Came in on a Friday night, group of 5. Service was very slow even though the restaurant was pretty empty. The dishes are way overpriced for the quantity. $ 30 for 6 fried shrimp and a pile of fries? No thanks. I had the grilled octopus and 2 oysters-1 cape cod, and another one I can’t remember. Oysters were ok, octopus was fine(a little burnt) but it was fine. I actually mostly enjoyed the yucca from the octopus dish. It was crispy on the outside and so creamy on the inside. The others ordered the shrimp scampi and said it was good, and it did actually look good. Wouldn’t come back, but at least I got to try octopus. We really wanted to get the baked alaska, but of course it contains alcohol for it to light up. We asked the waitress if she could just scrape off the meringue after the fire went out and she gladly did it.

If they were cheaper, I’d eat there every time we go to the Galleria area, but Oceanaire Seafood Room is a great place to take someone for a special evening. The little bar area is cute and the bartenders were super friendly and helpful when we ordered a specialty drink. They went out of their way to accommodate us. Okay, now to the meat of the review: We went to Oceanaire Seafood Room for my birthday. We had such a fantastic experience, we returned for my friend’s birthday when she visited us from out of town, because I knew they’d take care of us and give her a lovely evening. To start, both nights, the menu had Happy Birthday at the top of the, since we had mentioned it on the reservation.(Reservations are preferred, but they aren’t required – we went both nights on weeknights, and they would have had no problems accommodating a walk-in if we hadn’t made reservations.) I liked the extra personal touch, and the manager came by with our menus rolled up and tied with a little ribbon to take home to keep as a keepsake for the evening, both nights. The décor is lovely, with splashes of blue throughout. I like the high ceilings, the wine wall, the windows to outside floor to ceiling. The tables are large and the chairs are comfortable and plush. We were greeted by a host, then seated by a hostess, and then a manager welcomed us both times. Our server, Jonathan, was amazing. He was so amazing the first time, we asked for him again the second time, and he made our evening pleasurable and fun. If looks and service matter to you, this place will be impressive and make you feel well-treated. We wanted for nothing the entire time were there, but at the same time, they weren’t right on top of us and constantly fawning either. Both evenings were some of the best service I’ve ever received at any restaurant. I credit a lot of that to Jonathan – he was personable, pleasant and knowledgeable. He made the evening wonderful. We started with crudités, fresh veggies to crunch on, pickle spears, black olives – a nice touch! The sourdough bread and fresh butter were lovely – we asked for more of both, no problems! For appetizers, one of the best things to order is the seafood tower. This comes out with fresh seafood, based on the number of people sharing. We did a two person one and a three person one each evening – decent-sized lobster claws, crab legs cracked and sweet meat ready to eat, fresh oysters, mussels, giant or collassol shrimp, and all the appropriate sauces. We tried escargot in puff pastry(super buttery and good), When it comes to the entrees and sides, we all ordered differently so we could mix and match and try everyone’s dishes. I ordered the lobster thermidor – where on earth can you still get this dish? I loved it! It wasn’t traditional, per se, but it was quite good, broiled and sweet and tangy. Lots of lobster in it. My friend had swordfish ‘angry’ and ‘dirty’, which are toppings for complement the dish. My daughter and friend tried the lobster risotto – they loved it, but I thought it was way too sweet(lobster and sweet corn). The mac & cheese was creamy and had a jalapeño kick. The truffle fries are thin and crispy, quite tasty. There was a pasta dish, served with a pasta spoon(I haven’t seen one of those in ages – they work beautifully!) and my son had the Steak & Cake, which consisted of a huge crab cake that was mostly crab and a filet mignon that was so tender it melted like butter in your mouth. The Oceanaire martini specialty drink is blue in color but has a nice kick of orange to it and is sweet without being too sweet. It’s a bit pricey, though, so be forewarned. In fact, all of their drinks are a bit pricey. We spent over $ 600 for our first evening, and I had originally posted that I was a little disappointed that the«Baked Alaska» they served for the birthday treat wasn’t comped, considering the cost of the ticket – it is a common thing I’ve known some of the nice restaurants to do. Well, when I mentioned that in my review, when we returned, our waiter Jonathan personally apologized to me and comped our desserts for the table to offer his apology for not catching that the first time. That was super nice of him and Oceanaire! It is little things like that that make me remember names and faces and come back to places! Our entire party was satisfied, both times, and we actually are already talking about going back again soon. When we’re going to be in the Galleria area, we know we have a lot of options for dining, but this is a place we’d definitely trust to go, especially if taking someone out for the first time, since we know the service is top notch. If you’re having a shopping day in the Westheimer area, the bar at Oceanaire isn’t bad either for stopping in for some raw oysters. They sell them by the oyster or by the plate, fresh and good with a drink or two. Nice way to cap off the day!

