This is how you treat people at a restaurant. The standard that all restaurants should be held to. A must try are the risotto balls. You won’t be disappointed.

I dined at this restaurant this past weekend for my mom’s birthday. I cannot say enough positive remarks about The Capital Grille. We have been to this restaurant before, but this last experience was just truly perfect. We arrived at our table which was decorated with confetti and a personalized card for my mom. The entire staff had signed the card, which was very sweet! I began with a glass of champagne, while the rest of the table ordered wine and beer. Everyone was very pleased with their drink choices. They have an amazing selection of wine, beer and spirits. We started with the calamari appetizer. It is flash fried with hot peppers. It has the best flavor and is one of my favorite dishes around Indy. My mom and I then split the wedge salad, while my dad and boyfriend ordered the lobster bisque. Both were exceptional. The wedge had large pieces of bacon and blue cheese. For dinner, 3 of us ordered filet and my mom ordered the lamb. We also ordered a side of Brussel sprouts and asparagus. Our main course was truly delicious! The Brussel sprouts were my favorite and were served in a spicy glaze and grilled. The steak was cooked perfectly and so tender. Everyone was very happy with their meals. We were all so full by this time, but they even brought my mom a dessert and champagne for 4. It was such a perfect ending to our meal. My boyfriend did order the crème brûlée and said it was fantastic. I had a small bite of my moms dessert and it was fabulous. This was just an experience like none other. The service at The Capital Grille is astounding and beyond perfect. We were taken care of by Tyler and he did an exceptional job. He was so attentive to our needs and provided us with the best service. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant. This is a perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. Thank you, Capital Grille, for a truly wonderful experience.

I had my birthday dinner here a few years back and man, was I impressed. Cocktails were strong, the appetizers were delicious. The steak I had that night could have competed with St. Elmo’s. In fact, ITBEATIT! The sides were all so good and while writing this review; I’m planning my next visit. Hands down one of the best dining experiences in Indianapolis.

I could rave and rave about The Capital Grille for hours on end, but still it would not do justice to the unfathomable dining experience you’ll have when you step in the front door. Everyone knows that St. Elmo is the de facto«alpha male» when it comes to steakhouses in Indianapolis, but if more people would just be willing to break the norm and head into places like Capital Grille, they’d be pleasantly surprised. Capital Grille has an excellent menu with plenty of options(including lunch), and none of them will disappoint. With a fantastic bar selection and great bartenders as well, I’ve found that Capital Grille rises to the front of my mind almost every time I’m choosing a place to eat. Servers are all incredible and knowledgeable, and the management team is quick to accommodate whatever needs you may have. Come for the steaks. Stay because you’ve had too many Stoli Dolis to move anymore. I’ll definitely be back.

It’s always an interesting experience going to a restaurant for the first time during devour week — I feel the service is never as up to par as it should be as they assume most people won’t tip appropriate, or whatever their motive is — nonetheless, that was(unfortunately) our experience here. It was quite a wait for our table, that we made a reservation for, and once seated it was a constant back and forth between two servers who kept disappearing. We were on a timed schedule, as we were attempting a show after dinner, so that made us more aware of the time and the time we spent waiting. I do have to say both cocktails I had(Stoli Doli, and the Bohemian) were delicious and a great accompaniment to the meal I ordered(Caesar salad, tenderloin with green beens and the espresso cake). The food was magnificent — I just wish I would have had time to enjoy it more. Great atmosphere and ambiance, however! And the hostesses made great light of the situation as we walked back to our table after waiting(and also having a friend who was late).

This was my second time to Capital Grille and it was just as good as I remember it being the first time around. A couple friends and I arrived around 7 and the place was fairly busy. We wanted to sit at the bar anyway so it worked out but make reservations if you want the dining room. The three of us split a bottle of wine; they definitely have some higher end bottles that’s for sure but we were still able to find a «cheaper» one. For dinner we ordered off their Devour Menu which was fantastic. I had the clam chowder and snuck a few bites of my friends caesar salad, both great! My friends had the salmon which I also got to try, it and was delicious. I enjoyed the filet with shrimp, truly amazing! FYI it is a super thick filet; you may want to order it a little more done than what you usually order. For dessert we had the the crème brûlée and the espresso cake. My friends never had crème brûlée before and they were obsessed. Service is superb. I’m sure everyone that works there is great but we especially appreciated Travis and Michael. I know we all will be sure to return.

