Everything is so delicious! Great for both vegetarians and carnivores. I happen to love the lamb dishes. The only complaint I have is that they are always out of the Malai Kofta which is a disappointment to my Fiancé.

The atmosphere in the restaurant is similar to that experienced in restaurants in Tibet. The walls are covered with portraits of Tibetan people and landscapes of Everest. Food is DELICIOUS and the workers are FAST! Great place!

Recently stopped by here to celebrate the end of finals with Christina C. While we both thought Himalayan Grill isn’t as good as it gets, we are now definitely fans! The menu consists of your typical assortment of pakoras, biryani, and curries. They have other items such as chau chau(noodles), momo(dumplings), and chef specialty dished(lobster, rack of lamb, etc.). We opted for the saag aloo, paneer masala, garlic naan, and chai tea. My personal favorite was was saag aloo, a curry made of spinach and potato. The curry was not excessively soupy, nor were the potatoes mushy. Moreover, I appreciate that their version was not overly salty. Christina preferred the paneer masala, a dish consisting of cheese in a creamy tomato sauce. It was pretty flavorful without being overly salty. The chai tea was pretty good too! As another Unilocaler noted, Himalayan Grill offers real chai tea and not that crap that starbucks has. It The warm tea and flavorful spices really helped me out on a cold December night. Furthermore, this was a sweet deal it was $ 3 for piping hot tea and free refills. The naan was solid. Not much to say about it. Nice texture, and it came out hot. We really enjoyed the Ambiance too. The restaurant was filled with warm tones while artwork and prayer flags added a nice touch. It was really quaint and cozy. All in all, we were very pleased with our visit and I recommend you guys check them out for yourselves!

We went to Himalayan Grill last weekend for dinner. I had purchased a Groupon for us. I know our standards for Indian food is quite high because we have been to some amazing ones up in the Bay Area. Plus, my family is from that part of the world so we’re had our fair share of amazing ethnic food. I feel terrible, though, giving them three stars when others have given them 4 and 5 stars. I would say take my review with a grain of salt. We found Himalayan Grill to be A-OK. We tried their samosas and as other Unilocalers said, those were amazing. I would say that was the end of amazingness though. We had the tandoori shrimp. There were 8 – 10 tiny pieces of shrimp. The shrimp felt dry and filled with lots of onions. I know tandoori is supposed to be dry on the outside but there were absolutely no juices left on the inside either. We also ordered the aloo gobi which was kind of bland. This is a staple for us whenever we eat ethnic food and I would this to lack spices and flavors. The service was wonderful. The people here were very nice and constantly checked up on us. I agree with other Unilocalers that the ambiance is nice. It’s a small place with dim lights and beautiful décor. All in all, this place is about 20 minutes from our house and we don’t see ourselves making the drive to go there. There are too many other restaurants in the area that do a better job with their food.

Came for a quick to go order and it was a very pleasant experience. One afternoon, we were craving Indian food, so we searched Unilocal and found this place. Ordered 2 entrees which came with side order of rice for take out. The restaurant staff were really nice, and patiently explained some of the items on the menu for me since I’m not too familiar with all the names of the dishes. It took about 15min to get my food during which I got to sit down at one of the empty table and was even given water to drink while I waited, nice service! Came home with the food, and everything was delicious, cooked well and flavorful. The portions are large, and we got a decent amount of rice which is great! Definitely had alot of quality ingredients in the food, and we enjoyed it. They have great lunch specials, and we are definitely going back for that next time!

Ordered online, food was ready on time. It was packed inside on a Sunday night and the seating area is tiny. Easy to find, plenty of parking. Price is a little high for what you get, but I’m used to places with much more competition(bay area) that try to keep competitive prices. Ordered: Chai — really good! It’s a real chai drink – not the chai from concentrate from their favorite coffee shops. Roti — typical, non-sweet roti. Basmati Rice — must order since it does not come with the meal. Madras Chicken — medium spice is just right. Gives it a little kick, but not too much that you need to keep a glass of milk near you. Chicken is nice and tender but some pieces were really fatty. Gulab Jamun — a little too oily, but I’ve never had it before so don’t have anything to compare it to. Overall much better than the other Indian food I’ve tried in the Long Beach area, but not as good or cheap as the places I’m used to up near SF.

Chau chau noodles with shrimp, extra spicy please. Finally trying Himalayan food. It’s so flavorful and it was actually spicy, most places skimp on the spiciness. Place is cute inside and staff is super friendly. Can’t wait to go back and try everything else.