My favorite seafood place in Houston. Crab cakes are the best! Good drinks. Since it is located at the galleria mall, I would suggest valet as that was very convenient and worth every penny.

This Restuarant has very good and fresh seafood! I love the fresh oysters here and the juicy shrimps. Also the classic blue Oceanaire Martini is simply irresistible. The location is very good right in the Galleria mall. The customer service here is awesome as well.

Stopped by a couple weeks back and would say the quality and service are still pretty solid. The gumbo and oysters were really good. However, they changed up the menu and no longer offer a bloody Caesar. The waiter/kitchen messed up our order some and we had to call the waiter and manager. The reason I still am giving them 4 stars is that the quality is pretty solid. and whatever problems there were, the level of customer service is above and beyond. and what you expect from a Landry’s restaurant.

After a long day of shopping at the Galleria, relax at Oceanaire for an upscale seafood meal. Expect to pay $$$ for your meal, akin to a steak house. As a pre-dinner starter, we received a dish of cold veggies — a random assortment of cru de te and dill pickle spears — I’ve never received anything similar before at other seafood restaurants — and a fresh, piping hot half loaf of sour dough bread with whipped butter. The bread is absolutely delicious. So much so, that we asked for thirds and took a half loaf home! Calamari — a bit light on the amount of fried calamari ringlets relative to the mound of fried tortilla strips, but overall, the dish was enough to share among two. The green sauce was tangy and sweet, a cross between a chimichuri and a sweet and sour sauce. Whole grilled branzino — the fish was cooked perfectly with ample sautéed spinach and a heavy grating of parmesan cheese on top. The spinach was a bit too rich likely due to a healthy dose of butter, but the capers provided a nice tang to cut through the richness. I’d recommend requesting that the butter is cut down. Relative to the other entrees, this dish is really a good value, along with the stuffed flounder, which is also served whole with sweet crab meat and spinach and other accompaniments. Seafood sampler — Take a pass on this dish. For $ 44, you will receive a two grilled shrimp, two shrimp stuffed with crab, a piece of swordfish or some other firm white fish filets, a scallop halved, two asparagus spears and a scoop of jambalaya-esk rice. The individual items were prepared just fine, but for the price, the presentation and quantity didn’t quite seem justified. Lobster thermadour — Definitely a show stopper in terms of plate presentation but the lobster was overcooked. There was ample filling but the lobster was slightly chewy. This dish is very pricey, so you would hope the lobster is cooked to perfection. Tres leches — Huge portion, enough to comfortably share with four people. The cake had all of the elements of a classic tres leches without the over sogginess and adorned with airy frosting graced with a light sprinkling of toasted coconuts.

Good and fresh and certainly Looks the part with the awesome display when you walk in! It’s a trendy place, but it’s not the most flavorful seafood around. If I could give it 3.5 stars, I would because it’s more just above average in its price range… Nothing close to Reef, but then again nothing is…

While I really enjoyed the openess of the restaurant and it’s large windows, I have had better seafood. The service was good, but overall I found the place too«stuffy» not sure what exactly bothered me. Overall I still prefer Truluck’s for seafood although the large windows makes for a nice atmosphere.

There was a lot of us, so we started off with a few appetizers to share. Oysters Rockefeller, shrimp cocktail martini, crispy diablo calamari, fried asparagus, steamed mussels, and escargot. The steamed mussels were absolutely amazing. Honestly, I could have drank the liquid. Instead I opted for dipping the delicious sourdough bread into it when we finished the garlic bread that came with it. SOOOOGOOD!!! I had to limit myself to just two pieces because I wanted to save room. It was my first time with escargot and I thought they were very tasty. I really enjoyed the Zolo reserve Malbec and would highly recommend it. I also really liked the Oceanaire Mojito martini that I ordered although it was a little sweet to have more than one. For my main course I ordered the flounder a la Florentine and it was ginormous! The fish was stuffed with spinach. crab meat and shrimp. The fish was ok, the stuffing was the standout. I liked the fish, but it was better when I dipped it in the butter sauce. A little dry on it’s own. In hindsight I would have ordered something smaller and more flavorful. Next time I’m opting for the scallops. The service was excellent. I was very impressed by our server, Peter. He did an excellent job even though he was busy. I’m sure we’ll be back the next time we are in town. The restaurant has a great location right next to the mall. It was an excellent opportunity to get some last minute Christmas shopping in before dinner.

I found the food good but definitely overpriced. Wines are definitely marked up a bit too much(a 23 $ white Langhe for 69 $) and service a little pompous. I am not sure I would return on my own.