I’ve been here before a few times, and thought this would be a great place to treat my mother and daughter to during Devour Downtown. They had a wonderful selection to choose from, and the $ 18 – 3 course lunch was too good to pass up! I made reservations easily online, and received a follow up call the next day — nice. The atmosphere and service was everything that you would expect from Capital Grille. Our server was extremely sweet, friendly and well polished. My daughter wasn’t excited about any of the options on the Devour menu, so she ordered the Lobster Mac & Cheese. I ordered the filet mignon with clam chowder, and my mother ordered salmon with caesar salad, and we each ordered crème brûlée for dessert. Everything came out promptly, and it was as beautiful and delicious as we knew it would be. After our entrees were served, our server came to ask us how everything looked, just great! Then IT happened… what every person does not want to happen to them during Devour Downtown… she neglected us! We were seated in a room on the side so were unable to see her with other tables, but she didn’t check on us again until our plates were clean and glasses were empty. Boo! She said she had been caught up with a larger party and had people watching out for us — no ma’am, you didn’t. Anyhoo, we enjoyed our desserts with coffee and then asked for our bill. After a bit of a wait, she brought it to us and it had the charge for the Devour Dinner menu — double the price! Capital Grille is typically much better than that, so I’m still giving them 4 stars based on other experiences. I was disappointed with the wait and the mixup, but I wouldn’t say it was so awful I’ll never go back again.

Great service and good food. We came here for Devour Downtown. I had the Wedge Salad, Pork Tenderloin and Flourless Chocolate Cake. All were very good but the tenderloin was amazing. My husband had the Clam Chowder, Dry Aged NY Strip and Crème Brûlée. Our of his picks the Crème Brulee was the best. This is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. The strip was a little underwhelming compared to the tenderloin. Our server Holly was awesome and recommended a wine that paired exceptionally well with our meal. If you are going to get anything with the Porticinni Rub go for the Tres Picos Garnacha by Borsao. That run really does bring out the hidden flavors in that wine. So delicious! Great visit and we will be back for the non Devour menu!

Often service and food at restaurants can be lacking during Devour and especially when accompanied by an 11 year old. Rick Gaede(made sure to grab his card) and the rest of the staff were very attentive and provided us a first class experience! Food was perfectly prepared and delicious. My daughter mentioned that dinner there was even better than Ocean Prime, which was her previous favorite restaurant.

Delicious lunch offered on the Devour Downtown menu. Wedge salad with a great dressing. My friends had the clam chowder and said it was very good. We all had a filet accompanied with a salad of Brussel sprouts slaw. The filet was perfectly cooked. Dessert was flourless chocolate cake or crème brûlée. Price of $ 18! Lots of food. All of it delicious. Very nice service. To top it off we were given a tour of the current art on display at the Conrad. This is the place for Devour lunch.

Capital Grille has phenomenal service and great food. This restaurant specializes in steaks, and if this is what you choose it will be cooked to perfection. My only small complaint is that it can be a bit loud and bustling in the main areas of the restaurant. However, rest assured that you will not be rushed by your server! I would recommend this as a good«splurge» option for meat eaters.

From the moment that you walk in you know that you’re somewhere upscale. If you have a problem paying over $ 15 for hamburger or paying for similar upscale prices don’t even bother walking in the door. But if you enjoy good food and good service this is the place to be. The service and the food were impeccable. The atmosphere was first class all the way. Everything downtown is walking distance and the Capital Grille is in the center of downtown Indianapolis. I had a burger with an egg on it, fries, and clam chowder. They have truffle fries but I got the regular fries. The clam chowder was ok… just ok… but the burger was wonderful.

I recently came here on my second visit for my anniversary with my husband, and it was his first experience. My parents had called ahead of time to alert the restaurant that it was our anniversary, and they did such a nice job to make the experience special. They greeted us upon check in, and showed us to a nice, private table which was sprinkled with rose petals and had a «Happy Anniversary» card signed by the staff on the table. I thought that was very sweet. My parents also sent us a bottle of champs to celebrate, and that was there waiting for us and we were immediately served two flutes of bubbly. The meal itself was superb. We started with oysters on the half shell(my fave!) and were not disappointed — they were so good and so cold. We both followed up with a steak. I chose the bone-in filet, Oscar style. I mean, first the steak itself was so delicious and tender. Then topped off with yummy crab meat, rich béarnaise, and light, refreshing asparagus. It was cooked to perfection, and there was not much leftover(no regrets on that). For our sides, we chose the Parmesan Truffle Fries and the Roasted Brussel Sprouts with bacon. My mom would be proud — those brussel sprouts were so good, we barely touched the fries(they were good too– but the rich, and salty sprouts won out!). We ended the night with a glass of port and crème brûleé, both of which did not disappoint. All in all, the service was spectacular and our food matched the service. We will definitely be back!