By far my favorite Indian place in/within 20min of all that boarders HB… Which says a lot. The next closest place(20−25min) with Indian food this good is Little India– which has a bunch of great Indian restaurants. The chicken tikka masala is the most flavorful around. Flavorful and creamy, thicker than most in the area. Great spices and taste. The chicken is cooked perfectly when you eat in the restaurant, but when you get the food delivered to your house the chicken is overcooked, but the sauce is so good, I get past that. The garlic naan is the best around. They don’t overlook it like most places do with garlic naan. They also put enough garlic! The samosas are so tasty! Mmm spiced potatoes and peas in a fried shell… Heaven. The sauces that come with it, especially the green one, are spectacular. Hubby goes nuts for the shrimp vindaloo here. Nice location. Clean. Check it out! :)

So good! I came here twice in a row cause I just couldn’t resist. They have a ton of different meals on the menu and you can definitely find something that you love. Lamb, chicken, shrimp, fish all cooked a mixture of ways, and you can also get combinations like the tandoori mix grill which is a variety of meats. I’d say the mango chicken and the shrimp masala are my favorites so far, the curry chicken was alright but the others are fantastic. One thing you MUST get — samosas! Freaking delicious, potato and peas in a deep fried ball… So good. I really like the condiments they give you, I add them to just about everything here. The sweet mango chutney(I believe) and then a spicier green sauce, I can usually take spicy but something about that sauce really gets me!

The restaurant is located in the Peter’s Landing complex, which I remember used to house the Red Onion back in the 80’s. This restaurant is small, but when I went on a Thursday evening, there was not a wait. The menu has a large variety of options, including a Chef’s Specials menu. I had the Chicken Tikka, which was prepared differently than what I’ve had at other Indian restaurants. Here, the dish is made up of sliced white meat chicken breast(which I liked), served on a sizzling plate with onions and green peppers. The chicken was a bit dry, and I recommend getting a side of their marsala sauce to compensate for the dryness. The combination was delicious. They also offer a Chicken Tikka Marsala dish, but that has the chicken pieces served drowning in the sauce, which was a bit much. The Garlic Nan Bread was delicious, especially when dipped in the marsala sauce. Service here is very good, with plenty of staff to handle the small number of tables.

We came here for lunch after kayaking nearby in Huntington Harbor(only 0.25 miles away) from a handful of kayaking rental outfitters. The restaurant served good food and it was very rich(lots of cream)! Chicken Korma(cashew paste curry). Lots of juicy(dark meat) chicken. The chicken didn’t taste greasy and the korma sauce was delicious. It’s deceiving– it looks like a wimpy dish but very filling. Paneer Masala(tomato-based curry). Delicious and finger-lickin’. Again, like the korma, it looks like a wimp but it’ll fill you up in no time. Onion Kulcha(naan stuffed with onions) — very good to soak up the two dishes we ordered above. Walked out with a busted belly.

I found them through the other Unilocalers and never have I been so thankful. This small place is big on charm and the waitstaff are all friendly and helpful with suggestions. Music plays, transporting you a world away, but the food, of course, is why we’ve come. And boy oh boy, does it deliver(so do they buy the way, to your house, etc). I got the chicken korma(my requisite dish at all Indian restaurants) and I can tell you here and now, it is the best I have ever had. But they also have food of Nepal, so this review is in desperate need on future expansion. Until then, come here and order anything… your eyes, eats, nose and tummy will thank you. Again, the best!

I found this restaurant on Groupon. Will definitely be coming back. Romantic spot, good vibe and chilled cultural music. I grew up in England, which is home to some of the best family owned, Indian restaurants. This place did not disappoint. Poppadoms and dip are complementary, garlic Nann bread is delicious. I get the Chicken Tikka Masala, but I’m sure all the dishes are great. These guys know what they’re doing.

With Tibetan prayer flags adorning the ceiling, pictures of Sherpas and mountain ranges placed along the walls and soothing Himalayan music playing in the background, you get a feeling of sitting inside a warm, cozy restaurant in the foothills of the Himalayas wondering if a party of tired mountaineers would just walk in at any moment and narrate tales of their death-defying acts on the slopes. Food-wise this place is more like a typical Americanized North Indian restaurant with a few traditional Nepali/Tibetan items thrown in. That’s probably not their fault because Tibetan and Nepali cuisines aren’t as popular in the States.(All South Asian restaurants must have a Tikka Masala in their menu, right? :P) Each of us in our group got the Lunch Special — a combo meal with rice, a veggie curry of the day(which in our case was Saag), a choice of one Indian curry(I got the Mattar Paneer), Daal, cucumber salad, choice of roti, naan or garlic naan along with a choice of a drink(obviously, we got the Mango Lassi). The Matter Paneer was very thick, creamy and absolutely delicious. The Daal was light and healthy, to complement the buttery sin of the curry. The Garlic Naan was warm, fluffy and freshly baked(the amount of garlic on them being neither too much nor too less). The servings were very generous — none of us were able to finish our respective lunch specials and a lot of the food went into take home boxes. Priced at ~$ 12ish a meal, 3 people could easily be satiated by two meals(which looks like a good bargain!). I will definitely visit the place if I’m in the area again, and wouldn’t mind bumping up the star rating if this place continues to be consistently good :)

I will admit it… I was never a fan of Indian food until I ate here… I’m a absolutely addicted to their Chicken Tikka Masala, Saag Panneer and Garlic Naan… I can’t help but order the ska etching overtime because it’s just that good. I usually order delivery which comes very quickly and piping hot! I came to eat at the actual restaurant once and found it very quaint and intimate… perfect for a dinner date. Service was great and the food is exactly perfect every single time I have ordered it. I can’t wait to have it again lol.