Expensive but worth it! Went in for dinner with a large group as we were all there for a conference and staying nearby. We actually picked this spot as several other places we had called had a long wait due to the number of folks around for this conference. The concierge at our hotel and recommended this place and called to see if they could seat all of us without a wait which they could. The service was excellent. The food was excellent. This place is PRICEY(to the point where you have to pay extra if you want your fish blackened and it comes on just the plate… no rice or anything). All the sides are extra also. Just be prepared. If you are looking for a place to have a really nice and great dinner… or have enough money to not care how much it is… then I would for sure recommend this spot. Also a nice place if you want to celebrate something special. This would be a good romantic spot for dinner.

We drove to another restaurant, but that was closed. We decided to drive to the Galleria to eat some seafood. It’s beautiful inside. We had no reservation but we got immediately a table. Our waiter was Mikiele and very friendly. We got some(free) bites with some(free) bread together with a blackberry smash(14 dollar) and a sparking raspberry sangria(12 dollar). These cocktails were below average. The glass was filled with too much ice ! I decided to take the Oysters Rockefeller(14 dollar). Not bad at all, but this can be much better. Put it eg a couple of minutes under the grill at the end ! My husband had the tuna as appetizer(16 dollar), which was very good(maybe a little bit too spicy). I ordered 2 glasses of WZ Canyon Road white(9 dollar/p) which was excellent. Afterwards, the Fisherman’s platter came(29 dollar) which I thought it must be something good. But… it was horrible. Everything was fried. No taste from fish or ‘the sea’ in this plate *bèh* My husband had the fin & shell Fish Stew platter(26 dollar) and also this one was no success. The cream in it was dominating. The quality of the fish substandard. We paid — for sure — too much in this restaurant. I will not recommend this place to someone.

I returned to the Oceanaire for a luncheon meeting. I have vacillated about the rating but decided on an average not because the food was objectionable but because the service was not on par with other lecture/luncheons I’ve attended. First let me comment on the food. The luncheon had three entrée options, a salad and a dessert after. The salad was quite good, all fresh vegetables and lettuce, lightly dressed with a vinegarette which was flavorful not remarkable. I selected fish taco’s which were quite neutral in flavor however the fish was firm and perfectly cooked. They were accompanied by a generous portion of French fries which were warm and very crisp despite the fact that we had close to 80 – 90 people in our party. However they were late to bus tables hence the meeting ended and was dismissed with dessert ever being served. Hence 3 stars represent an unremarkable entrée and an incomplete service. Please do not regard this particular evaluation as representative of the quality of entrée’s at The Oceanaire since as a general proposition the flavor of the food is generally quite delightful. However consider this evaluation as a caution to gain an assurance from the catering manager that your large party will be adequately staffed with the proper number of servers and bus for the size of your party.

I came here during a day with the girls for happy hour on a Friday. With the exception of one element of my experience, I had a great time. We decided to sit on the patio facing the valet, which turned out to be wonderful. I chose to eat a crabcake sliders which they put on a nice soft bun. It was so good! I will definitely be back. The menu items I saw all looked worth a try.

Don’t worry if seafood isn’t your thing, because they view alone is worth coming in for. The Oceanaire is one of the few restaurants that I’ve seen where almost every seat has a view because of the long rectangular shape of the dining room. When you walk into the Oceanaire, you’ll see the beautiful bar to your left and the hostess stand to your right. When you walk into the dining room, the entire left side of the room is fastened with half round booths and the entire right side of the room is nothing but a panel of windows. White linens, black booths, and blue candles will have you singing«somewhere under the sea» because it will make you feel like you’ve made a trip below the ocean to dine… the only difference is that the fish swimming have been replaced with cars driving by. The service is hit or miss with every visit I’ve had; sometimes it’s spot on and sometimes it’s just bad. I’ve had some great service where my waiter was very attentive and professional, but on the flipside I’ve had some bad service where the waiter was completely inattentive and a bit too much of a dingbat. The food is better than the other Landry’s seafood restaurants, and I believe most of that has to do with the attention to detail in the kitchen. Menu’s at seafood restaurants are filled with plenty of seafood, shellfish, sushi, and all things that come from the ocean. Grilled, blackened, sautéed, baked, fried, raw… take your pick because no matter what, you will enjoy what you get. For those non-seafood eaters, don’t worry they do offer a small selection of steaks, chops, chicken, and pasta. I’ve had several different options of seafood, appetizers, and desserts between the four visits I’ve had here. My favorite so far is the grilled or sautéed gulf fishes and the oysters on the half shell. The salads are pretty decent, but the desserts are ridiculously oversized and way overpriced. This is one of the only complaints I have about this place; I think it’s abhorrent to serve up too large of portions for dinner as is and then offer an even larger portion of dessert. If anything, I would like for Landry’s to cut back on this unnecessary practice and actually make smaller more elegant desserts with smaller price tags attached. I really like this seafood restaurant, but the prices can be a bit high for what you get; however, some of that is paying for the beautiful location of them being situated on a corner space of the Galleria Mall. This is a far better choice if you’re wanting a decently priced seafood dining experience in a beautiful restaurant unlike their competition Peska down the street that is not only very loud, but also much more expensive than the Oceanaire. Overall, it’s worth a try if you haven’t dined here, but I would recommend staying away from the desserts unless you have at least a party of four to split it.