I was very excited to eat at The Capital Grille for the first time. I am a big sucker for a well cooked steak. However, our experience was a mix of good and more ‘not so good’. To start off, I need to say that we had $ 100 gift card from when my fiancé purchased my engagement ring. We were told to mention this when making our reservations. I was able to get 7:30 dinner reservations when I called, even though open table was busy. To my surprise, there were many tables open when we arrived. We sat down and got our menus. This was our first not so great experience. We were never given devour downtown menus-or told that they had a devour menu– which would have saved us some money and allowed us to try a larger variety of foods. I actually said to my fiancé– oh I guess Devour Downtown is over now. I didn’t realize that devour menus were being passed out until after we placed our order when new tables were being seated. Every other table had a devour menu and was told about it when presented with their regular menu. I prolly took it too personal– but felt that because we had the gift card– we weren’t given the Devour menu as an option. We ordered the pork belly as an appetizer as well as 2 manhattans. Both manhattans were made with makers mark– and the ratio to vermouth, bitters, and whiskey were different in both. My fiancé actually has another one later in the night, which was still different. Not bad– but for $ 15 a drink I would expect a much higher quality cocktail. The pork belly was the best thing we had all night. It was very tender, served as a whole pork belly steak, and toped with fried green onions and a delicious sweet chutney. I would recommend this appetizer– even though it took a very long time to come out. We were told that they were getting a used to making it since it’s a brand new item on their fall menu. We both ordered the filet medium rare. My fiancés was perfect. Mine was blue. Nothing but a seer. The woman who dropped off the steaks didn’t stay at the table to check if they were cooked properly– so I had to wait for our server to check on is before I could send it back. It then came back a solid medium– with very little seasoning. There was a tremendous difference in taste between the two should-be-identical steaks. They did offer to cook me a new one when the manager came by, but by this time my steak partner in crime had completely completed his meal and I was famished. Since the $ 47 steaks do not come with sides(which we anticipated at a higher end steak house), we ordered a side of brussels sprouts. I am notorious about ordering brussels sprouts and getting undercooked ones. I actually joked about it when we ordered and asked my sprout addicted man if he was sure that was a good choice. They arrived at the table and guess what… Under cooked. Edible– but still under. The bacon in the sprouts was cubed and smoked. Good caramelization, but the smoke overpowered any other flavors. As part of the apology for the steaks– we were given a complimentary dessert. Flour less chocolate espresso cake. It was good. Not the best flour less cake I have ever had, but a solid 7⁄10. Our bill, after our $ 100 off, was $ 80. That’s $ 180 for an app, 3 manhattans, 2 filets(no add ons to the steaks) and Brussels sprouts. Way overpriced for the quality of the dishes that we received. We will not be revisiting at this time, as there are many other places in the city where you can get quite a great steak meal for the same price.

Service was fast, friendly and professional. Rick was the best! The food was spectacular from start to finish. We enjoyed the lobster crab cakes and lobster bisque soup. The bread was amazing as well. Our entrees were to die for; we had the filet with mushrooms and onions and the tenderloin with lobster tails! We enjoyed the bohemian and mojito for drinks and tried the cream brûlée with fresh fruit. This was by far the best meal and dining experience we have ever had in Indy and perhaps the USA. We highly recommend the Capital Grill without reservation!

Always a great place for steak. I usually get one of their aged steaks They have a ‘generous pour’ promotion which has 9 wines to taste — 4 whites and 5 reds. I focused on the reds. Their description is spot on. It makes you appreciate wines more Staff are friendly and helpful. Although for me it is odd for them to hand me their business cards. I’ve been at many locations including Chicago, Lombard, Rosemont and Kansas City. And I’ve never had the need to call ahead to make sure that Bob or Jane is working at my table

Here’s what I love: lunchtime at Capital Grill. Yes, my lunch salad is $ 20. But the salmon! Avocado perfectly paired with mango and tomatoes! Delish! Service is good, but unless you’re seated at a booth it can feel a little noisy and overwhelming at dinner(especially when you get stuck next to a table full of businessmen on the company dime). Steaks are good, comparable to other steakhouses downtown. Not a huge fan of the potatoes but love the asparagus. All-in-all, I’m always a fan of non-steak options and Capital Grille really hits its stride for me midday. I also heard mumblings about breakfast so I plan to update this review soon!

So I set up reservations for 8:30 after striking out on a few other joints, let them know it’s a 10 yr anniversary dinner we get there at 8:15, head to the bar to wait. I’ve been fasting for 24 hrs now, so after 2 drinks I’m pretty buzzed, by 9 pm no table I go to the hostess, it’s obvious from her reaction she’s forgotten. Nice. They get on the stick and hustle up a booth for us, the hostess asks«How were your drinks?»(?) So we get to the booth, rose petals, Happy Anniversary card on the table, nice touch, we order soup so we can get something in the stomach for now. I get the French onion, she gets the clam chowder, both are good, French onion better. Salads follow, I get the wedge, lots of bacon, bleu cheese, can’t really mess that up, main dish I get the Delmonico 22 oz, wife gets the lamb, sides are asparagus, lobster mac n cheese. Steak is cooked perfectly all the way through, not a wasted bite, butterknife smooth, very little fat, outstanding. Wife’s lamb chops are moist, nice char, a raspberry chutney spread along with it compliments nicely. Asparagus is forgettable lobster mac n cheese is delicious but has 2 huge pieces of lobster meat instead of being dispersed evenly throughout the dish. I nitpick. End of the night we get complimentary dessert, flourless choc cake, and cheesecake with crème brulee style topping. Both are excellent. Two glasses of champagne to cap off the night. What started off clunky finished up extremely smooth, service impeccable our waiter Scott had just the right touch and knew when to pop in and out timing each dish perfectly. They are slightly pushy on getting you to buy a bottle but other than that very few flaws. Dumped slightly over $ 250 with tip, this was my second trip to Capital Grille overall no regrets.
