I swear I already reviewed this… weird. I fancied the oversized pizza by the slice with banana peppers nom nom nom. Unsweet tea and lots of personality from the raspy spry woman behind the counter rounded out my meal. Seriously this woman probably has the sexiest voice in all of Indiana.

Close to home, this is likely to be the spot for my wife and I to grab a quick slice, but I doubt it will overtake Bazbeaux as our favorite local pizza place. Portion size is great for the money… the slices are huge. The plain cheese slice that my wife got was tasty, but I was disappointed that this served as the base for their margherrita pizza as well. They just put some fresh mozzarella and basil on top of the cheese slice, which, while still good, seemed a bit lazy. I’m guessing since it was a Sunday lunch we may have been getting the leftovers from the night before. It was good enough that I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and try again when they’re a bit more busy.

Brick oven pizza! They offer New York type Neapolitan thin crust, Sicilian style, and Chicago style stuffed deep dish. By the slice in Neapolitan and Sicilian, whole pizzas in all styles. Nice selection of specialty pizzas, and they will customize. Great prices! Especially considering that the dough & all sauces are house made. Red sauce is thick with pieces of fresh basil & garlic. Outstanding pesto sauce! Even their BBQ sauce and Alfredo are homemade. And of course they make their own dough. Fresh mozzarella! Toppings are freshly cut, too — not canned. Garlic spirals — a better take on garlic knots and they are delicious. Garlic knots and several kinds of bread sticks also available. Big, beautiful salads! Subs, calzones, stromboli, pastas, paninis, Spanikopita(spinach pie)… All kinds of great choices. House made baklava, cannoli, tiramisu, cheesecakes… Everything is BIG portions. I like that it isn’t one of those«no substitutions» places. The dining area is very casual — think«pizza joint» instead of fancy. It’s more than adequate & they don’t make you use plastic utensils. Soda/drinks are self-serve, which I also like. You order at the counter & then they bring your stuff out — after that you’re on your own. This is a wonderful place & the food is fabulous! You’ll find it easily in a big strip mall with plenty of free parking. The whole place is clean & well-run. Nice restrooms, too.

Best pizza in Indy. Get takeout since the shop isn’t much to talk about.

Tasty calzones and pizza with friendly service. Try the Greek salad — it’s huge and one to share for sure.

*Sigh* I used to live very close to this Italian eatery that sits conveniently on the way to and from Eagle Creek State Park. And, I used to enjoy making any excuse to not cook and go here instead for a slice, a sandwich or a salad. eh! Formaggio’s grub is particularly comforting in cool weather after a good workout. I usually go for the antipasto salad or the vegetarian sandwich(that’s probably my favorite item, actually), but I also enjoy a nice big, cheesy slice of the Neapolitan style pizza on occasion. And, I love the fact that this place has cannolis for dessert… I grew up eating cannolis like most kids eat donuts(dad’s family is from Naples) and I am always excited when I find one on the menu. I also love the bright, cheery, almost predictable red & white checked tablecloth décor at this restaurant; it just makes me feel happy and I’m pretty sure red is the Feng Shui color recommended for the kitchen… believe it’s meant to stimulate the appetite. Not that you need any help at eh! Formaggio.

Pizza baked in a brick oven — warm cheese and New Yorkers who get it right — What’s not to love!