Disclaimer — Even if I had a 5 star experience, it is my opinion that I need to visit somewhere twice in order to give it 5 stars. My husband and I ate here on a Friday night during HRW, we arrived early so we stopped at the bar for a drink. Turns out we missed Happy Hour a few minutes(M-F 4−7pm) which was actually a big bummer because the drinks were much much cheaper. I ordered the Perfect G&T(Gin & Tonic with St Germaine) and to be honest I was disappointed, it wasn’t very strong and I couldn’t taste the St Germaine at all, I paid $ 15 for about 5oz of liquid. On to Dinner, We sat by the window(per my reservation request which usually get ignore ha) so the ambiance and environment really added to the experience. Our waiter(we’ll call him T) was awesome! I find that sometimes when you ask for the HRW menu in restaurants the service goes down. But not Mr T, no sir, he was really great. I had Coconut Calamari, Braised Beef & Scallop and Croissant Bread Pudding. My husband had the Sweet Chili Shrimp, Blackened Mahi Mahi and Mango Tres Leches. Besides the Coconut Calamari which had a Key Lime sauce drizzled on it, the rest was heavenly. Every bite was one to savor, everything was cooked perfectly. I didn’t try the Mahi Mahi, my husband ate it too fast for me to get a bite haha but I think that that’s a good sign. We also ordered a few cocktails; a Mojito and the Prosecco Sangria, again not that impressive and pretty weak for an upscale restaurant charging $ 15 a drink. I’ll definitely visit again, but perhaps I’ll just stick with Wine.

It’s a great place for a date or girls night out. It’s located inside the Galleria, if you have trouble finding parking they have valet service. I was surprised but happy to find out that they are in the Landry’s Reward Club, which means more points yay, just unexpected since I thought I have already been to all the Landry’s places. Food was good, complimentary salmon tastings, bread and pickled veggies. I would recommend: Clam Chowder soup Their fish — pricey but very good Coconut Tres Leches yummmmmm! Light and freshly whipped cream on delicious tres Leches cake with a delicious hint of coconut Service — I read a couple of reviews raving about their service, but maybe it’s because Peter wasn’t there anymore and we got an old man who was very stoic, I wasn’t too impressed with the attitude of his service. The manager walked by to check on all the tables which was nice, and a waitress nearby looked super friendly, all smiles and awwwww’ed at my kids a lot(why didn’t we get her for our table?!) Price — definitely on the pricey end

My friends and I came here Friday for happy hour after work. We were fortunate someone got there early and was able to snag a table for our group of 3 as the bar area started filling up after 5:30p. It was very busy and congested in the area per usual so we all decided to valet our cars so it would be easier. My girlfriend ordered the crab and lobster roll special. My friend and I ordered the oysters Rockefeller and the crab cake sliders. I also ordered the mojito which was very refreshing and packed a punch! The oysters had a lot of spinach on top and the oysters weren’t as plump as I’d hope, but the flavors were still good and there was bacon. I’d have to say Truluck’s version is more of my style. The crab cake sliders were tiny perhaps a bite or two in the Unilocal photos they appeared bigger. I’m not sure if they scaled them down or if my assumption was off. Either way it was still flavorful and fresh I’d get them again. I’m coming back to try their shrimp & grits.

Bar area for snacks… came here a little after 8pm on a Wednesday We ordered — 3 dozen oysters, shrimps and grits, ahi tuna tower. Sat at the bar. Had a Dirty Belvedere but it was too sour for me(too dirty perhaps?), a bottle of chardonnay, and a glass of a different chardonnay. I wished they do a better job shucking oysters!!! I get bits of shells and the muscle is not detached. UGH

This place never let’s me down ever!!! I have eaten at Oceanaire in San Diego and Texas and it doesn’t disappoint. I am a seafood junkie and I will say they have some of the best around. Today I went for Happy Hour and I ordered Crab cake sliders-pure crab meat no breading on top of a soft mini bun with lettuce and tartar sauce. So insanely fresh and delicious and you get 3 for $ 8.00 I also ordered the Oysters Rockefeller– they were huge and topped with creamed spinach, bacon, and cheese. I live for this place and its typically pretty pricey so for HH to select from food from $ 6 – 8.00 I’m soooo down!!!
