so I decided we should go to Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse since it came highly recommended. I made a reservation for 7:30pm a week before but called 2 days prior to push it back to 8pm and they were able to accommodate that easily. The restaurant is in the heart of downtown Indianapolis and easy to find. When I made the reservation I told them it was my husband’s birthday and when they sat us, our hostess told him happy birthday and our waitress! I was so impressed! Also before our dessert our waitress brought out plate that had«Happy Birthday» written in chocolate and 2 chocolate covered strawberries! They were so good! For the food. Now I LOVE steak and am pretty picky about it. However this was the BEST steak I have ever had in my life… ever! The steak was good perfectly and so juicy and tender! It was heaven in my mouth! I can’t stop thinking about how good it was! My husband and I both got the Prix Fixe menu which came with an appetizer, entrée, side & dessert(strawberry shortcake). I got the steak salad, 6oz filet & shrimp & creamed spinach. My husband got the chicken & sausage gumbo, 6oz filet & shrimp & mashed potatoes. Our total was just under $ 100 which I thought was reasonable for what we got. We will definitely be going again. If you haven’t been, you are truly missing out!

The food is always incredible here. I highly recommend the sweet potato side dish – a must order! The steaks are served sizzling in butter, giving the restaurant a simply heavenly aroma. I just wish it was a little less expensive. A meal for two including one drink each is easily over $ 100.

I had my groomsmen here for my bachelor weekend in Indianapolis. They never fail to amaze me here. We had awesome service!!! Our server directed us to a cigar bar down the way and was knowledgable about the food. We all had filets and they were well worth the money. You can literally cut into a medium rare steak with your fork, no knife needed! Best filet in town without a doubt!

Ruth’s Chris is known for delicious steaks, neat service, and just an overall fine dining experience. And they have that reputation for a reason. I’ve never been disappointed at a Ruth’s Chris and this one didn’t let me down. We came here for an event at work, which helped get us even more attentive service. The appetizers were wonderful — calamari, Ahi tuna, and stuffed mushrooms. Then the filet with mashed potatoes and mushrooms on the side… oh so good. People debate which is the best steakhouse in Indy, and I say let ‘em. All I know is that it’s hard to go wrong with Ruth’s Chris — they’ve got a well-earned reputation for quality and don’t disappoint. Don’t hesitate to give them a shot next time you’re feeling like a spiffy steak dinner.

If you’ve got a C-note or two burning a hole in your pocket and want a damn fine steak, look no further than Ruth’s Chris. For the same price, I strongly prefer Fogo De Chao, but that does not mean my experience at Ruth’s Chris was negative by any stretch of the imagination. The food is top-notch outstanding, but it is very, very pricy. Great for a date, had a great time, but my mainstays are elsewhere. I recommend trying them at least once though!

We went to Ruth’s Chris for our anniversary dinner. We did not tell them in advance that is was our anniversary. The hostess asked us what we were celebrating and promptly took us to our table. When we got to the table, there were rose petals on the table– great touch! We had the lobster bisque and seared ahi to start. The bisque is pure heaven and the ahi was great too. My wife had the surf and turf which is a filet and and a crab cake. The filet was perfect, of course and the crab cake was good. I had the ribeye which was awesome. We also had broccoli au gratin and sweet potato casserole. Both were wonderful. The sweet potato casserole could be a dessert. We didn’t have room for dessert but our server brought us two chocolate covered strawberries on a plate that said«Happy Anniversary» in chocolate– another great touch. The service was great of course and it was an overall excellent experience.

As far as chains go, I really like Ruth’s Chris for fancy dinners and special occasions. I’ve visited ones in various cities, and this one is by far the best decorated. Its modern, clean lines really lend it an air of sophistication instead of just the«old boy» feel of some steakhouses, where you feel like you’re walking on carpet that’s seen generations of shoes and spills(ew). Entering and immediately seeing the bar before the hostess stand is a little odd, but I’m sure it’s efficient in some aspect. The service here was excellent. Dishes were timed well, water glasses were always filled, plates taken away in a timely fashion. Some restaurants suffer from being chronically understaffed; this is not one of them. The food was, as always, phenomenal. It’s pricey, but you get what you pay for. If you want a steak dinner that doesn’t cost 50 bucks, go to Golden Corral. My steak was maybe a little more on the rare side of medium rare, but I’d very much rather have it a little under-done than over. Either way, it was still hot, sizzling, and delicious when it came out on that plate of melty butter. Those steaks make such a lovely sound, really. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. And boy, was it tender! Just gorgeous. Oh yeah, I ate things other than steak, too. The sweet potatoes are amaze – that crusty pecan and sugar topping makes ‘em better than the Thanksgiving kind(don’t tell my grandma). Asparagus and hollandaise was also a favorite at our table. And then, somehow, I crammed dessert into my stomach… Probably because the chocolate mousse cake was SO light and yet simultaneously rich. I got about four bites in before I had to throw in the towel. ALWAYS share dessert here, unless you didn’t eat all of your steak or ordered something silly like a salad, in which case, what is wrong with you??? Come here. Eat steak. Love your life.

How have I been working in Indianapolis for almost two years(off and on) without coming to Ruth’s Chris? This is a solid steakhouse option that everyone should give a try in Indianapolis. Ultimately, I wouldn’t say it’s better than some of the local favorites(I.e., St. Elmo’s), but you can’t go wrong with a visit here. They give you an iPad menu to choose your drinks. That’s cool and hip and all, but makes it a tiny bit difficult to compare two items quickly. Then they offer you delicious warm bread. Then your appetizer comes out and, if it’s like ours, it is a delicious beef carpaccio. I was impressed by the combo of beef, Parmesan, and lettuce; I didn’t particularly care for the flavored bread, but overall it was an ok appetizer. Their entrees: served on a 500 degree plate with a half tablespoon(or tablespoon?!) of butter — how can you POSSIBLY go wrong?!(Actually, the occasional smell of burned butter throughout the meal wasn’t my favorite, and apparently I didn’t cover my shirt well enough because I definitely have some stains…). Anyway, the filet was phenomenal. I especially recommend the au povoire sauce(peppercorn) and the mashed potato side. You’re certainly not signing up for a healthy meal, but you’re getting some yummy and consistent food here!
